Well have to claw our way back to glory in the series where it all started here on Guns, Nerds, and Steel - The Vanguard Series. I'll need your help as I explore the world, fight the zombies, and build one of our biggest Horde Bases yet!

THIS is what I've been waiting for. IzPrebuilt, Woodle, and Glock are great, but no one makes 7d videos quite like GNS. So excited for a new series, lets goooooooooooo

Oh yeah, drive thru booze. We had them in West Texas. They'd even make you a mix drink and wrap it in a plastic bag so that it's not an "open container." 😂

Hey I've always wondered, do you have ones that also sell guns? Even if it's a walking liquor store? Jw bc of media. I'm from the South as well so if it's just how they portray yall I totally get it!
@lmdirkdiggler7170 Depending on how small/isolated the town is, you could buy a gun just about anywhere. I don't recall seeing guns being sold at liquor stores, but I never really looked for it either. It didn't cross my mind that selling guns everywhere was strange until after I had moved away. I do remember finding it strange that the process for buying my first shotgun was much simpler and faster than the process for getting my first hunting license was.

Fairly common in Georgia too. Along with a few Pharmacy/Gun Stores next door to them.
We call em Brew Throughs in NC. Do recommend. Some even offer bbq, not always good bbq, but some is really good.

That drive thru liquor POI is one of my goto first bases/camp... concrete all round, 1 garage door and the other one/exit one is locked. I love using it, dig a hole thru the ceiling from inside, that usually only has 2 or 3 zombies in the POI.. Great base start.
My wife literally did the same thing yesterday with the same reasons. Haha
been through 6 cities on my map so far and havent found one yet :( i really LOVED the old big fire stations that they removed awhile ago, they were the go to building even though they were big and expensive to defend
In my first Darkness Falls run with my brother, that unnamed POI you got infected at was where I made my first shack to store stuff!
6:57 I like what they did with that construction camp. This is the kind of stuff I like to see. Very creative. Apparently, the excavator operator was either suffering from the virus or lost control of the equipment some other way, demolishing those erstwhile pristine trailers. Great environmental storytelling going on there.

Toilet knife was a clutch find.
I don’t think in 2000 hrs I’ve ever found a toilet knife. 9mm pistols ALL THE TIME like a meme 😂 but I really don’t think I’ve pulled a knife
@@bannankev I somehow manage to find both a toilet pistol and a toilet knife within 2 hours every time someone in my group is running agility, even if I'm not, but if nobody is running agility I never find the knife only a couple pistols. Which are still clutch even when not running agility until you find a decent weapon you're putting points into.

I'm not an OG, I started in Frostbite, but man am I stoked to watch you play a 1.0 series. Consistently some of my favorite content to watch
As a newbie 7 Days player (6 months or so) your videos help me a lot!!
I'm on day 6 of my first 1.0 playthrough with 300% XP gain, 200% loot and default difficulty. You're already way ahead of my progress with your normal XP/loot and harder zombies. You're so efficient, I'm thinking of just starting over and copying your strategies play by play :)
So I got on today to explore beta 1.0. Early game I came across a tree house P.0.I. just as a small wondering horde came by. With a lvl 1 wooden club in hand and a bone knife for bleed I took a stand in thar tree house thinking I have an advantage over the zombies climbing up ladder to get to me. Sadly, but at lass I trapped myself with no way out as the horde pushed their filthy undead hands, bodies, and endless hunger into me. I cried out to no one “I thought I was safe up here” in a pathetically whiny yet Joker sort of laughter as I died. I had a small laugh as I respawned back into the world determined to reclaim my loss goods. Very much enjoying all the additions in 1.0 7 days to die. I am also very happy to see what story you tell in these awesome professionally done videos you post here on UA-cam.

We decided to check out the earlier Vanguard series (we aren't OG enough to have seen it when you first put it out) and I encourage everyone to go back and watch it, if for no other reason than to enjoy early Temrecki, who was a potty mouthed Bob Ross (as another commenter pointed out). You've come a long way!
Honestly, the biggest hype about this new update for me, has to the new armors & definitely new vehicles. Like the 4x4 monster truck is a beast and a half

You've got a great start! I'm going to shamelessly copy your idea of a little elevated base right outside the trader door if I can't find a suitable rooftop within a reasonable distance to hole up on. That's a great idea!
When you switched over to the athletic shoes and were justifying it
Expectations: "We are speccing into the medium armor and the run speed is really going to help us with our Agility points. Besides we don't need all the armor in the world right now so maybe it'll be worth it"
Reality: "I don't want to wear sandals!"

Toilet knife was a nice find, I found a toilet pistol and a wrench in first car I looted, suggestion for the fetch quest get the satchel ASAP then loot. I think everyone has left fetch quest and forgot to get the darn thing

This is gonna be legendary!
I normally start with Miner69er as you can easy get 40%damage boost with axes and pickaxes. You start off rough as you cannot do heavy attacks with the stone axe, but I took out 5 soldiers at level 10 with relative ease with a grade 5 stone axe. No parkour needed. Just smart thinking. Wood blocks and shutters are your friends. You get a massive damage boost once you can buy or make iron axe. I normally send Zombies flying with the steel Axe and get a lot of heads flying. Miner69 makes you use much less stamina and that is the real win!
Yes drive through liquor stores exist in US, too. Down in Savannah, GA and also Jesup, GA where I used to live, they had some. That place was busier than McDonalds!

Thought I'd finally share my method for buried supplies: Pick any 'side': North for example. Wiggle around to line up the blinking chest icon with the "S" on your compass. Dig the top line of topsoil from the north edge to the south. Usually the perimeter will shrink at least once. Continue digging a trench to the rock layer within this line. Once the trench is complete, pop back out and note where the center of the shrunken perimeter is. You can usually dig straight down in the center of that (id say 9 out of 10 times) and find the supplies, I prefer usually to pop down into the trench again and dig into it from the side though for the little bit of extra clay and extra spawns on higher tiers. ~J~
The liquor store is a perfect early base since it's a concrete platform, you only need to add stairs. As for the Reber residence, if it's the one the floor caves in, I've died so many times in there doing early infestations.
25:25 there was such a thing they are called daiquiri shacks. in Louisiana they would scotch tape the top so its not an open container 😆
Same in Texas. Taped shut and no straw provided. Or you can get straws in a bag usually stapled close. 😂 making sure they know if it’s open YOU did it 😅

I like to use billboards for early base, you do you and have fun.
one thing i really like with 1.0 is mission levels are shared with all traders. No more going to a new trader and having to rush through low tiers again.

Awesome start. Makes me look forward to playing when it goes stable. With as buggy as the game is I'm not trying experimental, I don't care what anyone says. I say this as someone who has 5k hours in the game.
I know that there was a drive-through beer & wine store in my hometown when I was a kid. That town was weird as it was _mostly_ dry, being in the Bible Belt. There were just these small areas where all the alcohol was sold.

We used to have a drive through liquor store/convenience store franchise in Tampa called Beverage Castle. Some of the locations looked like little castles, or well, they tried to make them look like that anyway 😅

First encountered drive through liquor stores in Maryland back in the late 70's.
I live in Pennsylvania and we have many drive through liquor stores but it's more just a beer distributor and not hard alcohol.

The mega base would be cool if the horde base was in one biome and ur crafting base was in another like wasteland/forest so ur gamestage goes up in the wasteland but stays easy for the day to day things and u don’t get hot and stuff from the wasteland. Make sure u sink ur base footings for less collapses. Good luck hope this series is a banger

We have drive thru liquor stores here in Pennsylvania. They have a section where you drive right into the building and tell them what you want, they go get it and put it in the car for you
Which isn't too smart, both ends of the building are wide open and they have tons of beer cases just stacked floor to ceiling haha someone could just walk right in or just reach around the corner, grab a case of beer and leave haha

Drive Thru liquor stores do exist. In Texas they look like barns. In the old days you could get a "to-go" drink as well. I don't think they do that anymore.
