    Thank you for your videos. I lost my dad last November. He taught me so much about fresh water bass fishing. Losing him really was a punch to the gut for me. I live in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and started watching your videos. Very simple and informative. I’ll be purchasing some of your products simply because I’m impressed by your relationship and respect for your father. Keep the videos coming!

    I have been fishing for more than 30 years, your videos are so good and the knowledge that you pass on to the community is awesome. Total respect and keep up the great work. Your chum rig is a killer over here in the UK for some epic cod action.

    It just takes practice folks, it took me about 3 years to totally master it. Arthritis doesn't help, but you have to learn your own techniques, but you've got to start somewhere. Go buy some cheap line and practice, that's what I did. This isn't rocket science folks, anyway tight lines and God bless 🙌.

    I love fishing. I started 2 years ago (just before covid) mostly at the beach at the end of my street and really enjoyed it. From there I started to fish off the rocks at either end of the beach. Loved that too. This last Christmas, I bought myself a kayak, made outriggers, puta trolling motor on it and now I'm fishing the local estuaries as well. Thanks Brandon, your videos have been very helpful and inspirational. Hope you and Erin are both well and your mom and dad. If my dad was still alive, I'd love to take him fishing. Cheers guys

    Replacement arrived!By the way, I did forget to mention that the original lure did have a decent strike however as most anglers will attest you can get a hit ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxCbNOWAGmn6nfbCbJDmasvBq7J38KZNw2 and fish will hang on and release lure. I used the replacement lure yesterday and ran thru a Shimano Waxwing, Kastmaster, Bobber (set to sink). I found the does run deep (I casting on the flats 3.5'). Make sure you adjust your rate of retrieve and rod tip angle (up) to prevent getting snagged on bottom. Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

    I'm about to tie up all your fishing rigs this week in preparation for my vacation at Ocean City and frontiertown... Up here in Central PA was harsh during winter and your videos were just not videos to me... they were much needed psychological pick me ups as well... Your videos are like taking in a college course on a new adventure I just started the past 3 years that I'm pretty much hooked on for life... Im glad I started off watching your videos from the beginning of my interest of surf fishing... Hopefully I'll end up back to my home State of NC to enjoy my new adventure... Anyhow, thank you and, I thank your Dad as well for all I've learned so far...

    The hook direction makes a huge difference on circle hooks
    Always go in the front/point side first so circle hook is penetrating in proper direction !

    Thank you. I used the T knot yesterday on 30lb floro leader to 40lb braid and landed 3 white sea bass. I wasn't prepared for sea bass because I thought we were going rock fishing, but the charter had different plans given the weather. I don't think I would have been able to landed them without this video. Thank you.

    Another variation is to roll the 2 sides of your loop to twist the line before tieing the dropper loop. It stiffens the knot and makes it stand off at 90° to the main rig line.

    Hello, thank you, I was looking forward to this video. Because I realize this knot badly and here are different ways to do it the loop knot dropper. During the holiday season, I kept watching your videos, especially the old ones that I hadn't seen. You are truly the best for me. I watch other channels and you exceed them for me on a whole bunch of things. Why not in a next video fishing with bacon at sea it could be an experience at sea to do maybe if you want to try. So happy new year and good health to you and your entourage.

    Haha going to back to educational rigging I see...I know it's due to bad weather lol! 😅 it's cool brotha...it's refreshing teaching the basics. Hands down the hi/lo rig is to me the deadliest most versatile rig to catch for any scenario using bait. Less likely of snags if you keep it in one place even close to structure...I actually prefer this more than a Carolina rig. It to me is the more versatile rig of all time. Let's say you get squid tentacles and hook them and make them look like swimming minnows...it does damage even with big fish when you jig it slightly. And now when the water is super cold...nice slow retrieves and minimal play.

    Just wanna add on that an alpine knot will reduce your line strength by 50%. So if your line is rated for 10lbs, it will break off after 5lbs.
    Different knots have different strength reductions. Hence some knots are favoured over another.

      Fellow NC fisherman here. Where abouts do you go fishing? I like to fish Topsail island myself.

    • @DCnich
      @DCnich Рік тому

      @@matthewl1187 I like to fish Topsail as well. Usually the surf has some variety in it all year long. The sound side down by the inlet is a spot there, too. When I have time to make the trip, I like to camp out at Frisco and try the surf and the sound side. I’ve had good luck with reds down there. Landed a 43” bull red right out of the surf on ocracoke at the Hatteras ferry dock in June this year.

    • @matthewl1187
      @matthewl1187 Рік тому

      @@DCnich Nice. I've fished Topsail all my life and have yet to catch a red. I usually am getting blues which I enjoy catching. Serenity point is the spot on the sound side at Topsail you are referring to I believe. We fished there a week ago and got a couple of really nice flounders and some decent blues. Going back Thanksgiving weekend I hope and gonna drive out on the ocean side and try it. We are going to the Outer Banks in March which will be my first time. What kind of rigs do you use for reds? That's my target fish now since I've never gotten one. I want to try and get my 9 year old son to land one as well.

    • @DCnich
      @DCnich Рік тому

      @@matthewl1187 That sounds a lot like my experience the last few years at topsail. Lots of blues, which are fun, but no reds. I’ve caught some nice flounder there, too. When I have caught reds down near frisco, is has always been on a Carolina rig with fresh cut mullet. I’ve had better luck on the sound side with reds than the surf. I’m not sure how they will be feeding this time of year, but definitely earlier in the year the slot reds come out at dusk on the sound side and pursue mullet up into the shallows. I’ve had luck right as the sun is setting in the last hour of daylight. Lots of folks fish them at night. You can see the reds when they come out because the mullet they’re chasing will spray up towards the shallows as they’re being pursued. If you’re in the right spot at the right time, probably a lot of baits/rigs will work. The big bull I landed at Hatteras inlet was also a Carolina rig with cut mullet. Only difference was the location and hook size.

      She'll never get pregnant if you keep sticking it in the wrong hole.

    My understanding of the saliva is that it not only lubricates the knot, it also helps to cool the nylon as it generates heat from friction when it is sliding over itself, thus preventing a weak spot.
