The story doesn't work period outside of it being revisionist history, which means the film demands the audience bring things from outside the film in order for the story to work. Why is Sharon Tate in the film if not for us, the audience, knowing about the real history? How does it work within the internal logic of the film? Also, Brad Pitt's character murdered his wife, but is a good guy because he doesn't have sex with a minor? That's a low bar. ROFL. Then the film tries to shit on Bruce Lee with is just lame. A River Runs Through It is a beautiful film. I lost my brother recently and the themes that are playing out in the film really speak to me, but they have since I saw it when it came out. It's honestly in my top ten films of all time. I think the idea that it's "boring" is an unfortunate product of the era we live in where every film has to be part comic book film, even the dramas.

But the one where he DISAPPEARS BEFORE YOUR VERY EYES is 12 Monkeys. You forget it's Brad Pitt. You forget it's Pitt with Bruce Willis. That specific role really just made me see him more that women eye candy, but an excellent & very capable actor.
I often wonder if the powers that be held off on giving Bradd Pitt an Oscar because he was a little "too out there" or unconventional Ala Johnny Depp who also has been denied. Or was it because of his tabloid scandal plagued marriage to Angelina Jolie? Or were both put down as just "pretty faces" as their incredible good looks and sexiness made them seem shallow somehow. Pitt is a great actor who has dared to take on tricky risky roles as well as more conventional ones like Ocean's 11.
I'm a huge Brad Pitt fan, but I have never understood the love for Moneyball. I recently re-watched that movie to try and see what I missed and I still found it so boring and uninteresting. I'm a huge sports fan too, but I just thought that this particular subject matter was so dull for a movie plot.

i admittedly haven't seen many of his movies pre-Seven, but the main reason i always say he's a character actor stuck in a movie star's face is b/c there are so many beautiful people are sh*tty actors but he's not one of them. even if he's choosing supporting parts -- he chooses well. there is absolutely a skill to choosing parts and then executing on a high level.
What about "Spy Game" with Redford? That scene on the top of the building where Pitt goes off and flings the steel chair down into traffic, was powerful.

Se7en Snatch Fight Club Inglorious Bastards Oceans 11 You can't tell the story of his career without these performances. Also, and I know everyone has a film they love that the world hates, and if you enjoy classic films from the 40s, 50s and 60s, then you appreciate Meet Joe Black. It has 5 to 10 lines which have stuck with me my whole life and 5 scenes that I would stack up against any scene for dialogue.
You are not. I think the Ringer has thrown shade at it a few times, but I see at least one other person on here who had it on his list. I fucking *love* Troy, it's so good. Three of the best battle/fight scenes of all-time (they span the gamut: a big battle scene - when Troy takes the beach ahead of the entire army - a fucking fantastic one-on-one battle - Achilles vs Hector - and a great one that establishes Achilles' badass cred - Achilles vs Boagrias (sp?). The only other fighting scene I'd put up there in that tier is Dread Pirate Westley vs Inigo Montoya; maybe not technically as good as Achilles vs Hector - although it's close - but more satisfying because of the banter). And what a great cast too. That movie might not be as high a quality as some of his other stuff like Se7en, Fight Club, Moneyball, or The Big Short, but goddamn it's a fun fucking movie.

I’ve seen dialect coaches criticizing his southern accent in inglorious basterds, but I think they’re missing the point. Without brad Pitt as Aldo I don’t think that movie is as iconic as it is today. People will be quoting him for the next 100 years
