Oh nice! Have the "non smart" Smallrig handles for our RS2 and RS3 but these new ones are really really cool. We also need to get our hands on these new Vespids. We have the complete line up, but these new cyber ones are cool!

Need a video highlighting all the various quick releases you use. They make you that much more efficient when moving from set up to setup
To be honest it’s just the Tilta base and camera cage and then those Manfrotto ones which I did make a video about I believe last year. Thanks for watching man 🙌🏼

Was shooting a full with the RS2 on gimbal with Tilta ring and it basically killed me. This looks like it will solve some of my problems.

Great video! Question for both Michael and the general public. Any thoughts of Thanos SE and Smallrig setup vs Tilta Advanced Ring Grip with an easyrig minimax on the RS3 Pro? One is clearly cheaper but stability and functionality wise, any preferences?
Would love to see if there’s a way to get a focus wheel integrated. Maybe Tilta handles? TBH I do not have a DJI LiDAR yet, so fair point in that it does most of the work. Would there be situations where you would want the focus wheel while still using the LiDAR.? (Maybe a change of focus mid shot for motivation, i.e. foreground to background subject or vice versa?) Currently, I’m invested into the Tilta Float system and still building it out to make it work better with the pendulum battery adaptation and the monitor mount (next on the never-ending accessory list). I know they have a mount option for direct to their arm and also a double arm system for the Tilta ring, but I do see the appeal of the Thanos with the quick release.
Hi Michael, great video as always, just a quick one noticed you had the mars400s pro on the gimbal set up, have you had any issues using with the 6kpro. Recently just bought the 400s pro and the transmitter send out a 24fps signal even though the camera is set to 25. currently speaking with Blackmagic about the issue but after looking online for a while I seem to be the only person having the issue!
So yes this camera fits this gimbal. I am buying it today then. The SC didn't work with the BMPCC6kPro
How is the vmount battery attached to that handle?

Has the Lidar autofocus adjustment been improved over time? I remember you said it was just 1m and 4m and a bit unsharp in closeups. Did firmware updates solve it?
I missed how you connected the Manfrotto Quick Release base to the arm of the thanos vest. I wonder if I am missing a piece? The hexagonal piece attached to the thanos arm doesn't open up big enough to slide the Manfrotto base in on my end. I really appreciate your videos and product reviews.
Michael. Just got my RS3Pro. I have the 6Kpro too. I am curious about what you recommend for powering it. I have always powered with a Edge Powerbase, attached to the camera cage. But it seems too bulky. Do you recommend powering the camera from a camera attached somewhere else? What's your preferred power set solution for the RS3 Pro and the 6kpro?
Do you feel the vest is small enough to use for a wedding day?

Hey man im wondering, do you still use the Digital Photo Thanos SE? Im about to buy it for my 6k pro, Rs3 Pro and Sigma 18-35. I found it through your recommendations and i would like to know if it still performs fine? A few people say that it wears off pretty quickly and that it doesn’t maintain safe (the knobs). Is it one of the reasons you switched to the Ronin 4D? Do you still like to use it and is it still worth it?

Hello. Please tell me what holder you use to attach the battery to the gimbal. I couldn't find it in your post. This is very important to me because I can't attach the v-mount battery to the gimbal normally

I have pretty much the same setup,and i can not get a smooth footage.At first i thought it was the thanos se that gives a huge amount of jitters and wobble in the footage but the issue is with the Ronin Rs3 pro.I spent days on balancing the gimbal as perfect as it can be with a heavy setup like that but no matter what it still gives jitters at the end.It is a good investment only if you have a camera or lens ibis otherwise you must shoot slowmo in order to get a ''non handheld'' look on your footage....Very disappointed!!!
When the gimbal is turned off can you angle the camera however you want and it stays in that position?
@@initialfocus Thanks for the reply!Yes,only the roll axis tends to go back in the middle and i think is because of the weight but it does it slowly.The weight of the setup on the motors is 3.5kilos.I can send you somehow a small clip of walking just to see the footage!
I cant get my 6kpro to balance properly on my RS3pro what's your secret?
How did you mount the Tilta base plate to the stock RS3 Pro plate? Also, was your main benefit to using the Tilta baseplate for a better focus rod placement... because you can literally slide the Tilta cage right into the native RS3 Pro plate and then mount the focus rod to the front of that...
My guyyyyyyy!!! This is why I love the comment section. It did NOT even cross my mind to try the Tilta cage with the DJI base plate. Originally I used the DJI quick release plate and base that came with it but I didn’t like that it only had a single screw. I just tried sliding the cage into the bottom plate and about fainted. You are my hero! Every ounce and inch saved is a win! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
@@initialfocus LOL.. Glad I could help. Now when you figure out a good focus rod mount solution that doesn't involve using only one screw to rotate the cheap little rod mount arm they gave us so that the focus wheel reaches the lens gear, let me know! I don't want to have to mount the focus wheel arm mount on the camera cage assembly. I want to be able to remove the camera from the gimbal and leave the focus motor with the gimbal. Those 3 little screw holes in front of the RS3 base plate just don't cut it because the focus gear doesn't reach, unless you only use one screw hold and rotate the arm up closer. I don't really like that solution. So maybe you can help the rest of us out on that one. I have a small rig rod mount I used lately, but it's still only using one screw hole, so It's just not as a solid mount as I would like. Im having a hard time figuring out the quick release system you've got here. I'm all Tilta built, yet you blaze through that section and I can't see which plate you're using. Its also not linked above.

You can’t just slide your 6k back on against the focus motor after handheld and start using the wheel. You need to reset your end points range in the RS3 menu.
Kinda like the PanaGlide system from the 1980s.
Can you please tell me where you got your 12-14mm rod for follow focus? I cant find one that is skinny in front but thick enough to fit in tilta base plate.

What would you shoot with this setup?
Long events and narrative stuff. I do quite a few 48 hour film festivals so this is great for long shoot days where it makes sense for me to look crazy in a setup but also save my back a ton haha

Great Rig, but at this point I would rather go FX3 with Autofocus. Smaller Setup and round about the same price if you ad all the tools necessary. If BMPCC6K Pro had autofocus... it would be the endgame.
For me I already had a BMPCC6K.. so this type of set up was my only option. Getting a similar vest soon lets see how it goes!

Pocket 6k pro not really pocket...
Video lacks credibility without actual shots especially walking shots because these Thanos rigs don't actually remove the z-axis motion. Even the Steadicam version don't work with an expert operator. Regardless looking through your channel content I don't see anything other than product reviews: in other words, an advertisemercial or infomercial channel nothing more.
Fair feedback on the lack of example shots with the thanos. Definitely could have done better there. Unnecessary dig on my channel though. I’ve made many types of videos. I love technology and gear so yeah that’s a lot of it. Doesn’t mean I’m a sellout. I show gear that I think is cool and I’d like to watch videos about. “Nothing more” makes it sound like every channel HAS to be this elaborate Hollywood whatever. Have a good day.
