Fixing the Ventura's WORST side! New quarter panel install
Вставка

- Fixing and replacing the rusty metal on the passenger side of our 1972 pontiac ventura sprint project car. After a 40+ year slumber this car suffered some serious rust and deterioration. We slice and dice the passenger side of the car in preparation for new wheel tubs, trunk extension, and quarter panel. We also battle some examples of terrible reproduction sheetmetal fitment. Are cheap panels cheap quality?

Hatch I like the way you go at it. You are honest and up front. Most of us guys and gals don’t have the time or the finances for the Rotisery restoration we just would like to have a nice driver we fixed in our own garage like you are going for in the Ventura
I enjoy watching you work. You remind me of me when I was your age. Best of luck with your projects.
Great work.. I always appreciate your hard work and honesty about your builds..keep doing what you’re doing
Love your channel
I like drivers , enjoy them
Keep it up Jersey boy !!!
The Ventura is coming along and looking great, keep on forging ahead! Cheers, Ray
Loving this channel! Appreciate the hard work and low buck builds.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy and appreciate our work! Thanks for following along
Good video dude. Turned out nice!
Awesome job! Keep up the great videos
It's a good thing you muded over that old paint and rust to preserve it.
Used Goodmark full quarters on my chevelle.these went clear into door jamb, replaced trunk lip and clear to roof seam.although they werent 100% perfect, they did fit good!
Nice craftsmanship
Love your videos, keep up the good work. That car and your nova’s are all sweet car. Well the Pontiac will be 😂
Awesome job!!
On the 73 I just bought they put the new panel over the old one, and did a spot weld every inch LOL the perfectionist in me wants to cut along that line, and fully weld it like you did.. but cut a few inches, weld, cut a few more.. weld.. and so on.
Looks great! What a Cool Car!!!
Your videos are amazing!!
Great work my friend..
My old 76 ventura was my first love of a car in 88
Man you are bringing back memories. I owned 3 74' NOVA'S and one 73. To believe i used to turn my nose up at your car back in the day.😮😮 im 55 now, wish i still had a 74 in peticular , but i rolled it. Guess ill just have to live on with my header orange challenger😂
I use a body saw and cut through both panels at the same time and it makes a perfect gap and seam to weld to. Never fails. Just keep the saw 90 degrees at all times.
Cut N Butt
Looking good
Looks good
You did a great job on that panel don't sell yourself short nice work.
Thanks Lonnie!
Good Job.
I'm bringing you my truck and you can fix my rust quarters 🤣.. jimmy G
🤣
It's a roll of the dice with repo panels. At least you have another one that fits up nicely. Put the bad one aside for cutting apart for small patch repair stuff in the future.
That’s what I was thinking 🤔. Might be good to do a wheel arch repair on another car or something.
Lol you gotta love the chinesium metal, quarity product for you 😂
Hahaha no i do not love the chinesium metal lol. Caused me to have to dive into my personal stash of decent materials
Lookin good.
Nice work….. I think that seam will be fine!! is the 1970 💯 race ready since the last video?
Great job kiddo
Love it man, never get sponsors. Maybe 1
Thanks👍🏽👏🏾🏆
Keep it up your doing great car will be what your seeing in that picture in your eyes its your car it is a rare poncho with it being a stick shift i would put me a V8 chevy and find me a 5 speed in it for sure listen not many of them old buick olds pontiacs or novas left and if you can find a factory stick car its a win win win
I wish you were to replace both rear quarter panels with quarter panels from a 1969 Camaro. Then cut the wheel wells off 1969 Camaro front fenders, and the accent ridges coming back, and put them on the Ventura. Then get 1969 Camaro door skins and move the accent ridge to the Ventura doors also. Wouldn’t that be a cool looking vehicle?
Yes that is cool but it’s already been done. Check out Joe Rogans Nova. Autotopia la did a video on it a few months ago. If I were to start a project like that I would never finish it. I lose motivation if I can’t drive it.
I am in Md near DC… can you do the quarters on my 73 Hatchback?? So… Goodmark is ok??🙃
Are you gonna try to paint march to the “patina”?
Good job. Pontiac motor?
I have a complete wiring harness for a Ventura is you need it. Nice car overall.
muy bueno dude
Do you use flux or shielding gas with your welder?
I use gas
New in comments, are you going to put in a nova or a ventura nose clip?
If you cut-through the new and old panel at the same time when you have the new panel were you want it
..you will have a perfect gap
If you are going to lap weld why not use panel adhesive?
Well you had fold quarter how come you didn't put it on
The quarter I had was the one I put on but it was NOT a full quarter it only went partial way up. The full quarter include the trunk sill, up to roof line, and door jamb
The other quarter panel That you Have came up to the bottom of the roof Line.
Amazing i would just put it over top of the old one😅
That’s how 87.5% of these cars were fixed back in the day. Now a repair like that gets you blacklisted lol
I like what you've done but disagree with full quarters...original solid non warped metal..best to keep as much as possible..aftermarket full quarters are also not that accurate and take a ton of time to fit..I'm a partial quarters kinda guy..love the ventura..keep N it alive..
I'm not sure those hinges were welded on...I think someone welded them on.
I have had the best luck using AMD panels.
You really should cover the glass when welding and grinding ,the flying molten pieces will damage the glass .Dont ask me how i know but i know !
We want nova updates 🏎️
Which nova? Last weeks video was of the ‘70
Replace the full f-n qtr
Hey Chris, I couldn’t agree with you more. Replacing the full quarter is 100% the right way to do this job and I even mentioned that in the video. I am a beginner myself and “educating” people on the profession of bodywork and paint is not my goal. My channel is to entertain and inspire others to go out and work on there own projects within there budget. I myself as someone who tries to provide weekly content have an extremely limited budget so I often have to use a “work with whatcha got” mentality and the two panels shown in the video were all I had. I chose the panel with the better fitment and went from there. I apologize if the video offended you in any way.
Thanks,
Dan
А стекла, че не снял?
I guess you couldn't get a full quarter panel because welding on the face of a panel is a big no-no. It will last a while , but ultimately it will fail.
I'm sure it's aftermarket garbage I'm going through the same thing on a Chevy van that stuff doesn't fit worth a damn
Like digging a hole in your yard and throwing your money into it every payday !!! It will never be worth the time it robs from your life !!
Welcome to the world of Shitty 90's manufacture replacement sheet-metal...
Wrong. Just looking at the thumbnail I can say you already have caused yourself more problems.
You talk to much.
Sorry
I like hearing you talk…you have a purdy voice!
What a dumb comment 😂 how about you just turn the volume off while you are drooling over your phone while you are sitting on the toilet 😂
Check out these 3 Nova's this guy found in a junkyard!
