Great video Nikki, love your system. It is so true that you need to have wills and how your parents want things handled. My Mom passed away and my Dad passed three months after her, it was so helpful to have everything already taken care of. Also a fire proof box is a must have in my opinion, you just never know what may happen, it's such a relief not to have to worry about your important papers and personal information.

Thank you speaking about the will. I’ve been saying this for years but could never get everyone on the same page. My family irritate me at times so I give up. My sisters both have illnesses and they are the ones who I have the most trouble talking to about wills. I am going to have a family meeting with some food, lay everything out, and start this process. It’s been too long since I tried. It hasn’t been done yet.
I wish I could be half as organized as you! I just can't seem to get it together. Maybe if I keep watching it will hit me. Lol
Helen Mallazzo I used to be messy and not very organized. I would try to add one habit at a time. It also helps if you just put a timer on and clean just for 1-2 Min as starter

Hello Nikki thanks so much for your wonderful video just got a chance to watch this one and advice is awesome thank you so much I think I'm going to start my taxes binder that is such a great idea I just have mine inside of envelopes and stored into a plastic box not box but the container thank you so much that was inspiring not just for me but for me to help my mom and sisters as well
What would be so helpful is if you would put on your blog the titles of the inserts of each of your binders like your vacation binder you had an insert called tickets. Is that possible? Once again you are an amazing woman! God has truly blessed you with so many talents.

Nikki, I use binders too. But not for everything. Other things are in hanging files. However, I love your categories and your system better than mine.

So true, even young people need to talk to family about what to do if you die. I'm dealing with Mom & Dad & working with rest of family. It is a huge amount of work when loved ones refuse to talk about these things which is how my parents were. You need to tell children exactly what they will be getting, why, and work out equitable cash, etc ahead to avoid family fights later. (Not hat my family is fighting ... I feel very blessed that my siblings aren't this way, but some of the stories at work I've heard are so very sad.)

AtHomeWithNikki I was wondering if you could do a video on how long to keep copies of papers. You stated that you keep your Tax papers for 10 years. My husband and I have been trying to figure out how long we have to keep certain documents. It would be so helpful if you could do a video on this subject or if you have a list that you could put on your free printables page on your website please. I really love all your videos. hi Nicky. Is your binder cabinet fireproof? I keep wills, birth certificate, passports and mortgage papers. all important papers in a fireproof box that locks.

This was such helpful and valuable information. I love the binder system. I think this would work much better than a file system especially for me since I'm an out of sight out of mind kind of person. I do have notebooks with some information but would eventually like to switch everything to the binder system. This has nothing to do with the video but where did you find your mirror that is behind you? It is gorgeous!

Nikki, I can't remember what video it was but you opened a drawer and it profiled some lovely frosted binders where you had some teal designs inserted on the spines, where did you buy those binders?

Could you do a tutorial on how to create your binder side labels (on Word)? I'm really struggling with getting the correct size for my binder spines (1", 1 1/2" and 2").

I wish I had taken your advise when I first saw this video, instead I did nothing partly because I knew my mother didn't want to tell me her business so I didn't push the matter. Now my mother has just days to live, she cannot communicate with me anymore and I now have the stress of the legal procedures and the emotional stress to the point where you cant think straight. Such a good idea to your ducks in a row as they say in the UK.
