#lighttherapy #skin #health - Наука та технологія
I understand that this topic seems a little esoteric and I did title the video to cast a wider net but before dismissing it altogether, I invite you to actually check out the science presented. While some are small and need to be repeated, many are placebo controlled trials and some are meta-analyses of RCTs! I even warn agaist unbacked light therapies. Thanks.
A red/blue light on my face for 20 minutes a day was the ONLY thing that helped my pizza face acne when I was a teen. Light therapy absolutely can work in some circumstances.
Thanks. The green light part was surprising and of course many nuggets of information. You must have seen the detailed and long video on light by MedCram, I thought it was illuminating. Ha. How the mitochondria are stimulated to produce melatonin by near infra red light, which has a beneficial effect on immunity. For some reason I'm unable to comment but this reply is going through so I'm writing here. Thanks for the interesting and informative video. Violet light and myopia for example, who knew...
Thank you, keep bringing light to research like those, so we all can benefit from less myopia 😂
I didn't actually see the medcram video but it sounds like they covered some of the same stuff which is great :)@@deepakhiranandani6488

Not gonna lie I feel a little closed minded now. I saw this pop up and I asked "did april fools come early this year?" I had no idea light therapy had so many proven benefits. 😅
Light, yes. Particular colors, not so much. Blue blocking glasses are the rage. But if they were really blue blocking they would appear orange. Not just slightly orange. Really orange.
Went through the exact same process just a minute ago, you're not alone, we're both dumb ❤
Red light therapy was invented by NASA and tested on children who had dental surgery. It is the real deal. I kid you not. I learned this more than 10 years ago before all the gimmicks. People were building their own LED arrays. Fun times.

I've been doing infrared light therapy for my long covid, the first and only thing that has helped me a lot.
Would you mind sharing more information about this? Long Covid has been wrecking my life for now three years and counting
@@alfieboyyy376 Look up "MedCram infraredlight" here on YT and there are some valuable video essays from MedCram that made me dig out my moms infrared lamp and within a few weeks I went from not being able to walk up stairs and barely being able to lift a fork and knife to walking around 10k steps a day.
This was just my specific situation though and I assume my long covid heavily affected my mitochondria, it might affect other people in other ways.
Now I'm walking around 15k-20k steps a day and using the red light in the evening trying to build more healthy mitochondria. But after I walk those steps I still can't do too much, but I'm still improving week by week.

I have family members who swear by those different colored light things for painful joints. I've had infrared PT treatments in a clinic too, and he helps.
Mic is cute today.
I had psoriasis I think about 5 years ago. It started out with red dry splotchy patches on my chest and it started spreading over the course of the year. I think I was a little low on vitamin D and I started supplementing but it didn't go away until I went to the beach for a couple of days. Hanging out in the ocean and running around getting sunshine seem to be the trick and it totally vanished and hasn't resurrected since! I'm convinced it was hanging out at the beach and maybe a mixture of being in the ocean and sunshine or at least a heavy dose of sunshine.
Really enjoyed this one. A departure from your usual content, to be sure, but still science-y and intriguing. Thanks for posting!
Yeah, I was already looking into it so I figured why not? Glad you liked it!
too bad some of the studies show that white light didn't help....cause each color has a different benefit....I'll just go outside in the sunshine. It's got all the colors in it. Even if it doesn't help with the matters the separate colors can help with, i will get my vitamin D.

Interesting video!
My mother borrowed her friend's infrared (?) light and her hand arthritis went away after one session. She wants to save for one.
Arthritis is a degenerative bone condition. The bones didn’t heal after one session with a light treatment (infrared or not). I’m not trying to be mean, really, it’s just facts. I’m not anti infrared treatment either.
@@marysmith7765no, those are not the "facts". Arthritis means inflammation of the articulations(aka joints).
There are different forms and causes of arthritis. Sometimes it's just pain from inflammatory factors, sometimes it's due to chronic degeneration of the cartilage between the bones due to injury and wear and tear, sometimes it's due to serious autoimmune disease.
It can affect the bones in some instances, but it is not a "bone condition" or disease of the bones.

Been doing infrared light therapy for years. It's amazing that almost no one knows about it. People take their light interactions for granted.
Interesting! You know along a similar line but maybe opposite....decades ago when I first heard about Kirlian Photography I remember thinking at the time that some day I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't used as a diagnostic tool. Thanks for the video!
Whoah, so excited for this one!! ✨
Wow thanks. Super interesting Video.

This is so cool!!
This amazing information.
Oh I didn’t expect this but yayyyyyy I’ve been wanting to get a red light mask!
Bright sunlight is essential, and one thing that wasn’t mentioned was that those 40 minutes need to be taken from 8-11am standard time in order to ecru the benefits, as morning light is much brighter than afternoon light.
As a side note, when you changed the colour to a green filter, I instantly felt more relaxed, even though it looked weird. It was physically uncomfortable when you switched it back to normal. I hope there’s more research done on the green light effects.
Don't forget sunscredm though! I can't directly link any references but I'm pretty sure there's a couple of decent studies on the positive effects of being in an environment with a lot of green colour because it tricks your brain into thinking you are in nature
If you aren't able to get out between 8 and 11am (baker here don't finish till 10:30am), how much more time do you need to get the same benefit?
@@SgtTCBlue I’m not sure. I believe it might be necessary to get that peak morning light exposure for ideal circadian rhythm and to combat depression, as it’s quite different from other times of day. However, I’m sure 30 minutes is better than nothing. And if you live where they do daylight savings, then 10.30 DST is actually 9.30 standard time (which is the one that matters in this case).
Thanks!! Such a great overview of all the different types of light and their health benefits! I have SAD. My plan is to move to a sunny country 2-3 months per year when I retire.
I have it too. This winter I used a small light box called Happy Light. It didn’t cost very much and it has helped a lot.

Brilliant 🌞and enlightening 😎
I've been using red light for a couple skin conditions of mine and yes it has helped immensely. Better than anything else I've tried in the past decade. The red light helmet I got for hair growth hasn't been a miracle cure yet, but it clearly helps the overall hair condition and might have led to some growth.
So those guys putting holes in their skulls really were onto something!
They must have volunteered, which defies belief. On the other hand the mice, rats, etc have these invasive procedures forced upon them, and after the experiments, they are put to death. Mic should make a video of how science is advancing without the exploitation of other animals.🌱
It looks like you got the lighting better on this video, is that a coincidence? You're looking great man! And as always great content! I love getting those early infrared rays for intracellular melatonin production!
I'm not kidding though, it does look like your skin tones are spot on in this video. It might be the white flowers on your shirt are triggering the auto white balance. If you're using auto white balance... And you can lock in the white balance but if you have shifting light patterns coming through a window due to overcast and whatnot then you might have more challenges with correct color and exposure levels. It would be fun to fine-tune all of this with you. I should come pay you a visit and nerd out with you sometime!
Also in this video and I've noticed in a couple of other videos it looks like it locks up on a frame here and there, like just before the 5-minute mark. This reminds me of what happens when streaming and losing bandwidth from moving too much which increases data output and bogs down the bandwidth. So I'm curious, what on earth are you doing? Are you recording these live for some reason, are you streaming these somewhere before cutting them? Is it okay that I'm asking you these questions here? Lol
I'm surprised you didn't talk about infrared and intracellular production of melatonin in the morning setting you up for antioxidant protection against UVB midday. There's a really fascinating video on it I wish I could share with you but I don't think I can send a link and I don't recall what it's titled but I'll try to dig it up.
MedCram, he has two videos that you would really probably dig on light! I'm going to go watch both of those again today later :-)
@@VeganLinked Oh wow, i'd like to hear more on that too!
I read that in Europe they shine a red light in your nose for sinus infections. Is this true? I use a red heat lamp to feel better.

It's interesting because Jay Dinshah studied light and Left behind all kinds of incredibly cool nostalgic looking devices he created to experiment with light therapy. It's hard to discern how his family appreciates is working that area. But it is a fantastic subject. I think Dr Shelton also talked a lot about light therapy.
I have been using red/near infrared light for a few years for chronic insomnia. My sleep went from 4-5 hours per night to 8 almost immediately. It does cause nightly dreaming as well for me. I generally use this 10-12 minutes nightly with eyes closed.

Nice video
😅 yeah walking into Walmart definitely can decrease your lifespan, especially looking around at people and in their shopping carts 🤮
I've been using near-infrared and red-light therapy for almost a year and it has dramatically reduced my need for pain medicine. I have long COVID, stage 4 breast cancer, thyroid disease, Hashimoto's disease, heart failure, and Parkinson's. Despite all these health issues, I lead a fairly normal life except for my eyesight, which is affected by a film over my eyes, and I can't do any strenuous activity as it can cause cardiac arrest. I also have balance issues, which usually are only a problem when I go outside. One of the most noticeable benefits, of using the near-infrared/red light pad, is I find it is causing brown, scab-like growths to fall off my skin. I've had many of these growths for other 30 years and I'm delighted to be rid of them.
Since you made this video and that grounding video, could you do one about ice baths and wim hof method? I'm interest in the practice, but not convinced about the science behind it (risks and benefits). I am a lousy researcher, so I would love to see you summarizing that topic
21:24 I hope there will soon some studies about different light treatments for killing tumors and cancers.
Bryan Johnson wears that infrared helmet every morning for his hair. I'm like, can't you just go out in the morning and get a minute of infrared from the Sun? Wouldn't that be better, especially since it would positively affect your whole body instead of just the top of your head? It's my understanding the infrared from the Sun also reflects off of green so you could just basically stand outside and it's reflecting off of grass and trees and so on even if you're not directly in the sun. And it penetrates through clothing even but maybe not glass.
I think the problem with that is he is an 'anti-aging' athlete and the sun comes with UV rays which are photoaging. A full body infrared bath would be better than the helmet. There are also infrared face masks for skin. Interesting stuff.
last time I heard about infrared light is that it's emmited by the sun and reflected by greenery outside. So being outside in greener spaces makes you absorb lots of infrared light. It seems like infrared is the the best we can get
Green light therapy makes sense to me. It was a long time ago but I saw something about spending time in nature reduced migraine symptoms like frequency and severity. I couldn't quote a source though

Mic's got bald vegans across the world googling light therapy for hair loss now, there go the prices!📈
Eh, it was already a trend I think, the helmets are being advertised all over. Especially for anyone in the hair loss community, they've probably been onto it for a long time.
warm sunny climate. exposure early and late in the day. much less so during the middle of the day.
if you want to know HOW. "The application of red light (600-810 nm) is absorbed by the enzyme cytochrome c oxidase, which is located in the unit IV respiratory chain of the mitochondria." It literally boosts the performance of mitochondria which are the powerhouse of the cell. The leading hypothesis is that the photons dissociate inhibitory nitric oxide from the enzyme.
Can you do a scientific based video on solfeggio frequencies?
How can we know what sources of different colored light are more legit than others? Is it just any green light (like a lamp shade), or is there more to the specific wavelengths used in the studies?
This does take a bit of research. The 'LLLT / Low Level Laser Therapy' helmets and wands with infrared are pretty widely available by credible companies (and some not so credible ones). Also, the narrow band green light is also available even as cheap bulbs on Amazon which is maybe hit or miss but is 520 nm (www.amazon.com/Neporal-Migraine-Spectrum-Non-Drug-Equivalent/dp/B0BYSPBJQT/ref=asc_df_B0BYSPBJQT/).
Otherwise it is the $300 Allay Lamp by the company that did the study...convenient lol. My guess is there are also some light therapy clinics in certain cities but maybe people need to start more.
It’s not particularly surprising, as we know the benefits of periodic sunlight exposure. Fascinating to consider the ability to optimize what wavelengths we’re exposing ourselves to.
Reminds me of in-door hydroponics or other technological attempts to grow food in a controlled environment, and they have found out under which light varying plants flourish best, so they adjust it depending on the plant, growth stage and what result you're looking for.
I changed my desktop wallpaper to just solid green after watching this
I was thinking this😆
Yes I've known this for awhile now... I'm working on myself to get to 5d and also cure my diabetes..
OK, you've triggered my cognitive dissonance. I'll read through these with healthy skepticism. Yes, I do have f.lux but mainly I like it so my laptop won't be so jarring when I can't sleep. And no question that SADS is real. Otherwise, ... I'll reserve judgment until I read the studies.

What are ur views on chakras, energy healing, reiki, grounding ?
Sounds logic thinking in plants taking the sun light for nurishment, so our cells take diferent kind of lights to do the same
I did research a few years ago on electromagnetic interference and light pollution which might interest you since 1970s it has gone up exponentially. It showed there is biological radiative effects to constant exposure to artificial light. I think the practice of earthing discharges the excess electricity that builds up in our body. Bare foot on the ground, and bare head in the natural sunlight, seems to restore the delicate electrical balance that our brain, heart, nervous system needs. It could contribute to issues with disrupted circadian rhythm, arrhythmia of the heart, nervous system tick disorders like tourette’s and parkinson’s. Scientists found that our body generates its own electromagnetic field, like a bubble around us, just as the earth does. It needs to be in balance like any magnetic charge.
Look up biophotons next

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I'm definitely an "embrace the darkness" kinda girl 😂
🤘
So, the sun pumps out all sorts of wavelengths of light and then our atmosphere filters it in various ways...
Too much sunlight makes for bad skin... Any studies on optimal amount of light on skin each day? From like April to November I try to get 10-15 minutes on each side of my body at the height of the day. No sun block (maybe some olive oil).
April to Sep, really
I don't know what wavelenghth the lights in Walmart are, but they really mess with my senses.
It's supposed to mimic the brightest daylight, bright white, trending towards blue light. The use of these lights in these types of places is meant to keep their employees awake, alert and productive. It simulates the light of the time of day we would be more active as humans. It can feel like it messes with you because it can disrupt part of the way we regulate our circadian rhythm, our internal clocks, that tell us when to awake, when to rest, depending on the light we are exposed to throughout the day.
What makes me very skeptical and hesitant to this therapy is that the safety and negative health effects are unknown.... Exposing my body to light as therapy could have detrimental effects that wouldn't turn up until later. Is the risk worth it?
