Curious about the military surplus bag in this video? You can check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/6zMb7_RElq8/v-deo.html

Thanks for your great review! It means a lot. It is now being used by military special forces as they can use it and then leave it because it is a natural fertilizer when spent. Enjoy! Quick tip - put it in one pile - light - wait 10-15 seconds and give it a light stir. Works every time.

I’m glad you made this video, Insta-fire doesn’t get much love and has been around a while. I had an old pack I had forgotten about in the trunk of my car and used it to get a nice BBQ going in the park in a very damp public grill. The packet had to be eight years old and worked great.

It's pretty trippy to dump the burning Insta-Fire into a bowl of water! I had to try that myself when I got some. I couldn't get it to light with a spark wheel (Zippo EFK or Spark-Lite) but it lights easily with something more robust like a fire steel. I think it's a pretty good product and pretty cheap but I'm not convinced it gives me anything I don't get from fatwood, ESBIT, Tinder-Quik, etc.

Hello Rob, thanks for taking the time to comment. I tend to agree with you, generally speaking there are several other things I would take into the woods before this. It works, but not the best option out there. Great for getting things going in the backyard though. Thanks for watching!

Just picked a bag of this stuff up tonight, disappointed its pretty hard to light with a fire steel, but oh well! For a buck, can't really complain haha. Nice review.

So, just to be clear . . . in order to see if this product worked well enough to start a fire when everything was wet, you chose "dry" branches from the the base of a tree? So, I guess we still don't know if it works as advertised, right?

I'm wondering if this would light with a magnifying glass on a sunny day.

Good review! but why didnt u buy like 10 bags for 10 bucks? Test them in realife scenarios that you come up with. Sheesh....for a buck no ones gonna just use a 1/3rd! But in an emergency situation that would be good to know or to think about. I dont think i will buy that stuff to boil my Tea!
