I used this rig in Florida but with an egg sinker years ago and caught several fish, it worked great but his idea of using an inline sinker I think is a better idea and one I look forward to using next time.
I want to commend you for letting that young man fish and teaching him your method. So many young men have grown up without fathers and as a result they are lost...........thank you for your kindness.

Great job. When I lived on Charlotte Harbor in the 80’s we used this method almost exclusively and caught so many different species that it became a contest to se who could catch the most on a single trip. Our best was like 20 plus in a morning outing. Use can use live or cut bait , a jig or spoon and pop it along, or double jig and wade the back bays. Simple to use and cheap enough to keep us from going broke

Wowwww that is truly remarkable! Seriously! Because the bobber stopper keeps the bobber in place whereby not allowing the sinker to touch bottom and the bait will be floating freely how smart is that I must admit I’ve learned something very fish important 😀 today 👍👍👍

Something I've learned fishing over the years. If there is a size limit you don't want your fish to be right on the line. I've seen fish shrink 1/8 to 3/16 when they get stressed. Especially if you are keeping them in a livewell.

Hey! I've fishing the same way here in Italy for 15 years now: sliding float from a pier with rocks. Let me give you an advice: you definitely need a longer an dedicated rod for bobber fishing, at least 5 meters long. You also need a landing net the same length. The rig you use is very good, but some small adjusts would make it even better. If like to, i'll make a video in which I show my rig and my way of fishing. Keep in touch.

Here in the Pacific NW we've been using slip floats in the rivers and on the jetties since I was a little kid and I'm in my late 50's now. I'm always surprised when I find out someone doesn't know about this style of fishing. Great video. One thing, on the jetties out here we like to use a double hook dropper under the bobber's weight. It's always fun and challenging when you get a double on the same rig.

Nice! I will use this tomorrow. We are ALWAYS getting snagged on the rocks at the jetty I fish! I have used Richard Gene’s method of using fishing line as a bobber stop and it is better for casting through your guides. You just use a Surgeon’s knot with double your line weight and clip it close! It slides up and down easily and you don’t have to spend money on bobber stops!!

What is the size of the barber you’re using and what is the size of in-line sinker you’re using

Hi mate, interesting video there on setting up a floating rig with a sinker below the float. So the weight from the sinker doesn't pull the float under?

If the float goes under use a lighter sinker.
