GM and Ford are getting rid of cars, so Toyota shows the world how to keep selling cars by making their Corolla which is already the best selling car on earth even better!
Don't you mean uglier?....🤔
@J name They also care about their performance vehicles like the Mustang, Focus RS, and GT.
@@PanameraTurboSEHybrid There will be no focus rs. Mustang will be the only "car" sold. Except any high performance like the Ford GT.
@J name Ford rarely made good smaller engines and transmissions to go with them. But they do make really nice big engines
@@DrftingTrance yes there are just not in the usa & canada
If you like the 'sport' look, give this a thumbs up!
They should have gave the xse a turbo if they really wanted to compete with the civic
I'm fine with no turbo. Get a manual and rev that baby out!
I would give a thumbs up but your fat ass is always in the picture.
@Joe Blackner Well then why are you here
The sporty look looks like a Kia
Hey Everyone!
I figured I could just pin a comment with pricing information once it was released, so here is the base price for each trim:
L: $19,500
LE: $19,950
XLE: $23,950
LE Hybrid: $22,950
SE (CVT): $21,950
SE (6MT): $22,650
XSE: $25,450
Yikes, I bought a new RAV4 2018 in December for 21,900
TFLnow I would like a Wagon Corolla Toyota for USA with a six or seven speed manual transmission with final overdrive gear to be
.66 to 1 ratio......
Toyota will always be reliable...
You'll never be able to beat it.
Coco Coco So true. Toyota and Honda too.
Japanese Toyota's and Honda's are the very reliable ones the ones Made in the United States come no were close to the Japanese quality.
I hope toyota stick to there reliable
Manual transmission!! Whoohoo! 👍
With you! And it's been reported so far, you can't get one in the upcoming Mazda 3 Sedan - only higher trim hatch version, which is awesome, but none in the sedan. An XSE with 6spd manual is my new choice if I was upgrading!
I have two Toyota for more than 10 years transmission still working good.
Welcome to 2019 Toyota... finally a manual. What about Apple Car play? No wonder Civic and Accord are so highly rated and regarded...
modmatt1 sad the 2019 Cruze doesn’t have a manual and then even went to a CVT. CVTs suck ass. They are no fun. I think I’ll probably just stay with the 2018 Cruze because it has a CVVT which isn’t an actual CVT. It’s, continuously variable valve timing, and then it gets a Continuously Variable Transmission.
6MT does not have JBL. I just hate these marketing retards at Toyota that limit options. Who said people that drive manual do not like their music in high quality?
Toyota is killing it!! Now I know why ford and Chevy are moving away from sedans. They just can't compete. The gas mileage is amazing!!
“Dethrone” the Civic? You’re joking right?
Better check tape on this TFL...
Corolla already holds the throne and the crown for #1 Selling Car Of All Time! 👑
Pretty sure that the hybrid version will not use a conventional CVT. None of the Toyota hybrids use a conventional CVT. They call it an E-CVT because from a drivers perspective it acts kinda like a conventional CVT. It is not though. It is a very different animal that is much more durable. It is a planetary power split device.
Yes this is true. Toyota's CVT has the least moving parts out of any other CVT on the market which makes it super reliable
Like ur real reviews better than the other guys on this channel. U made starting to watch this channel again. I didn't really care for the other guys' 0-60 acceleration at high elevation - most people live on the flatter part of the earth. Good job!👍🏻
The whole earth is flat LOL right... the 🌎
Honestly the only thing that keeps TFL popular is it that their usually first to UA-cam with a new car review. Roman is all over the map with every review he does, Nathan's just as random. Tommy needs some cocaine or something because he always seems sad or angry. Stephen Elmer is alright, I'm neither here nor there on his reviews.
Frankly Andre and Mike are are the best reviewers on the channel, TFL is holding them back. I wish Andre especially would wise up and do his own channel.
Ryan Siffledeen Ha ha I still refuse to mention names LOL

The tri-light headlights look pretty cool.
I bet you other car companies will copy this style
Yeah and will cost you at least $1k (each not pair) for replacement.
@@cpd969 no one cares
Eagle Lawn Vac and Auto It would fit but it looks too big. The grille is the worst part about the front end
Great video, thanks!😎
Nice video. And WAY TO GO TOYOTA! 6-speed manual transmission option for the XSE! There are no other such revolting and castrating letters in the automotive industry like CVT.
Wow, a lot of these features you have to pay thousands extra to get in a merc or a bmw
All cars at this point should have LED lights STANDARD
The best thing about them are the prices for replacements when warranty is gone.
J Silver how expensive are they?
I’m not sure what replacement cost is, in theory they should last allot longer than halogen headlights....my 2015 LED lights are still going strong!
@@Fadic4 It costs more than $1000 - $1500 to replace one of LED light for the Accord. And I heard it's alot more for German cars.
@@sneakersonfeet9045 I've seen tests where HID headlights performed significantly better than LED. In my opinion, if the car has Halogen bulbs its should have fog lights standard.
Bought a 2020 corolla, my wife and I love it. Sport mode makes the car a silent gun because it’s pretty quick and silent
Brandon3pt So u would recommend it?
... NEVER have I been more interested in a compact car until now. This 2020 Corolla XSE is 🔥🔥🔥 I'll take it!
Toyota is gonna be making serious Bank on the hybrid version. Prius milage without the prius image and more interior room
Much nicer Sporty look. Sure beats the Toyota styling of the last few years.
Less ugly doesn't make it beautiful.
For me personally, I am a little bit more conservative in car styling and I think it’s too open and too sporty and way too different for my liking. But again that’s just me and most people disagree with me because these things are probably selling like hot cakes
@@steelheart4148 spoken like someone who doesn't have such a nice car but stayed to view the video 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣😂
That spacious trunk is a feature that serial killers are going to love ❤️
Always watch your stuff
i like this look... ...a manual would put me in the mind of the Corolla XRS from 2004/2005 era... oh and... corolla hybrid finally for the US?? welp BYE-BYE prius👋🏾👋🏾😂😂😂😂😂lmao
I think Toyota take long to introduce a Corolla Hybrid to the U.S, because they don't want to kill the Prius, but I think it will still sell well because some people like small cars. I like fuel efficiency, on long distance driving like my yearly NY to Montreal trips I don't like to stop, so a Prius will let me do that, but never consider it because it to small a car for me, I just do not like small cars of those size. I made a none stop drive from NY to Montreal Canada once in my 2001 Corolla, but will not attempt it again, I was very low on gas near to empty when I get into Montreal and bad traffic. A Corolla Hybrid will allow me to do that with out concerns, but I think the 2020 none hybrid can sill accomplish that for me too that is none stop driving from point A to B.
KTown407 World thats why i said "era" I couldn't remember which years LOL, so I gave a generic approximate but thanks
Asy4life-67 I don't think it will kill the Prius because of the hatchback practicality the prius offers... ppl really love that
I think they are going to make prius all electric, thats why they shifted hybrid to the corollas. Just a thought.
Hey man, you did a great job with the video! Keep doing them!
Yes you are the best guy to test back seat room. 👍🏾 Keep Up the great reviews.
Superb review✌️
I own the Hatchback and simply love it! It’s not even 2 months old. But this sedan is sweet too. The styling is so modern and crisp. The comfort of the Corolla is bar none-much more comfortable than the Civic for sure. What I’m excited about is the Hybrid! When is it releasing?? That’s absolutely terrific!
The Android car play is coming. The Corollas will get an update soon enough. The seats are the best I’ve ever driven on too. The handling is smooth and the nimblest I’ve experienced. The suspension is amazing too! Can you tell I really love my car?
Thank you for all this new information on the 2020 Great insight 🤘👍
Great, informative, no BS review.
Unique durability, no direct injection only engines, no internal carbon build up.
Toyota focuses on what is important!
I wish that the Corolla XSE would have come equipped with the Camry 2.5L engine with a six speed. That would have been a nice sleeper like the 2005 Corolla XRS.
If we could get a new xrs that would be crazy awesome.
Yes.
Mike just buy camry
I don't know who the hell designed this car, but it looks so f'ing good

Damn this was an excellent review. Crazy informative and well presented.
I honestly enjoyed this review. I can't wait to have the opportunity of test driving this new (expensive looking) 2020TY Corolla.
I like the rear styling
Thanks for the very thorough review. Don't really care for the front grille of the new XSE, looks like they just slapped it on the front of the car because they couldn't think of anything better to use. I lease my cars every three years and am currently driving a 2017 XLE and have been very happy with it. Would have been lovely if you had included footage of the 2020 XLE, but you younger reviewers seem to lean toward the "sportier" models, while us "old farts" prefer our creature comforts. I have loved driving the Corollas over the past six years, but I'm leaning toward the "new" RAV4 for my next Toyota adventure!!
Great review!!!
The '20 Corolla's wheelbase is just 3" shorter than the 109" of my '12 Camry. Crazy.
2liter 40mpg....why not just put the camry engine there...2.5 liter 203hp 39mpg?????????.....if the 39 mpg of the 2.5 camry is ccorrect i dont understand why toyota is still manufacturing those smaller engines that are less efficient
They are probably cheaper to make or fit in the car better
It's cheaper
And it saves 0.5l space
2.0 will have better real world economy and probably to differentiate between Corolla and Camry
The 2.5 should be an option and the 1.8 is now completely redundant. There is absolutely no way the 2.5 costs more to make than the 2.0.
Great Review! This looks okay I guess...but the Hatchback looks awesome!!! I'll take the hatch with the 6-speed pleeeeasssse!
Slow
Kirk, I prefer the looks of this sedan over the hatchback. Sedan looks way sportier and sexier than the hatchback.
@@rightlanehog3151 Great point! Corolla sedan has 5 inches more rear legroom than the hatchback!
@@87elco67 modify bro
We can’t modify the ugliness of those new civics
Very good video! No fluff, just business. That's the way I like it.
Its an ugly car. Design sucks
Mike just ranked up in my "car review personality" leaderboards by going into that trunk. Watch out Sofyan, Mike's gunnin' for your spot.
Advenger Time sofyan is so biased al the time he sucks
JOSE DOMINGUEZ how is he biased? Because he doesnt love Toyota? He makes his opinions based on what the competition is offering. Toyota’s are for reliability, not styling and features so they are always not gonna do great in car reviews
I like the nose on the sport, but I like the hatchback
My dad has a 2018.. its nice.. it looks small but i sat in the backseat with the seat all the way back, and there's plenty of room.. all the safety driving features standard and led lights.. a nice packed little car
Very beautiful and detailed explanation of the features 👍❤️❤️ Love from Greece🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷! We order the 2021 anticipate till July 😬 because of covid🙄.
When did "agressive" become synonym with "sporty" as a positive quality?
Thanks for the first in depth review of this car (minus the driving impressions). It’s appreciated!
It looks very sporty and upscale! I really like it, especially those rims! 😍 Toyota really raised the bar with this one!
Good job. Very good video. Like the stick shift. Car looks great
Is this corolla actually a last generation bwm 3 series? : |
It’ll never dethrone the Civic that’s for sure, I have a 2016 touring & it’s way better looking, more standard hp & more hp with the turbo and more interior room. I’ve had 0 issues with mine. Corolla goes straight to rental fleets.
Edward Conner not In the reliability department 😂😂 goodluck with tht turbo engine when start giving u problems and the engine gonna wear out faster than the NA ones corola has cheaper to mantain and work on
Right! Everyone is like "but the Corolla is more reliable" Iike gtfo with that bs. My 2016 civic has been very reliable too, and definitely looks better than this new Corolla. Also the new tachometer digital lcd screen looks a lot like the civic 🙄🤔. I mean they gotta copy from the best I guess.
@@21vikk Your civic is 3 years old now. If every civic blew up in less than 3 years then Honda would be on the fast lane towards bankruptcy.
Dethrone the Civic? Corolla has always been above the Civic. Both are great cars, but Corolla takes the cake. Always has, and always will.
Indeed Josh luis, 21 Vikk & Anderson. It's always fine that their civics does have turbo and I respect civic variants as well, but man hey reliability doesnt comes only within 3 , 5 or 10 years we're talking about here it's way more and even the mileage. Turbo Engines(fancy stuff) just can't keep most of their span specially if your a maniac at some point.
Just stop comparing old&new Toyota/Honda and let's just enjoy both cars advantages, disadvantages of all modern electronic assist and hope they wont brake too soon. (the simpler or basic a car is the better)
Nice review
Good review. What you didn't mention, is the civic has all of this from a few years ago. So I'm not sure why it will take over the civic just because it came to date
The front looks very modern in today's standards
It'll dethrone the Civic in one simple way , RELIABILITY. 😁
Something the current gen Civic continues to struggle with unfortunately. 😕
Jordan Catcher really? I know a lot of people with them and they haven’t had very many, or no issues at all
Lol I own a 2016 first year model with no issues. Stop making shit up.
Btw. Toyota has to recall the new corolla hatch to fix the new cvt.
They had to recall the Camry for wrong sized piston rings. So wait a few months after release for this to get recalled for something.
People think Toyota’s have literally no issues. We owned a 2007 and 2011 Camry and they both burned oil like no tomorrow. The 07 only had 60k miles on it...
If you don’t believe me, go look up Toyota “Camry/corolla oil consumption issues”
@@Fadic4 , Which car company you know of that never had a recall? car manufactures will not always foresee problems in all of their testing until the products starts to operate in real world environment.....Honda make good cars to, they are my second choice when it come to reliable vehicles.
I bought a 2017 with the turbo 1.5 & will be trading it in soon. The oil dilution problem that's plaguing the CR-V is present in other models as well, including mine. There has been engine oil seeping from the valve cover & around the oil pan seal from day 1.
I've owned a number of Hondas over the years, but this one was screwed up when it rolled off the line.
S Paul yes. Please go sell it and get rid of it right away!
You know you still have the factory warranty, they take care of stuff like oil leaks right away.. did you actually go to the dealer or just came on UA-cam and complain..?
Nathan Jr does a great review all the time. For this class, I like this model in hybrid guise but I think an AWD model will be available down the line. My other car of interest in the new Mazda 3.
Kudos to TFL for giving Michael some camera time and reviewing a Corolla. Vehicle variety is good... and this is a great little car. He's not as good as the Three Stooges (Roman, Nathan, Andre) but shows potential to be a good reviewer. Thumbs up.
If you like the 'modern' look, give this a thumbs up!
yes big fan of xle
What new features does the l and le trim levels come with?
most importantly, the "modern" look doesn't have the silly low profile tyres the sportier one has.
Where is the option for the for where you liked the old look better. The Corolla has been ugly for a long time, the last time it looked decent was the early 2000’s I think.
Please learn more deeply technical stuff you are talking about.
6:30 you told hybrid CVT and 1.8 CVT are the same, BUT!!
A hybrid version has eCVT which has no belt in it. There's only electricity "continuously transfers" power to/from the wheels.
So basically there's three different ""CVT" types: classic one with 1.8 2ZR engine; the one with launch gear and electric transaxle.
CVT is for scooter not for car. This kind of CVT is benefit for Manufacturer not for customer.
Toyota seems to have the better cvt. Some of there priuses have gone over 200k with no transmission issues
@@animal16365 thanks. you are right. After I research, Toyota use the gears for take off or low speed when vehicle speeds is above 35mph then they shift to CVT. That is about engineering
First Corolla styling Ive really liked since '97
Just got SE today..Great car,great feeling!..Made a gift for a wife.She is happy now!..😃😆💯

It looks like a more like dramatic version of the 2011-2016 Hyundai Elantra.
My first car was a 92 Corolla lawnmower with 2 piece seatbelt. I wish I had never given it away. What a solid beater it was.
This was a decent review from this channel, not the usual opinionated nonsense! I'm gobsmacked! Toyota seems to be moving in the right direction these days. The only issue with the new 2020 Corolla is the CVT with a 1st gear. I have nothing against CVT's in fact I drive a car with one and I love it. Toyota got a little too complicated with this one and they seem to be having a lot of issues.
Looking forward to the Hybrid. 50mpg
John Smith has to b more Camry gets around that tbh
Anderson Rodriguez my corolla hybrid seems to average 60+ in mixed driving over the past 1000 miles. Also the Camry hybrid LE MSRP is nearly $6000+ more than the corolla hybrid LE, so highly unlikely anyone would be cross-shopping the two models. Prius however is only +/- $1000 starting price of the corolla hybrid but does not offer CarPlay. Interior room feels about the same. I traded a 16 Prius for the 20 Corolla Hybrid.
Gave you a thumbs up
As mentioned by others please note that the CVT cars use an articulated metal belt but the Hybrid uses an eCVT which is a very reliable planetary gear set working with the gas engine and 2 no. 3 phase Motor Generators MG1 & MG2. 6:27
I have been driving a 2007 Toyota Corolla S for the last 12 years. The only maintenance I've done is the usual oil change. Still running great. Bought a new '20 Toyota Corolla SE two weeks ago. Hopefully it will last as my 2007.
Got a 2005, 300,700 miles, all original equipment. Original belts and hoses! Awesome and dependable car. Also have a 2013. 86,000, solid as a rock.
I'm not a fan of the front-end. Love the rear.

It's amazing Toyota can keep it's fuel economy up without forced induction! Take notes Honda!
That’s because it’s not fast. The Honda Civic is fast and has great fuel economy. Forced induction can do wonders.
@@nmendoza1234 😆 Who cares if the civic is a second or two faster! It's not like you're always going to have an opportunity to drive fast all the time anyway. Try doing that shit in morning rush hour traffic and see what happens. I'll take this slower Corolla!

Either this or the all new Jetta SEL. The Jetta has better styling and lots more tech, better audio, better interior styling, much better MPG and a way better warranty 6 year bumper to bumper transferrable warranty all for a cheaper price. Toyota, well you get better build quality and standard safety but a higher cost.
the mirage g4 has 10 year 100k mile warranty cost 10k and gets like 55mpg highway. all cars are ugly these days your not impressing anyone with which bubble car you choose so it might as well be the cheapest most fuel efficient one.
Idk about better styling. The new Jetta exterior wise is kind of bland. Interior is debatable what I do like about the Jetta is the digital cockpit and the ambient lighting.

LIFTBACK umm I mean now hatchback is basically a new version of Matrix
It seems that any new Toyota hatchback will always have someone saying, "It's basically the new Matrix." This '20 Corolla shares absolutely nothing with the long-departed and mediocre Matrix - besides the Toyota badge.
Ken Howard Matrix wasn’t exactly wholly developed by Toyota either. Same body as the Vibe and Vue.
Why do you have the front seat angled back so far? That seems odd to me 10:40

The hatch is wayyyy better than this sedan, imo the front design is not suitable for the sedan.
I would 100% get the hatch but I wish I could get the front of the sedan on the hatch as I like that sporty appearance a whole lot more.
I agree, I wish this front end was on the hatch

I like the honesty in your review. The Corolla is the best selling car in history and so many reviewer's try making the Honda Civic seem superior. The Civic is a great car but so is the Corolla. I have a 2018 Corolla SE and i genuinely enjoy the car and the quality that went into it.
I would love to have the sporty style but i am not a fan of that grille.
