    thanks for the response, I think the 300xc will be best bet, once I fight with jetting, but I wish they had spring forks! all the motorcycle mechanic I know are telling me stick with spring forks because I'm lazy and probably won't remember to constantly check air psi. thanks for the input, just don't want to buy wrong bike at 10grand

    Love my 450x, efi would be nice though.....maybe one day I'll upgrade.

      You need to upgrade to a 2021 450X! Rides amazingly well and fuel injection is amazing! Don't ride one until you are ready to commit, otherwise you'll end up purchasing one before it's been properly budgeted for...lol

    Honda needs a 250RX too. Woods are too tight here to wrestle a 450 through all day.

      Any 250 power sucks where we ride in Colorado. 7000 feet and up, however at sea level 250's can be fun!

    Hand Guards should be standard as a SAFETY feature so no rider gets 2 broken hands, Maybe adding one or two headlights probably a good idea.

    I didn't realise that the X model is still in production. All they need to do to the X model is fuel injection, different exhaust and a better tachometer

    I dont get it. Its like a motocross bike made for off road but without a headlight or spark arresters and its got the heavy double muffler crap. So its not a race bike its not really a trail bike what the hell is it? Why didnt they just put fuel injection on the crf450x?

      It is an off-road bike made more for the racer. Look at the success of the KTM XC line and the Yamaha X line. This bike fits into the same category.

      it allows you to chose what you want.. cheap spark arrestors are $80 and you can decide what kind of hand gaurds fit your racing best. This bike looks awesome I just want a 250 version lol

      motosporttouring look into the husaberg fe450/570. I've heard of them going 40000km with just a couple pistons and valve adjustments. The new Ktm/husky/beta bikes have proven to be very reliable. Even more so than a Honda crf250r

      BOPPE the usedto have a cr500r "E" model as well with lights and street title. And then the awesome crm250r and AR models. I really want one of those but hey never got to North America

      How True.... If Honda ressurected it's last cr250 and did some work on it. ie made it 300cc, wide ratio box, lighting coils etc, they would have a big seller on their hands (10 years have passed, near as damn it - lots of new technology could be include too). Look how keen the biking fraternity is on this one. OOOOOOHHHH!!! MR HONDA - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

      Mangleman they got pretty close with the CRM250AR but never imported it to North America. 6 speed street legal lights and some weird radial technology that made it last forever and make tons of torque down low.

    I just had a chance to ride one of these yesterday and MAN!! What a BEAST! I LOVED LOVED LOVED the WEIGHT, it was just right. However, it was waaaay too much power for me. I wonder if I could install a tamer ECU ?

    Why would they go with a smaller rear tire AND a larger rear sprocket for the desert version???? That is the opposite gearing effect you would want...

    I have a 2012 crf 450r for sale looking for $4200.I am in MD, the bike has aluminum skid plate, pro circuit full exhaust with expansion chamber header. pro circuit y hose for the rad, pro circuit suspension, pro circuit aluminum engine plugs, stealth super sprockets did X-Ring chain thin. oil and oil filter has been changed after every ride Faithfully. fuel injected starts right up has no mechanical issues at all. have all stock parts for it,never mapped, never raced, I will also order a brand new plastic kit to go with it. upgraded seat, gas tank cap,I've done a lot to it set up for 185 lbs rider.only selling because I want a trail bike

    Only reason why I like this more then the ktms and the Yamaha (yz450fx) is Bc the Honda has a kickstart and all the other enduro bikes do not

    If it's not done on a some kind of Circle Track these guys don't do it. Make a light weight 250 x bike,6 speeds ,larger oil capacity, wide ratio.

    Im glad they still make the 450x alongside this RX. I would've been very disappointed if this was the X's replacement. This is more like KTM's XCF model. But Honda will need to work with it a lot more to perfect it to where the XCF is.

    you only need to pull the clutch in to start the bike if its not in gear lol if its in neutral you can start it without pulling clutch lol

      They generally have a higher sidewall depending on the tire size you get. So with a taller sidewall your rim gets more distance from the ground, the tube is less likely to get pinched between the rim and the tire. ~Vinny

      That's kind of a personal preference really. Both bikes are sweet. If i was deciding between these two bikes, I would look for the bike that best suits my riding style, the creature comforts that come with each and what kind of maintenance would be involved for each bike? Both bikes are designed for the offroad enthusiast and we like that.

    Why did Honda only take this half way? Why is there no spark arrestor? Why are there no hand guards? Why are there no other guards besides the skid plate? Why is it only 1 tooth different in the gearing? Why does it weigh an extra 20 lbs!? Why didn't Honda take notes from KTM who has been making this class bike for a long time? I would never buy this.. I would just buy the R and modify it the way I wanted because this isn't close enough to an gncc bike to bother buying. I think this bike will fail miserably.

    so, Jay and Chase, looking at 2017 bikes, need a bike I can go rip with the guys but I can also go lug around trails with my wife on crf150f and the kids on crf80. Yamaha is gay and got rid of back up kick start which I want in case I'm 15 miles from truck and battery dies. so 2 top picks are Honda 450rx and KTM 300xc, both more than enough power, but maintenance wise and reliability and tractor, which one you think is better, honestly, I know yawl rode both

      Hey Brandon, Chase here. Thanks for reaching out! Here is my two cents. First off, both are awesome bikes and you can't go wrong with either one. I'm assuming you aren't doing much or any track riding. If you are, then i'd say the 450RX would be the better of the two. That bike is awesome for single track and the GNCC style of riding that Honda intended it for. Where the XC will really shine is going to be your slower, more technical trail riding. The two-stroke will lug much better. In fact, Eric, who is doing the 450RX bike build said that one of the only faults he has with the RX is how easily it cuts out (dies) early in the low RPMs. Also, the XC will have wiring for a head light if you want to put one on. And don't think that the XC won't do well at high speeds either. Justin, my boss did a full review on the TX300 (Husky) which is basically the same bike and he absolutely loves it! Both bikes have the best forks in the game (17 or newer) so you'll be happy with either one in that aspect. For maintenance, it's tough. You always want to go off your manual's recommendations, but when time comes to do a top end rebuild on either one, it will be cheaper and faster on the XC. Hope this helped!       great question. It is putting out some to run the fuel injection and to keep the battery charged, but we still are unsure how much juice is there.

      Thanks for the reply. I think it would be a mistake on Honda's part not to have an off-road oriented bike that produced enough surplus electrical power to run a headlight.

      As often as any other bike. Every manufacturer will be different for what they recommend so be sure to look at your service manual.

    I am current user of a CRF450X 2013 and I am looking to change it for the RX, but I do not see it better than my current motorcycle, it is more I see that I would lose the light system, the only thing that would gain are years and more HP in this new Enduro check
    What do you think about changing my X for this new RX?

      Well, if you're comfortable on your current X and don't feel like the RX would make you a better rider, then i'd say stick with what you have. I can say without a doubt that the suspension is awesome on this RX and you can add a light if you wanted to. Depending on the type of riding you do, the RX transitions into motocross and that type of riding better that an X would in my opinion. I'd try to find a dealer that has a demo and take it for a spin.

      Thank you very much for the answer, I tell you that I am from Argentina, and that RX Honda Argentina motorcycle does not bring it, it is only obtained by some private importer. Honda Argentina only imports the model R.
      In conclusion the RX is almost the same as the R, with small differences (Wheel 18 ", support foot, and a more smooth mapping)

      YX450FX?... No real changes since the motor was reversed in 2010. Still an old school heavyweight 450. Honda have looked at the lightweight KTM and eclipsed them with this nimble lightweight (for a 450) bike. Look at the engine sizes in comparison.

      Actually yeah the motor was resigned in 2014 on the 450F, the motor makes a killer amount of HP, plus nothing beats KYB SSS forks, the new YZs may be heavy but they don't feel heavy. They are super nimble. The weight actually helps for offroad too it keeps the bike settled in certain conditions. Honda couldn't even put a wide ratio tranny in the new CRF how dumb is that for an off-road bike?

      Bryce Owen as far as I'm concerned Honda screwed up by not putting a wide ratio transmission in it. I have a 2014 r and basically have this rx bike built on my own expense(without electric start). Even though I geared down to 51 on the rear I still cuss the transmission.

      They are going after the KTM 450xc. It also has a the same transmission as the SX. But I agree, a wide ration transmission would be better.

      I still don't understand why Honda has neglected to update the X model. They've been running fuel injection on the R models since 2009, so why not carry that over to the X?

    Gorgeous new bike and then Honda cheaps out and decides to put the old ass silver wheels instead of black and then the old ass stock seat design and color which doesn't match the flow of the new graphics or the color of the new plastics. Total fail. Guess we will have to wait for 2018. No stabilizer. Looks like Honda cheaped out once again. Love Honda but they are not going to get ahead following in the coat tails of the KTM/Husq, Yamaha and Beta.

    what a nonsense, trail riding and no spark arrestors and no headlamp? we have so many versions R, RE, RX, X what for?
    give me one race bike and one trail bike. Honda, get a grip.
