Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- The Monumental Loop in southern New Mexico is a beautiful 250 mile bikepacking route in the Las Cruces region. I joined the 'Danger Bird' summit along with about 150 other riders in late October 2021. If you'd like more info on this ride, check out this article, bikepacking.co...

Hello friends! This is a long edit of my previous series about this route. As always, I took out the music and made it all about the natural sounds. Hope you enjoy it!
Thank you Ryan 🙏
Muy bien Muy bien! Muchos gracias
Olay Olay Olay Olay Olay keep cranking brother you the man ✌️
Love it! Thanks for your work!!!
Thank you, Ryan. I always appreciate videos without music. People have such varied tastes in music that I end up turning down the sound on most UA-cam videos to avoid the irritation! :-)
Duzer is for sure top 1% most grateful humans on Earth.
I’ll take that title proudly :)
"I do my best thinking on the seat of a bike." Truer words were never spoken. These long form videos are always so appreciated. Thank you, Ryan! Now to find some time to get lost in thought for a stretch on the seat of my bike.
Thanks! I’m glad that you enjoy the long edits. I hope you get out for some bike adventures soon
It's POURING rain and nothing like Duzer to make my AM brighter 🌞
Glad I could help entertain :)
@@duzer it got me out on my bike. Cheers 🥂
Yippee…Sunday morning Duzer. Great ride, beautiful scenery. Thank you for taking us along. ❤️
Thanks for joining the fun!
Loving the raw sounds Ryan. Gravel sound is music to my ears.
I agree! Love it
The silence! I couldn’t agree more, done a few night hikes and that’s the one thing I always loved, absolute peace and quiet except for the sound of your footsteps.
I love the silence
Another absolute banger Ryan. I'm commenting, liking, and watching the full video on everything on your channel in hopes it helps your channel grow to one million subs. Never found a more deserving channel. Now I need to convince you to drag me along for a tour in Canada!
Here to enjoy the video during breakfast!!! Thank you for great content Ryan!! 💗🌸🎉
Thanks for watching!!
Amazing !
Omg how did I miss this well about to sit back and enjoy some bike life for about an hour !!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Thank you so much AARON!!
@@duzer not sure where the ‘Thanks’ came from, but it feels a little underwhelming as the vid was awesome! Love your enthusiasm and the effort you go to to create the content with ride-bys, drone shots and the detail shots with the flora and food is great. You tell a great story - so ‘thanks’ haha
I loved riding in this area, met some really cool people in Doña Ana. 👍🏼
It’s so beautiful!
Ryan that was a great trip you are truly inspiring.
Thanks!! The desert inspires me
Beautiful.
Now this is something I would like to do. I want to try bike packing but am too nervous to go alone.
You can do it!
im a bicycle enthusiast but youre on a whole other level Ryan ...this was epic!
Thanks! I love riding in the desert, it’s my happy place
Thank you Ryan for sharing your adventures and positive energy! Very inspirational!
Thanks always Ryan for taking us along on your travels 😊😊
You got it!
I absolutely love that area and I have day dreamed about riding around it. Thanks for giving me the experience! Love your videos Ryan.
Thanks!! Glad you enjoyed this
Duzer, you nailed another one! Great footage, production and editing. Really enjoyed this version. Epic!
Thanks!! I appreciate that. Loved making this one
(Min 5:28)In Baja California we call those round spines “Cachanillas”, greetings Ryan from San Diego CA 👍🏼🌲🚴💨🐾🐾🐾
Love that word!
Thanks again Rayan.💯✌🚴🏼♂️
those drone shots of all those bikes on this route was dreamlike!
I loved capturing that moment!
Oh boy, this is one for my bucket list for sure! Thanks for sharing Ryan!! 🧡💚❤🙏🏻
It’s a good one to have on the list!
I had no idea that a burrito/tortilla and beans could take one so far. I'm impressed and thinking about finding an I heart burritos sticker for my car, I mean, bike. Don't malign the famous ditch, tent, setup, spot. I love a good ditch. I'm glad you got to the gummy bears before the lizards. Fun trip. No wonder you're not married. You love your bike/life! I understand, finding a partner who understands your ride-a-bouts would be challenging. We need to have a "get Ryan married" event. That grasshopper looked like Ron Jeremy.
Ron Jeremy 😂😂 thank you for this entertaining comment
I don't know how you manage to ride 115km a day AND take this amazing footage. But it's great. Thank you!
It’s a lot of work, but I enjoy it…for the most part :)
I love this video. I miss New Mexico 🥰🏜️
It’s such a special place
Some beautiful country out there. Looking at green PA woods get old after awhile.
Good times... Love when you and the boys were chowin down on those big juicy burritos at the taco place...Life doesn't get any better 🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️
I can still taste ‘em!! So good
Ryan, on the first night, that family was so sweet. You are lucky for sure! Wonder where the other bikers slept?
Sand is tricky. I've been trying to avoid it ever since I got into a 10-mile soft sandy road here in Florida in 100°F weather and ran out of water. Never been that thirsty again. Thank you for a great content, enjoyed watching 👍
Sand can be SOUL SUCKING! But luckily it doesn't *usually* last very long
I think I would ride the fatbike on this one. Great to see you back out there again.
Your adventures are the best !
Thanks! I appreciate that
Nice one Ryan!... olé, olé, olé !!! makes you want to go riding around USA.
Hope you make it here someday!
@@duzer Thanks brother! will do, I hope you make it around Europe
They're is nothing like riding during sunrise. That moment when the sun finally pops. You feel invincible
I agree!! It’s magical
I love love love you videos, Ryan! Thanks so much for taking us along for the ride! Best wishes!
Thanks so much!
Wow. Some amazing footage. I wish I had something like that near me. I would love to be able to do that. You are a lucky man. Thanks for sharing this with us
It’s a beautiful area!! I love the desert southwest
'this is tricky riding' he says... As he rides one handed while holding a camera and filming with the other... Like a boss!
It’s a skill that has taken many years to perfect 😂
Beautiful ride. I love New Mexico. If I were young I would love to ride the Rio Costilla road that loops to Cimmaron then to Angel FIre, and on to Mora, then back around to Taos on the Enchanted Circle. Such beautiful country. I have ridden it in my truck pulling an RV and it is incredible. I am not sure if bike tires can handle a portion of the road though that will eat 10 ply tires. There is a great camping spot at the top. Love your videos Ryan.
Hey I was lucky enough to live in New Mexico and be part of aThe White Sands Cycling Club in Alamogordo for a few years. I even started a stage ride for citizens and USCF. I cycled the same routes as you did, Mesillia Valley was a favorite. It was a stage coach stop and the pony express. No pushing through snow drifts but lots of mud. You're an inspiration dude, you're also out of your mind.
lève mon chapeau
Really enjoyed this!
Thanks for watching it!
Beautiful ride, I broke my wrist yesterday a
on a ride through eastern British Columbia. So I guess I will watch your videos and pretend I am riding with you for a few weeks. thanks for all the uplifting videos
Oh no!!!! i'm so sorry to hear this, I hope you heal up soon.
Love this channel Ryan. I'm inspired to do a tour on a vintage bike with vintage packs. Must be on trails or roads. Need to find some good routes.
Oh that’ll be awesome! Hope you find a god route!
Always the same with Ryan's videos. Like first, then watch. The latter is always worth it. Starting to wonder whether something like Lovecycles 2.0 is in the cards.
Thanks for the support!! I wish Amelia could do long trips, but she has a real job 😂
Greetings from ABQ (lived in cruces for several years) One of these days I’ll intersect with you doooooozzzzer! You’re an inspiration!
I hope so!!! Thanks for watching
Ryan, I couldn’t stop watching. Thank you for the inspiration. Xox
I’m so glad that you enjoyed this!! Thanks for watching
@@duzer you’re amazing. Perhaps I’ll meet you on the trail someday. 🥰
LoL 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Kids are the best! Where are your Pajamas? LoL. Safe Travels. Thanks For Sharing This Video Amigo 😄
These kids were cuties
Thanks for documenting your journery! I’m planning to complete this loop and was looking for some insight from previous riders and alas one of my favorite bikepacker and youtubers, Ryan, has a video of the route!
It's such a great route, you are gonna LOVE it!
Thank you for this re-edit! Loved both versions
Thanks!! I like how this longer one turned out. Appreciate you watching both
That gummy! Lol! 12 hr rule. Love it!
Tasted even better after a few hours in the sun :)
Inspired by you Ryan, I just made my first bean burrito. I'm 50 in August! You know what, it wasn't bad...🤣😘
Nice!!! Welcome to the bean burrito club 😂
Finding a gummy bear on the ground and eating it is BRAVE
😂😂 it was the boost I needed :)
It's not what one says, but what one does. These were the words that my father and mother communicated to me by their examples. I know that you love people and Amelia because the camera and the ride was not so much about you, but the focus was on them, especially Amelia. I hope to meet you in person someday. Safe travels!
I do indeed love meeting people and sharing their stories. Thanks for your kind comment
Love your videos and content. I watch all your stuff. I’m from NM and I’m always stoked when you ride here. That being said I just have one thing to tell you. It’s just green chile, not green chiles. Chile is used singular or plural in New Mexico. It’s always just chile not chiles. But live the content and enthusiasm. Keep it up!! No crashies, no whammies, no flatties!!!
Oh thanks!! Good to know. Happy trails
I live in Mesa AZ and have ridden some of this. I wanted to do the eastern but never went farther than in view of Apache Lake. I rode north and west on the Arizona Challenge ride. 325 miles in 24 hours in the mid 1980's several times. Route was ASU north thru Sunflower past Payson and Pine on west in a 325 mile circle. A way to enjoy my commuting more.
Very cool that you’ve done some of this, it’s beautiful out there
I’m watching this two weeks later. We went on hiking trips to Bavarian Forest. Great video Ryan. Unfortunately I’m stuck home with covid right now. But your video makes me feel better again and I wish to “Get out there “ 😉 Hopefully it will happen soon. All the best, J.🙂🇨🇿
Today was new bike day for me
Congrats!!! SO EXCITING
@@duzer this time it was a 7 speed cruiser really starting to like them
much better without music. Tire rolling on gravel is very soothing to hear.
I love that sound as well!
you have some of the best cycle films on youtube 🤗
Awww thanks!!
Always enjoy your videos! Have you heard from John & Mira?? They have not posted any videos, since you were riding with, down in Mexico. ✌️
John has been working up in Canada, he’ll be continuing his ride soon down in Mexico
Seems like a ton of fun.
It was!
On my third video on the indoor trainer. Be well. Thumbs up. 3 degrees F outside and sunny
Thanks!
Oh wow!! Thank you so much John!!! I really appreciate your generosity!!
GREAT. GREAT VIDEO MY FRIEND. !!
Thank you!
Great video as always! Interesting to see a fair number of people using semi-curved handlebars. I'd be interested to try them
I have always rewatched your adventures over and over again because I like them all! Ryan I have come across a channel that is awe inspiring. Scotland MTB and cross country adventures a father films thier adventure together MTB Scotland. Their trips are 2 or 3 days long and the young man and his father started this when he was very young. The first one I saw was when he was 9 he is nearing 10 or 11 now and he also runs in crosscountry running races. Give them a look maybe one day when you plan another adventure you may be in his area. He is literally a mini you no kidding! Love this again and again good stuff!!
Oh cool!! I’ll check it out
Ryan I think you have taken more canned and half digested beans to more beautiful places by bike than anyone in human history.
You could do the quebec bikepacking traverse! 3000 km in canadian forest
Ooooh!! Sounds awesome
Great! Enjoyed it. Love hearing your Spanish. Pretty darn good hermano! Wish mine was! Take care!
Gracias!!
De nada señor
yeeeh boi
To find inspiration and refuge in one's past present and future must be the most wonderful gift you give yourself 🙂
With gratitude thankyou for the snippets of your life.🏆
Piece 🌍 love 🌈 and beans for All 🤠

Thanks Paul!! Love your comments
I hope you stopped by the Hachita Food Mart and talked to the store owner. 😊❤
I will next time
Scooby Duzer jammies.

You rock Brother. Very inspirational. ZEN

Gracias a ti!
Hi Ryan. Hope you are feeling better from Covid.
I’m back to 100%, thanks!!
1) liked
2) watched and enjoy, enjoy and enjoy
Thanks!!
“This…is…” *grunt* “fun!” - Duzer
He he :)
No notification ding for me today, but only a few minutes late to the upload
Thanks for always watching my videos!!! YOU ROCK
Two questions
1. Are they having this ride for 2022?
2. How well do you like / dislike your Goodyear tires?
Yep! Follow their instagram for info instagram.com/monumental_loop?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=
And my tires are pretty solid
4:04 poor guy with those wide bars.
😂 so wide!!
A little off topic, but after watching The 3 Amigos ride through Mexico recently, I'm looking forward to you showing up again somewhere along J&M's World Tour, have you thought of making a return to Honduras?
I’ll try!! Would love to ride with them again
Great stuff. When you catch up with guys, like I’m sure you do because you’re a strong rider, are you just like, “ride with you guys for a bit?” or what’s the protocol on something like that? Really cool, scenic ride!
Pretty much, it’s a very welcoming atmosphere
Don't want those in your teeth - spit LMFAO I died, thanks Ryan!
I think they’re still stuck in my teeth 😂
What is your favorite part of the 600x? I’d say mine is the reversed fork shocks.
The pinion/gates drivetrain
I was an early adopter of the Wren fork on my fat bike YEARS ago when Kevin Wren first started. Completely transformed the bike. Awesome fork.
Gummy Bear moment made me lol
He he :)
great video. You really need to get a travel companion. Dog/Cat/Parrott or something like that. Enjoyed the video
How bout an iguana??
@@duzer I don't know... they say that they taste like chicken 😁🤣... yes an Iguana would be badass but not as badass as a cat or dog
What sunglasses are you wearing? I'm looking for a new pair of shades for cycling but looking for a more casual alternative to the goggle/face-shield aesthetic a lot of them seem to have.
"Who's that weirdo?" 🤣🤣🤣
It’s me!! :)
@@duzer Love your videos, and amazing footage as usual. An ardent follower. But what's with you and grasshoppers? :-)
Great video!! So, was that a medicinal gummy bear?? I love the medicinal gummy bears!! They're great for MS symptoms!!🌎🚴
It wasn’t…but that woulda been fun
Also, how did you get from El Paso airport to Las Cruces? And did you build your bike in the airport or transport it to a bike shop…? Then when you finished, how did you reverse the process. Is there a bike shop you rec?
What water purifier do you use (recommended?) and why UV and not a filtering system to further clean fro particles?
Steripen ultra light, it’s super easy to use.
Dude, in some parts of that trail you should of wore chaps to protect your legs ! ☝😄
Live and learn :)
How many litres do you have in handlebarbag?
nice trip and adventures, quick question what is your air sleeping pad? it seem longlife. I bought one buat easy to leak. Sugggestion? thx you
On that trip it was a Klymit pad, now I use a Neo Air…they’re not very durable
@@duzer thx you, hope someday you make Indonesia trip 😀💪🏻
👏👏👏
Hey Ryan...do you ride with clipless pedals on these trips?
I use flat pedals on techy stuff, clipless on everything else
Eats gummi bear from ground....20mg THC enjoy the ride.
Haha!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee everything is so sparkly now :)
Size tires?
