Not many Americans appreciate that in the UK we normally have suppressors on all our rifles, from .22 to full calibre 308 etc. If you forget to specify a suppressor for any new calibre that you are applying for on your licence, the Police licensing authority usually remind you to add it. Here it is regarded as a necessity under Health and Safety as head mounted hearing protectors do not always protect the hearing in all conditions. You cannot hunt deer on crown or forestry commission property without a suppressor fitted. We have also been able to purchase integrally suppressed shotguns for over 50 years. A popular model is an integrally suppressed Mossberg 500 in 410, 20 or 12 gauge.

You know what...you just made me realize why suppressor ownership in the "freedom land" is so expensive. It's related to health and safety. This shit might as well be just tacked onto our stupid fucking health insurance premiums. Why own a simple suppressor when I can simply buy $200 electronic earmuffs that allow me to hear without damaging the hearing of anyone around me? God damn this stupid country is so fucking selfish even with it's biggest problems!!!!
Edit to add: We can let people shoot up schools all day long, but fuck me if I want to plink and hunt semi-quietly.
The more I think about it the more this stupid shit just enrages me.

Pro tip: put a 19 lb recoil spring on your Glock 19 and that will delay the slide action by a little bit. It’s like going from carb to H buffer in an AR. It’ll give you a lot quieter performance. I did this on my Glock 19 with my SilencerCo 36M and it is insane! It’s far quieter

This is a great video for anyone considering a suppressor. I bought a suppressor from the Silencer Shop for my 9mm Walter PPQ. It took about 10 months for me to get my suppressor. The actual sound suppression is about 30 dB. When I bought a threaded barrel for the Walther it came with a stronger recoil spring with instructions to use that spring when shooting with a suppressor. Using a 147 grain bullet I had issues with the action so I went back to the original recoil spring. You will get more blow back gasses with a suppressor so wear glasses. The Walther is my primary home defense weapon so if I had to use it inside the sound unsuppressed would degrade my ability to hear. One more thing, I think a suppressor works better on a gun were the barrel does not move.

    • @mikesanservino8306
      @mikesanservino8306 2 роки тому +1

a properly designed suppressor will greatly reduce any gas blowback into your face. You are correct, barrels that do not move during the firing cycle are better hosts for suppressors UNLES you use a booster in conjunction with your suppressor on a handgun. Look at GSL Technology suppressors. GSL doesn't do marketing hype, just excellent engineering. The owner of GSL, Greg Latka, has forgotten more about suppressors than most in the suppressor market will ever know. He's been in the field for 40+ years.

Decibels (tenths of a bel) use a logarithmic scale. One bel is a 10x difference in loudness, so 20 decibels is a 100x difference. Going from 118db to 98db is not a 20% reduction, it's a 99% reduction in sound level. Unfortunately, your ears perceive loudness on a logarithmic scale too (with a different base), so a 99% reduction probably sounds like a 75% reduction in loudness.

I can see there is some difficulty aligning the threads initially whenever you attach it. Depending upon the thickness and the angle of the initial slope of the lead in to the thread, in both or either of the interfacing devices, you can experience a drastic change in the feel of the threads engaging. Familiarity with your specific equipment does play a part too. Having said that, altering the machining profile of the lead-in to the thread in specific ways can allow you to effectively counter rotate the thread interface to align the thread lead-ins on both devices without excessive wear and tear to either device.
To put that into more familiar terms or experience.Take a standard bottled beverage with a resalable cap. Remove it then place the cap at the end of the bottle while turning it the wrong direction. When the threads are properly aligned it will jump slightly then fall, allowing you to tighten them without misalignment. If the thread profile on the barrel and/or suppressor is designed well with a minimal, but tactile jump on an initial counter-rotation alignment step, you should be able to thread a suppressor reliably every time without excessive wear on either device.

*DB's are measured using a logarithmic scale*
That means a reading of 100db is *1,000,000,000 louder* than a reading of 10db.
If a suppressor can take you down to the 90db range, that's good because that's about the same as city traffic.

Depends on the gun and ammo. 300 blk with subs probably wouldn't. 45 ACP with most cans is around 130 decibels. Kinda a moot argument because doing anything fairly loud indoors can cause hearing damage. Most people shooting a lot with suppressors would be shooting outdoors you aren't going to a public range without ear pro anyway. Shooting 9mm subs. 45 ACP is already sub. and 300 blk subs outdoors is perfectly hearing safe with many suppressors.

There are suppressors that are nearly silent, at least to TV silent. They have an endcap swipe that blocks the escaping gasses. When used with subsonic ammunition, the first couple of rounds will be relatively silent (like TV suppressors). Unfortunately, ATF has designed the swipes as themselves as suppressors. You can buy the Ruger 10/22 with the suppressed barrel, shooting suppressed ammunition, is nearly (TV) suppressed out of box.

@@neilarellano8470 Thanks!! I bought the Rugged Obsidian 45, so the booster needed is included, but I’ll be buying another booster for my 9mm guns, and a fixed barrel adapter for my fixed barrels. I’ll be running it on a FN FNX Tactical 45, Glock 30, Glock 34, S&W Shield Plus, and fixed barreled 22’s, 9’s, 38/357. So, you think I should get new recoil springs for the Glocks? I’ve watched TONS of videos and nobody has ever said anything about changing out the recoil springs, but it seems to me like I would need a heavier spring because of the increased pressure. They sell a package with a bunch of different spring weights, and a metal guid rod, so it won’t be too hard to find the right spring weight.

@@danfromthesouth5352 so, my experience with my cans (Kinetic Suppressor ACE and Wizard) and my booster (made by Liberty Suppressors) is that the booster absorbs so much of the cycling energy the stock springs tend to be too stiff for the gun to cycle properly (the casings don't eject). I then went ahead and purchased Glock Recoil kits from NDZ (I got the 11lbs kit for my 17 and the 15lbs kit for my 19x) and they seem to be cycling subs and supers perfectly now.
Check their stuff out; the Glock Recoil Kits come assembled and ready to replace your stock recoil spring assembly (it's totally worth it).
If running with a booster and reduced power springs doesn't allow you to cycle properly, check your internals for binding/rubbing.

@@danfromthesouth5352 by the way, the term "kit" I mentioned is actually called "guide rod assembly".
They're only about 25-30 smackers so they're not too pricey.
