We do have music like this… but it’s just not in any good films these days…. Hollywood has gone seriously downhill the last decade for quality of its films
I don't know much about movie making. I suspect that it was tailored to the movie. Maurice Jarre. It was an excellent score and I think captured the emotion of it. I especially liked the score as he as fighting Blaster. It's iconic.
The home of the waiting ones was filmed at Mermaids Cave, Blackheath NSW Australia. As for the thumbnail, I suspect this was probably taken somewhere around The Blue Mountains near mermaids cave itself. This area is actually quite lush (Its a national park) so the desert is definitely practical effects and/or cgi.
@@TheRealPDizzle I looked it up and it says the desert was just some sand dune quarry near Sydney or something and not a real desert but I've always been curious if 4:18 is a real place or just a matte painting.
Question: Max spins the wheel of justice and it stops on “Gulag” which in no way represent the punishment he receives; that being Banishment and/or Death By Terminal Dehydration. Seeing that Max had already worked shoveling pig excrement alongside the “Pig Killer” Guy (who was sentenced to life as a forced laborer, aka Gulag) did Auntie perhaps decide to override the Gulag Sentence decided by the wheel? Maybe because she wanted to be rid of Max rather thank risk keeping even as a slave within the confines of Bordertown?
Gulag I thought meant exile and there was a spot in the wheel labeled Aunty's Choice. So unless it landed there it doesn't seem reasonable your proposition. I suspect all parties understood their role. It's also notable who executed it. It was almost like Aunty wasn't involved. That was a part of the law. Obviously she was involved but not as executioner. It's a great movie.
Good question. I guess that's the magic if movie making. If we knew it probably wouldn't be as captivating but the desert was capable of devouring a person like quicksand. A part of the way the world had turned in a dime.
Actually I am not sure this is a sequel in the truest sense because the person who played pilot was in Road Warrior and didn't seem to recognize Mel Gibson. It's definitely not supposed to be Mad Max III. It's a standalone although he might have simply decided no brace was required. I'm not sure if a simple answer applies to any part of it. It's an anthology. An anthology has a different motive and isn't about a theme apart from being in the series.
Gulag probably meant exile. I don't think it necessarily meant being inta horse. It might have meant being banished and they might have had a horse available so they probably used whatever there was available at the time.
Does anyone know if 4:18 is a real canyon or just a matte painting as it's hard to find an answer on the internet as "crack in the earth" just gives the cove location where the kids live.
If that was the mad max from Mm2:Trw. With his dog and V8 interceptor, he'd have been well and truly off, and away from those punks and would've wasted them all.
My thought is, they exiled him, not executed him. The horse meant he might have a fighting chance to stay alive- kill and eat the horse, which of course didn’t happen thanks to the sands!
Ngl it always bothered me they didn't just make max walk..... A horse?! There's no way they have that many they can just throw it away. And even if it's dying anyway for whatever reason that's good meat. Better than what the people eater is having anyway
I was thinking the same thing as well. The nuclear war changed the world’s ocean currents and the sand dunes you see here along with the crack in the earth was once the ocean floor.
Here's a humorous 1 ...Abraham Lincoln is sitting with Ulysses Grant ...Grant with his cigar, glass of bourbon 🥃 ...Lincoln sharing bourbon with Grant ...Abe says, "Im not shaving my head bald ...I don't care what the trends are ...how about you Ulysses?" Wellll, I'm not going for the bald look ither "I believe that's either Ulysses, not ither" (Grant laughs) Right ...could you imagine two bald headed men, leading America? "Honestly! (Honest Abe says) no...two shaved headed men leading this nation? Absolutely not" (they both laugh" 😅😂
I watch these scenes and am often surprised at what a good movie this was. The music was simply masterful. We don't have music like this anymore.

The most terrifying thing about the Mad Max movies is a future like this is very likely to happen in real life.
As soon as most humans are dead the forrestwill return and with it the balance
@John Doe absolutely. By 2050 water won't be enough to support the whole world population.
Nah

This movie is a true classic.
For water being so valuable, Max sure wastes a lot of it. Just let’s it run down his face.
Not exactly water has a cooling effect so even though he wasn't drinking it he would have been beneficiary to it.
@@christopherfoote4643 That’s what sweat glands are for. To more efficiently use water is to ingest it and sweat it out.
I live about 20 minutes from where this scene was recorded. Scary to think my home looking like a wasteland.
I'm really curious, where was this recorded? Did they do tricks to make it look like an insurmountable desert, or does it really look like that?

Possible. Or maybe the meaning of Gulag was lost over time and they only knew it as "sending someone away never to be seen again".
Someone summonzed the monkey. Obviously it was someone on the inside who thought Max needed help. There wasn't explanation for it.

It's a little disconcerting. It's sort of comical except that he's being sent to an impassable cliff. He's being exiled and is expected to die
