Adam Montgomery had an extensive and serious criminal history as well as a long history of drug abuse, and Harmony never should have been handed over to him no matter if he was sober at the time or not. Nearly every person in little Harmony's life failed her miserably.

The parallels with Christopher Gregor are scary. A child taken from a mother who is apparently unfit to parent and eventually placed with their unfit father whose anger at their mother it taken out on that child which then kills then. The high deception and coverup also extreme in both it seems. I’m pretty much sure both kids would still be alive if they had stayed with their unfit mothers.

It really is! I’m glad Jameson (sp) is with his adoptive family and I think Crystal is glad for that too. I’m sure she would rather her daughter be safe. It sounds like Breanna was living with family and may have had support but I’m not sure.

@@DrPatriceBerry his dads definitely seemed to love him loads. Their willingness to show emotional vulnerability I think is such a great attribute for a boy to be around growing up.

That is so infuriating, and I feel like it happens a lot. Takoda Collins is another example of a child who was taken from one parent and given to a parent who went on to kill the child. Also, I can’t remember the name, but a policeman in New York got his son from his Polish immigrant ex, who tried to fight for custody, if I recall. That child was ultimately frozen to death as part of the abuse at the hands of his father.

Adam M was trying to withdraw not wanting to be mentally present. Sitting back in the chair being distance. He has no incentive to say where Harmony is. It is the last bit of control he has over everyone.

The courts can see someone's aggressive history and still let them have custody. It's insane! I have family who is dealing with it currently, and the "dad" wanted custody to avoid child support, starved his toddler to the point where she lost weight over a 5 month period. And he pointed and racketed a loaded gun at the mother, in front of his other children, and was still granted 50/50 custody. The mother was a victim of his abuse, and is no criminal history, no issues with drug or alcohol use. She's provided so much to the DCFS to show that her toddler gets weird injuries every time they're with the father. And they don't care... I don't understand it. Is it going to take her to become seriously injured or dead for them to listen?! Ugh!! I fear what the baby's father is capable of. Breaks my heart that parents can do such horrible things to their babies, and not care about and nurture them instead.

Just commenting on things which makes us 'feel'. I watch emotional videos like this, and my husband plays Dark Souls, (a tricky and hard game). I came in sniffling to the witnesses statements while my husband was emotional from dying in the game. We had a moment together talking about why we seek such emotional ways to spend our time.

Crystal Sorrey had NUMEROUS opportunities to make things right for Harmony.
Court dates are ALWAYS assigned and mailed out at LEAST 4-8 weeks in advance. For the conflict of 2 appearances in 2 different courts/states on the same day, she could have
•contacted the court clerk of either jurisdiction
    •contacted her attorney
    •contacted CPS
•contacted the presiding judge of either case
To ask for an adjournment/rescheduling of one of the cases.
Nope, all that leg work was too bothersome for her and she chose drugs Let’s not forget that. She. Chose. DRUGS.
And I say this as a recovering addict with 2 children; ages 29 and 17. I never lost custody, but ANY apologies I have to make are to ways I failed THEM, not shaming the other parent who was worse than me.
She should be up there APOLOGIZING to Harmony, not shaming that sleazebag Adam.
And the aunt/sister of Crystal Sorrey sounds like she is on drugs right now.
And don’t even get me started on Kayla Montgomery.
Every “victim” up there making statements except the foster family and adopted fathers are disgusting

23:12 He is doing everything he can to prove he is innocent of the murder of Harmony BECAUSE of what happens to child murders in prison. I think this is the only reason he is denying it so adamantly! There is even honor among murderers, as strange as that sounds.

Dr. Berry I am ashamed to say that I have some anger listening to Harmony’s mom making her statement. All I can think of is WHY? Why did u love drugs more than your children? If u knew he was so evil how could u not get your stuff together and take care of your children? WHY??? I am personally aware of the pull of addiction! Personally! I also lost my 42 yr old son to alcohol addiction. I still ask how you could have given your babies away! Dr Berry….am I wrong? I feel so ashamed to be blaming the victim as that is not my way normally. I am a 62 yr old woman who did without constantly to provide for my children with no regrets but how I feel about this worries me.

Wishing you the best on your journey! I’m sure she has a lot of guilt and I wish her the best on her journey, healing, and sobriety. She likely wishes the foster parents or son’s adoptive fathers were able to safely care for Harmony. She tried to fight in court and Harmony was given to him at a hearing that she was unable to attend due to court for her son on the same day (according to her statement).

@@DrPatriceBerry Yes.. she said that court for both children was on the same day at the same time. Can’t you change it? They continue cases everyday. I know she feels horrible and I don’t generally feel so harshly but I sure hope some of these parents are watching and realizing how their choices can be so dangerous for their children Dr. Berry! The trial about the Dad that killed his son on the treadmill is another where the mother was on drugs and in that case it was the Grandmother that brought that Murderer (in my opinion) into Corey’s life! So much pain!

If I remember correctly, the issue wasn't just about the lack of GAL, or the difference in rules between states. I think the bigger issue is the lack of uniform reporting system between states for criminal conduct and child welfare. The military has an internal tracking system because military members and their families move so much and they know people could fall between the cracks and not have a clear record of conduct, but the civilian side hasn't similarly coordinated to account for an increasingly transient population.

This is how I view Kayla. She reminds me of someone who had no guidance at an early age and was already not very smart. She meets Adam and was extremely easy for him to manipulate and control her. Add that to addiction on top of whatever broke in her brain to make her feel like she couldn’t survive without Adam. You can hear it in her words. Even now, she’s still thinking about him. The one in her mind, was the best she could ever get. Not at all saying she’s a victim but it’s obvious she’s not very smart and I hope one day, she grows up.

I don’t believe him at all, either, about the ridiculous claim that Harmony was smothering a baby-however, not only should they not be in charge of a baby, but small children need to be shown how to treat little babies from an early age. They won’t understand the importance of an infant’s airway, or how delicate little babies are. If she was not treating the baby properly or safely, hypothetically, that suggests neglect and maybe abuse on the part of the parents, too.
