    That's interesting you had issues with compacted soil with perlite, I had far more issues with sand compared to perlite. I've found that typically the sand just slowly washes down to the bottom of the pot while perlite may float a bit at first but generally stays fairly even in the soil. Good luck with the new soil mix!

      Michael Fallen almost, I mentioned that perlite ( for me) in some cases floated up but you that needed something in the mix for drainage and to keep the peat moss from compacting.

      @@BradsGreenhouse If you add a small layer of peat ontop you prevent the perlite from floating.

    Great video! Have you ever seen a difference in the number of flowers in Sarracenias which are divided? I mean: is the mother plant able to produce more than one flower at the same time or we have to divide it in order to have more flowers? I'm asking because all my Sarracenias produse only one.

    We didn’t see much of your sarracenias last year!! What about 2 or 3 nice tours during this year?

    Hi Brad is it possible that you can make a video on how to divide Venus Flytraps

    • @barneymiller6204
      @barneymiller6204 3 роки тому

      Simply remove them from the pot and separate them in the obvious places, just like Sarracenia. If they don't separate easily repot them until next time. Easy.

    I had a second-year sarracenia purpurea that I just divided today, and...I just don't feel like it went well. I don't expect three out of the six divisions to make it, as I got part of the rhizome, but none of the roots on three divisions. But we shall see. Kind of frustrated, but I'll keep learning.
    And just as I posted that, I got to the part of the video where you said you can break off a growth point and not have roots, and it will likely still make a plant.
    I am literally laughing out loud.

    Mine need repotting too. I don't give them a dormancy period though.....Is it a bad idea to repott them while active?
