Here is some more information on roof tiles:
Painting a concrete tile roof can be a great way to refresh its appearance and improve its overall aesthetics. However, there are some important considerations and steps you should follow to ensure a successful and long-lasting paint job. Here's a general guide to help you with the process:
Clean the roof: Start by thoroughly cleaning the concrete tiles to remove any dirt, debris, or moss that may have accumulated over time. You can use a pressure washer or a scrub brush with a mixture of water and mild detergent. Allow the roof to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Repair any damage: Inspect the tiles for any cracks, chips, or other damage. Replace or repair any damaged tiles before proceeding with the painting process. It's crucial to have a sound and stable surface for the paint to adhere to.
Prime the tiles: Applying a primer is an essential step to ensure good adhesion of the paint and promote its longevity. Choose a primer specifically designed for concrete surfaces. Apply the primer evenly using a brush or roller, following the manufacturer's instructions. Allow the primer to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Choose the right paint: Select a high-quality paint that is specifically formulated for exterior use and suitable for concrete or masonry surfaces. Look for a paint that offers excellent adhesion, durability, and resistance to weathering. Additionally, consider choosing a lighter color that reflects sunlight and helps keep the roof cooler.
Apply the paint: Use a high-quality brush or roller to apply the paint evenly on the concrete tiles. Work in small sections, overlapping each stroke for consistent coverage. Pay attention to any crevices or gaps between the tiles to ensure they are adequately covered.
Apply multiple coats: Depending on the condition of the tiles and the desired color intensity, you may need to apply multiple coats of paint. Follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding the recommended drying time between coats.
Allow for proper curing: After the final coat, allow the paint to cure for the recommended time before exposing it to heavy rain, extreme temperatures, or other potentially damaging conditions. Curing time can vary depending on the specific paint product used, so refer to the manufacturer's instructions for guidance.
It's worth noting that painting a concrete tile roof is a significant undertaking and may require professional assistance, especially if you lack experience or the necessary equipment. Consulting with a roofing or painting professional can provide you with expert advice and ensure the best results.
Remember to prioritize safety throughout the process by using appropriate protective gear, such as gloves, goggles, and a mask, to protect yourself from any chemicals or fumes.

Could you explain the reasoning behind why you were drilling holes into the tiles at the top near the ridge line ?! Thanks for the great videos!!

@@Jonh707 A weep hole is a nail sized hole in the top ridge pointing of a tiled roof, they are made every 30cm, and are along the ridge pointing. These holes allow water to escape, as a result the ridge point stays dry. It is crucial that ridge pointing stays dry, because the bedding holding this part of the roof together is cement. Cement, although strong, is porous, which means it has lots of little holes in it, and as a result allows water to soak in. When water soaks into the concrete it accumulates and resulting in cracking and other issues.
When flexible pointing was introduced people assumed that weep holes would be redundant, because who wants holes in their roof? However this theory relies on the fact that the flexible pointing will uphold its integrity until the end of time. Flexible pointing manufacturers recommend that you still use weep holes, and we agree, we put them in all our tiled roofing

Thanks for sharing! How long will this last? Also, my roof's ridge caps don't have mortar sealant like that--they just overlap. I assume it's been that way since 1972 judging by the look of it. Why use the mortar seal?

If is don correctly it can last between 8 and 10 years and yes you need to fix beading and pointing before you paint roof .
By applying mortar to damaged or worn-out roof pointing, this process not only restores the roof's structural integrity but also enhances its aesthetics. Replacing damaged mortar joints helps maintain the water resistance of your roof, preventing water and moisture from penetrating the roof.

grinding old pointing for new pointing is purely cosmetic and does nothing to secure loose capping, to do it properly, all capping must be removed, cleaned and relaid with new bedding compound - be careful with these roof restorers as many take too may short cuts - also pressure washing is not recommended as it strips off tile surface and forces mold spores under the tiles and into the roof - recommend soft washing or low pressure clean which actually kills the mold and spores - takes more time but is less abrasive on the old cement tiles
