I even counted all my utensils separately not as a set…Also did you know the average household has 300,000 objects 😮 Side note: yes I did a typo - possessions 🤦♀️
Thank you … I know 0.1% 😂 and it shows us how many items people may use also even when travelling but with these ‘living’ items provided. Such as cookware and bedding. I thought it was interesting that the kitchen actually took up 92 of the 203 items so nearly half 😂 then I reckon we have about 30 items for plants and candles which are obviously not necessary but what we enjoy. Then another 30 nearly for actual furniture or containers in the bathroom. I honestly can’t imagine what a house with 300,000 items looks like 😂
I was also inspired by Matt to count my items, cuz I got curious to know what I had. I ended up with about 1500 but I counted every item that could be separated and used separately - so every photo, every utensil, every paper clip. If I did if Matt's way, I think I'd probably be closer to about 800 items? It was an interesting exercise for sure.
Wow! Love this. Gives me an idea what 200ish shared items look like. So, if I just take out the children's items out of the equation, I may be a lot closer to being considered a minimalist! 👐 Since this video, with your 40 day Lent challenge plus the extra work you are doing to get ready to emigrate, that might actually be around 125-150. 😮
great video! I already decluttered my entire apartment and it's so satisfying. I couldn't imagine going back to "normal". It's really true, the thing you own end up owning you.
Very true 😊 it’s mad to think the same satisfaction people get from spending money, can also be attained from letting go of items. I know which I prefer 😊 and the results don’t leave me with empty pockets 💸 😂 just a tranquil and peaceful home 🏡 😊 🕊️
It’s an enlightening and fun thing to do. 😊 Especially when you break everything down into categories. I realised I had about 50 containers for keeping things tidy in my very small bathroom and kitchen. I can’t believe they took up nearly a quarter of the shared possessions. It would be incredibly messy without them though. As we do use everything inside them. That is, hygiene products, food, coffee etc. I also counted my macrame plant hangings and pots separately, along with candles as you obviously have seen in the video and that was approx 30 to 40 items. I definitely think people with smaller homes are probably disadvantaged at trying to create the illusion of space rather than just having space 😂. As obviously in big homes there are probably many built in drawers and cupboards to organise or conceal items 😂.
@@SagelifeMinimalism Yes I agree. 💜 After I finished watching your video I thought 💭 “Why not count what I have left?” Oy vey! After two years of consistent decluttering I still have approximately 1350 items… which also includes all my clothes and personal items, plus my vehicle and everything in it too. Granted everything that I have, minus the furniture would fit in my car with empty space to possibly fit a couple small pieces of furniture. It still seems like a lot though. Now I am a candle lover like you. I used to make candles, until recently I was inspired to declutter all my supplies. At one point early in 2022 I decided to count how many candle holders I had… a whopping 108! 😂 I immediately decluttered half of them. And now I’m down to about 25 strewn throughout my house. At some point before the end of the year I’ll probably let go of more. Candles are my one decorating/comfort indulgence and they are my only knickknacks. Thank you 🙏 for your continued inspiration. ❤️❤️❤️ Watching your videos is like sitting down with a good friend and having a wonderful conversation.
@Amyavalon1844 thank you that’s a lovely compliment. I know candles give us so much I think 😂 they give atmosphere, ambience, if you have essential oil they give aromatherapy 😂 I’ve recently just ran out of my soy wax and decided I’m not going to replace it as it’s very expensive at the moment. So non paraffin tea lights only 😊for me currently . That’s pretty good going 1350 items. I couldn’t believe how many actual storage containers I had in order to actually keep things neat - I think I had about 40 in the kitchen and 10 in the bathroom. But things would definitely start to look messy without them. But again, what a lovely compliment. When I hear such lovely feedback and comments from you all, it really does help me talk to you all on a personal level. Just like a video voice recorded message that I know you’re all going to receive and listen to ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
@@SagelifeMinimalism Yeah it’s the containers… Hehe! We have a huge chain store here in the states called The Container Store… and they are very expensive containers. I always ask myself before buying more containers if I could get rid of my stuff first, so as not to buy more things. ❤️
I thought i would have 423 items 😂😂 i have 95 😅😂 ( i counted everything) ❤ proud of myself that im still an extreme minimalist 😊❤ Great video 😊 Hugs from me in Sweden 😊
I had never counted the decor until I watched this, I wrote it down just for fun. I counted 310 items in total for just myself (clothing, perfume, house stuff, etc), in 3000 sq ft, but a few of those items I share with my partner (ie: coffee mugs). I am sure I forgot some things, as well as didn't count things other things I share with him such as pillow cases. haha. I didn't buy any of the utensils here, or certain appliances, so I didn't count those things, it complicates things. I cheated and didn't count every piece of jewelry, I counted the whole jewelry box instead 😂😂😂😂!!!!
😂 I suppose you could call it your jewellery collection - 1 collection, Especially if it’s just in one box. It does get confusing sometimes 😂 I’ll have some things sometimes I count separately, but then others I don’t which sometimes I even confuse myself about. So now I usually count it in terms of uses 😂 ie: my sentimental item pouch has no use other than being for sentimental value so I count it as one. Even though there’s about 8 things in it. 😂

Ha! 😁 I was just going to type since most households have around 300,000 items, you two are doing great. ❤

@@SagelifeMinimalism Well I could tell you because my mother was a hoarder. It’s scary! 😂

I'm curious about counting g my items now that we downsized into our tiny home!😮😊

You’ve inspired me to declutter some more. I’ve already decluttered around 3000 things this year so far, but I’m all for having less. ❤
Wow that’s brilliant 🤩 and it’s amazing isn’t it because after it’s all gone you think 🤔 where on earth did that all fit 😂
