Hi, if I am doing this online like you’ve shown to a “private individual/buyer”, do I need to do anything with the green Section 2 inside the V5C document? Is the online form now basically the green Section 2?
I accidentally sold my car….to myself. I entered my details as the person it was sold to and now another v5 will be sent to me. Am i able to fix that before it adds another keeper?
Hi mate, thanks for this video very helpful. One thing I didn’t understand was, on the dvla page to sell to a motor trader, it said to destroy the yellow section. Do I cut it out and give them the rest of the log book?
You can leave the yellow slip on if you have already done it online. The yellow slip is for when you do it via post. Its the document reference number that's important and can only be used once. Hope this helps.
@SeewithmeArchie I kept my yellow slip after they took the car, declared it all online using the information and then just filed it with my DVLA confirmation email and the slip of paperwork that came from them. I think you can destroy it but I kept it as proof of ownership transfer 🤷♀️
So I'm selling my van in just over a weeks time and I'm used to sending off the log book by post but this can take some time for records of new keeper to be updated. I'm worried that if I do it by post then if the new owner get a speeding ticket of goes in the ulez zone I'd get the fine as straight after he buys it the records won't have changed to hes name. If I do the online way like your video will this updated straight away and then if he does get any fines then surely it will go to he's address and not mine?? Please help me out with this question
Yeah if you do it online it will be updated much faster. You can leave an email when you do it online too and the DVLA send you confirmation instantly and it will be timed. I would also recommend doing a reciept with the exact time and getting the new keeper to sign that. These together will show everything you need if there are any issues. Hope this helps. Thanks
Hi , quick question,is it possible for the seller of a car to input the incorrect date of sale in this process? Just got my new v5c through the post and the vehicle acquired date is wrong(3 days earlier) and yes you’ve guessed it I received a parking penalty when I didn’t even know the car existed!!! Thanks
cheers, also the dvla website claims you can process your "bought" car online too, you can't, it Simlpy refers you to the old fashioned post method, yet another loophole in favour of the seller, shocking I think
Hi i bought a car but its from a friend so i didnt force him for papers but now i want to transfer it to my name and my friend is not around i have just got a green piece of paper written new book keeper details its v5c/2 form a small green paper now my question is how to get new papers and get vehicle to my name
hi im having trouble with the green slip online. my v5c/2 reference number is 12 digits long, but on gov it asks for a 11 digit?
Check the dates to make sure it's the latest one
Also you can remove the last digit and try that.
Thanks
Thank you.

Yeah that's absolutely fine. You use that section then after they send you a new Logbook.

Hi can you please clarify if we need to destroy the yellow section if the process is done online

Happy to help.
@@allvehicleswanted Hi, so if you doing online you still need do everything on the v5 or no? And send it to DVLA ?
Hi, when i bought the car the seller spell my name wrong on v5 now i want to sell my car, it will be a problem?
No it won't be a problem as long as you have the up to date and correct V5. Thanks
How long does it takes for the dvla to update that you the new owner of the vehicle if u done it online?
It usually is done in around a week. Sometimes maybe a little less.
How to change the name, which is mispelled
The best way is to write to the dvla to do this.
@@allvehicleswanted thanks for your reply. Can you able to tell me the procedure please

Yes, it is possible and can be done by mistake or potentially on purpose to cover something. Hope the situation gets sorted.
Thanks for the reply, seems like a loophole that’s going to cause a lot of stress for folks
No problem
