So thankful for this man and his willingness to share God’s Word in such a way that we can actually visualize the scenes. God uses him to make the Word come alive. Also, very convicting.
Once again, Pastor Begg, the Lord has used your sermon to speak to my heart that has once again become downtrodden about the condition of our country and the ungodly direction i hear some of our leadership wishes to go ... your message reminds us that the hidden hand of God is working His purpose out in the free will decisions of men. And in knowing that, we can rest as we know God is ultimately sovereign. Your clear exposition on that was taking place in II Sam Chapters 15-17 encourages my soul in the God of Scripture. As you say, keep on keepin' on! God bless your ministry. A long-time listener who recently retired to Washington state.
I think that Ahithophel went home and hung himself - because not only was he a traitor to King David now but . . . Ahithophel wanted to save and bring his granddaughter back alive. Surely Ahithophel knew war and knew how ruthless David could be, that is why he offers to go himself. His plan is not accepted and he goes home and ends his life not expecting his granddaughter to survive - a man who has now lost it all.
After he told David his sin against the Lord concerning Bathsheba and the death of Uriah and that God did forgive him I think he had to let things play out. David was on the run after all.
Children will remember the words of the Bible when Pastor Begg tells it to them. What a wonderful gift from God.
