I've just binge watched this series for the first time and found it absolutely brilliant! What I love about your channel is the way you manage to make things without all the fancy tools, no dro, no mill (well, you have now :-) ) and you're re-using materials rather than spending a fortune on new stock which would make it easier. Long may this continue!
That must be the singularity best steam\compressed engine build I have ever seen. The design out of “nothing” but scrap, the vision, the imagination is unparalleled. And to cap it all, the motion and the “music” of the motion is simply wonderful. I could watch and listen all day long. To think that you had achieved this whilst battling with your awful health is so inspirational. I am in awe. 🙏👌👏👏👍😀
Without a doubt the best video of it's type I've ever seen. Bought back many memories of my thirty years in engineering. I used to run a shaping machine in the 1970s. Made by Invictus if I remember correctly. Hope you are keeping well.
Ace video. The rhythm of the air engine is like the rhythm of a shaper so perhaps that's the link. At the end I found myself intensely concentrating on the moving parts of the machine. Captivating.
Im really impressed, this is such a good example of what one can do if you put your mind to it. With limited resources and understanding you made this possible and its also a learning curve to me and everyone out there who want to try something of the sort. Thanx for showing this model😀
Very well done mate, I love your views and the way you work through a problem. Like all the other people who commented I hope your doing well, come back soon,
G’day Rusti, well done with the air motor, I knew you would make it work. I was calling out that cam won’t work with the sharp corners, round it out and you did. Cheers Peter
Awesome build, Rusty! I think I could watch that thing chooch for hours 😁! Thanks for the videos, hope things are going well with the bone marrow transplant. Cheers! 👍😊👍
That little machine there is pure genius. I love watching your stuff, and how you repurpose stuff. And yes, I agree that the sound of it operating is musical too!
Great series Rusty, you are an inspiration. I know you are probably still in hospital at this time so I want to wish you all the best for a successful operation and a speedy recovery. I hope your family get you home for Christmas, best gift ever.
That was ... satisfying? ... seeing it work that well, at that low of a speed. That sound is familiar, I think it mimics the sound of Dave Richards' steam driven line shaft system. I'd be tempted to build a second cylinder to couple to the first, synced at 180 degrees. It would probably run even slower. Hope this finds you doing and feeling well, and, as my brother always puts it, with "all the right numbers in the right places."
Amazing how soothing that sounds like a old big clock. And it looks great too! Another excellent job. Hope you will be back well and strong so you can continue to make more.
Best I can tell that machine runs about 60rpm. As it were as music it's about 60 beats a minute. Good techno start! I hope your doing well rusty. Sending positive vibes in your direction.
Hi again! I just watched this series and I noticed you were having a problem with the 16mm drill bit with the piece in the drill press. You may already know this, but if you turn the crank handle of the vise to the post of the drill press, it will help hold the vise steady. Also will stop the drill from ripping the vise out of your hand if the drill bit catches in the piece. Just an observation. Great work by the way!!
I saw a recommedation for your channel from one of Max Grant's episodes. I am glad I came here, I just finished this series as a starter. I really admire your imagination and skill to get things done with minimal tools. Well done sir. I am going to go back and see what other things you have posted up. I too wish you well in your recovery. I will be awaiting your return. cheers
Gday Rustinox, that’s a beautiful engine and the looks great, an engine that size would be quite a challenge to build and you nailed it, to run on 30psi is good considering the size, this was a fantastic series to watch, I throughly enjoyed every minute, thanks mate, cheers Matty
It runs beautifully Michel, I especially liked the cam profiling on the shaper. Great ingenuity and nicely executed making this project very entertaining. Take care, good luck with your endeavours and as always, cheers!
I have really enjoyed this set of videos. You are a great inspiration to me, No matter what is thrown at you as a problem you just turn it into a puzzle and solve it.Rustinox the Mentor strike again !!! Hope you are on the mend.
Hello my friend: I'm happy to watch your video, how's my friend doing? we are pleasing his return with great health. Once again I want to thank you for the stickers sent here to my country Brazil, I was very happy to have received this adhesive with great affection I will put in my pavel. Get well for you my friend big hug.
Great video as always!! I hope you are doing well and I think all of us in this community are looking forward to seeing you get back work and seeing you do more,,,,all in time. I would like to send you a hand wheel that I think will work on your shaper. I got it for my Bridgeport but it turned out to be the wrong thing and I really don’t have any use for it. I think it may work perfect for you with a little modification and giving it to you to be used, in my mind is a lot better than it sitting in my shop taking up space and collecting dust. Let me know how I can contact you to make this happen. Thanks as always, Eddie wheels 😬👍🧑🏻🦽.
Beautiful! I loved the unconventional setups - and the fact that you went BIG. This thing must weigh 30 kilos or more! Hope you're doing well - and I think you convinced me to try and build a steam engine myself ;P All the Best Adrian
I've really enjoyed watching this project come together. I may try something like that sometime. I've got a lathe, a shaper, a drill press and many hand tools so there's no reason for me to not do it. We're all looking forward to you getting out of the hospital and sharing many more videos.
Sounds lovely works really well, it would be a whole lot smoother if you were to use a bearing cam follower instead of having the valve rod directly in contact with the cam have a ball bearing on the end
Ey up Rusty what a great project, it turned out well. Hope your staying positive brother during your isolation, we are thinking of you and I will be toasting your health tonight with a very large gin and tonic. In the words of Kojak "who Loves yer Baby"

This one runs very well. I happy with the result.

That's nice, Richerd. Shapers are fun.
Wonderful music , so pleased that you gave us a little rendition at the end.
Our thoughts are with you and hope to see you back in the shop soon.

I really enjoy your channel. Thank you 😊🙏🏽. Ingenuity at it’s finest 👍🏻👍🏻

That little machine there is pure genius. I love watching your stuff, and how you repurpose stuff. And yes, I agree that the sound of it operating is musical too!
Amazing what you did there, it just took. Imagination. Like Michaelangelo seeing a statue in a block of marble.
Get well, stay safe. 🇬🇧😂
Awesome work
Hi Michel,
A great project... well done.
Take lots of care
Paul,,

Nice build Micheal! Happy Holidays!
Great result Rusty and it plays a nice tune 👍 Out of frame doesn't matter, we want you out of hospital.

Indeed, I know this little trick. It works well for tapping also.
Thank you very much for your input.
Excellent work. I love your style, using materials you already have (mostly). Well done. I wish you well. 🙂
G'day Rustinox, Absolutely flippin' amazing. I love it! I still can't get over your ability to "see" how it was all going to work.

Awesome that is so cool!
Beautiful little engine their Rusty you did really well . Is the compressor still in the neighbors bedroom ❓
I love it. Makes me want to stop messing around fixing the machines, and start trying to build my jet engine
How are you doing man? Here's hoping to see your Belgian wit again real soon.
it turned out very nice. Maybe someday I’ll be able to make one like this. Enjoyed watching. Thoughts and prayers coming your way. Take care Rusty
You're making me think of building a steam engine Rusty. Great way to do it. I hope all is going well in your new accommodations. Take care

Salut Michel,
J'espère que tout vas bien à l'hôpital mon mec.
That was a pretty cool, fun project. Upwards and onwards.
Greetings from Canada

Actually a good music machine me thinks.
Power plant for the marble machine X??? Just think, it's got it's own rhythm 😀
I hope you are doing better!

So it is a compressor, but reversed
LOL. A rotating depressor.
Ça vas mon frère? I am concerned
moi aussi
