NO! There is a great deal of confusion in regards to this question. The concept that Jesus went to hell after His death on the cross comes primarily from the Apostles’ Creed, which states, “He descended into hell.” There are also a few Scriptures which, depending on how they are translated, describe Jesus going to “hell.” In studying this issue, it is important to first understand what the Bible teaches about the realm of the dead. In the Hebrew Scriptures, the word used to describe the realm of the dead is SHEOL. It simply means “THE PLACE OF THE DEAD” or “the place of departed souls/spirits.” The New Testament Greek equivalent of sheol is HADES, which also refers to “the place of the dead.” Other Scriptures in the New Testament indicate that sheol/hades is a TEMPORARY place, where souls are kept as they await the final resurrection and judgment. Revelation 20:11-15 gives a clear distinction between hades and the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the permanent and final place of judgment for the lost. Hades, then, is a temporary place. Many people refer to both hades and the lake of fire as “hell,” and this causes confusion. Jesus did NOT go to a place of torment (hell) after His death, but He did go to hades (sheol). Sheol/hades was a realm with two divisions-a place of blessing and a place of judgment (Matthew 11:23; 16:18; Luke 10:15; 16:23; Acts 2:27-31). The abodes of the saved and the lost are both generally called “hades” in the Bible. The abode of the saved is also called “Abraham’s bosom” (KJV) or “Abraham’s side” (NIV) in Luke 16:22 and “paradise” in Luke 23:43. The abode of the unsaved is called “hell” (KJV) or “Hades” (NIV) in Luke 16:23. The abodes of the saved and the lost are separated by a “great chasm” (Luke 16:26). When Jesus died, He went to the blessed side of sheol and, from there, took the believers with Him to heaven (Ephesians 4:8-10). The judgment side of sheol/hades has remained unchanged. All unbelieving dead go there awaiting their final judgment in the future. Did Jesus go to sheol/hades? Yes, according to Ephesians 4:8-10 and 1 Peter 3:18-20. Some of the confusion has arisen from such passages as Psalm 16:10-11 as translated in the King James Version: “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. . . . Thou wilt show me the path of life.” “Hell” is not a correct translation in this verse. A correct reading would be “the grave” or “sheol.” Jesus said to the thief beside Him, “Today you will be with me in paradise” (Luke 23:43); He did not say, “I will see you in hell.” Jesus’ body was in the tomb; His soul/spirit went to be with the blessed in sheol/hades. Unfortunately, in many versions of the Bible, translators are not consistent, or correct, in how they translate the Hebrew and Greek words for “sheol,” “hades,” and “hell.” Some have the viewpoint that Jesus went to “hell” or the suffering side of sheol/hades in order to further be punished for our sins. This idea is completely unbiblical. It was the death of Jesus on the cross that sufficiently provided for our redemption. It was His shed blood that effected our own cleansing from sin (1 John 1:7-9). As He hung there on the cross, He took the sin burden of the whole human race upon Himself. He became sin for us: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Corinthians 5:21). This imputation of sin helps us understand Christ’s struggle in the garden of Gethsemane with the cup of sin which would be poured out upon Him on the cross. As Jesus neared death, He said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). His suffering in our place was completed. His soul/spirit went to hades (the place of the dead). Jesus did not go to “hell” or the suffering side of hades; He went to “Abraham’s side” or the blessed side of hades. Jesus’ suffering ended the moment He died. The payment for sin was paid. He then awaited the resurrection of His body and His return to glory in His ascension. Did Jesus go to hell? NO. Did Jesus go to sheol/hades? Yes. #
I have two questions then (great exposition btw): 1. At what point did Jesus ascend to take up the old testament saints into heaven? When Mary touched him after his resurrection, he told her that he had not yet ascended to the Father, implying that he had not yet gone up into heaven. 2. How did Enoch and Elijah go to heaven if no one else was allowed to enter in prior to Jesus' sacrifice? Thanks
MrMarkovka11 your first question seems irrelevant in my opinion, I would say when they saw him ascend to heaven and the angel mentions that in the same manner he left will be the same in his return.... Your 2nd question is fairly simple; they were chosen to ascend to heaven by the Lord, without seeing death. Simple as that. Seek the Holy Spirits discernment if you seem troubled in certain biblical truths. God bless
@@Mcgrauce the first question isn't irrelevant Let’s ask it this way, where is Jesus and where is the Father? In Heaven of course. This would mean then, according to your teaching/understanding, that the Thief is there also, correct? How did he get there before Christ? He said he didn't ascend yet. What Scripture do you have to explain this? Where is the Scripture about this Paradise being now in Heaven? Scripture please, not your explanation of what you think. Maybe the understanding of the teaching of the Thief needs to be reworked. When Jesus said in John 3 that no man has ascended into heaven except He who came down from heaven, are you saying that Jesus didn't know about Enoch and Elijah being there? Looks like a contradiction if one believes in the Traditional Teachings that leads to many questions such as these
Here’s a fact when Saul sought out a witch to bring back Samuel from the dead, she did and he came from out of the earth (Abraham’s Bosom)not down from heaven, that’s because he like all the Old Testament went the paradise and awaited for the death of Christ and then Jesus descents into paradise and proclaimed his victory over death hell and the grave, notice that when Christ died the veil was rent into but also the Old Testament saint’s graves burst open and their dead bodies were seen walking into the city, hence in the spirit heaven
@@jaywjay2011 Yes sir that's right, a lot of people think Paradise is heaven. But in fact it actually was Shoel, or Hades. Thats a great point. This was one of the 1st Catholic teachings I learned, that helped me understand there could be a possibility of purgatory. But I couldn't help to think that lava in the earth, is the Lake of Fire. 🤷🏻♂️ Great point though
In Mat 12:40 Jesus Himself said "For as Jonas was 3 days & 3 nights in the whale's belly, so shall the Son of man be 3 days & 3 nights in the heart of the earth.
JimmyCarol100 "the heart of the earth" = shoel, (Greek: hades). Both the good dead and the evil dead are in shoel/hades. Hades was split into two by a great chasm after Christ - Abraham's bosom (paradise) for the faithful to the LORD, the rest of the hades is in torment. (Luke 16)
if Jesus was crucified on Friday which is preparation day for weekly Sabbath Saturday and rose on Sunday gives 2 nights and 1 day. To prove Jona's prophecy Jesus was Crucified on Wedneday which for that year was preparation day for Feast of unlearned bread on Thursday. this being Feast of Unleavened bread is called High Holy Day. so Wednesday was actual Passover day and Thursday was Feast of Unleavened bread. Friday being preparation day for weekly Sabbath the women went out to purchase ingredients for ointment. they prepared it on Friday and kept weekly Sabbath on Saturday. since their day was 6 AM to 6 PM and night from 6 PM to 6 AM it was still very dark when they arrived to the tomb. they had to be careful not to be seen since they were already out of the house before 6 AM on Sunday. Jesus was already risen by the time they arrived. according to history the day of Unleavened bread did fall on Thursday for that year. we must b believe in the words of Jesus.
@@lapusenier5466 Yes. It is not an Eastern teaching for sure! The Nicene Creed doesn't mention it at all! The Eastern church understand He went to Hades (Hosea 13:14) but according to Scripture Hell is synonymous to the lake of fire"unquenchable," where the devil and his angels are headed along with those who reject Christ! Matt 25:41
The caller says that Jesus said 'You'll be with me today in Heaven'....Jesus did not say that. He said "you shall be with me in paradise.". Sheol has two compartments. Paradise (or Abraham's bosom) and The Place of Torment. Sheol is hebrew. Hades is the same place in Greek. Paradise and The Place of Torment are separated by the Chasm. Some scholars say this chasm is the same as the Abyss (or Tartarus) in 2 Peter 2:4. Gehenna is the location (sometimes called 'The Lake of Fire') Where the Hades (sheol) will be thrown into after the millenial reign (after the Great White Throne judgement) One of the issues I see is that sometimes English speaker translate Sheol as Hell. Sometimes English speakers translate Tartarus as Hell. Sometimes English speakers translate Gehenna as Hell. They are three different places.
Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. Isaiah:53:10
Jesus was referring to the Book of Enoch, which describes the fallen angels' bondage in Hades. Jews at the time of Jesus were very familiar with Enoch, and some considered Enoch a higher authority than Moses. Jesus' visit to Hades interpreted at the time, in the context of Enoch, was a confirmation that the fallen angels would remain bound, in spite of his death and resurrection.
Acts 2:31 KJV He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, THAT HIS SOUL WAS NOT LEFT IN HELL, neither his flesh did see corruption. For His soul not to be left, indicates He was there. Remember Christ said He was dead. Those in hell are considered to be dead and not living though they are conscience and aware. Jesus was dead but defeated death through his resurrection and lives forever more..Notice during the great white throne judgement, and I saw the dead. The dead lives not again. Death and hell are cast into the lake of fire. .Christ defeated death and lives forever more.
Did you not watch the video? Hell is translated from three different Greek words. Hades is one of them. Watch the video and listen to him explain what Hades is.
When Jesus rose from the grave there were saints who had died who followed Him and people saw them walking behind him. Where were they and does anyone know where they went to?? Please try to answer this if you know. Thanks.
The bodies that rose and walked in the cities died again. It was not a resurrection unto eternal life but a miracle. Just as Lazarus was risen, he died again.
@@rexsheeley8177 1- prove it's a 2 part place by scripture 2- Show us why according to scripture there are departed spirits there. 3-Whats a departed spirit? Where does Gods word teach this? 4- You do understand Abraham's Bobum is NOT a place don't you?
Both Hades and Sheoul mean a hole in the ground. The Ancient Greek’s superstition was that it was a place in the lower part of the earth where the wicked were tormented, but the Greek word simply means the grave where Jesus spent 3 full days and 3 full nights dead until raised from the dead.
Very well put. Thanks. There is nothing in the OT after the spotless lamb was killed and its blood drained that indicated that something happen to the lamb after this ceremony was completed that was a metaphore for suffering some more in hell. The blood was the atonement for our sin, not suffering in hell. Tha tis what an unbeliever will be doing. Or am I missing something?
@moniquekirton25 Hank is really addressing the error of Kenneth Copeland and other Word of Faith prosperity gospel preachers/teachers that Jesus had to suffer in hell and become born again to finish the work of atonement. This is a gross distortion of the biblical teaching on atonement. See this article from Brian Onken > www.equip.org/articles/the-atonement-of-christ-and-the-faith-message/
*_Where Was Jesus for Three Days Between His Death and His Resurrection?_* ▬ He was in the tomb for 3 days and 3 nights, just as He said He would be (Matthew 12:40). ▬ He was DEAD. He said so in Revelation 1:18. He couldn't go anywhere. ▬ The "hell" He went to (Acts 2:31) was the grave, His tomb. "Hell" in that verse is from the Greek word ᾅδου or hades -the grave, the place where the dead are laid to rest. The very same word ᾅδου is translated "grave" here in 1 Corinthians 15:55: ⚫ "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?" ▬ Was Jesus in paradise the same day (Luke 23:43)? No, He was in the tomb. He did not even ascend to the Father until after His resurrection (John 20:17). There were no commas in the original texts; the comma before "To day" in Luke 23:43 was added by translators -in the wrong place. There are some Bibles that get it right (comma after "To day" in The Scriptures 2009 and the Faithful Version, eg) or leave the comma out entirely (FBV Free Bible Version and The Curetonian Version of the Four Gospels). ▬ Did Jesus bring saints with Him when He ascended? No. *Key evidence* is Peter's statement (many days after Jesus ascended!) that David *_"is both dead and buried"_* (Acts 2:29) and had *_not_* ascended to heaven (Acts 2:34). More key evidence is in 1 Tim 6:15,16: Jesus alone has immortality. Just as Paul explained in 1 Cor 15:50-54 and 1 Thess 4:13-17, the dead in Christ remain in their graves until they are resurrected at Jesus' return. Note that even before His death Jesus stated no man - other than Himself - had gone to heaven (John 3:13). ▬ The "spirits in prison" that Jesus made proclamation to (1 Peter 3:19) were the corrupted *angels* who had been figuratively "chained up" because they had crossed the line in their interactions with humans back in Noah's time. Jude 6 and 2 Peter 2:4 describe their incarceration . . ."hell" in 2 Peter 2:4 is from the Greek word ταρταρωσας or tartaroo, a verb meaning to cast into incarceration. Jesus - the Word that was with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1-3) - made proclamation to those fallen angels at the time they were incarcerated -not while He was dead in His tomb. ▬ What happens when you assume "hell" in Acts 2:31 means a place of fiery torment, and you assume Jesus was in paradise the same day He died??? You get ridiculous theories about paradise being a "compartment" in that fiery hell. That is what happens when you try to build doctrine upon falsehood. Jesus was dead, in the tomb, for three days and nights. He ascended to the Father after His resurrection. Like David, all the Old Testament and (deceased) New Testament saints are still in their graves, and will remain there until their promised resurrection at Jesus' return. ▬ What about the spirit that Jesus asked the Father to receive when He was dying . . . does that mean Jesus had a spirit of some sort that continued alive - and maybe went to paradise - after He died? No. In the original Greek text the "spirit" was Jesus' _pneuma_ - His breath - which He asked the Father to receive: ⚫ "And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last." (Luke 23:46, NKJV). When Stephen was martyred, he did the same: He asked the Lord to receive his spirit - his _pneuma_ - his breath of life (Acts 7:59). Without the breath of of life, the body is dead: ⚫ "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." (James 2:26) "Spirit" in that verse is from that same Greek word _pneuma._ Today the word _pneuma_ persists: we have "pneumatic" - air powered - tools. When God created Adam, He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (Gen 2:7). Jesus and Stephen were simply asking God to receive back that breath of life.
HEY ... WAIT A MINUTE ... Jesus did NOT GO DIRECTLY to the Father. (Jn20:17 KJV) As for what Jesus said to the thief on the cross, he did NOT say nor imply, “Today you’ll be with me in paradise.” Rather ii seems the passage should be understood as, “I say to you today, you will be with me in paradise.” Remember, Luke wasn’t there at the cross, and he reported everything hearsay. Also, the placement of any comma in Lk23:43 was not in the original Greek, and therefore greatly alters the intended meaning. Furthermore, if someone can’t understand and accept the simple truth of 1Pet3:18-20 KJV then they should not cause others to doubt the truth that Jesus went to the spirits of the past who were disobedient to give them the chance of salvation.
"It is finished" doesn't have to mean the story is over. It could easily mean that his work on earth is done. That he lived a life without sin and managed to take on the sin of the world. It would still be "heretical" for Jesus to imply he was wrong saying "it is finished".
I think you are correct. Jesus had a specific mission on earth in the flesh which was , among other things, to be sacrificed for our sins, to be the mediator between flesh man and God, which is why the veil in the temple was rent, opening up salvation to ALL. Christ fulfilled ALL His obligations and “finished” the job of establishing forgiveness through His ultimate sacrifice.
Acts ch.2 vs.31 KJV 1611 says "He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption." That implies that he did indeed descend into hell. I believe what he said to the thief on the Cross about being in paradise with him this day is the same as anyone who gets saved having Christ in their heart perhaps. It mean he had accepted Christ in his heart...maybe. That's what I'm going to believe anyway,
Why are we discussing Hades? Hades is a Greek mythological term. Seems to me Greek mythology creeped into the culture at that time, but why are we perpetuating it?
Messiah (the man) was DEAD in the grave (descended into hell) for three days as prophesied by the scripture. Peters teaching of a historical antediluvian account of gospel preaching, by means of the ''spirit of Messiah'' at the time of the flood, (1 Peter 3:18-21) must not be misinterpreted. Messiah was dead three days and did not descend into some heretical devils pit of eternal torment in order to set purgatory or some other heretical devils chamber free. For Messiah (Christ) also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the The (Holy) Spirit: By which (the Holy Spirit) also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison; Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God WAITED IN THE DAYS OF NOAH, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
Jesus went down to the lowest parts of Hell where the spirits that sinned in Genesis 6 were sent. He went down to proclaim to them His victory over death. But then Hank Hanegraaf doesn’t believe that the spirits sinned like it says so no I guess Jesus never went down to Hell
@@TheGreatSkull123 an eternal abode in what way, the question I have which none has answered is that when the heavens and earth are renewed, death and hades are cast into the lake of fire which is the second death, everything will pick up again from where Eden left off, so we have no more dying/death because they have been destroyed, all things are made new, so where will hell be, where will the wicked be, you see I understand scripture speaks of death as a return, but that is another story.
Psalm 139:7-8: 7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence? 8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
@Michael Szczys the Bible explains we have 3 levels of hell, and 3 levels of heaven. As the clouds r the 1st Heaven, and the universe and the stars is the 2nd heaven, & the 3rd heaven is the heaven we can't see. But the Bible doesn't explain Jesus went to the lowest parts of hell which is Tartarus. But the Bible clearly explains in Genesis that Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel went to Sheol/Abraham's bosom, cuz they're souls left their body, and gathered with their people in Abraham's bosom. So why add words to the text that are not there to explain the text. This is not reading it exegesis it is eisegesis. Cuz logically if you think about it, if Jesus went to preach to the souls in prison, and preach to the people that r in the side of Torment, or @ the bottom of Tartarus that would mean they could now get a second chance to go to heaven. that means everybody that goes to hell today they're going to get a second chance, that would only be fair for people that lived in the NT. But that's like saying people that take the mark of the beast and go to hell, that they could still get a 2nd chance to go to heaven. this would be unfair and not Justice @all . Jesus only went to Abraham's bosom because he's the ladder that was built to go to heaven. We know the only people that r going to heaven, or the ones who believe in Jesus. so that's why he preached to them, and it's the souls that believed, where in Abraham's bosom only. Believing in Jesus went to heaven. Because in Lazarus and the rich man, that's like saying Jesus went to the rich man, and preached so now the rich man got a chance to go to heaven that would not be Justice. Unless you believe in universalism. That's a diff topic.
@@onlylove556 its the word ' preach ' Jesus didn't go to preach the message of salvation to them, he went to preach to the spirits in Tartarus that were there because of the extreme evil deeds of Genesis 6. He went to preach to them of His success in being born even though they made great effort to prevent that happening, He went to preach to them about how they lost and were going to be judged. Just because it may say ' preached ' does not mean preaching salvation. There is no more salvation to spirits in hell, and for those spirits which were originally angels, there never was any possibility of salvation. Salvation was for mankind
@@michaelszczys8316 well maybe he did go down to the lowest parts of hell that is in Tartarus to put them in check. but what I'm saying is the Bible doesn't clearly teach that. I think that is adding words to the tax to explain it but hey I could be wrong. But it is taught that after we die, if we do go to hell we are going to know we deserve to be down there. As in the story with Lazarus and the rich man, he knew he could not Escape than acks Abraham to relay a message for him. so that's why I'm confused on why Jesus would have to go to Tartarus. But the Bible does teach he went to Abraham's bosom, as we know the Saints are alive in heaven looking down at us, I don't know if you believe in that, but the Bible does clearly teaches that, as the ancient Orthodox Church believes as well as Catholics & the Coptic Church. I just don't see a text stating that he went down to the third part of hell. Unless u do have that scripture, for I could study more on this topic, that would be great. God bless u 🙏🏼💯☦
True....Paradise used to be at Sheol but not anymore....for regenerated Christians after this life they go to be with the Lord in Heaven. There is a chasm that used to divide the righteous and the unrighteous in Sheol. Jesus took all the saints with Him into heaven after visiting them in Paradise that three days.

He experienced hell on the cross for 3 hours Even God turned away from his own son He then died and. As ended and later returned and was seen by disciples and many others until he ascended 40 days later
Thinking on these lines the other day it occurred to me that where Jesus said that " there is only one good, God " That even Jesus had sin. He didn't commit any sins and was not born in sin but at least for a while He had sin and the Father could not look upon Him. Of course, it was OUR sin that He took upon Himself. There's a concept to ponder.
Luke 16 said the Rich man went to hell(hades) in the greek... and then says And lift up his eyes being in torment! Hank does not understand spiritual death as dealt with through the Scriptures and Pauls Revelation. This guy is confusing. the WORD OF FAITH MOVEMENT Is much more clear on this than Hank. Luke 23:43 says, "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." in the Greek its worded "I say unto This Day,(comma) thou shalt be with me in paradise." In other words, "I'm telling You today,......" Jesus commended His spirit into the Fathers hands for Him to do with Him what was just, It seems, by numerous Scriptures, to indicate He(Jesus) went to hell and Suffered the complete Price of the sinners future damnation. in other words....Christ defeated satan in HEAVEN! ON EARTH, AND YES! IN HELL(both the lower and upper Regions!) Hence Phillipians 4:9, "(Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?" and a host of other Scriptures that shows him to be the FIRST BORN From the Dead(spiritual death[separation from God]). Hence Christ being theFIRST BORN AMONG MANY BRETHREN!(Born Again) from Our Sin He took upon Himself(BECAUSE HE HAD NO SIN AND NEVER SINNED!) He was made to be sin with our sin according to 2 Corinthians 5:21. Just to make it CLEAR. NOT TOTALLY SOLD ON THIS POINT OF VIEW, But I do See the WORD FAITH'S POINT. THEY ARE NOT CRAZY When You really LOOK at their point. Again, not totally sold, but ONCE presented Correctly, seems MORE Scriptural than Hanks point.
Hell is translated from three different greek words. One of which is Hades as Hank mentioned. So in this since, Jesus went to Hell/Hades where the righteous went as Hank mentioned. He definitely didn't go to where the wicked end up. Jesus went to Paradise also known as Abraham's bosom. It was in the heart of the earth until Jesus was resurrected. Now Paradise is in Heaven. No one went to Heaven after they died until Jesus was resurrected. They all went to Hell/Hades, either to the section for the wicked or the section for the righteous. We read about the rich man going where the wicked end up and Lazurus going to Abraham's bosom/Paradise, in Luke 16. Both went to Hell/Hades.
@bobbyadkins6983 Thanks for sharing. Yes, defining "Hell" and "Hades" is important. The abode of the dead refers to "Hades," whereas "Hell" the future eternal conscious punishment of the wicked. Of course, Hank believes Hades was never the same after Christ's death and resurrection. He did not tell the thief he would be with Him in heaven....He said paradise. Two different places. And Hades is Greek, Hell is English, Sheol is Hebrew. You should stick to the Word and forget teaching your opinion as Word.
The thief next to him died cruel death, then got a treat. First off, before he died he got to meet Jesus in person and even share His experience, then after he died he got to go to paradise and watch Jesus open it up for all the righteous souls that were there and join them ascending to heaven.
Thank you so much for answering my two questions in one video. That being Jesus's descending into hell, AND why he told Mary not to touch him. God bless you.
In the same way the Church and Lucifer(click on highlighted words to view content). have been found not to be scriptural entities through the way they have been traditionally presented, so are "heaven" and "hell" (Mark 7:13). The phrase "He descended into hell" originated with the Roman Catholic Church and is found in the Apostles' Creed - which has only been known since the third century. This phrase was evidently derived from an unusually-worded portion of 1Peter 3:18-20. However, the first thing to note in this passage from Peter is that the Greek word "Hades" (translated as "hell") does not actually appear. "Hades" is the underworld god of Greek mythology and, even though it is mentioned as "hell" in the Creed (and elsewhere in both OT and NT Greek translations), it does not appear in the Original Hebrew Writings - particularly not appearing as a holding place of permanent punishment of those utterly lost forever (previously noted in the article Defining Enemies. The King James Version of the bible indiscriminately translates three different words as "hell" - the Hebrew word, sheol, plus the Greek words hades and gehenna. In the same regard as we have previously noted in the handling of the word "soul", the English word "hell" or "Hades" has been used in translation for the Hebrew word sheol - but, remember, Hades is a place of Greek mythology not found in Hebraic culture. Sheol is a word whose root meaning is "unseen", as when one is in the grave they are unseen. In the Original Writings (OT), the King James Version translates sheol as "hell" 31 times, "the grave" 31 times, and "the pit" three times. Yet in the Original Writings sheol was not a place of punishment for faithful Jacob was there (Genesis 37:35), righteous Job also longed for it in Job 14:13 and David spoke of going to sheol in Psalm 49:15. Scripture records Yeshua's visit there in Psalm 16:10 and Acts 2:24-31. In all these cases, the scriptural description is "unseen" because they were dead - not in some ethereal holding place. Various arguments about sheol being a temporary intermediate-state compartment in the underworld are simply not found in the words given to us in scripture but are a reflection of the mythological "Hades". It is only with the Messianic Writings that additional "revelation" begins to appear under the guise of "Christian theology" which defines events that follow death for the non-believer and for the believer.
He went to paradise and preached to the “prisoners.” If we remember, Jesus told the repentant thief beside Him on the cross that he would be with Christ in paradise that very day. Reading the parable of the rich man and Lazarus we discover that Abraham is in the same place as the rich man, only there is an uncrossable gulf that separates this place into two sides. The rich man can see and talk to Abraham but cannot cross the gulf. This, I believe, is Paradise, where all go after the death of the flesh. Some are on the side with Abraham, whom we know overcame, like Lazarus. But the rich man is on a different side of Paradise where those who did not overcome are being held. The Bible does also say that the spirit returns to God who made it.
His burning, is explained if we understand the human condition and read on about the rich man’s request. He was ashamed and understood full well that he did not have eternal life. How would that make anyone feel?
Does Hank have any clue as to what Jesus actually was doing in Hades? You'd think that answer would be included from a guy who styles himself as an "answer man." Hint: The answer is found here (1 Peter 3:19) [Jesus] made alive in the spirit, went and proclaimed to the spirits in prison, because they formerly did not obey, when God’s patience waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared. These are the Sons of God from Genesis 6 aka the Watchers.
Hank does not believe that angelic beings can breed with human women. He will tell you they are non- cuporial. So, in turn, Hank doesn't really have any good answers for much of anything related to that subject. NON- CUPORIAL I used to hear it all the time whenever I tried to listen to Hank Hannegraf answer man shows. Every time someone would call and ask anything Genesis 6 you would hear that word at least 8 times.
This is the kind of thing that Paul warned about, continually debating minor points of scripture instead of going about the business of witnessing for Jesus and making disciples as the Lord Jesus COMMANDED. Mr. Hanegraaff, Bible Answer Man, you are failing in your duty to the lost and dying by spending too much time in debate instead of preaching repentance, confession of sin and faith in Jesus for salvation. The late Rev. Billy Graham is responsible for likely millions of lost being saved because he fulfilled the great commission as Christ directed. This is what Satan is best at, distracting us from the great commission and redirecting us on to controversy. As long as we are not reaching the lost for Jesus, Satan wins!!! To the rest of you, if you have a question about something in the Bible, study it diligently prayer and a pure hear and ask our divine edifier, the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has never failed me. "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." James 1:5
Christ did not descend to hell but did suffer, as if he had, in the Garden of Gethsemane where he sacrificed himself for the sins of the repentant- he did also go to an intermediate place called the Spirit World as explained to Barnabus on the cross, to teach the spirits of people who have/will die before the judgment and resurrection.
And...if Christ suffered, He died. If He died, then He passed on. If He passed on, then He passed through from death to life. The physical world we live in, all if this we can see, feel, touch and experience is not real in the sense the Spiritual destination of finality is real. Hades is/was the abode of the dead; the resting place; Abrahams bosom; The Great Divide; The Trench of Seperation.
The Jews also marveled over 2000 years ago and even today, many doubt Christ's words concerning John 5:25 which Jesus himself stated "Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live" as well as "marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice (John 5:28). See ua-cam.com/video/-ko6_HHXx0o/v-deo.html as the Savior ministered to the dead in the spirit world so "that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father" (Philippians 2:10-11). "It is a glorious moment to live in the last days to see the marvelous work and a wonder of Our Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. You can live the gospel in its fulness and simplicity. You can gain an understanding of the nature of the Godhead, the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the purpose of life on earth, and the reality of life after death. You have the privilege of being guided by living prophets, who teach God’s will in our day. Temple ordinances enable you to receive guidance and peace, prepare for eternal life, be sealed to your family for eternity, and provide saving ordinances for your deceased ancestors." Remember what the Apostle Peter stated "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) and from Paul "“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19). See Isaiah 42:6 "I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. There's a word called Verbatim...as is written. Its used alot in rules and regulation contracts and documentation for the solid legal truth to be exact and not wrong. But in the bible preaching verbatim is more like assume / ass-u-me......or make an ass of -u -and -me....oh its this, no its that, its possible it was this cuz I said so, cuz Im a self appointed prophet (profit) of prosperity preaching ect., ect
Yes. Jesus goes to Gehenna to the deepest part of the earth, why? At the Foot of Cross, Jesus paid the price even to those souls who feel themselves forsaken by God. John3:17 is the mission of Jesus and He showed to all who feel forsaken by God that he paid their redemption too, but since the damned souls chose to reject the merciful love of God up to their last breathe, the descent of Jesus to hell became a torment for them because they had realize that God forsake Jesus to fullest to redeem their souls but still they chose to reject God merciful love thru Jesus ultimate sacrifice. This shows the truthfulness of scriptures that God desire all men to be save and not a single soul was forsaken.
@@rumpold131 Jesus go to Abraham bosom with Dimas the repentant thief first, and a painting depicted the difference between a repentant sinner and a righteous souls in Abraham bosom. the painting if you happen to see one, depicted Dimas lying in the floor like a sick beggar and naked while Abraham and all the souls behind him wear a "white robe" meaning their souls are ready to meet God in Heaven. Then Jesus went below Abraham bosom to preach to all the souls in purgatory by having Dimas as an example telling them that purification is needed to expiate all their imperfection because as the gospel teaches all their confessed sins although forgiven must be paid up to last penny and Dimas is a good example.Read 1Peter3:18-20 as Jesus preach to those who are in prisons meaning those who are in purgatory. Hell is not a prison for souls as the damned souls are not in prison they chose to be there as C.S Lewis beautifully described them " The door of hell is locked in the inside". Then Jesus went to Gehenna up to the deepest part of hell to show us that if there' is a damn soul in that portion Jesus Redemption had paid for that damned souls but don't get wrong Jesus visit this damned souls not to save them anymore because they are already damned and they had chosen to be damned, what is the purpose of Jesus? To remind us today not to condemn any sinners even the worst sinners like Satanic priest and even those souls who sold their souls to the devil because Jesus Redemptive Sacrifice had already paid even for those grievious sins. God can save all the people living today even if they are the worst of sinners, why? The Divine Mercy of God is greater than all the sins combined, "The Divine Mercy of God in Infinite but the Time of Mercy is Not."(pope Francis) Read 1Timothy2:4. My Jesus mercy.
@@rumpold131 you have to correct first the understanding of hell. what is hell for you? When Jesus descended into the dead, he preach the gospel of salvation to the dead, why? Read 1Peter3:18-20 Or much better read first our Catechism...read CCC633 upto CCC635 after you read, if you want to ask something again...please do so.Godbless
@Andrew Collop You have misunderstood Hank. In this video Hank addresses the error that Christ had to suffer in hell to complete the work of atonement, which is commonly taught by Word of Faith teachers. Hank has never changed his mind about that false teaching. Hank has given attention to the early Christian teaching from the Scriptures on the mystery of Christ descent into Hades associated with Holy Saturday between the Passion and Pascha in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Kyf4U2_v-Js/v-deo.html Neither video actually contradict.
Hi, no, there's NO clear teaching on this,Enoch went UP to Heaven,Elijah went UP to heaven, the myth about heaven being in the heart of the earth is false and Abraham's bosom is not a place. Luke 16 with the rich man and Lazarus is a parable
Not true, Jesus went into the heart of the earth that is hell and to all those who died in the Great flood of Noah and others he also brought with him those in Abraham bosom into heaven. Most theologians are not born again.
Misha-el Ministries based on which scripture or scriptures? Being born again does not give you a license to be intellectually lazy or reckless either. Being “wrong” is OK! This is where iron sharpens iron if you are humble and in fellowship. The proud are allergic to this process...so since a born again would be OBSESSED with the Living Word of God, which scriptures form the basis for your conclusion?
Regardless what he did, Christ said he was dead. The dead are those in hell. Though they are conscience and aware, they are dead. But Christ defeated death and lives forever more.
This is being taught in these christian colleges. And people are not searching for the truth! These teaching came around the 19th century if I have heard this correctly.
@@JESUSCHRISTISLORD911 After I went through the baptism of Fire and the Holy Spirit God took me off the cross and I have been enjoying all His blessings ever since then. However count the cost. It will cost you Gabriel Riveros everything you have including your intellectuallity.
But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death. Acts 2:24 This verse shows clearly that Jesus suffering did not end with His death but with His resurrection. His resurrection did not free Jesus from the agony of the cross, it freed him from the agony of sheol. After the suffering of His soul he will see the ligh of life and be satisfied. Isa 53 Resurrection freed Him from the agony of death. No sign shall be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. Mathew 16:4 Jonah was swallowed up and descended into darkness. Then on the third day was spat up back onto dry land. The wages of sin is both spiritual and physical death. (Rom 6:23) Jesus died for us. He took the wages or consequences of, our sin which is the penalty of both physical and spiritual death. He descended among the dead so that now by grace we might rise among the living! By the grace of God Jesus tasted bitter death for everyone. He did this so that by his great love and mercy, through our faith in Him, we might never have to taste this bitter and terrible suffering bu rather love forever to enjoy the light of life. Mark 9:1 Thanks and praise be to our God!
As a victor, not a victim. In other words, Jesus didn't go there to roast in fire, but to declare his lordship and authority to the Devil and all his fallen angels.
@@MrMarkovka11 there is no chapter or verse that teaches that either you are regurgitating what you heard or some taught you. It’s constant from the prophecy of the old testament to the new testament Jesus went to hell to suffer as we should have suffered. Let me know and I can show you all the evidence, that is if you want TRUTH.
@joseluisflores5906 I Peter 3:19-20 [19] by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, [20] who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. Colossians 2:14-15 [14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. [15] Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. Hebrews 2:14-15 [14] Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, [15] and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. Hebrews 10:10 [10] By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the BODY of Jesus Christ once for all. Hebrews 13:11-12 [11] For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp. [12] Therefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered outside the gate. Here are the verses demonstrating that Christ's physical death WAS the sacrifice required, and that atonement is through his blood. On top of that, having completed the atonement through his physical bodily sacrifice, the first set of verses demonstrate that Jesus went down in Sheol and humiliated the principalities and powers of darkness, declaring His ultimate victory over them. This is irrefutable biblical evidence.
@joseluisflores5906 hey there, brother. I responded to you earlier today with verses that show 2 things: 1. Jesus' triumphant declaration of victory to the principalities and powers of darkness through his death on the cross. 2. The physical bodily death of Jesus *was* how the OT sacrificial system was fulfilled and the shedding of his blood *was* the atonement. But UA-cam keeps deleting that comment. Just letting you know.
Yes, Jesus went to hell. But why ? How can anyone have the right to subject others to a hell suffering, unless he knows what they are actually going through. If a God subjects someone to hell, how can he possibly understand what the person is going through, unless having experienced it themselves. WOW, so many people are sooooo stupid in understanding.
When people died from Adam to the thief on the cross, prior to Jesus, they went to one of two places. Those who had faith that the messiah would ultimately come and pay for their sin and bring them back into a right relationship with the Father, would have that faith credited to them as righteousness. Those who did not believe that went to Hades (or Hell). After his death on the cross, Jesus had to venture into Hell first in order to take back the keys of sin and death that were taken from Adam and Eve once they sinned. When God looked down into hell and saw this perfect soul in Christ, he could legally raise Christ and those that follow Him from the dead (breaking the power over the grave). Once Jesus completed that mission in hell, he traversed the great chasm between Hades and Abraham's bosom. There he preached to everyone from Adam to the thief on the cross so that they could all put their faith in Jesus and therefore be set free to go into heaven with Christ when he ascended to the Father. "No man cometh unto the Father but through Me," said Jesus. That was literally the case in this situation. Captives held captive are now free and Abraham's Bosom no longer exists. Now when we die, we go straight to heaven because of Jesus's atonement.
Hell is a prison in the lower parts of the earth. People find themselves there because of sins. Jesus spent three days and three nights in the lower parts of the earth, being forsaken of the Father for three days and two nights. The rich man being in hell, lifted up his eyes and saw Lazarus in Abraham's bosom. There was a great gulf that separated them. Granted, the conditions of their imprisonment were vastly different, but because of their sins, they were in hell nonetheless. Paradise is simply a term for a garden, this one happened to be in hell, there is also one in heaven. Why it is unthinkable to some that Jesus went to hell is purely superstition. Clearly also, after his resurrection he returned by the Spirit, and preached to the spirits in prison, that they may be judged according to men in the flesh. Those that believed his preaching he led those prisoners captive when he ascended on high. Now the righteous no longer serve a sentence in hell, Jesus did it for them. Now to be absent from the body is to be present with Lord. Grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and of Christ.
The word hell is not eternal you must take the whole bible into context. In the book of Revelation Jesus plainly states that death and HELL was cast into the lake of fire. LAKE OF FIRE Now thats eternal, Hell was where the captives souls were that had died without the blood he had just shed and so yes he did go to hell and set the captives free.
349mikval You are fooled by the Masonic KJV. Hades is not hell. Hades will be thrown into hell (the Lake of fire). sites.google.com/site/masonickjv1611exposed/home/kjv-confuses-hades-with-hell
No he said death and hades/sheol was thrown into hell which is the lake of fire where the unforgivable are destined to go. The humans body, soul and spirit remain forever there under Gods orge and thymos Hades/sheol is where spirit and soul go wether angel within the abyss or human in the righteous and unrighteous compartments. Saints of old and new after christ gave access to the Father now reside in the third heaven where paradise now is until the first ressurrection, not sure of animals sense they too were made to be an living nephesh which requires an immortal spirit to be placed into the body and were subject unwillingly by God to our corruption. But will be delt with in a rightful manner when all saints are revealed
Jesus burned in hell for 3 days and 3 nights. (Atonement required both blood and burnt offering): Leviticus 5:9-10 And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering. [10] And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him. (Abraham did not sacrifice the lamb, he sacrificed a ram; therefore Abraham's prophecy was not fulfilled in Genesis 22): A lamb is not a ram, therefore the ram Abraham sacrificed for a burnt offering did not fulfil Abraham's prophecy. A ram is not a lamb): Genesis 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. (Proof lambs and rams are not the same): Leviticus 23:18 And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD. Genesis 22:8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Luke 24:27 And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. (The blood sacrifice was half of that which is required for atonement and that blood sacrifice was finished on the cross; the burnt offering was yet to come. One malefactor went to paradise and the other to hell): Luke 23:39-43 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. [40] But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation? [41] And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss. [42] And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. [43] And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. Psalm 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. Jeremiah 23:23-24 Am I a God at hand, saith the LORD, and not a God afar off? [24] Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the Lord. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD. John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. John 19:30-31 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. (Jesus had received the natural water baptism from John the Baptist. This baptism that straitened Jesus was his fire baptism in the lake of fire which was to come after Jesus fulfilled his blood sacrifice on the cross to fulfil the atonement according to Leviticus 5 lines 9 and 10 and the burnt offering prophesied by Abraham in Genesis 22 line 8): Luke 12:49-50 I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? [50] But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! (Rightly divide the word of truth and learn the meaning of this cup to be the cup of indignation poured without mixture in the lake of fire): Luke 22:41-44 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, [42] Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. [43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. [44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Revelation 14:10-11 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: [11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. Luke 24:44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Job 30:27-31 My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me. [28] I went mourning without the sun: I stood up, and I cried in the congregation. [29] I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. [30] My skin is black upon me, and my bones are burned with heat. [31] My harp also is turned to mourning, and my organ into the voice of them that weep. Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. Hebrews 13:11-12 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp. [12] Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate. Jonah 1:17 Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. Jonah 2:1-6 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, [2] And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. [3] For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. [4] Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. [5] The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. [6] I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God. Deuteronomy 32:22-25 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. [23] I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. [24] They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. [25] The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. Jonah 2: [7] When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. [8] They that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy. [9] But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD. [10] And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Notice its punishment not punishing, 'Hell is not a place that exist anywhere in the universe'. 'There is no hell, we made it up we are sorry'. The idea of hell was created to control man. Its not real, never was real, never will be real. Pop John Paul 2..said this; God punishing someone in the hell myth makes no logical since. The hell myth is not realistic and is insane when examined. The bible teaches a different story while..Greek mythology is not part of the bible nor Gospel of Christ. Universal salvation is the only one that makes sense and makes God loving and merciful. No one perishes. The lake of fire is only to destroy the wicked nature not the person themselves. I share with you a parable that Jesus gave that has Greek Mythology in it. May the truth be known. The Pagan Greek Mythological Underworld and the after life. 1. Greek Mythology-- Spirits go to 2 different places after death. The rich man story teaches that spirits can go to one of 2 different places after death. 2. Greek Mythology-- One of the 2 places is for people who submitted to the Greek religion. Many preaches teach that the poor man went to where he went because he was a good Christian. 3. One of the 2 places is for people who did not submit to the Greek religion. Many preaches teach that the Rich man went to where he went because he was not a good Christian. 4. Greek Mythology-- One of the 2 places has fire in it. In the rich man story, there is fire in one of the places. 5. Greek Mythology-- One of the 2 places does not have fire in it. In the rich man story, there is no fire in one of the places. 6. Greek Mythology-- One of the 2 places has punishment in it. In the rich man story, there is punishment in one of the 2 places. 7. Greek Mythology-- One of the 2 places has no punishment in it. In the rich man story, there is no punishment in one of the 2 places. 8. Greek Mythology-- The 2 places are separated by a great gulf. In the rich man story, the 2 places are separated by a great gulf. 9. Greek Mythology-- If someone is in the 2 places, they can see each other. In the rich man story if someone is in the 2 places, they can see each other. Luke 16/26 10. Greek Mythology-- People in one of the 2 places can speak with someone that is in the other place. In the rich man story , if someone is in the 2 places, they can speak to each other. 11. Greek Mythology-- The fire in Hades is magic fire that can burn a spirit with out consuming it. In the rich man story, the fire, in Hades is magic fire that can burn a spirit with out consuming it. 12. Greek Mythology-- The purpose of the gulf that separates the 2 places is so people can not go from one place to the other unless of cores Zeus gives special permission. In the rich man story, the purpose of the gulf that separates the 2 places is so people can not go from one place to the other. Luke 16/26 13. Greek Mythology-- There is a ferry boat that can ferry people across from one side to the other. In the rich man story it speaks of people who are not able to ferry from one place to the other. Luke 16/26 14. Greek Mythology-- Bad place is called Hades. In the rich man story Hades is the bad place. There is a very obvious similarity between The story of the Rich man and Lazarus and Greek Mythology. Why is that? Theory-- Because Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and incorporating their falls traditional ideas (Greek Mythology) in to his parable because he knew they would understand it. Why ells do you think Jesus never spoke again about (Abraham's bosom)? Because it was a tradition that related only to the Pharisees. It was not teaching any one about how the after life works but merely incorporating their tradition/Greek Mythology, into a parable that they could understand. Luke 16:19-31 If lazarus in this parable did not have a physical body, water would be pointless. Why? Because it would just go right through him. We know when one dies their physical bodies do not disappear and go to ( magic fire land/ Hell) this proves the story is not literal. 1. Eph 2:7- have we judge him before time?. 2. 1Tim 2:4- can his will be thwarted? God desires all to come to the knowledge of truth- will his desire come to pass? 3. 1 Tim 2:6- salvation of all is tesified indue time, are we judging God before due time? 4. John 12:43 Jesus came to save all- will he succeed? 5. Eph 1:11 God works all after the counclie of his will- can your will overcome his? 6. John 4:42 Jesus is savior of the world- can he be savior of all without saving all? 7. John 4:14 Jesus is savior of the world- why dont we believe that? 8. John 12:32 Jesus will draw all mankind unto himself to roast or to love? 9. Eph 1:10 all come into him at the fullness of time- are you getting tired of seeing the word all? 10. Rom 5:15-21 in Adam all condemned in Christ all live- the same all? 11. Col 1:16 by him all where created- will he lose apart of his creation? 12. Acts 3:20 restitution of all- how plain can you get 13. Col 1:20 all reconciled unto god- theres that word all again 14. God will be all in all- what does that mean preacher? In the New Testament canon, Yeshua referred to "Gehenna," the valley of Hinnom, where garbage burned continually, corpses were sometimes deposited, and in earlier times, people had been sacrificed. He only referred to it to illustrate his lessons about spiritual growth and the Earthly realm--that the earthly body was meaningless and would be thrown on the garbage dump. Some suggest he was warning the entire Jewish nation that it must turn away from its Earthly focus and reform by being more concerned with spiritual growth and the inner person, and if it didn't, the Jews would be destroyed in fire. He was right, of course. Jerusalem and the temple were torched in 70 CE. However, he didn't refer to a hell as everlasting torment for people who didn't swear allegiance to him. By the time of the first English translations of the New Testament, the hell myth had been so well rooted in church tradition that where the translators saw "Gehenna," they simply inserted "hell" as the translation. That led to the misconception about hell being in the New Testament and in Yeshua's teaching. The Old Testament The Old Testament refers to "Sheol" (Hebrew) or "Hades" (Greek) as the place of the dead where all who die go. It simply means "unseen." In no instance in the Old Testament does it refer to a place of torment where people go after death. The Anglo-Saxon (English) word "hell" originally also meant "unseen," so it was a suitable translation from "Sheol" or "Hades." However, hell came to be the place of torment, fire, and brimstone in church tradition, so it lost its original meaning in Anglo-Saxon. Thomas B. Thayer on Hell in the Old Testament (From The Origin and History of the Doctrine of Endless Punishment by Thomas B. Thayer, 1855) Today, even the church is drawing back from the hell myth, realizing that it has no Biblical basis and is simply incompatible with a loving God. The word hell, in the Old Testament, is always a translation of the Hebrew word _Sheol,_which occurs sixty-four times, and is rendered "hell" thirty-two times, "grave" twenty-nine times, and "pit" three times. By examination of the Hebrew Scriptures it will be found that its radical or primary meaning is, The place or state of the dead. It is plain that it has here no reference to a place of endless torment after death. It is plain, then, from these citations, that the word Sheol, "hell," makes nothing for the doctrine of future unending punishment as a part of the Law penalties. It is never used by Moses or the Prophets in the sense of a place of torment after death; and in no way conflicts with the statement already proved, that the Law of Moses deals wholly in temporal rewards and punishments. This position, also, I wish to fortify by the testimony of Orthodox critics, men of learning and candor [who were currently professors of history and theology at Oxford when Thayer wrote]. They know, and therefore they speak. CHAPMAN. [Mark Chapman, Oxford theologian and historian] "Sheol, in itself considered, has no connection with future punishment." Cited by Balfour, First Inquiry. DR. ALLEN says: "The term sheol does not seem to mean, with certainty, anything more than the state of the dead in their deep abode." DR. CAMPBELL. "Sheol signifies the state of the dead without regard to their happiness or misery." DR. WHITBY. "Sheol throughout the Old Testament signifies not the place of punishment, or of the souls of bad men only, but the grave only, or the place of death." DR. MUENSCHER. [A distinguished author of Dogmatic History] "The souls or shades of the dead wander in sheol, the realm or kingdom of death, an abode deep under the earth. Thither go all men, without distinction, and hope for no return. There ceases all pain and anguish; there reigns an unbroken silence; there all is powerless and still; and even the praise of God is heard no more." VON COELLN. "Sheol itself is described as the house appointed for all living, which receives into its bosom all mankind, without distinction of rank, wealth, or moral character. It is only in the mode of death, and not in the condition after death, that the good are distinguished above the evil. The just, for instance, die in peace, and are gently borne away before the evil comes; while a bitter death breaks the wicked like as a tree." [
While I would disagree with your idea of “universal salvation” as much as I would the idea of “universal damnation” that is preached by so many, your remarks on hell are very true. Thank you for taking the time to write them. Hell is quite the myth made up to scare people into religion and allows them to create new ways of salvation while walking past the truth.
To the mouth of hell!!! in order to collect all the souls who died from the time of Adam & Eve, and the reason for this is because of original sin!! which closed the gates of heaven, as God is perfect and nothing except perfection is acceptable other than perfection; so then who else can reconcile sin!?? who else is perfect!?? God alone!! this didn’t mean God changed!!! NO” he provided the perfect sacrifice in order that “WE” be given the opportunity to!! and his suffering and mortal death upon the cross enabled this!!! so then when Jesus (mortally) died on good friday all the souls who were unable to enter paradise for they’re small sins were collected from the mouth of hell!! where they waited from the point of mortal death, and Jesus took them to paradise, and then on the third day he returned to his body and rose from the tomb.
@@loganspence1147 the grave in the OT is sheol where only soul and spirit go called hades in the greek. HELL is where body, soul and spirit go called gehenna in the greek which is an discriptive by the prophets of old for the valley of gehennom where the fire never ceases.
I'm sorry brother but there was only 1 bible answer man......Walter Martin. But I do enjoy the show. Jesus went to Sheol (place of the dead) or Hades........this is in the translations. great Job brother
He came HERE didn't He? This is about as hellish as it gets. I believe Jesus descended into death... and God raised Him into immortality. God speaks things that have not happened, as though they already have... All of the stories in the OT are allegorical pictures of events that are happening NOW (as in the days of Noah... so shall the coming of the Son of man be)! The law and prophets are being fulfilled right now! The carnsl mind of man always sees the Word as literal, and therefore, most of Christendom are in right field in their spiritusl understanding. Now we are to take up our cross and follow Him.
Ivan.... Each character represents a different facet of each one of us. The male and female represent Spirit and soul, with their offspring being represented by the fruit of the two merging in marriage. This is why Paul said for "Women (soul) is to be silent in the church... and be in subjection to her husband (Christ)." We are the body of Christ's church, male and female created He them... living stones built together into the true temple of God. God is NEVER speaking outwardly... always inwardly. The only Temple in the true, new Jerusalem is between our ears. That is the holy land. As Romans 3 so eloquently tells us, "Israel is not one OUTWARDLY, but INWARDLY!" That is Paul speaking!
Bible answers man, why do people ask you Biblical questions when you don't know the Bible ?.You should shut down so you won't deceive people anymore. The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus went to Hell "Hades", Jesus died Spiritualy, took our sins, and the penalty for sin is Spiritual death, and the penalty for Spiritual death is Hell. There's more religion than regeneration about you.
In part I agree that Jesus didn't finish His redemption work on the cross it had to have its fulfilment on earth among men but now, He will complete all needed, both on earth as eternal life, (spiritual), that is why He descended into hades, (hell).
It simply means “THE PLACE OF THE DEAD” or “the place of departed souls/spirits.” The New Testament Greek equivalent of sheol is HADES, which also refers to “the place of the dead.”
Other Scriptures in the New Testament indicate that sheol/hades is a TEMPORARY place, where souls are kept as they await the final resurrection and judgment.
Unfortunately, in many versions of the Bible, translators are not consistent, or correct, in how they translate the Hebrew and Greek words for “sheol,” “hades,” and “hell.”
Some have the viewpoint that Jesus went to “hell” or the suffering side of sheol/hades in order to further be punished for our sins.
Yes.

Thank you excellent
I have two questions then (great exposition btw):
Looks like a contradiction if one believes in the Traditional Teachings that leads to many questions such as these
Hmm....you sound like me for the past 25 years. Absolutely. May you be continually blessed with Holy Spirit discernment in Jesus name.
This man knows his Bible thats for sure. God bless u brother 🙏🏼💯☦
Great point though
The apostles creed is acatholic teaching????
@@lapusenier5466 Yes. It is not an Eastern teaching for sure! The Nicene Creed doesn't mention it at all! The Eastern church understand He went to Hades (Hosea 13:14) but according to Scripture Hell is synonymous to the lake of fire"unquenchable," where the devil and his angels are headed along with those who reject Christ! Matt 25:41
@@GraceBride was Jesus in Abraham’s bosom?
Nice explanation Hank.
Acts 2:31 KJV
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, THAT HIS SOUL WAS NOT LEFT IN HELL, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Today you will be with me in paradise.
It says that Jesus preached the gospel to the people in hell.
1petr 3:19
Actually it says prison. Are sinners not in prison?
Hades. Not hell.
Sheol is where he went, the realm of departed spirits, is comprised of 2 parts Paradise and Hades
Can you prove this with scripture?
@@e.garcia618 luke 16
@@rexsheeley8177
1- prove it's a 2 part place by scripture
2- Show us why according to scripture there are departed spirits there.
In Revelation 1:18 Jesus says, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”
Hank, what is that big Bible you are using with the highlights and notes? I’m interested
The greek word sometimes translated sometimes as hell does not refer to a place of torment but rather a place in the afterlife more like limbo.
Sheol : realm of the departed spirits comprised of 2 separate and distinct places Paradise and Hades
*_Where Was Jesus for Three Days Between His Death and His Resurrection?_*
▬ He was in the tomb for 3 days and 3 nights, just as He said He would be
(Matthew 12:40).
▬ He was DEAD. He said so in Revelation 1:18. He couldn't go anywhere.
▬ The "hell" He went to (Acts 2:31) was the grave, His tomb. "Hell" in that verse
is from the Greek word ᾅδου or hades -the grave, the place where the dead are
laid to rest. The very same word ᾅδου is translated "grave" here in 1 Corinthians
15:55:
⚫ "O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?"
▬ Was Jesus in paradise the same day (Luke 23:43)? No, He was in the tomb. He
did not even ascend to the Father until after His resurrection (John 20:17). There
were no commas in the original texts; the comma before "To day" in Luke 23:43
was added by translators -in the wrong place. There are some Bibles that get it
right (comma after "To day" in The Scriptures 2009 and the Faithful Version, eg)
or leave the comma out entirely (FBV Free Bible Version and The Curetonian
Version of the Four Gospels).
▬ Did Jesus bring saints with Him when He ascended? No. *Key evidence* is
Peter's statement (many days after Jesus ascended!) that David *_"is both dead
and buried"_* (Acts 2:29) and had *_not_* ascended to heaven (Acts 2:34).
More key evidence is in 1 Tim 6:15,16: Jesus alone has immortality. Just as Paul
explained in 1 Cor 15:50-54 and 1 Thess 4:13-17, the dead in Christ remain in
their graves until they are resurrected at Jesus' return. Note that even before His
death Jesus stated no man - other than Himself - had gone to heaven (John 3:13).
▬ The "spirits in prison" that Jesus made proclamation to (1 Peter 3:19) were the
corrupted *angels* who had been figuratively "chained up" because they had
crossed the line in their interactions with humans back in Noah's time. Jude 6 and
2 Peter 2:4 describe their incarceration . . ."hell" in 2 Peter 2:4 is from the Greek
word ταρταρωσας or tartaroo, a verb meaning to cast into incarceration. Jesus -
the Word that was with the Father from the beginning (John 1:1-3) - made
proclamation to those fallen angels at the time they were incarcerated -not while
He was dead in His tomb.
▬ What happens when you assume "hell" in Acts 2:31 means a place of fiery
torment, and you assume Jesus was in paradise the same day He died??? You get
ridiculous theories about paradise being a "compartment" in that fiery hell. That is
what happens when you try to build doctrine upon falsehood.
Jesus was dead, in the tomb, for three days and nights. He ascended to the Father
after His resurrection.
Like David, all the Old Testament and (deceased) New Testament saints are still in
their graves, and will remain there until their promised resurrection at Jesus'
return.
▬ What about the spirit that Jesus asked the Father to receive when He was dying
. . . does that mean Jesus had a spirit of some sort that continued alive - and
maybe went to paradise - after He died?
No. In the original Greek text the "spirit" was Jesus' _pneuma_ - His breath -
which He asked the Father to receive:
⚫ "And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your
hands I commit My spirit.’ ” Having said this, He breathed His last." (Luke 23:46,
NKJV).
When Stephen was martyred, he did the same: He asked the Lord to receive his
spirit - his _pneuma_ - his breath of life (Acts 7:59).
Without the breath of of life, the body is dead:
⚫ "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
(James 2:26)
"Spirit" in that verse is from that same Greek word _pneuma._ Today the word
_pneuma_ persists: we have "pneumatic" - air powered - tools.
When God created Adam, He breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (Gen
That's what I'm going to believe anyway,
He did pay the price for sin, sin is separation from God. He that knew no sin became sin.
he became sin offering like a spotless lamb he was.
Yes, Christ is risen from the dead, trampling down death by death, and upon those in the tombs, bestowing life!
Grave and Hell are not the same.
Psalm 139:7-8:
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
Cuz logically if you think about it, if Jesus went to preach to the souls in prison, and preach to the people that r in the side of Torment, or @ the bottom of Tartarus
that would mean they could now get a second chance to go to heaven.
that means everybody that goes to hell today they're going to get a second chance, that would only be fair for people that lived in the NT.
@@onlylove556 its the word ' preach '
Jesus didn't go to preach the message of salvation to them, he went to preach to the spirits in Tartarus that were there because of the extreme evil deeds of Genesis 6.
Why you are telling lies. In your Bible says Acts 25:19 But paul claims that he (Jesus) is alive. It means he did not die on the cross.
Yes, preaching the gospel of the kingdom to souls that had died due to the Law.
jesus never said the thief would be with him in heaven ..but parradise where abraham was
True....Paradise used to be at Sheol but not anymore....for regenerated Christians after this life they go to be with the Lord in Heaven. There is a chasm that used to divide the righteous and the unrighteous in Sheol. Jesus took all the saints with Him into heaven after visiting them in Paradise that three days.
@@bertedmund67 You---Jesus took all the saints with Him into heaven after visiting them in Paradise that three days.
Give me an scripture for this, and a parallel scripture,
Your conjecture means nothing
He did not die after having healed the son of Pilate and being taken down to be treated by Josephus and Brother Archangel Michael and Gabriel in the Tomb. Priests made that up. Blessings
@drdarrylschroeder5691 Why deny the death of the Christ? No evidence for Jesus surviving the cross and being treated by Josephus and the angels Michael and Gabriel. See www.equip.org/articles/the-f-e-a-t-that-demonstrates-the-fact-of-resurrection/
@@BibleAnswerMan Greetings - Rather than denying the death of the Nazarene without proof, one is instead presenting the evidence of this fabrication by the priesthood revising the Scriptures for presentation in Biblical form two millennia ago by stating that the first Bishop of the Church consulted with all the Disciples, which Apostles unanimously declared that the Master had survived the Crucifixion. This also appears printed in the Holy Father's book, Against All Heresies. As is stated in The Winds of Truth under the Authorship of Lord Mikaal (Archangel Michael), who is the Second of the Twelve Rays or Sons of GOD breathed into Being by the Father, GOD never intended for His First Son Jesias (His real name) to be MURDERED. He was in fact horrified. Human sacrifice and blood are an abomination unto the Lord. This practice by the evil priests in the latter era of the Second Egyptian Dynasty led to the downfall of the entire epoch. It later resulted in the exactly the same demise of Atlantis in its Second and final period. This has led to our present pitiful state of spirituality. We only managed to drag ourselves up to the fourth dimension by the Harmonic Convergence of 1987. We are now finally on our way back to the fifth dimension and the new Golden Age of the Earth by 2032. We are gradually having our original twelve strands of DNA restored during the hours of sleep. We have to work very hard to reach that status by then. All the other Eleven Universes have long held this dimensional frequency and our now eagerly watching our progress and assisting us invisibly in every way they can for our own evolution and that of the ascension of our Lady Gaia, Mother Earth.

He experienced hell on the cross for 3 hours Even God turned away from his own son He then died and. As ended and later returned and was seen by disciples and many others until he ascended 40 days later
Thinking on these lines the other day it occurred to me that where Jesus said that " there is only one good, God "
That even Jesus had sin.
Are you a Jehowas Witnes quoting YOUR Bible???
You should stick to the Word and forget teaching your opinion as Word.
excellent point just a tad bit rude dont ya think? been there done that
The thief next to him died cruel death, then got a treat.
So r u saying that Jesus didn't go to sheol/Abraham's bosom for those 3days?
R is it your just expressing that the kjv and other translations didn't Translate sheol correctly?
@mdelaney9008 Thanks for sharing. 🙏
NON- CUPORIAL
I used to hear it all the time whenever I tried to listen to Hank Hannegraf answer man shows.
Excellent see the book by Hobart freeman concerning JDS error
Christ did not descend to hell but did suffer, as if he had, in the Garden of Gethsemane where he sacrificed himself for the sins of the repentant- he did also go to an intermediate place called the Spirit World as explained to Barnabus on the cross, to teach the spirits of people who have/will die before the judgment and resurrection.
2:20 essentially yes, He went to Hades. Doesn't specify which part, does it? Nope.
Temple ordinances enable you to receive guidance and peace, prepare for eternal life, be sealed to your family for eternity, and provide saving ordinances for your deceased ancestors."
Remember what the Apostle Peter stated "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:9) and from Paul "“If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.” (1 Corinthians 15:19). Very thoughtful response. I like this
So are you saying that Jesus went to hell where the demons and the reprobates burning in the eternal fire? He did not go to Paradise of Hades?
@@rumpold131
Jesus go to Abraham bosom with Dimas the repentant thief first, and a painting depicted the difference between a repentant sinner and a righteous souls in Abraham bosom. the painting if you happen to see one, depicted Dimas lying in the floor like a sick beggar and naked while Abraham and all the souls behind him wear a "white robe" meaning their souls are ready to meet God in Heaven.
The Divine Mercy of God is greater than all the sins combined,
"The Divine Mercy of God in Infinite but the Time of Mercy is Not."(pope Francis)
Read 1Timothy2:4. My Jesus mercy.
So there are no people in hell?

I would like to say that Hank no longer holds this view, since he is now Eastern Orthodox and holds to the harrowing of hell position.
@Andrew Collop You have misunderstood Hank. In this video Hank addresses the error that Christ had to suffer in hell to complete the work of atonement, which is commonly taught by Word of Faith teachers. Hank has never changed his mind about that false teaching.
Hank has given attention to the early Christian teaching from the Scriptures on the mystery of Christ descent into Hades associated with Holy Saturday between the Passion and Pascha in this video: ua-cam.com/video/Kyf4U2_v-Js/v-deo.html
Neither video actually contradict.
Jesus was referring to Hades in the context of a parable, not an actual place.
Those souls that are in hell are considered dead even though they are conscience and aware. They are not considered to be the living.
The beggar had a name. Lazarus. I remember Mr. Hunt teaching Luke 16 was a parable.
Not a parable. Parables never. Never. Mentions anyone's name ever.
So did Jesus bring Paradise back with Him to the Father when He ascends to Heaven from Hades?
Hi, no, there's NO clear teaching on this,Enoch went UP to Heaven,Elijah went UP to heaven, the myth about heaven being in the heart of the earth is false and Abraham's bosom is not a place.
Luke 16 with the rich man and Lazarus is a parable

Not true, Jesus went into the heart of the earth that is hell and to all those who died in the Great flood of Noah and others he also brought with him those in Abraham bosom into heaven. Most theologians are not born again.

I Peter 3:19-20
[19] by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, [20] who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
Colossians 2:14-15
[14] having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. [15] Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
Hebrews 2:14-15
[14] Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, [15] and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
Hebrews 10:10
[10] By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the BODY of Jesus Christ once for all.
Hebrews 13:11-12
[11] For the bodies of those animals, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned outside the camp.
I responded to you earlier today with verses that show 2 things:
Jesus took the keys from Hades
Grow in grace and in the knowledge of God and of Christ.
just want say this headline is insulting get grip THE SON OF GOD DIED FOR US GOING HELL if he went hell wats going happen all us disgravefull comment

Jesus burned in hell for 3 days and 3 nights.
(Atonement required both blood and burnt offering):
Leviticus 5:9-10
And he shall sprinkle of the blood of the sin offering upon the side of the altar; and the rest of the blood shall be wrung out at the bottom of the altar: it is a sin offering. [10] And he shall offer the second for a burnt offering, according to the manner: and the priest shall make an atonement for him for his sin which he hath sinned, and it shall be forgiven him.
(Abraham did not sacrifice the lamb, he sacrificed a ram; therefore Abraham's prophecy was not fulfilled in Genesis 22):
A lamb is not a ram, therefore the ram Abraham sacrificed for a burnt offering did not fulfil Abraham's prophecy. A ram is not a lamb):
Genesis 22:13
And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
(Proof lambs and rams are not the same):
Leviticus 23:18
And ye shall offer with the bread seven lambs without blemish of the first year, and one young bullock, and two rams: they shall be for a burnt offering unto the LORD, with their meat offering, and their drink offerings, even an offering made by fire, of sweet savour unto the LORD.
Genesis 22:8
And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.
John 1:29
The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Luke 24:27
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:44
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
(The blood sacrifice was half of that which is required for atonement and that blood sacrifice was finished on the cross; the burnt offering was yet to come.
One malefactor went to paradise and the other to hell):
Luke 23:39-43
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

John 3:13
And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
John 19:30-31
When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
(Jesus had received the natural water baptism from John the Baptist. This baptism that straitened Jesus was his fire baptism in the lake of fire which was to come after Jesus fulfilled his blood sacrifice on the cross to fulfil the atonement according to Leviticus 5 lines 9 and 10 and the burnt offering prophesied by Abraham in Genesis 22 line 8):
Luke 12:49-50
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? [50] But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished!
(Rightly divide the word of truth and learn the meaning of this cup to be the cup of indignation poured without mixture in the lake of fire):
Luke 22:41-44
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
[42] Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.
[43] And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.
[44] And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Revelation 14:10-11
The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: [11] And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
Luke 24:44
And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
Job 30:27-31
My bowels boiled, and rested not: the days of affliction prevented me.
Matthew 12:40
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Hebrews 13:11-12
For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
[12] Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.
Jonah 1:17
Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.
Jonah 2:1-6
Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly,
[2] And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.
Deuteronomy 32:22-25
For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
Jonah 2:
[7] When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple.
Acts 2:31
He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Don’t they realize heaven was closed to all souls and he went to Purgatory to bring them to heaven
Notice its punishment not punishing,
'Hell is not a place that exist anywhere in the universe'. 'There is no hell, we made it up we are sorry'.
The idea of hell was created to control man. Its not real, never was real, never will be real.
Pop John Paul 2..said this;
God punishing someone in the hell myth makes no logical since.
Luke 16/26
Luke 16/26
13. Greek Mythology-- There is a ferry boat that can ferry people across from one side to the other.
In the rich man story it speaks of people who are not able to ferry from one place to the other. Luke 16/26
14. Greek Mythology-- Bad place is called Hades.
In the rich man story Hades is the bad place.
There is a very obvious similarity between The story of the Rich man and Lazarus and Greek Mythology.
Why is that?
Theory--
Because Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and incorporating their falls traditional ideas (Greek Mythology) in to his parable because he knew they would understand it.
Why ells do you think Jesus never spoke again about (Abraham's bosom)?
Because it was a tradition that related only to the Pharisees.
It was not teaching any one about how the after life works but merely incorporating
their tradition/Greek Mythology, into a parable that they could understand.
Luke 16:19-31
If lazarus in this parable did not have a physical body, water would be pointless.
12. Acts 3:20 restitution of all- how plain can you get
13. Col 1:20 all reconciled unto god- theres that word all again
The Old Testament
The Old Testament refers to "Sheol" (Hebrew) or "Hades" (Greek) as the place of the dead where all who die go.
Thomas B. Thayer on Hell in the Old Testament
(From The Origin and History of the Doctrine of Endless Punishment by Thomas B. Thayer, 1855)
Today, even the church is drawing back from the hell myth, realizing that it has no Biblical basis and is simply incompatible with a loving God.
DR. ALLEN says: "The term sheol does not seem to mean, with certainty, anything more than the state of the dead in their deep abode."
DR. CAMPBELL. "Sheol signifies the state of the dead without regard to their happiness or misery."
DR. WHITBY. "Sheol throughout the Old Testament signifies not the place of punishment, or of the souls of bad men only, but the grave only, or the place of death."
DR. MUENSCHER. [A distinguished author of Dogmatic History] "The souls or shades of the dead wander in sheol, the realm or kingdom of death, an abode deep under the earth. Thither go all men, without distinction, and hope for no return. There ceases all pain and anguish; there reigns an unbroken silence; there all is powerless and still; and even the praise of God is heard no more."
VON COELLN. "Sheol itself is described as the house appointed for all living, which receives into its bosom all mankind, without distinction of rank, wealth, or moral character. It is only in the mode of death, and not in the condition after death, that the good are distinguished above the evil. The just, for instance, die in peace, and are gently borne away before the evil comes; while a bitter death breaks the wicked like as a tree."

James McCluskey Jesus Christ, why don’t you publish that book you just wrote. There is no way I’ll take 8 hours of my time to read all that.
Bit long winded for a you tube comment
How do you know hell is made up?
NO” he provided the perfect sacrifice in order that “WE” be given the opportunity to!! and his suffering and mortal death upon the cross enabled this!!! so then when Jesus (mortally) died on good friday all the souls who were unable to enter paradise for they’re small sins were collected from the mouth of hell!! where they waited from the point of mortal death, and Jesus took them to paradise, and then on the third day he returned to his body and rose from the tomb.
matt kylie would you stake your salvation on these statements? You better be right...having a wrong comprehension is very very dangerous.
In the Grave... Christ never went to hell... The bible is clear.. It says..In the grave... Got it? Good..
the grave is hell...
just like hell is the grave
@@loganspence1147 the grave in the OT is sheol where only soul and spirit go called hades in the greek. HELL is where body, soul and spirit go called gehenna in the greek which is an discriptive by the prophets of old for the valley of gehennom where the fire never ceases.
@@loganspence1147 so your saying the soul remains in the grave....
I'm sorry brother but there was only 1 bible answer man......Walter Martin. But I do enjoy the show. Jesus went to Sheol (place of the dead) or Hades........this is in the translations. great Job brother
Reverend---this erases everything you said!
Bill, really??? HOW is eg the story about David and Bathsheba allegorical???
By the way, Ivan... I have no malice against you or what you believe... Peace to you... even if you do not agree.
Hell means Hell take Gods word for what it says.
For the TRUTH according to the BIBLE - look up "Jesus Suffered Our Punishment In Hell - Pastor Steven L. Anderson "
He's taking a full rest
Bible answers man, why do people ask you Biblical questions when you don't know the Bible ?.You should shut down so you won't deceive people anymore.
The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus went to Hell "Hades", Jesus died Spiritualy, took our sins, and the penalty for sin is Spiritual death, and the penalty for Spiritual death is Hell.
There's more religion than regeneration about you.
Temporary until judgement....Jesus went and preached to those souls/saints that never knew him, and now they do.
In part I agree that Jesus didn't finish His redemption work on the cross it had to have its fulfilment on earth among men but now, He will complete all needed, both on earth as eternal life, (spiritual), that is why He descended into hades, (hell).
Wrong
he went to Paradise ,,the upper half of the Hadean Realm
