Hello sir
A few days ago I saw a trade advertisement on Facebook. That advertisement was from UK. The mobile number on this advertisement was from UK. I spoke to this number. And he told me to invest at least a hundred dollars. And he told me to make a profit of one thousand dollars after twenty-four hours on an investment of one hundred dollars. He sent me the front picture of his UK driver's license on WhatsApp. So I asked him to verify it on his online DVLA website. He refused. He said no. So, I request you all. If anyone has any information about this, please guide me. Can I personally confirm this card by talking to the representative on the helpline on the DVLA website? I can. Is it possible?
Thank you - clear and concise

Thanks. I was trying to find where to sign the paper work when sell it privately on the v2 log book. There is no signing required . Thanks for explaining :)
Selling or trading a car and notification to DVLA. It's part of a legal sale and transaction of a vehicle.
Thanks 🙏
Welcome
perfect
I bought a car yesterday, I gave the seller my details, fortunately I bought the car for my which, which the parking permit and road tax will be registered with a name. I hope it doesn't have any consequence for my name to be on new keepers record.
Hi, with the online process your completely at the mercy of the seller to input the correct ‘sale date‘ without being able to check/confirm it’s correct so backdating is easily done and therefore the ‘vehicle acquired ‘ date on the front of your new v5c you get through the post is the incorrect date also, leading to many headaches and stress when tickets/fines etc start turning up in your name because your registered as keeper of the vehicle, massive loophole in the DVLA system that needs fixing in my opinion
Thanks
You're absolutely correct. Paper notification is the way to go. Thanks for commenting.
Thanks
Welcome
Well, not pretty clear on selling to trade with the new vc5 , as you can’t just tear the yellow section, it will tear section 3-4 and 5 all together, (blue yellow and red) do I have to manually cut only the yellow ???? Or do I need to send the 3 sections but only fill the yellow ? A bit confused rn
Hi. I have a question about who is the legal owner of the car. My partner bought me a car as a present. . Anyway, he managed to change the name in the log book through online cos I was inquiring how to tax my car as he cancelled payment using his bank account. I’m not stealing anything as far as I’m concern as it was given to me. What do I do? Return the car just like that but I need it for work and I don’t have any much budget to buy a new one, he did offer to help me get a different car or shall I just sell this one online snd bought a car snd give him the half of the sell. Thank you
Can someone explain I sell a car to a trader some months ago , I receive a letter from the police that someone was driving the car and they want info about the driver , after I contact the buyer and and provide me with a name , but car since i sold it no v5 was relese, after having some discussion with the buyer did online sell to a private person , with the old v5 that was in my name how is this possible?
my friend bought a car and the guy who sell him the car didn't sign. we were trying to contact the guy but he does not respond. what can he do in this situation?
To notify dvla of selling my car I did it online.
Is it the same?
Thanks for the video. What to do when I found a typing error in the VIN of the car in the vehicle details section? instead of N there is the letter M. Any sugestions? Should I use section 1 to put good VIN and send it back to DVLA?
I'd suggest updating the it yes.
Nice clear explanation. So if i sell to trade and complete the necessary info online, do I still give the buyer the physical log book and phyically complete yellow section?
Give the V5 to the dealer. That's all you need to do if you have notified DVLA online.
Hi I havent been very long in UK and its going to be the first time i sell my car to a private driver. So once i give section 6 to new owner and keeping and filling section 2 i need to send it to DVLA. My question is do I need to send the document by post or its all online??
Video was really helpful. Thanks a lot!
You can do it all online.
Hi , great video !
Btw what is the document reference number in the trade section of the v5? I’m guessing it’s the reference number of the log book ? Thanks !
Yes, it is
What if my car was wrote of and they insurance took the car after paying me out?
Hi guys, Please help me I just bought a car and trader just gave me logbook with only signature on it. I fill section 6 which states.
1. Name
2. Address
3. Date of sale or transfer
DO I NEED TO TICK THAT BOX WHICH SAY (NEW KEEPER? IF SO TICK THIS BOX)
Hi , really helpful and clear video . i want to ask is it necessary to fill the VAT no of a trader when selling to a motor trader thanks .
It's not mandatory but good practice.
Hi, I'm from Mexico. I bought an Austin mini to import it from the UK to Mexico. The seller won't give me his v5. Is it necessary to register it in my name in the UK? According to the page, it is not necessary, what can I do if the person does not want to give me the complete v5, he only gave me the green section 10 again guardian and I cannot import it without the complete v5, I hope you can help me, thank you very much
Not if the car was exported and DVLA were notified.
Hi can you please advise? If a vehicle is already registered to me as trade (yellow slip sent off on my company name). If i sell to another Car Trader/Car Auction then i do not have the option to transfer/sell as trade to them as the yellow slip has already been sent off on my name. Am i correct to assume i will need to write to DVLA and inform that i have sold from trade to trade?
You'll need to write or call dvla. The log book doesn't have the option to sell from trader to trader.
We are having our car picked up and sent to auction still not sure how to fill in form and who keeps what we fill in section 6 of new form i think but do we need signature on form from people collecting car and do they have all the log book
Auction are trade buyers so that's the yellow slip. They get the logbook.
Hi,I 've bought a car about six weeks ago .I 've got the new keeper slip and I've taxed and insured the car on my name.I am planing to go to Europe but I did not receive the V5 yet.
After 4 weeks of ownership I have filled a V62 FORM and sent it with the payment to the DVLA and kept the new owner slip with me just in case.
DVLA said that I will receive the logbook within six weeks:it's been 2 weeks so far without receiving it.
Can I use just the new keeper slip to travel in Europe if I don't receive the logbook in time?
Many thanks
Actually I am not sure. It is unlikely you'll need the V5 to travel in Europe as the document is not proof of ownership.
What do you do if you buy a car with V5 and I check all of the details with car veto I paid 10 pounds and afterwards I then I brought a car, after I got a new keeper green slip and the wrong code n 11 digit I send to dvla v62 now 2 month waiting
I would call DVLA immediately and explain the wrong information was submitted about the chance of ownership. Don't wait for the new V5 to arrive. www.gov.uk/contact-the-dvla/y
Is this still OK for 2022? Great video thanks.
Yes, notify the DVLA same way as described. For new V5 logbooks, the second part of the video has an explainer.
What if I am a motor trader and the vehicle has been sold, how does the new keeper get a new v5c? the car is currently registered with the DVLA as being 'on trade' and I have the old keepers v5c. Ive now sold it, what do I do to make sure the new keeper gets the new log book? (first time selling as a trader working from home)
Provide the buyers name, address and send to DVLA.
Hi maybe a silly question. But section 2 on the latest v5c new keeper. Do they fill it out and keep it or do i send it off to the dvla?
Fill in section 2 and send the whole logbook to DVLA. New keeper retains section 6 so they can tax the car.
So if I'm buying a car to sell on an make money on but I've not got a business or nothing just from home do I still sign the yellow part as trade ?
Technically you are a private owner but if so you need the car registered in your name and have the whole logbook. If not, it's tricky to sell.
Gah! I'm still confused, maybe I'm just stupid or am overthinking things. We're sending our car to the scrap soon and apparently also need to fill in parts of this V5c form.
Which parts of the form do I need to fill it, keep and/or send to the DVLA/new keeper?
See this page please www.gov.uk/scrapped-and-written-off-vehicles
Hi I have a questions if its ok
What about if you need to travel and your logbook hasn’t arrived yet,I mean my friend just bought from the dealer but haven’t got the V5C yet is there a way to drive the car any other ways to proove your ownership?
Kind regard
If you are exporting you'll need the v5c. If not, then you can drive normally provided the car is insured, taxed, mot'd.
Hello, if I'm the buyer of the car to a private person, do I need to wait for the V5 form on the post (and then tax the car) before I drive? Or can this V5 process be done online? Thank you
If the seller had the v5 then you get the green slip so you can tax the car online or at the post office. If not, you must apply for a v5 via the DVLA v62 form and wait for the logbook. In this instance, the car must be SORN until V5 arrives:
www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-for-a-vehicle-registration-certificate
www.carveto.co.uk/blog/dvla-sorn/
car dealer gave me green slip to get tax .so i did but he said he send log book to dvla and he has not that was 3 months back wot shall i do...
You need to fix this asap. Use the V62 form to get a new v5c. Unfortunately is costs £25 but necessary. See this link: www.carveto.co.uk/blog/lost-logbook-v62/
is there a way to sell my vehicle before my new v5c logbook arrives? I've recently bought a car and been given the green slip to pay tax, however I want to sell it ASAP but my v5c hasn't arrived in the post. Also in the future I am looking to buy a car and sell it within a couple days of buying it...is this possible?
Yes you can sell it. The buyer must apply again for a new V5C logbook and pay the £25.
It is good that you have the green slip. The new owner can tax the car with no need to SORN it.
So when the dealer buys the vehicle and the yellow slip gets sent off does the dealer eventually get a new logbook sent to them from the dvla in their business name
No, the dealer keeps the old logbook. The yellow slip notifies DVLA of sold to trade.
I am looking at a car in a garage that i want to buy but checking GOV online site it says a new V5C Logbook was issued only a month ago, does selling to the trade mean a new Logbook is issued to the garage or has someone only owned the car for a month then sold it on
Trade would normally keep the logbook and complete the yellow 'sell to trade' section. It is a little unusual for them to register it in their name or for there to be such a recent change in ownership.
So, it might be a red flag. Run a car history check to make sure the car is authentic.
@@CarVeto Thank you, would removing a private plate trigger a new book?
Can you tax the vehicle straight after filling out the green slip and does it come into affect the moment you pay the fee
Use the green slip to tax the car before its registered in your name. You'll need your insurance certificate and valid MOT if needed.
I’m selling my car private but it’s being collected by someone else and the new owner won’t be present to sign the old style V5c form, can I just sign it and send it off to the dvla ?
That should be fine or have the pick up guy sign it on their behalf.
I recently bought a car from a dealer but the V5C I was given has the previous owner's details on rather than the dealer's. is this normal/correct?
This is normal. The dealer doesn't want to register in their name as it loads an additional car owner on the log book.
Question - I am selling my car and it has a private numberplate - A buyer is picking the car up next week but I am unable to complete the retainment online, and so will take 2 weeks for V317 application by post. Is it okay to complete the sale and let them drive with the current private numberplate till I receive the retainment confirmation letter from DVLA?
I have not heard of letting a car go with the registered keepers private plate. This needs to be dealt with before you complete the deal.
@@CarVeto Thanks, I decided the risk isn't worth it so I will just wait for DVLA. :)
I bought a car I have the new keepers slip but it’s been 2 months and still mot received new v5c. The guy I bought the car from is not answering my calls (I am worried now). What do I do? I paid via bank transfer so I have proof purchase.
First thing is to apply for a new log book via V62. You'll get the doc in ten days from application: www.gov.uk/government/publications/application-for-a-vehicle-registration-certificate
Use our database to check the current MOT status and when the last v5c was issued. You'll need a car reg number. Here is where to go www.carveto.co.uk
I would strongly suggest running a background check to ensure the car is not stolen or a write off, cloned etc. You need to know of any issues and then next steps from there.
I hope this helps.
Email our support team via the website and use ref 'v5/mot' and I'll pick it up.
@@CarVeto Thank you. Do I make a copy of the new keepers slip before sending it off ? Otherwise I won’t have any proof of owning the car if police stop me.
Question: As a seller, when filling out the new style VC5 do you need to sign it? - I can't find anywhere for a signature, but it feels odd sending it off without having signed it?
Thanks
Good question. No, there is no signature required on the new V5C. Given the digit aspect of car registration documents, DVLA have decided a signature is no longer needed.
If I sell my car for scrap do I always and in every circunstance need to keep the section 4?? Is it not necesary to keep it if I do the process online so in this case the trader would keep the whole logbook?
Once you've noticed DVLA your responsibility to the vehicle has stopped.
@@CarVeto thankss!
You can do this online and it's quicker than paper/post
Agreed.
I’m looking at selling my car soon for the first time can I just do this all online than?
Hello what if I purchased a vehicle privately but the address of the person selling the bike was wrong?
It's usually a red flag. Be cautious and ask questions before you buy.
Hi, I've just sold my car privately to a trader and given them the full V5 will they have to send anything to DVLA to inform them as I've still got tax on the car and will need it refunded.
If you have sold to trade, the yellow section 4 should be completed. It is important in case the vehicle incurs a fine or is seen in an accident. I suggest contacting dvla and notifying them that your old car has changed ownership.
What happened when you contacted the DVLA?
so if selling to trade i just keep the yellow & give them the rest ?
Yes, you send the yellow slip to DVLA. Dealer gets the rest.
How to apply for a new keeper logbook online plz?
Not online, V62 form only.
With the new v5c,where are gonna sign my name and the new owner sign?
You'll need to complete Section 2: www.carveto.co.uk/blog/dvla-logbook/#section2
Can you explain what need to do when the car has to be permanently exported, please.
Exported out of the UK? There is a section on the logbook to deal with that.
@@CarVeto yes, thank you.
Do you just cut the yellow slip out when selling to a trader?
Yes. Fill in the form with the dealers name, address and VAT number with date of sale and send to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1BD.
Hi mate what would you do if you sold the car but gave the buyer the whole log book and you don’t know their address
Call DVLA for advice. Tell them the sale date. Important that you don't leave it as it is.
@@CarVeto ok thanks mate cheers
I've recently done the same thing, did you manage to resolve this?
What if i lost the other part of the paper is it problem
If DVLA are notified there is no problem.
gn54gkc peogeot has been scrapped on friday last 15 01 2021.
My dads gonna give me his car but will it add another owner? We live in the same address
Ideally, you'll complete the V5C with your name/address and send to DVLA.
Hi. I've been in UK so little and I did a big mistake. I went to buy an used car from a private dealer and I sold my old one to this same guy in the same transfer. I did a mistake because after he payed me I gave him the whole logbook of my old car without doing the proper process. I thought that was ok. I cancelled the old car insurance and I started a new one with the car I bought.
I thought everythings was ok but recently ive received a document saying i should pay the 6 months road tax of the car I sold. That means its still on my name. I dont know what to do cause im unexperiwnced in this subject or if that could affect me in a bad way. I would really apreciate any help. I contacted the guy i sold the car to and he said he sold to another person and that he would tell him to sorn it or whatever. But im worried because i dont know how this could affect me and Im soppuse to pay the 6 months road tax before the begining of next month.
Again i would be really thankful if i could get any advice. Thanks a lot...
Contact DVLA and explaind what happened, they will hopefully try to resolve.
I did the same, what happened?
If i selling my vehicle out of uk?
What should i write?
Fill out Section 5 Permanent Export
I don't understand anything how to sell it
In the V5C signatures section, will I need to sign it beforehand or can my authorised
person sign it while I'm away when selling? I'm a little conflicted about this situation as I will be going away for a couple of months and in need of selling the car.
The registered keeper needs to sign the V5 during a change of ownership.
Does anyone else have a differently formatted logbook?
The new style V5C log book is included in the second part of the video, unless you have a very old log book from ten years ago or more.
Is the vat number necessary for selling to a trader?
It''s not mandatory but we recommend.
@@CarVeto thank you
The DVLA make it so difficult
Where do I find the logbook number
