It is so surprising how so few people can tell. But the way as you show is super simple!
This is one of the best info on youtube. I could never figure out how to distinguish real leather to vinyl. This information will really help me to tell apart the vinyl and leather on a leather sofa I am buying that has both leather and Leather Match. Thanks, The Seat Shop!
Vinyl seat covers are really great almost the same if you go with bmw sensatec or Mercedes mb Tex they feel almost the same and are really durable!
Thanks mate! Just what I was looking for
thanks Brian, clear and to the point!
Best explanation on UA-cam
Simple solution. Thanks
That’s a damn good differentiator there.
so simple. love it. thx
Thank you for the information!!
Thankyou very much
good tip
There's a ton of misinformation spread on this subject. Glad someone knows his stuff - thank you.
- If most leathers are coated does it make sense to apply nourishing cream after cleaning?
No point in applying creams to auto leathers as it will not penetrate the clear protective lacquer
Leaving your car out in the hot sun every day will not do it much good
@@Hattonbank they do protect some leather cleaner are 3 in 1, they leave a layer of uv protection...............also window tint helps
Question, what leather kit do you recommend and vinyl kit to repair my seats, (just cracked not torn).
Restoring a car that has original vinyl seats. Is leather better for any reason or is the new tech of vinyl now better?
I have a chair that has worn spots on it. Can you polish those areas with shoe polish? I’m not sure if it’s leather or vinyl.
How do you maintain and protect a vinyl (eg. Toyata Softex). Do you take care of it as if it is real leather? Thanks
How do you tell a real leather vs fake leather dash since you cant push in?
Did you find a solution?
It’s rare to actually have leather. Dashboards specifically are rare to use leather. You can typically feel a noticeable difference in the texture. You can drag your hand across while it’s in a 40-60 degree temperature. Leather will typically be a slick feeling while vinyl will typically have a resistance such as running across a piece of rubber.
Amazing video, how should i know my steering wheel is vinyl or leather? Kind regards !
That will be tougher. Steering wheels that are real leather have to be treated heavily to withstand the oils from your hands, so you typically won't get the softer feel you would from true leather. If you had real leather without this treatment, the leather wrap would fall apart, typically within a year or so.
Is this good idea to install vinyl seat covers as leather is pretty expensive Or I have to go with leather only ? Please suggest.
It's completely up to you and your preference but you really can't go wrong with either configuration. Leather is more durable but our vinyl is solid and will hold up well also. Let us know if you have any other questions.
Why does the OEM seat use vinyl on the side panels? Wouldn't leather hold up better? If so why don't you do one up on the OEM and make it all leather?
It can save on material cost and is typically not a huge factor since the vinyl on the sides is not touched as often compared to the leather in the middle. For us, we don't make the all-leather covers b/c of the amount of material it uses and each cover and the increase of production time.
What is spidering?
Meaning leather has cracks that web out when you push it in it's small but noticeable
Vinyl is actually much longer lasting than leather. I think within the next 10 years you’ll hardly find a vehicle that still uses leather. Synthetic vinyl is cheaper, more humane obviously, and more durable. Industry will hone in on the real feel and it will take over in my opinion.
vinyl cracks after 1 year.........if u live in humid places, no matter if pvc, pleather whatever u name it, they all crack under 1 year of use in humid countrys, leather last way longer and fade before it cracks
Bruh you realize 98% of the time the leather is actually fake? So I don’t know what you’re going on about when it comes to humane. Also, what’s humane about killing a cow just for its meat but leaving everything else for the trash like leather and the bones? When animals a slaughtered the entire animal is used for something.
