  • King David’s son Absalom was also his enemy. So should love have set aside justice? Should justice have prevailed at love’s expense? David strategized to defeat his enemies while preserving his son’s life-yet the message of victory was accompanied by the announcement of Absalom’s death, and the king was consumed with guilt-laden grief. Examining God’s providential role in tragedy as well victory, Alistair Begg points us to the one place where perfect love and perfect justice meet: at the cross of Christ.
    Scripture: 2 Samuel 18

Praise the Lord for the relevant message brought about by A. Biggs--- indeed, very relevant to our life today. I love the pivot particularly----that only in Jesus can we find life and genuine peace.

Absolom sought to make a name for himself and he was thrown in a pit. The beast in Rev comes out of the pit. BUT this pit is covered with stones. Remember Christ is the chief cornerstone, on this stone the gates of Hades cannot prevail. The way the word connects is so enlightening. Amen.

Pastor Begg thank you for your genuineness to deliver His message. Good or bad.
You ministered to my rebellious spirit last year but I didn't know how to find you after hearing one of your sermons. Time passed and once again the Lord called to me and you once again, by chance, were there to minister to my faith.
I found you through KHBC in Texas.
Thank you for making God's messages available to all and for me. You mean a lot to me.
As soon as my brother and sister give word for their baptism, I will bring them to your congregation and we will celebrate together.
I pray for you and your family.
I am so grateful that the Lord made your messages known to me so that I may know Him. Thank you so much Pastor Begg.

No one counseled David to stay back when he spotted Bathsheba. It was his decision. It was only when they were going after Absalom did they suggest he stay back.

Just as David said, "Would be that I may have died, rather than my son, Absalom," it immediately made me see the Father sending His Son, Yeshua Ha'Meshiach, to die for us. King David would rather have given himself for his son's place, but God the Father did not spare His only begotten Son. It's just another example of the gospel in the picture of the life of Absalom because we are unlikeable, betrayed our Father, caused Him so much shame, which the Son, despising the shame of being hung on a tree, He willingly went and did the will of the Father because for that purpose He came into the world and time as we feel it. He had to be born the same, hunger, thirst, get tired, need sleep, and be tempted with sin, but never submitting to it, He overcame sin even though He had fleshly desires.

Frank, I thank you for your comment.
I am blessed by the Holy Spirit’s using Alastair to bring out another perspective on David’s grief… he was mourning his whole dereliction of duty to the LORD as a father and a king… he knew his sin of murdering Bathsheba’s husband had caused Absolom’s demise. “Would I had died for thee, Absolom, my son.”…. God, through the sacrifice of Jesus, has been able to die for me. God’s grief as Jesus suffered was so great… David’s grief was unproductive. God’s grief produced victory - over sin and death - through Jesus’ resurrection and ascension. A human being forever crowned in glory 😇❤️
