Are you ready to be a wizard? Vegan buffalo wing-ardium leviosa? Expecto patro-YUM?!
Also I noticed UA-cam is hiding links more on mobile so here is the Complement link for those that want it: bit.ly/CompMIC
Levosia
Complementum!
❤️🪄💪
Can you do a SpectraCell test versus InsiderTracker blood test? I got both but only the spectra cell showed a vitamin c deficiency and an amino acid deficiency 🤷♀️
Thanks for making me smile with your wigs and jokes.
You're a wizard, Horseradish!
Were they saying that the black tea & hibiscus teas worked *without* the cinnamon? Or, was that with the cinnamon? 😯❓☕️🤷🏻♀️☕️❓😯
first the light therapy, now dark arts. loving this direction
Haha!
Yay almost 400K. Way to go Mic. For those new to the channel I recommend going back to the archives. These newer videos are great but the ones that were coming out every week 7 years ago really helped me in my whole food plant based journey. Mic the Vegan has a huge library of researched based nutrition based videos on almost every topic you can think of. Keep up the good work.
Same here, Mic the Vegan was a massive part of why I went vegan with confidence.
That slapping commercial was hilarious 😂😅😂
I just started my journey of plant based eating. I'm so excited
Welcome aboard! In addition to the fact that it's better for the animals, it's also a really interesting and rewarding process of discovery. New facts, new meals. I went plant based quite a while ago (and was vegetarian for many years before that), and I'm still learning cool new things. Have fun! 😃
👏👏👏🌞
Good ! Try to eat a balanced WholeFoods plant-based diet as much as possible. Tofu, tempeh, seitan, nutritional yeast, vegetables, beans, chickpeas, lentils, healthy fats from nuts, seeds, and avocados, grains, wholegrain pasta & rice, whole fruits (not juices) etc. And don't see it as a journey; this is a buzzword of all ex-vegans; do it for the animals😉👍
Welcome my friend!! So excited for you too!! 😊🌱✨
PS: don't forget to take your B12 or a multivitamin. I never had a cold in years; keeps the immune system strong.
“Don’t be a stupid ex vegan” 😂
I normally skip the sponsored products, spotted the wigs and went back.
Glad I did, was so funny and this would make a great advert 😂
I bet that broccoli sprouts would help with that since they are so high in antioxidants and other benefits
Best commercial I've seen in a long time😂
I almost skipped it, but saw that wigs were involved and went back to watch. Totally worth it.
Me too, i love it
Mic said I could.
😂
I loooovvveeee the slapnskit, totally awesome! And did add a smile to all the awesome info you always offer. Thank you!!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Kind of a return to the humour Mic was doing when he started this channel. Good stuff.
I’m making a trip to my local Ethiopian restaurant tonight where I will be having a cup of their Ethiopian tea which is a mix of five different spices, including star anise and cinnamon. I don’t remember all of them are but when I drink that before I eat, I don’t get drowsy after dinner.
This is all fascinating. My wish (to make life more enjoyable) would be for our species to only consume healthy foods, no matter the 'event'. I personally hate eating at restaurants; I hate attending 'events' and all the rest of it, reason being, I never feel 100% after these things. My favorite place to eat: my home. :) I found it interesting how greens, etc. curtail the negative effects... that's something that I always do when forced to go to a restaurant, I order a huge salad of some sort. :)
👍Eating at home! Just about to "tidy"😳the kitchen.. in preparation for the next creation.🤔😋🤣
Thanks to Dr. Gregor's research I've been eating chlorella or berries before I eat plant based junk foods for years. I also drink Hibiscus. This is the way🖤
This is the way...
As an autistic person, it can be very difficult for me to avoid processed foods when some are my safe foods that I fall back into eating when I have to.
I eat a lot more whole foods than I used to and always feel better when I do. But sometimes when I’m overwhelmed or in a sensory sensitive state it can be difficult to eat anything at all, so I will fall back onto a processed safe food over not eating.
Progress, not perfection! We neurodivergent folks do what we can do.
My hack when eating out is lemon water as my drink.
Hi jjjones, I'm interested what is your rationale for lemon water?
Citric acid?
Your description of tea sounded like me explaining what tea is to my 4 year old lol. He calls it hot leaf water
Simplicity & infusiasm go a long way!
I add a lot of cinnamon to my morning coffee, and in my tumeric tea. Glad to know it's helpful for oxidative stress.
I add rice vinegar to almost every savory dish I eat. :)
I eat tons of almonds and walnuts. Yay!
Im going to be making a "beginner's understanding" video on oxidative stress, as my first official long form youtube video. I've already got most the script down, and watching this video has me pumped to finish the script and get to recording.
Thats great but I don’t know how effective rice vinegar would be, Mic mentioned benefits of applecider vinegar
My wand is made of mushroom and broccoli with a carrot heart string
🤣🤣🤣 hahaha !!!
The commercial 💚👍
I can see Lindy in the background slapping you with Compliment via the glass in the furniture 😂
Really nice... THANK YOU!
Love the ad sketch! I also loved that I could predict a few of these compensatory suggestions cos I'm a Nutrition Facts fan, ha! Thanks for posting 🙂
😂🤣😆😭🤣😂 💥SLAP!💥“Don’t be a stupid ex-vegan!” HAAA! I freaking love it!!! 👏👏👏
Great video, Mic! As always, I appreciate your research, helpful information, and humor! ❤
This is great. I had a lapse in judgment last week and bought a bag of vegan gyoza and I can't not eat them! So now I'll just eat a big romaine salad first 😅 And then avoid the freezer section for a few months...
😂
As soon as I saw this video I clicked on it. Then I stood up from the couch and went in the kitchen listening and the first thing I grabbed was an apple. As soon as I finish lo and behold you recommended an Apple. 🍎 Heating my frozen Ezekiel bread now to make a yummy Black bean burger with romaine. I'm glad you mentioned romaine too because it's one of my all-time favorites. I can eat an entire head!
Yeah postprandial lipemia should be talked about more
Thanks! The Burger King comment was awesome.😂
I run so I'm glad I got that benefit.
MAJOR THANKS!
First! Still watching the video... I'm thinking about how the other day I heard that eating a salad first affects blood sugar spikes. This may be mentioned here... yep! You always address things on my mind.
NICE! I am even more impressed by the first to FINISH the video :P
@@MictheVeganCan you do a SpectraCell 🩸 blood test vs InsiderTracker 🩸 blood test I am curious if you get wildly different results.
Lol I think I may have been first or among the first for that also. I was just thinking of blood sugar spikes yesterday. Other types of spikes are really interesting also. I'm eating a salad a day. It's just 5oz. I can probably do better but it's very satiating at 5oz. Along with tons of carbs from grains, beans, and potatoes. I don't count carbs. I do try to eat them after the salad though. If I remember
The video I didn't know I needed
I have a slap related injury now. The disclosure came after.😮
That commercial tho 💀
Usually I skip but this was fire
Thanks!
i've done this many times. if i was going to eat garbage or drink alcohol, i would have something fiber and antioxidant rich to blunt the damage. still bad. just less bad.
Another well researched video. ❤
1:34 this is super effective (for me 😅)
Seeing the chart showing the decrease in arterial function and increase of inflammation. Really appreciate this 👍
I blunt my vegan Shin instant noodles by adding kale, leeks and tofu 😅
I use chewing, fasting, matcha tea, sparkling water with lemon juice, walking.
We know how you came up with this topic. It's girl scout cookie season.
Thanks Mic, that's what I do, I have a kale, banana and spinach smoothy with herbs and spices before anything else, well I am a dark pisces ❤
Ok, that was one of the best sponsor ads I've seen in a long time 😂
Quite timely! I have to go to a conference for 5 days starting tomorrow and though I've told them "vegan" we all know how TERRIBLE the genpop is at planing vegan meals. I can take some kale powder and eat lots of apples.
Great video! Thx
Study in a refugee camp. That's some dystopian shit wtf...
Concept, thumbnail, title 👌🏻✨✨✨✨
As you get older, you see more and more the effects of inflammation. It always makes you feel bad. And it's not fun to feel bad. So whey do people do it.
addictions hell of a drug ( meat fatty foods)
Because they can’t tell exactly what they’re doing that is causing the inflammation. Also they think the tire around their middle is fat, not mostly inflammation.
Looking good with that stubble my man ❤
Super informative, thanks Mic!
Most of the time, before I go out to meet friends at a restaurant, I will have a 1/4 cup of blue berries and some walnuts.
Glad to see that it likely helps, but even vegan restaurants are often just terrible for you, almost always fried this, something else covered in a fatty sauce that, refined sugar, etc.
Awesome video!
Awesome Thanks!
I like the silly humour in the advert!
Thanks for the great content! And the part about fat spikes in our blood is so original and important. I love how you explain both the mechanisms AND the health outcomes (more heart attacks after a fat-heavy meal).
OMG 😱 I'm literally munching on an apple 🍎 right now!!!
This is awesome and I haven’t even finished the video simply by attempting to ameliorate negative health effects.
I need to rewatch this because there's so much information here. But I'm wondering if the strategy for me after a binge eating episode (which I have now and then, and worry me health wise) could be a smoothie with some of the things you mention. Greens, an apple, some nuts and berries, some spirulina.
I would find it super easy to have some powdered juice before (or is it after?) a meal if I had this health issue. Fantastic! Almost any fruit can be purchased organic and freeze dried nowadays. I think one would just have to remember to do it or to take it with, when going out.
Thanks for the info.
Minimizing fat is a general rule. Most types of fats are inflammatory and cause low-grade endotoxemia when consumed. This effect is made worse when paired with sugar as the fat will slow down the digestion of the sugar creating prolonged blood sugar spikes (i.e. diabetes). Doctors like Neal Barnard have managed to successfully reverse type 2 diabetes just by minimizing fat content and adopting a WFPB diet. Dr. Esselstyn has done the same for heart disease.
$41 shipping and tax to Canada for Complement 😭😭😭😭
This was interesting, fun, funny as heck and really useful. Thanks.
After living on a clean low fat vegan diet for 2 years, I learned to “feel” meals. It’s like a second sense of taste. These days I will occasionally eat badly. To reduce how badly I feel, I have a few tricks: drinking green tea in place of coffee/soda, taking apple cider vinegar in water between meals, eating about 5 spoonfuls of black beans, subbing meat with tofu/mushrooms/etc. I also space my exposures to bad food with days of healthy eating. On workdays I eat an unsweetened oatmeal with nuts, berries, and spices, a big bowl of steamed vegetables, snack on apples, then beans/grains for dinner. I figure I don’t have any fun at work anyway, so eating clean neither enhances nor detracts from my day.
Yet another reason greens are good. Nice.
Lmao @ the ad!!
I recently watched a clip advising to increase b1 if on a high processed carb diet.
In parts of the Middle East it is normal to have a generous salad alongside every meal of the day.
When exactly in the western diet did a salad become a tiny bit of lettuce, a slice of cucumber and tomato?
Interesting that green tea didn’t help much. I think I once heard that it helps lower blood sugar, when you drink it while eating a cake for example. I wonder if coffee is better? 🤔
HELLO! Can you do a video on your skin health as a vegan where you are not wearing makeup so we can see what you really look like? Thank you
I know two vegans and a vegetarian whose eyes are dark and sunken.
I almost always eat something healthy before eating crap food. Yay
ive been watching your videos for 8 years now. thank you so much for the work you do! youre an important recourse for us vegans and we love and appreciate you
I just stop eating at all restaurants, best away to keep the weight down, No processed food at all,
Excellent!
Hi! I suffer from vertigo recently, what would be a good diet to prevent attacks? I'd welcome a video on this subject. Thanks.... This is a great video!
Talked to your GP yet? Vertigo may be caused by all sorts of things so it's hard to say if your diet is the sole cause
@@ScheveSneeuwSchuifSchep You're right. I'm looking into it now. Thanks
Yes, go to your doc, physical therapy works great for vertigo, you’ll feel worse initially, don’t be discouraged. Shoulder/ neck tension can make it worse.
The commercial 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When hubby and i know a bad meal is coming we always have 1-2 tablespoons of psylliumhusk a few hours prior. I feel like this helps, though i don't have actual proof.
Ahahah just the thumbnail is so funny ! 😆
I watch about 99% of your videos and really enjoy them...but this one is going to be saved under my "Favorites" - both for all the great information that speaks directly to my insulin resistance, even though I eat vegan, but this was also your funniest sponsor brand bit yet! I couldn't stop laughing! If I hadn't just recently ordered Complement with your 15% off code, I would have definitely done so after watching this! 👏😂
Hey Mic! It would be great if you would do an update on H5N1 avian influenza in light of the latest transmission from bird to cow to human. Thanks for considering!
I would make sure you get ahead of the curve, wear a n95 mask or maybe 2 or even better 3! Also stay 6ft a part if you can! No need to risk anything.
I had no idea romaine was that powerful! Good to know, especially since it’s used often in restaurant salads.
Request!: Just starting this video. :) So, as a vegan (an older vegan) I'm concerned about the ELASTICITY in my SKIN. I've noticed new and disturbing changes in the past couple of years. Is it true that some topical oils can stimulate collagen and elastin growth? Now this video, which so far is very useful info for me since I've been waking up in the middle of the night, probably due to spikes and dips in blood sugar. TY!!
Oh yeah, the vinegar's been a good one! I bought it after watching that video but haven't used it much lately.... Hmmm!
Check out Dr Greger's latest book 'How Not to Age. You can probably get it from the library, and there's a whole section on skin aging. All science based, of course.
@@EllieKennard Thank you, I will!
carrot juice
@@secundusytp4517 I make it myself. Question is about topical oils tho.
😂 those skits!
You should do a video on how Allulose blocks sugar absorption. Its a great hack if you wanna have something sugary & not have the bad effects.
Of course it’s not ideal to have something sugary if you haven’t eaten anything but for example. I’ve had a homemade Frappuccino on an empty stomach & had a stomach ache after from all the sugar but i had a little lemonade mixed with allulose before eating a whole Costco soft serve ice cream on a empty stomach & I didn’t get a stomach ache
9:05 "Side effects may include but are not limited to: Laughing all the time while the camera is rolling because that's what we pay you for Susan"
It’s more about what you don’t eat then eating superfoods and junk foods to have better health, Carbs FTW! 💪💪
3 year vegan, Thank you for this needed topic!
I want a whole video of Mic acting out ex-vegan excuses. Please include the best line from that one parody video, "All my pork rinds are ethically sourced." 🤣
The wigs...🤣
So you're saying… just eat like I do, and don't worry about the 3-4 meals a year that might not be that great for me.
I have found V-C to work for me quite well. Of course, it's another antioxidant so why not?
1:10 Ameliorate? Are you a Vowsh fan?
i liked for the ad
Mic, you are adorbs, still.
If you are alone and neglected, or don't have friends or a "sense of belonging" or if you have unaddressed childhood trauma, or any sort of emotional pain... then it doesn't matter how healthy you eat. You could eat the most perfect diet, and do the most perfect amount of exercises, and it won't matter at all. Your body and brain will be ravaged by the lack of love and support and belonging and friendship. Depression destroys the body and disregards any speck of a healthful thing you can do for yourself.
@Homie look up how loneliness can kill you. how social isolation shrinks the brain. there's so much evidence on that. Healthy food choices won't protect you from the damage of that emotional trauma.
Vinegar is great
This is unrelated but your skin always looks super nice and you look very youthful and healthy. I always think this whenever I view your videos. Could be genetics could be your diet, lifestyle, could be all three. Either way you look great !
And filters...
@@canaliculus LMFAOOOO
So I wonder if polyjuice potion would work as well. As long as you transformed into someone vegan, of course. 😜
Beautiful ad. XD
How do you measure your blood fat levels after eating?
Love the slapskit! Thanks for the laugh & the info!
So, what's the issue with a normal spike in blood sugar after eating again?
Isn't that normal body function that's evolved for millions of years?
Actually watched your ad because it was funny
Like your outfit Mic. I love monochrome
Is here the entrance for dope commercials?
