In this video, I show you how to crochet a baby blanket using the waffle stitch. If you know how to do a double crochet stitch then you can make this pretty blanket.
You will need about 11 oz of 4 weight yarn in purple and about 12oz. for the white.
The fully written pattern is available for $3.00 upon request at my Facebook page link below. Just private message me. Payment is made through secure Paypal and my pattern is delivered to you by email on by Word Document with fully written instructions and a picture. Note:
I make only a swatch on this video with 24 stitches for demonstration, but you need to make a chain of 108 (width of blanket) to make an infant size blanket like mine in this video of about 31 x 31 including the border. If you want to make a wider blanket, then continue to chain past 108 to a number that is divisible by 3. Then to make the length just repeat rows 2 and 3 for as long as you want.
This blanket can also double as a Baby Play Mat by using it on the back side.
Basic Instructions:
R1: Foundation row is a Double Crochet stitch, one in each chain stitch across to end. Ch 3 turn.
(Ch 3 counts as a stitch in this pattern.)
R2: In 2nd stitch from hook do 1 Front Post Double Crochet. In Next stitch do 1 Double Crochet. *Then do 1 Front Post Double Crochet (FPDC) in next 2 stitches. Then do 1 Double Crochet in the next. Repeat from * across the row to end. Ch 3. Turn.
R3: In 2nd chain from the hook do 1 Double Crochet. Do 1 Double Crochet in the next stitch. Then do 1 FPDC in the next stitch. Repeat the pattern of (1 DC, 1 DC, 1 FPDC ) across the row to the end.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 to the length that you want your blanket.
Border: Place 1 Single Crochet (SC) evenly around the outside of the blanket using 2 SC at each corner. Join with Slip Stitch. Chain 3. Continue with 1 Double crochet in each stitch around the blanket. Join in top of chain 3. Ch 1. Then finish with a final round of SC in the top of each DC stitch to the end. You can choose to change colors or make a blanket in a solid color. This video instructs on how to change colors.
