In this lesson, I have also explained what makes Taiwanese Mandarin so special in terms of our accent, the word choice compared to Mainland Chinese accent. Examples are provided with traditional Chinese, simplified Chinese, pinyin and Bopomofo zhuyin注音.
You'd also hear these phrases constantly in the TV dramas or movies. I also use them all the time with my friends. Again, Chinese textbooks are great, your Chinese teacher might be great too, but these are the phrases are unlikely to hear in a classroom setting. I encourage you to watch lots of Taiwanese dramas or movies to get the feels of the authenticity of Taiwanese mandarin.

看了這部影片後好懷念台灣喔。尤其是前三個 超親切的!哈哈哈
我覺得常用”超”,”喔” and “齁”就幾乎可以馬上變台灣人:
“超”好吃的, “超”棒的,
好可愛”喔” (影片裡提到)
最後不管說什麼都在句尾加個”齁~”
感覺你很瞭解台灣呢! 對。。。每天都齁來齁去😅 哈哈哈

Love love love! There's so little resources on Taiwanese mandarin. I go back to Taipei every thanksgiving to visit my partners family, and I'm always itching to learn (he teaches me too few of things haha). This is wonderful. Thank you
😊💗加油加油💪Keep up the good work
Love this video! I was born in Taiwan, went to Chinese school taught mostly by Taiwanese teachers and go back to Taiwan often, but I still find my Mandarin isn’t spoken the same way as a native Taiwanese speaker. Maybe it’s because I converse with my parents, who are older Boomers and don’t really use these cutesier/more casual phrases that younger generations would use. Haha. I would add that if you say 不會 in response to 謝謝 that sounds really Taiwanese! (Person 1: 謝謝! Person 2: 不會!) Even better if you learn a couple common Taiwanese/台語 phrases, a lot of people mix Taiwanese with Mandarin too. It’s my favorite part of watching Taiwanese dramas, learning new Taiwanese phrases or seeing what I can understand.
That’s right!! Spoken Chinese is another thing. I’m having a web class today and next week about how to speak Taiwanese mandarin naturally. Feel free to join in! my.demio.com/ref/fdwUwvjSNN0cMFWh
I knew more than 50% of these phrases through my Taiwanese friends, hope to learn more phrases. 😁 thank you
Jamie Shah Stay tuned! I’m making part 2 😁 第二集要來嘍💗 謝謝你
That moment when you've watched so many Taiwanese dramas that you already know most of these by heart 😅😅
Listening to you and working to speed up my speaking Chinese by imitating your intonation is a very encouraging exercise for me. Thank you.
不會 也謝謝你喔 Thanks! Glad it’s helpful! Please do not hesitate to share it with other learners or give me a shoutout on social media. It means a world 😊

I love your teaching style! very helpful thanks :D Looking forward to learning more mandarin from you!
I want to learn Mandarin.... The Taiwanese way. During my middle school days in the Philippines, I kind of swayed my interest learning Mandarin after abrupt curriculum change (from ROC-based to PRC-based) without any explanation. Good thing I spent my 2019 New Year at Taipei and made me appreciate Mandarin again.
Ohh can you tell me what some of those changes were just curious :)
My mom is taiwanese and I've been using the 蛤 subconsciously my whole life
很棒喔👍😂that’s a good one. You’re a true Taiwanese for sure. I’ll talk about this in my future video too

This is cool! My wife is Taiwanese and most of the Mandarin I’ve been learning has Mainland accents and phrases and my wife says I need to learn “correct” Mandarin (Taiwan Mandarin in other words.) By the way, another phrase that is distinctly used in Taiwan is 早安 for good morning instead 早上好
Hey jelly

Thank you for your content. I’ve been trying to relearn more Chinese since I moved back home from Taiwan. It’s so refreshing to see your videos when all I can usually find is stuff from China or only in the Chinese dialect. 謝謝老師!我加油!
Yeah I know, most of them are from China. Thank for your message. 謝謝你 一起加油
I'm from malaysia, chinese ethnic. Over here from primary one all students learn their 3 languages ie. Mandarin/Tamil, malay language and english.
When one has completed secondary school, one should have learned 3 languages unless you choose to enroll in a malay medium.national school, you only get to learn bahasa malaysia/malay and english only. I speak malaysian cantonese. I watched hk tvb, taiwan hokkien movies and china mandarin movies besides english n.malay.movies. 🙂
Other than mandarin, chinese over here speak other dialects like cantonese, hokkien, hakka, teochew n hokchew. Depending which part of malaysia one is from.
Beautiful. Taiwanese Mandarin. Thank you.

Thank you for your videos!!! I really want to go to Taiwan next year for school but I get nervous because everyone says they have a hard time understanding textbook Mandarin versus real life spoken Mandarin. Not only that, but I've heard accents throw a lot of students off too, because most of the Mandarin taught in person or online is more "standard". But vids like these make me less nervous :)
I lived in TW for almost 4 years. Part of my heart is still there.
