    Lovely little device. Of course it needs to have Zello on it if it's to be a commercial success with amateur network radio users and hopefully Senhaix will recognise the importance of this and install that plus the google play store and a recent version of Android on it in the final retail version. Network radio is definitely the future of radio.

    Nice looking bit of kit with what appears to be some powerful features. Thanks for the first look. 73

    Useful for commercial use given the pain of business radio licencing can see store security, taxis, couriers making use of them.
    The lack of direct comms and dependency on network coverage/internet access is not something that rocks my boat mind.
    I also can't see it being a popular choice amongst hams given our vast selection of digital modes already accessible on hardware we already have and the cross (hardware) platform nature of their support.
    Interesting take on things though.

    Nicest looking NT-R I've seen so far...Please please keep us updated with this Lewis...Also does it have Wi-Fi (for Tier III VoIP and local network/mesh usage)..Those EXP ones probably only have the root/basic Android SDK kit uploaded with the most basic apps and real speak on just for functionality. Hopefully on release the Android OS will be newer with a fuller functionality comparable to other NT-R's...Keep up the good work Lewis :D

    REAL- PTT has a whole bunch of sound quality settings on the online portal. You can set it to HD quality audio. That sounds like it’s on the lowest setting.

    Thanks again for the vid Lewis.
    I wish manufacturers would provide a "back to back" or direct mode for these radios for when you are out of range of the cell site but I doubt they ever will. Even Airwave as expensive as it is has direct mode!
    Incidentally I read somewhere that when the new ESN system is fully adopted by the emergency services Airwave intends to avail itself to the general public. That will be interesting, after all Dolphin Digital tried that before Airwave and went down the pan, The funny thing is from what I can glean the new ESN system is basically an encrypted and secure version of Real PTT using the EE network. I wonder if ESN will have a direct mode?
    Again thanks for the vid mate.....GateKommand

    • @nickshevlin4063
      @nickshevlin4063 5 років тому

      Well if Airwave DO avail itself to the public,that will mean all those with Enc-clear tetra radios may well be able to use them to their full capability at long last...That would answer the P2P issue with network radio...Unless you buy a Ranger-outphone which has NTR and P2P built in.

    • @PatrickBaptist
      @PatrickBaptist 5 років тому

      Yeah using the microphone isn't showing what it sounds like "through your computer".
      It's not like anyone won't ever use the headphones on it LOL.
      The quality is worse being recorded through a mic than it will in real life,
      It's not my channel so it doesn't matter to me a bit.
      LOL so recording through a mic, that isn't going to be how it sounds "through a computer"?? LOL, I can help but be a smartellic about it.

    I know this is personal opinion, but these are not Radios.... They are mobile phones with a button on the side.... Its a just a very clever marketing positioning to sell you a device for $$$ which does nothing more than your mobile phone does already.... Not saying they don't have their place as a communication tool, just the same as TeamSpeak does or Skype does. But its not Amateur Radio (sorry to be a pain and sound negative) Just bugs me when they are called Radios... I dont have an Iphone 6s Network Radio in my pocket....That said, and to balance it out. Well presented and produced review video :)

      Alas the Aussies and 'muricans not having french as a second language fail to realise this point; Because our language dialects were heavily influenced by the french,so route (root) is from routier (root-e-air)...Mostly all other English speaking countries pronounce router as row-ter...A bit like the Colour/color-flavour/flavor thing...If you want to confuse things even further,go read some Olde English writings where small s looks like an f without the line-through and other letters we now use are not there and others are...Gotta love the English language.

      @veryboringname. 5 років тому +1

      If you were the target market for this device, you'll absolutely realise the importance of a hardware PTT button. With the app, clearly you've never heard of RealPTT. It's not popular in the western world but it is popular elsewhere. Zello is another popular app which this should support once it's released.
      Since you're not the target market for this device, you would have no idea why it's useful. That's fine, just keep in mind that different people have different requirements, and a network radio like this might fit them perfectly.

    • @624radicalham
      @624radicalham 5 років тому +1

      @@veryboringname. What possible non Western market target could this device have? India or impoverished nations? That's where this falls on its face. Zello was promoted after a hurricane in the United States after a recent hurricane in Texas. People floating in water after the flooding were actually told to use Zello in the press. But there was no internet as the towers were destroyed. This is where wireless radio excelled... "wireless" as in ham radio. Something invented over 100 years ago. Seriously great channel name by the way, love it.

    • @veryboringname.
      @veryboringname. 5 років тому +1

      @@624radicalham Any person or business you see right now that uses 2-way radios would be the target market. It's cheaper to use something like Zello than to set up repeaters everywhere or subscribe to a trunking radio service. If there was no market for it, these Chinese companies would definitely not be making so many different models of network radios. You can even buy combo UHF/network radios too.
