- The Eames Foundation, along with Charles Eames' grandchildren, are dedicated to maintaining the authentic 1950s experience that this iconic home once offered and to maintaining the legacy of Case Study House #8. Through its industrial materials and the wisdom of its creators, the house tells the story of mid-century modernism. In association with The Range. © Eames Office, LLC. 2024. I studied the Eames as a theme during my university research. Two years ago, I joined a tour, and it left a deep impression on me-it was truly beautiful. I’m praying from Japan for the safety of the house.
Please never stop making these short house case study videos, they are small pieces of design history that can live on forever and reach every part of the world.
Years ago, we spoke to their gardener, when Ray Eames was still living there. He said that she directed them to never make the foliage look planned. The gardeners came weekly to maintain the outdoors areas, gardens, to appear wild.
The landscaping now or past 30 years? - awful
I love this beautiful house. It has everything, purity of design, warmth, practicality, comfort. It truly is a machine for living.
Love!
Very beautiful piece of design history. Thank you.
With housing shortages, there needs to be more thought like this put into housing design.
Yep.
Rip
still standing!
OKO
One of my father's funny quips, why would any builder build on a waterfall. SF/
I feel a Japanese influence.
Oh look, some Mondrian.
Oh look, some very sad looking concrete, how homey.
Honestly, I do not understand the architectural desirability of sterile boxes.
To me, this house is as ugly as a bowling shoe. But that's tastes for ya.
Did you even listened to what was said int he video?
