Hubby stated that when a business refuses you and your service dog they can/will be reported to the ADA the business would have a big fine to pay and could be closed down. It was a family owned restaurant we did not go back till the sister took over as manger she call to say that she did not agree with the way her brother acted and treated him. Some of my biggest access issues were while traveling through Montana with my service dog. It seems that Montana has a lot of undereducated (as far as service dog laws) people working in public.
I have challenges that some businesses denied me help. I had to just stop going there. Even one doctor's office wouldn't help. Didn't have strength to pursue. But I've found much more considerate people here in Montana than other states though! For every uncaring person, there's at least 10 that try to understand. They have gone above & beyond, & even w/ a cheery smile & generous attitude. Didn't find in other states for winters. (CA discontinued it's state camping benefit for veterans & disabled. They had said it was for life! 😲) We're always glad to come home to where many people still hold the door open for you! I'm sorry you ran into a few uncaring situations. Passing through isn't always a good indication, so I realize other states may be better than my experience too! Thank you for your service! God help you & your family. 🙏🕊
More education is required, for a person like me who suffers from severe anxiety attacks a service dog would be an answer to prayers, please be kinder to your fellow man and just let people live there lives the best possible way they can.
I understand that it is for safety reasons that he was asked to keep his dog under the seat. But since the flight allows pet on board, shouldn't they need to come up with the solution instead of just commanding him what to do? He wanted to comply for sure, but at that point, what he could do, it's a big dog, and the dog wouldn't fit under the seat. It's pretty funny how the flight attendant kept forcing him to comply but didn't provide a solution for him, knowing that he is blind and even lied to get him kicked off the plane. Tbh, it's not always passengers fault, I have met some very rude and arrogant flight attendants before, and if we didn't follow what they asked us, and if they were in a bad mood, be ready to be told off. Most passengers don't even want to argue with them, so we would just sit quietly because we know once we are on plane you are in their territory, and they have the right and power to remove you. I was told off before for having some trash in my seat pocket before landing. She said why didn't you hand over your trash when I went around to collect trash and I said sorry I forgot and she looked really annoyed and her eyes went so big. So I told her, don't worry I would bring my own trash when I get off the plane, no need to trouble you for this insignificant matter.
As a childhood cancer survivor i know animals like dogs and cats can help humans whom have medical problems whether it be physical or mental. I had a dog whom helped me deal with PTSD as well❤ sadlyvmy baby got too sick to move around so i had to put him down. I miss him every day 😢 😮 i feel bad for this man because he is a veteran in need of his companion!❤
I Say You take your SERVICE DOG WHERE EVER YOU WANT ! MY BROTHER DIED IN VIETNAM SO WE GAVE ALL TO THIS COUNTRY AND YOU MY FRIEND GET TO ENJOY THESE FREEDOMS.....
I’m a MST survivor in need of a service dog, but after seeing all these problems I’ve decided not to go out and not get a service dog. I hate ignorant people
And there is ignorance that only veterans and cops and ambulance people are NOT the only people who have PTSD or CPTSD, because there is this ignorance and stigma of who can have a Service Dog is a Veteran, Police, EM. But people want to down play serious victims of CPTSD like myself can't be legit because I didn't serve. This is not fair for those like me for places to play the you didn't serve so you don't have PTSD which is bs. You don't have to serve to have PTSD, there is CPTSD amd it's usually found in early childhood into teen years and it get worse as you become an adult because when you needed a healthy stable life to grow up in where they felt safe and not abandoned, and were not abused. CPTSD comes from severe repeated trauma that disrupts the child's or teens brain development and makes them feel in constant fear, anxious, walking on egg shells , fight or flight and hypervigilence because they never had a moment growing up where they felt safe, where they weren't in one way or another emotionally, physically, psychologically and mentally abused by their care givers. This transfers into adulthood. You don't trust people, always looking over your shoulder, always feeling some acting nice wants something from you, you might have a fear or man or women depending on who abused you for many years. You can't trust therapist, however you trust animals hence why a Service Dog would be more beneficial because as a child they lost faith in humanity and people they don't take someone at their word due to the severe trauma they were put through. Later in life often desperate for a healthy relationship, these CPTSD surviors often more females than men fall prey to Trauma-Bond abusive manipulative narcissistic bulmies claiming they love and accept you....when it's all a lie and use your CPTSD to control, abuse and mooch off you....even use the "your broken damage no one else would want someone like you in a relationship, to keep the Trauma Bond going. Unfortunately many in society are ignorant to that civilians can have PTSD/CPTSD just as bad if not worse than a Veteran. You get up ND survive, it can cause issues in relationships, difficult to hold a job and hard to go to family and other events because of triggers. For each CPTSD Survior like myself or PTSD Survior our triggers, anxiety and panic attacks are different, how we act, speak or respond is different. Unfortunately ignorance in the ER's they are quick to assume you'll act out disturb others and be restless, lash out or violent out of ignorance they will try and sedate a PTSD or CPTSD and not even bother to see they aren't like that , that the hospital is grouping everyone with same diagnosis as if they'll act the same....wrong. I know this to well, I'm allergic to Benadryl and yet went in for a medical issue they down played and then told my brother "oh she has PTSD so we need to be cautious and sedate her for our safety " he told them that's ignorance and bias to assum she'd act out, you know nothing about CPTSD or PTSD cause if they did they would not lump us all together. They would know not everyone with it acts out like that so it's bs to assume anything. He asked em what they gave me, they didn't bother to look at my allergy chart and administrated a high dose of Benadryl I had severe reaction to. I don't lash out when triggered it's like I revert back to that childhood moment and feel like the scared child who shuts down goes numb so I don't feel the abuse being done to me. Unfortunately it doesn't help when I'm injured or need surgery because I can't feel pain caused by others and it's a psychological trauma rewire of the brain that shuts my ability to feel pain by another. Vers if I feel or got sick I'd feel it as I did it not a person. People are 95% the root cause of PTSD or CPTSD, while the other 5% is Serious Disasters. A smell, sound or person resembling the attacker/abuser is all it takes a trigger occurs and in rapid succession if enough triggers build up it overflowed the nervous system and brain the cortisone levels go high and body can't cope so it goes into PTSD or CPTSD mode to try and shutdown the symptoms and it's the worst feeling ever for those to watch and see knowing nothing they say or do will bring you out of it. However a Service Dog becomes that lifeline bond link to pu you out and lesson the symptoms. It's taxing on the body exhausting and can take for some days , even weeks to be able to get back to functioning again, unfortunately for many the holidays are often the worst with multiple triggers piling up and flashbacks. I know this all to well as a 2 year old to 25 year old CPTSD Survior and then two D.M relationships and Survived both. I need a Service Dog just to function outside of home, but that doesn't mean I'm a lesser person or that I need a man to be my care taker that's all misguided outdated delusional bias to prevent people from marrying a disabled person with PTSD or CPTSD.
Not 100% always. Some program training facilities had out ID like tag for the service dog stating it was trained at through their program, and may have some information about the program itself (example address and phone number), and may have the dog's name on it. May or may not have the type of service dog on it, example guide dog, medical alert dog, assistance dog, etc... There r a few people who may have legit owner trained service dogs that unfortunately r gullible enough to go and buy one of those fake ID ones offline. Though the ID them may be fake, it does not 100% necessarily mean the service dog is fake.
Naw. Many top training facilities/groups give them to new owners. More and more all the time. And usually they have the law on the back and link to the law on the gov website. The best way and only way to know without breaking the law and asking the wrong questions is if it's unruly(and not being messed with or sick or injured)or barking. Any service dog pays almost every bit of it's attention on it's owner. They go through years of training and cost in some cases 15k or more. My friend's dog was 12k for eg and was in training for 3 years.
Nobody asked the all-important question, "What service was the dog trained to perform?" People with real service animals answer this question readily. If the answer is not forthcoming, then it is not a service animal and can and should be denied entrance. The complainant's animal in this report sounds more like an emotional support animal (ESA) and is not covered by the ADA. Him not needing the dog to go to the restroom is further evidence that it is not a service animal as was the footage of the dog playing with children in the snow. Real service dogs are often attacked by the fake service dogs whose owners pay an online fly-by-night vest and certificate seller. The worst trend is people who get the fake vest and try to bring their untrained dog into establishments because the dog is so commonly out of control, they fear leaving it at home because it would destroy their house. That is exactly the dog no owner wants in their food establishment.
First of all, service dog teams do NOT have to provide the answer to the two allowed questions if the business never asks the two allowed questions in the first place. Secondly, the family of the dog is allowed to play with the dog at home. It's their dog! And people r allowed to go to the bathroom without their service dog if there isn't a private bathroom stahl or big enough stahl at the location. So if there is family/friends with the service dog team, then the handler can have them hold on to the dog while the handler goes to the bathroom. Many service dog teams have had to do this. And the dog is trained to help him with his PTSD. PTSD is a disability. The dog is a trained service dog. NOT an esa.
I havr no problem with service dogs and praise them but I think if the service dog is certified then maybe an id card only because theyre are too many knock offs Such as emotional support which you can get a certificate over the internet plus a true service dog is very docile again the true service dog has my admiration as far as an emotional support Im wandering if I got on a plane and had a python snake on my neck I could saybits my emotional support buddy
There is no such thing as certified or IDs from the federal government. They don't exist for a multitude of reasons. And per the laws they r not required. And anything that would be on it would be nothing but private information that nosey Nazi anti-american Karens r not privy to see. And they would do absolutely nothing to stop fools with untrained pets who already don't obey the rules/laws and already use bs fake pieces of plastic and paper that they bought from some scam website offline. Nor do u need to see some bs piece of plastic or paper to tell the difference between a service dog team and a fool with an untrained pet.
@@carriehollyland3596 So, I’m just curious: I’m in the process of being provided with a service dog by the government here in Denmark. And here it is required that specific organisations pre-train the dog before being placed, or that you owner-train it through specific organisations that meet with you once a month to assist with the training. When the dogs are ready they then have to pass an official test with basically no mistakes to be certified. So how is it done in America? From how I have understood it, the only requirement is that the owner has a disability and the dog is trained in one or more tasks to relieve that disability as well as under full control of the owner (no non-signal barking or jumping, no licking on stuff etc.). But who decides that the dog is up to those standards? Does the owner just take it with them to buy groceries one day, when they feel like the dog is fully trained? And then it’s a service dog? Are there no official tests?☺️
@@pmc2999 an ESA can be any animal. An ESA is not a service animal though. Those r two completely different things with completely different jobs, and completely different rules/laws/rights. And a service animal can only be a dog or a miniature horse. No other animal can be a service animal.
Sorry, but if you're not blind, deaf, or in a wheelchair KEEP YOUR PETS HOME! If your heart is racing 200 bpm and you need a dog to tell you to sit down, or you're a diabetic (like myself) and need a dog to tell you (which I highly doubt) that you took to much insulin... You have no business being in public by yourself 🤷🏾♀️
Blindness, deafness, or conditions that confine u to a wheelchair r not the only disabilities that exist, nor r they the only disabilities that service dogs r highly trained to help with.
And u apparently fail to fully understand diabetes or heart conditions. And just because someone suffers from those conditions, or any other disability, does not mean they r not allowed in public. What shouldn't be allowed in public is anti-american Karen's who go around making fools of themselves by judging innocent people who they don't even know, about something they know absolutely nothing about. 🤡
Service dogs are not for just the blind, deaf, or wheelchair users. People with service dogs are permitted to have their dog with them anywhere the general public is permitted to be. If you can't deal with that then you have no business being in public. 🤷🏾♀ Such an _incredibly_ Un Christlike viewpoint, by the way.
Excuse me, but diabetic alert service dogs can indeed detect their handler's low blood sugar issues through their sense of smell. Service dogs can be trained to help people with many different types of disabilities and they're NOT pets. Do some research. You might learn something.
A private business should have the right to refuse service to anyone. If it’s MY business then it should be MY right to serve whom I want. Not that I would kick one out but we should have the RIGHT! It’s MY price owned business!
No business has the right to break federal and state laws. And per the federal and state laws, discriminating against a service dog team purely because they have a service dog is 100% illegal. Service dogs have public access rights. Remember u chose to open ur business in this country. Meaning u must obey this country's laws. Whether u like it or not.
@@bythebnro7498 no, u should never have the right to break the laws and deny Americans their American rights. U should never have the right to discriminate against people with disabilities.
Again, u chose to open a business to serve the public in this country. That means u must obey all laws, which includes anti-discrimination and public access and service laws.
do you believe in equality for all? If so, why do you think disabled people should get special privileges over business owners? That doesn’t sound equal at all….. yall want disabled people to be treated as equals however you think the government should force business to cater to them with special treatment. It’s almost as if someone can’t say no to disabled people. For someone like me, I get said no to quite a bit. But I don’t go crying to a government entity trying to sue people because I don’t get my way. Also I don’t get the special privilege to sue when someone says no to me.
If they said no because u immediately went in to purposely cause a problem like u do on these videos, them yes, they can legally deny. Ur immaturity and trouble making is not something protected under the law and American rights. 🤣🤡
@@carriehollyland3596 according to the constitution of the United States , I have the right to life, liberty and property.
Maybe, I remember reading somewhere that someone tried to bring a peacock as an emotional support animal.
Wrong, Karen.
If u lack an education and maturity, then u need to stay home.
Such an _incredibly_ Un Christlike viewpoint, by the way.
Excuse me, but diabetic alert service dogs can indeed detect their handler's low blood sugar issues through their sense of smell. Service dogs can be trained to help people with many different types of disabilities and they're NOT pets. Do some research. You might learn something.
How about, grow a pair and you will not need the dog. Maybe if that doesn’t work then don’t join the military.
Unlike u, he already has a pair, as well as he has a 🧠.
Shame the same can't be said for u.
How about follow the law or go bankrupt
A private business should have the right to refuse service to anyone. If it’s MY business then it should be MY right to serve whom I want. Not that I would kick one out but we should have the RIGHT! It’s MY price owned business!
Wrong
No business has the right to break federal and state laws.
And per the federal and state laws, discriminating against a service dog team purely because they have a service dog is 100% illegal.
Service dogs have public access rights.
Remember u chose to open ur business in this country.
Meaning u must obey this country's laws.
Whether u like it or not.
@@carriehollyland3596 I’m not saying we DO have the right. But we SHOULD have the right we own the store not them
@@bythebnro7498 no, u should never have the right to break the laws and deny Americans their American rights.
Ooo, look, another one that shows ur severe lack of an education on American rights and laws.
That means I should have the right to deny people with service dogs for the sole reason of them having a service dog because a restaurant is private property. ADA laws force me to serve you even though I may not want to serve someone with a service dog. Therefore ADA violates private property rights.
@@stephenshuman1A service dog is classed as medical equipment. You wouldn't deny a wheelchair so you can't deny a service dog.
@@stephenshuman1 You got the quote wrong. You have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That does not mean you get to destroy the happiness of others. Disabled people have the RIGHT to whatever medical equipment they need. So no, it does not violate private property rights. Stop being silly.
You don’t need a dog to go to a restaurant.
Depending on a persons disability they may actually need their dog in a restaurant. Where my deaf daughter may can get through lunch without a hearing dog but she would need that same dog to navigate streets and alert her to noises on the way home.
You don’t need to be a Karen! We deserve a life to! Your discriminatory and don’t deserve to have friends.
I do. My dog is being trained still. He prevents me from panic attacks!
The dog needs to be wherever the handler is. That includes restaurants. If you do not like it, feel free to order takeout.
my friends dog alerts her when she is about to have a seizure!!! i have been with her MANY times she has NEVER been denied entry to any restaurant in wisconsin
