Wow, so this is who bought this house. I saw this house, in person, when it was for sale around 2015. I went to a showing of it. At the showing I was at, someone actually walked through a huge window, breaking the window and injuring themselves. Although what she says is true, it was in total disarray, it was still absolutely stunning and full of potential. She restored it perfectly. And yes, at the showing, you could hear others at the open house talking about changing the home with this and that. It’s lucky that it received the buyer that it did. The view is breathtaking it goes West of the Hollywood sign, all the way East of Los Angeles, into Glendale. This is my absolute dream house. Even after its purchase, I would occasionally drive by the house to check it out and day dream about buying a home like that myself some day. Great job restoring it perfectly. Enjoy your home.
I am so glad that someone like you saw this house and appreciated the work of the young architects. I really enjoyed this opportunity to see and appreciate the home, the amazing view, and your thoughtful and respectful restoration. Thank you.
Yet again giving me goosebumps. That transition from the origins of the home through to its current family mode was really nice, particularly the owner connecting back to the architect's family. To me these homes disprove the idea that modernism is detached from humanity.
I grew up in the Los Feliz/Silverlake area, my family having first moved there in the ‘30s. I’ve known many great architectural homes and later specialized in the sale of them. It’s been a mission to preserve and honor such legacy houses. How beautifully presented with such obvious love and respect.
she's so cool and is such a great homeowner, also Garduño and Heiser are so inspiring in taking on a project like this and actually having it last. Great video.
Los Angeles' midcentury homes are truly special... my grandparents have a house which was remodeled in this era, and I see some similarities... the view from this house, though, is truly spectacular and i love that the windows were designed for the view. it's like the house is floating in the air. really magical feeling.
What a beautiful home with fantastic views! I enjoyed listening to Piper tell the story of the home and that she was able to work with Garduño's family and Heiser on the restoration. This series is so good!👍🏼
Steep lots are both spectacular and bad at the same time. A birds eye view is rare and thrilling and provides privacy. I love to garden so I understand the advantage of a fairly flat piece of ground, which I have. Also, you can easily host large events, which I don't do. Still, all things being equal, I would go for a cantilever house if I had the chance. It has the WOW factor.😊😊😊😊❤❤❤
I love that house. When you walk across the living room the whole house bounces. I'd definitely throw that brown sofa and coffee table over the balcony.
ugh - best channel ever. I've watched every video numerous times. This is super - love it. Those stairs are quite extraordinary especially during a rain but hey, at least you're always going to be in shape! :). Me, I'd never leave - it's a forever home. I would wonder though if I would need to install an elevator or something someday to get me from the car to the front door. I cannot imagine being in my 80s many many years from now and traipsing up the stairs. oy - my knees! I'm soooooo glad you saved the house from being turned into a remodel - another white and grey monstrosity - you did good.
What a great video! It features incredible architecture that reflects the creators' dreams, visions, and aspirations, topped off with a wonderful and knowledgeable host. Well done, all!
Congrats on 100K!!! So well deserved, I've loved every video. The houses, the people, the history, and the stories are top notch, keep up the great work!
As a Swede I'm astounded by the open design handrail on the deck that sits so far above ground. Are you allowed to build like this in the US? Would be terrified to have children and pets there. Cool house and views though
Definitely not. But the only ways that would get enforced would be if the place was re-sold, or homeowner's insurance inspected. I definitely ran into that with homeowner's policy on my place - they made me add rails and do some modifications.
What a warm, welcoming place! One practical question: How do you get heavy new purchases (groceries, furniture) up those stairs? Is there some kind of "freight elevator" hidden from view under the house?
I was the interior designer, another woman's touch. However, we were not self financed. My first ex- husband and I built the furniture and rearticulated the inside of the home. Don't blindside me.
Although it’s a mid century house, I like how it doesn’t “scream” vintage all over. Yes there’s a vintage vibe but it’s it’s made with balance, it’s not overwhelming. It’s humble, if that makes sense
Gorgeous house and spectacular restoration. However, I'm curious how a visual artist (I googled her) is able to afford what must be a $5 million house. 🤔
Yes it's against code. They can't even build the apartments with the parking spaces in the front and the first apartments on top which are all over LA.
The original design intent is amazing. I wonder if modern enhancements to the kitchen and bathroom would increase or decrease the value? I think someone would come in and completely tear down and rebuilt…thoughts?
Beautiful home and view but not sure how well it would stand up in a earthquake. Also there are mountain lions roaming at night in those neighborhoods.
Очень красивый дом. На 8:05 разглядел книжку. На её корешке название "СССР..." и дальше не разобрать. У Вас кто-то читает на русском языке или книги лежат для антуража?

The house… the colors… the story… the G Wagon… her fit… everything about this video is gold! 🌱🔋
Seeing the G Wagon cracked me up - it's even blacked out!
@@svalbard01 that’s her daily! Hahahah

What a great area in L.A. … I worked for a publisher who owned a Schindler house in Los Feliz … it was fun to go to work each day 👏🏼
Gorgeous! I’m so glad she restored the home. Bravo to her!
Truly timeless architecture
she's so cool and is such a great homeowner, also Garduño and Heiser are so inspiring in taking on a project like this and actually having it last. Great video.
We need more owners like you!

Beautiful and timeless, very rare to see someone who is passionate in restoring and preserving the original architecture of a home like this.
Thank you for saving this house!!!
Thank you for doing the work to preserve the work they did.
Walk by this place nearly every day. It’s in a small cluster of similar structures. Cool to finally see inside.
This is crazy good. Love her and the care she has taken with this place. Incredible!
I love the feeling of the 50s and 60s of this house and video. I also notice just now that Piper's dress reflects that era.
That room is nocturnally lit beautifully from behind all those panels, up above, and on the sides.
Wow, what a beautiful home. Kudos to the owner for nurturing it back to life.
Stunning property, thank you for not tearing it down
Great episode and cinematography, OS.

Wouldn’t have had to think about buying this house for more than five minutes. Incredible find in LA.
That house is a masterpiece.
Kudos to the owner for restoring the house to this level. Love the house and how it's been tastefully decorated and furnished.
Spectacularly beautiful. Glad the owner is someone who appreciates the piece of art that this house is.

Glad I saw this sweet build. Many houses with views, none any better than this.
Relatives in Australia had a home on a hill. They had a little railway to get groceries etc up to the house.
Absolutely beautiful. Glad to see the owner was extremely meticulous with the restoration.
such a stunning house! and a beautiful, intelligent update with respect to the original design and vision!
This woman rocks.
Really appreciate the care and consideration Piper put into preserving this work of art.
Hasta ella se ha vestido midcentury¡¡¡. Es auténtico, agradable y especial
Just beautiful!
The house and Piper are amazing!! 🥰
Just incredible. I would need to install a chair lift but simply fantastic architecture. Awesome preservation.
We don't have anything so magical as this in Australia.. They've lost this MCM warmth and touch... it's all brutal architecture now.
Absolutely beautiful!!!
I love that house. When you walk across the living room the whole house bounces. I'd definitely throw that brown sofa and coffee table over the balcony.

Bravo Piper.
Awesome house and location! Great story, too.
What a great video! It features incredible architecture that reflects the creators' dreams, visions, and aspirations, topped off with a wonderful and knowledgeable host. Well done, all!
so cinematic. i love all the shots and compositions to show it. beautiful all around!
Stunning 🤩
Love this channel! Vin Anatra's ranch home feature brought me here. Hopefully more FLW gets featured too!
A beautiful video befitting such a stunning home
What a beautiful house. What an incredible series of videos. This channel is my ASMR.
100+ dedication. Great work. Truely inspiring.
Your home is beautiful❤
nice student project!
Everything. And, I love the cadence of your voice!
Congrats on 100K!!! So well deserved, I've loved every video. The houses, the people, the history, and the stories are top notch, keep up the great work!
How did you childproof thaw place? Little kid can get into trouble in an instant.
Chef's kiss 💋 perfect!🎯
fantastic house
Fabulous still
So beautiful and perfect

Amazing - very well done

Amazing!
Like most '50s' houses, it seems too dark in the evening with the few lights they used.

"... a loan from his grandmother..." story as old as time. but you know, bootstraps and anybody can be successful in America
I strongly suspect bootstraps didn't buy and restore this house. Lots of nepo babies in these types of videos.
Amazing work! I'd like to know the house plans
Gorgeous house and spectacular restoration. However, I'm curious how a visual artist (I googled her) is able to afford what must be a $5 million house. 🤔
I would think it’s really none of your business
It wasn't 5 million.
It’s actually on the market for only 2.35 at the moment
Nice
9:01 Why does she say they can't be built again? Is that approach against current regulations or something?
That’s something I wanted to ask too.
Yes. It's a nanny state, now.
Yes it's against code. They can't even build the apartments with the parking spaces in the front and the first apartments on top which are all over LA.
The original design intent is amazing. I wonder if
modern enhancements to the kitchen and bathroom would increase or decrease the value? I think someone would come in and completely tear down and rebuilt…thoughts?
My god I had that exact same kitchen in my mar vista mid century and tore it out . Who knew?
Nice!
Wait this house is on the market right now?
Beautiful home and view but not sure how well it would stand up in a earthquake. Also there are mountain lions roaming at night in those neighborhoods.
It’s had over 70 years of enjoyment so far.
Good lord! ...a skirt! hahaha

What is a G wagon?
a small child living there with those open railings ?........... I don't think so....
It's a fantastic house .. but can you imagine lugging EVERTHING up those stairs everyday. God forbid you forget your car keys.
Tèo teo teo teo
Goooorrrrgussssssss!!
Underground termites have destroyed so many homes like that causing hundreds of thousands in just one home.
kitchen is absolute trash, mid appliances, horrible cabinets and an ugly countertop
We disagree
Oh no. earthquakes. Just no. that deck- poof, gone. any retrofit on a steep hill wont hold. Steps and groceries plus old feet, eek. No capiche.
But it's been there since the 60's and survived them all.
Beautiful property
