I understand that their house was a kind of laboratory out of which emerged some of the most enduring icons of modernist furniture design, but really, this house appears to be nothing more than an oversized shed. No doubt - it is full of eccentric flourishes and interesting furnishings but the house itself is an engineered steel structure with a bunch of big windows - not much design to speak of, highly energy inefficient and likely very uncomfortable to live in. Take away the Mondrianesque siding panels and the building itself is utterly unremarkable. The grounds are beautiful though.
In context with the Southern California climate it's very appropriate but in a more challenging climate it would be much less so. It's a matter of personal taste. I'd love to live there.
I really like it. It fits with their minimalist design and appreciation for nature. Looks to me like it’s intentionally that way so they can have more nature to look at.
I love how this video has no sound. It really lets you focus more on what you're seeing.
I restarted my phone geez

Eames house is more like a greenhouse to me🪴
Has an authentic restoration happened yet? That entry plot of asphalt can't be original, nor the scalloped-edged awning on a carport.

That's a lot of pavement. Must be an aspect Industrial Modern.
