Ryan, I just want to let you know that yesterday, for the first time, our family, Dad (me), Mom, Daughter and even the dog! went on a bicycle adventure together. It's been a long time coming, slowly making sure everyone (other than the dog) had a bicycle and then getting the rack to carry them on the car. It was a big adventure! The dog and I got overtired. Wife and Daughter had falls. Still, it was the coolest thing we have done in a very long time. All of this was in no small part due to your inspiration. Because of you, we "got out there!" and we will do it again, hopefully many times. Thank-you.
Let’s go camping 🏕️ 😂😂❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
This is not a re-run :) As with all my long edits, I take out all the music and leave only the natural sounds. I hope that viewers feel immersed in the experience (without the sore ass).
These long videos consist of the best and most beautiful shots. I also take out a lot of the dialogue and leave in only the most crucial sound bites. Hope you enjoy this!
I🙋 really like it more WITHOUT music. America is beautiful
Is there a link to the route you took? Strava? Garmin connect?
It’s beautiful! Which month did you ride this tour?
This was amazing both ways. Thank you for sharing this with us.
As commented above, this really is an awesome vid, Ryan. Super enjoyable. Thank you!
I like the peacefulness of the long edits, every time I watch one it feels calming.
Glad to hear this! I love putting these long ones together
I've been biking since the age of 10 years old. I'm 34 now. I wouldn't really consider myself doing much mountain biking, but I love biking around my neighborhood as well as biking in bike trails that have both smooth pavements and rough terrains. I've recently discovered Ryan and his videos and I want to do what he's doing someday before I die. I've also upgraded from a Walmart Hyper mountain bike to now a Trek Marlin 5! There's a huge difference between the Trek and Hyper. If you really want a long-lasting and smooth experience with a mountain bike - I would always go for the more expensive one. Plus actual bike shops have techs who can fit you on a bike and maintain it correctly.
Treks are excellent bikes.
Wow. San Diego to San Bernardino - I thought I knew this area, but this a whole new side for me.
It was a really cool route to make the loop
Lot's of people don't understand San Diego county has a ton of great mountain routes and awesome desert tracks...not just a beach town! Thanks for the visit!
So true!! I love that entire area
I wish I could live there, housing is ridiculous...do they have tiny houses for sell???
Thank you Ryan for bringing me here, this was absolutely great to watch all the way through. What an awesome video to show what a solid and versatile bike the Priority 600X really is. You're definitely inspiring me to add some things to my bucket list of things to do, and bike packing is definitely going to be on the list. I'm a caregiver for my wife and good friend who both have Alzheimers, my friend is 94. and my wife of 40 years is 76 (ten years older than me). My wife and I have loved writing and singing songs over the years and I hope to take her on a trip across America to promote our new songs and find us a new place to live, but it''s all on hold until we say goodbye to our longtime friend. I can see myself doing some of what you've done here with such class and humor and joy, yes! it's what life is all about. Some of those mountain roads coming down from Big Bear into San Bernardino are the same fire roads we took in our new 2022 Tundra just a few weeks after buying it in January of 2022. The 600X does great in all conditions, I'm really thinking about buying of these now after watching this. Sorry this is so long, but to be honest with you, this was the longest running video I've ever watched on YT and I've been on it since it started. I look forward to watching more of your ventures now and would it be OK to give you a nice big virtual hug from both of us and say WE LOVE YOU Ryan Van Duzer!
That overhead drone shot after leaving slab city....unreal landscape.
I really like it that there is no music - its peaceful AND I am a bassist so I can practice while watching episodes :) Love this trip - My bike friend Monte and I will be doing this route in October 2023
Right on!! You’re gonna love this route
You know I love your selection of music for all the videos that you've done.
But I have to say, I really like this compilation video of the desert ramble with the video sounds and your intermittent narration... without a doubt.
As others have mentioned, I can turn on this video, and work better while listening. Thanks Ryan ❤
Thanks, Lane. I really enjoyed putting this one together…it’s one of my faves
I can always watch your videos over and over. One day I'll be brave and go for it. But I love how much joy you bring to the camera lens, you are always so happy and grateful even when it's tough. Thank you ❤️ we need more good humans like you
aww, thank you! Gratitude is the core of my adventures
Same, some day. 🎉
Thanks Ryan for sharing this adventure in so many ways! I am personally getting over an ankle injury snowboarding and the Aftican series and now this got me worked up to get on my bike asap. I can say I did! Road 29.4 miles yesterday!🤘🏻❤️ THANKS!!!
I hope that you heal up soon and get back out there!!
Extended cuts are I imagine a lot of extra work but I really enjoy watching them.
They are, but I love putting them together.
A year ago I watched your Great Divide backpacking video. It inspired me to pickup my bike from when I was a kid and start doing stuff again. While I have not done any bike packing I completed my first triathalon the other day and I don't think I'd be on this path if it weren't for your video. Thanks for the inspiration Ryan.
That’s awesome!! I wish you all the best on your future races and adventures
Thanks for the memories and peace and quiet of the ride, great vids as always. Be well be safe. SJ
Thank you, this was one of my all time favorite adventures
This brings back fond memories of Mountain biking in So Cal. One of my favorite bike packing is out of Santa Barbara towards New Cayuma. Keep up the great videos.
I love this area so much
Those date shakes are the best!!! 😊
So good!
Ryan, you adventures are amazing. I tour, but not like you. Thank you for sharing your thoughts about adventures and about accepting what lies in front of you. The GEMS along the road always make the day; that includes places and people. Safe Trails
Well said! So many gems on a trip like this
you and your shadow fighting the wind van duzer, but also living the life.
We've gotten each other though a lot of tough times :)
I really feel ya riding through the sand. I'm north of 250 lbs so my 2.2 tire really dig in to loose sand and gravel. I wear knee pads when off pavement now. You crossed the mountain range and just the right time before the snows came then hit the desert while it was nice and warm. I wrote this before seeing your return trip to the coast. Incredible ride! Thanks for taking us along for the ride. You've inspired me to aim for longer day rides until I feel like I can do an overnighter after a full day ride. Nice camera drone work.
I’m torn between watching this in preparation of my upcoming trip on the SoCol desert rumble or waiting until I’ve done it. I’m 30 min into this epic video and I’m glad I’ve chosen to watch it. I’m super excited to be back in the US and to swap rainy England for some windy desert for a couple of weeks.
You are gonna LOVE this so much!!
Love your content. Love your personality. May u continue to do what you love forever!!
What an amazing adventure. Thanks for bringing it home to us Ryan.
Thank you for watching it!
Ryan , you’re an inspiration
Live from Setúbal, Portugal 🇵🇹
Thank you!!
That was easily one of the best videos I've ever watched on UA-cam. Thank you for the work you put into this video. It was spectacular! Just absolutely amazing!
Thanks!! This was one of my favorite adventures ever! Thanks for watching
Amazed how you pack all your camping stuff, food, electric razor, drone and hot sauce in your bike bags….looks like you were traveling light.
That’s pretty much all I bring :)
The Santa Anna wind 's blowing hot from the north and we were born to ride , quote from Randy Newman , we love L.A.
Always refreshing and inspirational your videos Ryan. Cycling and filming sounds like a double work and that takes a lot of energy, but you make it look fun and adventurous. Cheers from Oregon.
I appreciate that! It’s indeed a lot of work, but I love it
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your generosity!!
I'm off the bike with saddle sores presently, living vicariously through RVD videos 😎
Oh no!! Hope you heal up soon
я так рад, что нашёл ваш канал и что вы продолжаете снимать. после той серии на 2 часа the Baja Divide. просто как будто я катаюсь со своим старым другом🤝
I never get tired of your videos evertime I watch I always learn something new
I tried to do this trip in February but there was too many weather related obstacles to get it done. Maybe next year! Thanks for sharing your love of cycling with us to keep me motivated.
I heard about all that weather, crazy! Hope you get to do it sometime
Wow! This is lovely, Ryan! So peaceful.
Thanks, peaceful was the goal when creating this :)
1:10:31 favourite bit ever. Bike love at it's best. Cracked me up.
Thanks!
It looks like you were on another planet. Very beautiful.
It’s so beautiful out there
Long form, love it. So relaxing to watch.
Awesome adventure and video, Ryan! Thx for all your hard work and sharing such wonderful content with your subscribers, Ryan!
Thank you so much for your generosity, Gary!! I really appreciate it!!!
@@duzer You are VERY welcome, Ryan! 🤜🤛
Living through you, bro.
This is so awesome! You are an absolute BEAST! This was a very tough route. You rode through my stomping grounds( Chula Vista) and managed to find ALOT of the local epic trails. The route you took through east county to Alpine was also epic. So inspiring. Thanks for the great footage😍
Thanks, Larry! I loved this route in every way, such a stunning part of the world
Haha OB, I used to body surf there, the break is good south of the rock jetty. Thanks for another video of my old stomping grounds. I've backpacked and biked over most of the Cuyamaca and Laguna mountains, down into Anza Borrego. Missed my desert during this past Colorado winter. 🙂
It’s such a beautiful area, and OB is rad
This was so relaxing to watch. I loved the natural sounds (without the music).
Thanks, glad to hear it!! I like this style too
@@duzer I really love your choice of music too though. It's just so nice to hear the natural sounds, I guess because that's what I enjoy when I'm out riding.
Absolutely spectacular. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Love the natural sound format!
That steep fireroad called ORIFLAME you decended on Day 2 is no joke. I have been on that road twice before but I had to go up it during an endurance race. Thanks for the memory refresher. Peace
nice video Ryan, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for checking it out!
Great video love the in depth looks. Bike life !!!!!!!!!
Wow, thanks. I can't wait to watch this. I have always wanted to live in San Diego.
Thank Ryan, I recently road the Strand in LA after an odd storm that covered parts of it in 6" deep beach sand. I sympathize with you on your trek!
Oh wow, sand can be brutal
I enjoy your videos bud. I travel for work and love to plan a trip to meet up and make a ride. Maybe Septemberish.
Thanks Ryan 👍👍👍!
Thank you for watching!
Santa Anna winds. Glad they have a name for those winds. Out here in Texas we just call them $&@:”(?, (expletive) winds, ha ha. Not finished watching but really liking this one! No music thing is really working! Take care brother!
Your videos are always so well made and put together :) And such an amazing scenery, hopefully one day I can go there as well :)
Thank you!! I hope that you make it there someday
Great stuff. Keep riding!😛🤪
Thank You for all you inspire, would live to see slap city someday.
Thanks good buddy!
Awesome as usual. Great job Ryan 👏👏
hey ryan funny how i was planning on doing a trip on my fat tire Ebike around southern cali and was looking for some good trails to look for and you came out with this video wow!!! You literally shown me and linked some really good info on how to start this adventure around southern cali!!!! Thanks a lot really, and what's your thoughts on e bike adventuring off-roading / cross-country
Im In san Bernardino CA Love our Mountains thats about it lol and dam them cookie cutter houses.. you went right next to Bear creek good place to camp.
Your mountains are incredible!!
Great travels!!!
Glad you like them!
Yo Ryan, I’m a Florida cyclist and love your video. I travel to SoCal often and I’d love an adventure like this. Wondering if you ever take others with you on a ride like this? Amazing.
Ryan do you think you will ever do a 600 mile 4 inch fat tire Ebike ride to motivate seniors with health problems to ride . fat tire Ebikes are the Nations largest growing segment of cycles . last year I had 29 heart attacks ,January I got a Ebike soo far I have 437 miles with a avg. Of 35 miles per ride . previous years I could do only 11 miles on a old Fuji and be exhausted for 3 days . watching your videos inspired my wife and me to ride !!!😊
I am possibly thinking of doing this route on my Fat tire E bike!! easily my e bike can do 50 miles avg a day with pedal assist with a max of level 2 assist. SO funny how ryan came out with this video as i was planning on doing trip around southern cali!!! This is a epic one
Mr Frijol ,,great videos,,
Gracias ;)
@@duzer why don't you have a group of beginners and teach them how to prepare for a short trip and also show them what kind of bike to use for the occasion,,and take them with you for a short trip,,I would love to take that kind of trip with someone already experienced,,maybe 10 or 15 people 100 or 150 dlls a head,,if you do it let me know I'll be included,,thank you,,keep making your great videos,,
THANK YOU for the inspiration to just be grateful for the time I get on the bike! Currently sitting at my desk, dreaming of the next adventure. Have you done the Oregon Outback bike packing route?
Great video! I'd soooo much like to ride this myself 😍
It’s such a beautiful route
Awesome trail buddy you inspired me to get back on my bike 👍
Hi Ryan, I've watched this twice along with your 7 part series in preparation to ride this route in November. Phenomenal btw. Can you tell me how much water you carried?
The Sky Hawk Footage Is Awesome and High Brother 👌😎✌️
The drone is a great tool
Tight pack! Have you done anything with an inventory of everything you carried? Would love to know!
Another great adventure. Thanks for sharing.
always good to think about getting off walking if your going walking speed anyway, and using loads of energy, think if you do more sandy trails, maybe get another bike design for you, a fat bike 27.5 fat bike :)
Indeed!!
I really liked this trip and especially not having music (funny as I am a musician) added to there whole "pure" vibe of the trip. I w]s thinking having fatter tires( 3" ) would facilitate a lot of the sandy desert sections and snow - does the Priority bike have ample spacing for that ?
Great ride - very inspiring!
Thanks! I love letting the sounds of nature tell the story. This bike doesn’t allow for super wide tires
Hey Ryan have you ever tried aero bars? Dropping down is a nice change of position and certainly more aero dynamic which should help in those epic head wind conditions.
I just wanted to let you know, watching this ride a second time is fine. When you have new, we'll watch that. Until then, we're patient. I want you to slow down. You're not 22 any more. I know you have a lot of stuff you want to do and we want you to do it, but build in more rest/recovery/chance to just look around time. You need the rest and you never know what sort of amazing gems you'll find out there. The hippie town was a big part of this trip but imagine if you didn't take the time to stop and look?
Nice one Ryan.. Could you please tell me about your camera equipment ??
you already uploaded this video about 2-3 months ago. I watched it again so it worked 😂
Same, but different. ;)
1:20:00 Van Duzer production?! Oh boyyyy
Get the popcorn ready!
You prefer hardtail mtbs over gravel bikes for bikepacking? Asking as someone who rides XC hardtails and was interested in getting into the bikepacking scene and wondering if I should get a gravel bike for it. Love your bike. It's got some interesting geo on it with the longer chain stays and shorter reach with the relatively steep angles on the seat and head tubes. Thanks for the awesome vid.
I do...I feel much more comfortable on a harttail. I like MTB geometry
That must have been the Colorado River you rode your bike through, I heard its getting pretty low!!!
Ryan, I really love this format with the natural sounds, it inspires so much more to get out again. The reminder of past trips is strong! Thanks from 🦘🐨
Thanks, Anthony! Glad you like this style…this route was so beautiful
Aren't there any Mt.Lions that you have to worry about in any of those areas you traveled!?! Do you carry any spray?
Nick video from Bangladesh
Hello Bangladesh!!
nice, what shorts are you wearing, which are comfortable for long distance bikepacking without chafing
Best way to fight wind is to avoid it. Tail winds or bust!
So true!
Hello Ryan - not a comment, but a question regarding fitment of the 600X and the Apollo. I have heard the 600X tends to run on the large size. Not sure about the Apollo. My normal size is usually large (33 inseam but shorter torso) what has your experience been for sizing? I enjoyed this video - We moved up to the PNW a few years ago from the San Diego Backcountry. I find the the desert
areas to be beautiful and miss riding them.
The Apollo runs a bit more true to size, it has typical road bike measurements in cm. Reach out to priority if you have more questions about fit, they’ll set you straight. I usually ride a large mtb, but I ride a medium 600x. My inseam is 31.5
@@duzer Thank you for your reply Ryan - much appreciated
I will be in Boulder, Colorado for awhile. If and when you return to the Boulder area I would love to chat with you
Would covering the drivetrain to protect from the sand etc. as in a hub geared city bike be practical on that kind of bike?
I road my bike on the beach in Santa Barbara and in Sarasota Florida.
Sounds fun!
@@duzer I'm sure you have lots of fun.
Greetings from argentina !!!
Hello Argentina!!
Still watching from morocco
Thank you!!
you re amazing !!!!!!
Thank you!
Lol… Los Angeles and you’re in San Bernardino. Nowhere near LA, not anyway. I wonder if that R you saw was for Riverside or UCR.
The R was definitely for RYAN!! 😂😂😂
@@duzer Lol..agreed.
Is your bike belt drive?
I thought 🤔 I was the only cyclist that talked to my Shadow? My cousin and I call the winds! Windy 😁 She always makes our ride Tuff.
Ryan I want to know how many hours you have Paddled from starting point to end point of the distance
Could you tell me what make and size tire you ran on this trip? Looks like it could be a good tire.
So what camping kit do you use?? Tent, bivy? mattress? etc.
Tent and mattress
Only stupid question is the one not asked… so after quite allot of scrolling thru comments in multiple videos, vid descriptions etc etc(even good ol google) what is your pannier rack system?????
It’s made by Aeroe Rack!
@@duzer the Aeroe Spider! Thank you sir! It’s just such a clean, narrow STABLE looking set up, reminded me allot of your ol’ Trek from years back. Thank you!
can you tell me whammy’s are? I get flatty’s and crashy’s but feel dumb for not getting whammy’s.
Anything real bad and unexpected
I think Priority should put your picture on the Costco ad and something like, "Endorsed by Ryan Van Duzer!" Duzer fans and Costco fans have a lot of crossover.
