- Опубліковано 7 лют 2022
- Welcome to my SUPER DUPER edition of Restoration Roulette! In this show I have to fully restore a classic car and get it sold, there's a catch..... I don't know what car it's going to be and I've only get 2 months to do it with a budget of £20k! Can it be done?
What car am I going to get? Watch and find out. SPOILER ALERT!! It's a MK1 FORD ESCORT :)
In this video I clean out the twin Webers and get the body inn the paint booth
If you picked a classic car restoration what would it be? Would you keep it standard or make it fast, loud and fun? Let me know in the comments.....
As always if you can leave a cheeky like and subscribe that would be mint!

Good old carbs when they don't fight each other sound brilliant too
Amazingly neat and tidy workshop!
Absolutely love watching this icon being rebuilt. UA-cam is full of super cars etc but personally, give me a MK1 Escort being rebuilt any day! Great works lads 👏
Cheers Heath, can’t beat the old induction noise of a pair of webers 😍
Fully agree Heath.
Interesting one that was lads. Can't wait to see it in paint.
Webber carbs explained, for those who don’t know the basics. Most would shine the carbs up after a refurb. Looking forward to seeing the mk1 all finished!
@@keithoddautos5044 I ve been hooked on this from, the beginning!
Great build workshop is banging 👌
Great camera work on this episode with the close up shots of the carburetor jets. Entertaining and educational.
Cheers guys another great video to entertain me through another nightshift.
Ahh brill, hope it passes the time and you like it buddy 👍👍
Really good , you should have got them vapour blasted as they would look like new but without causing any damage
Yer could have done but had the machine so thought I’d put it to use.
@@ODDAutos I use vapour blasting then clean them with the ultrasonic bath as a final process and for cleaning the bits that can't be vapoured. Great work great vid.
Hi Guys, nice to see a set of Sides been worked on and explained. Today its all about ITB's and injection. I am sure some guys will agree that nothing beat the sound of a sorted set at full tilt. After all, they are the original ITB's if you think about it. Also, cool cameo appearance of Keith (lol) 😁 Top men.👌 from S.A
@@keithoddautos5044 🤣🤣🤣
When I win the euromillions, you two are going to be very busy!
I hope the carburettors clean up better, great work chaps! Can't wait to see it finished. 🏁🏁🏁🏁🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Well guys another great video, keep up the good work 👍
Cheers Tony, glad you liked it buddy 👍
Cmon lads cracking job
Having a couple of Webers on ye lump was the poodles private back in the seventies. The First on I rebuilt was on a mates Mk3 2000GT Cortina. We thought we were a couple of geniuses when that that thing actually ran.
Can’t beat the sound of webers on full throttle 😍
Hi, great to see how you strip down the Webbers
Cheers John, yes it’s a very satisfying job to do 👍
Thanks for sharing. .
Very instructive. Great cheerful lads. May everyone be like you. 👍👍
Ahh cheers Gerald, glad you liked the video buddy 👍
So you actually fiddled that “ding” on the sonic cleaner! (You little pickle…)😊
Must have done it 5-6 times to try and get it to ding at the end of my sentence! Nearly gave up lol
Vapour blasting brings up the carb bodies like new
Awsome job guys a Kent motor on 40s is a mad motor
Hopefully go real well 👍👍
Good work guys can't wait for the next installment keep up the great content 👍
My God, I miss working on carbs. Just sitting here thinking of the induction sound they will make has me way too excited tbh, can't wait to here her fired up.
I’ll see if I can shove the cameras microphone as far in as possible once it’s running lol. I can’t wait to hear the roar too 😍
@@ODDAutos That would be magic, thank you.
Keep at it lads great content again.
Cheers buddy 👍👍
Paul / Kieth cars looking great ready for high build times against you both so bet your unbelievably busy ! That’s the beauty of the old fords they are so easy work on not like the cars of today brilliant showing how they work and how to rebuild in a throw away society bud keep safe she’s going run like a thoroughbred 😉👍🏻 and sound awesome ! 👍🏻👍🏻
Can’t wait to hear it on full throttle, I’ll see if I can shove the camera microphone next to it when I do 👍
Gets more exciting with evey episode. Nice one lads!!!
Cheers John, glad your liking the videos buddy 👍👍
Lookin good guys ❤ the car is looking good to👍nice😉
Cheers big Phil 👍👍
Great little vid to keep us up to date on the MK1. Brilliant.
Cheers Paul, won’t be long now till it’s done 👍
Only thing I would do mybe polish the weber tips abit great vid 🧡
Cheers Eddy 👍
good work, its been lite difrent of clean the carburator then
Finally; something I've actually done myself! I rebuilt the Webers on my Cobra replica. Unfortunately I overtightened the emulsion tubes and crushed them. Lesson learned but they looked much better and didn't leak.
Ahh brill, love those! My friends got a Daytona which is 😍
I'm sure that you guys are trying your best to get this restoration done in time but if you can't - don't worry because I forgive you 👍. The amount of graft you are both putting in is amazing and mind boggling that you gave yourselves 2 months!! I take my hat off to you both, it's a massive undertaking and your doing a great job. Really love your videos thanks lads
Cheers Nathan, yes was a little in dream land doing this in 2 months ha ha. Shouldn’t be far off it though 👍👍
Your personality and interactions are very pleasant to watch. Just hope it's real not contrived.
I thought you were gonna do us some chips for a minute 🤣 I have an urge to go and buy some 40s now it’s been years since I’ve seen them .
Nice tutorial to my good man I’d forgotten about the simple life under the bonnet now it’s all censers computers and head scratching 👍
It’s a nightmare now with the new stuff, can get a car dragged in for non-start and could be any of the 50 or so sensors under the hood 👍
Had a 186 Holden motor in an EH years ago
Triple 45s and did this job, but could never get one to sync with the others, drove me insane lol
Good clear explanation of the parts Paul
Cheers guys 👍
They are a pain to set up but what a great noise they make 😀
As always , very interesting ! I rebuilt a mk1 in 1998 and watching you guys brings back memories.
Ahh brilliant, glad your liking the videos Steve 👍
Another great video just as well you stripped and cleaned the carburettors especially as the seals have perished a job well done
Cheers William, yes look much better now. Was well worth it 👍👍
Another quality video lads!
Cheers Jeff, glad you liked it buddy 👍
Another great video! Keep up the great work, very clear and informative. Love the style you guys have, informal but professional, you know your stuff! Looking forward to this build completing, I had twin 40s on car previously and got addicted to the induction roar. Lovely.
Wish I had a sonic cleaner when I drove my mk2 with twin 40s.. darn motor would run on 1 carb and sound like a Volksy on cold mornings till the sediment found it's way out lol, great days
They are a pain sometimes, need valve always sticks shut on my golf when it’s been sat for a while.
Hoping the next vid is 100% painting....cant wait
Yep should be 👍👍
Nice one lad's 👍🏼 👌🏽
Cheers buddy 👍
Cracking Video as per usual. Only ever owned two car with carbs and I didn't have either of them long enough to worry about a doing any work on them, as I tend to run the dirty side of life and have had diesels for most of my driving life.
Cheers Digger, glad you liked it buddy. Most of my daily’s are diesels to be fair, just can’t beat the fuel economy on them 👍
Great stuff it won't be long now😊😊
Getting there now, hopefully be very soon 👍👍
Nice one Paul, if you put a hedgehog in the "sonic" bath, does it come out blue? 🤔😁 Looking forward to the next episode.
Blue and really fast ha ha
Great content again boys!! 👌
Been a while since I've played with any 40s now everyone is running throttle bodies, best sound ever on full throttle! very well explained Paul 👍 looking forward to seeing primer and paint going on!! 🚗💨
Cheers Neil, yes can’t wait to hear them roar now 👍
Another great vid guys! Always a great watch.
Nice to see the funny mess up clips at the end 🤣
Ha ha always mucking up we are, could do a whole video on those 🤣
Lovely job lads. it’s getting closer each day 👍
Cheers buddy 👍👍
Brill vid 👍🏻 Well shot and nicely explained !!
Cheers bro 👍👍
Very satisfying cleaning and sealing carbs! Good to know youve got a sonic bath now tooo ;)
Yes mate, borrow it when ever you need it buddy. It works a treat 👍
Another awesome video from you guys, thanks and keep them coming. 😀
Cheers Matthew, glad you liked it buddy 👍👍
Would love to see the trumpets on the carbs polished to finish them off 🤟
Yes still more to do before fitting them 👍
Hey peeps! Impressed with Pauls knowledge of old skool carburetors _(I have a little knowledge of the Weber 32/34_ 1.3L / 1.4L CVH _models - very simple to work on)_ but not these twin behemoths!!
Seeing your sonic bath; thought you was gonna put the chips on! - after all, you have the vinegar on hand!
Ha ha the smell reminded me of a chip shop, maybe one with oil and petrol in tho ha ha
Nice one, it’s coming together now. Given what you started with can’t wait to see the paint going on!
Yes it looks mint now, nearly there! Can’t wait 👍👍
Back in the day, everyone used to swap out the stock carburettor for twin choke webbers. Now you have to balance them. 😫
Yes can’t beat a pair of webers! Balancing a easy with the vacuum tester, I’ll have to remember to show doing it 👍👍
😎👍👍
your videos are great. the only thing I would change is the background music. you can get someone on Fiverr to make like a 2 min trademark instrumental that you can loop on every video, and maybe make it enjoyable as well :P
Sweet
Hey Paul - Great stuff. Brings back memories of tuning the Webers on my Twin Cam. We pressed the end of a screwdriver on the inlet and listened through the handle to adjust each port accordingly. The noise of twin webers at full throttle is something to behold. Thanks for the videos
Hey that’s some old school tuning, I remember being sat on a wing tuning a distributor while a friend drove the car ha ha. Thank god for new tools 🤣
Another great video lads 👍🏻
Any reason you aren't vapour/aqua blasting the carbs? I keep drooling over those Vixen blast cabinets on Facebook 🤣
@@keithoddautos5044 haha fair enough.
Quality as always 👌
Cheers Alan 👍👍
“You bought that Sonic Bath 2 years ago and haven’t used it yet”? Blimey, have I told you about my wife’s shoe collection ??
Ha ha, at least I’ve only 2 pairs of shoes.
A bit of alloy bright would have made all the difference.
Yes still more cleaning to do after 👍
Shouldn't 40DCOE's have steel trumpets which slide into the carb body and centralise the auxiliary venturis? The cast alloy ones look like Dellorto DHLA trumpets. About 42 years ago I bought a brand new set of 40 DCOE 2's which came fitted with dellortto cast alloy trumpets because the steel trumpets were too long to fit in the air box they were supplying for my Mk1 Mexico. I had to get some shorter genuine steel weber trumpets.
If you look at the Haynes Weber carb manual the front cover shows how the trumpets are retained with two special washers on the abutment diameter of the trumpet, and page 146 shows a breakdown of the carb again showing the steel trumpets which locates the auxiliary venturi. Maybe they have changed since I bought mine. You say yours are 20 year old, mine would be 42 is years old. In fact they are still going strong on my pals Lotus Elan S1.
Cool to see a weber striped and rebuilt . Been years since I done that lol
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌
Yes something very satisfying about doing those, great to see the difference once it’s clean.
@@ODDAutos it's looking good .
What exhaust are yous using ?
👍👍👍😜🏴🦕🦄😁🤞✌
Carb still looks horrible. Get them vapour blasted. You won't regret it !
