Nice hike guys! Too bad it was hazy though. Thanks evers so much for the screenshot of your route too! Makes it perfectly clear where you were and which way you went so I can do the same route some day! Take care and be safe out there.🙂
Today Jon used inov-8 Roclite G345 GTX and I used La Sportiva/Janji Jackal II. Jon also uses Hoka Kaha and, in winter, Oboz Bridgers. We both have (or have used) Hoka Speedgoats, La Sportiva Bushido II, Adidas Terrex, and Altra Lone Peaks. For winter, I used men’s Salomon Tundras, but they’ve worn out. I have replaced them with Baffin Borealis, but haven’t used them yet. My personal favorite three-season shoe is La Sportiva Bushido II (I have a wide fore-foot and very high arch). Jon’s is Hoka Speedgoat (he has flat feet). I’m interested in trying out Topo Athletic shoes…
I climbed Moosilaukee in the late 1970s. I took Gorge Brook but it was in a different location back then than it is now on the Ridge to the right. When did they close the old slide trail. I don't think it was there when I did that climb. I don't remember any slide. I was a VIP chauffeur for 8 years and one of my clients used to hire me to take him to the White Mountains with friends to go climbing. I would take short hikes while he did Moosilaukee or Garfield on another trip. I got to hang out at the Ravine Lodge building for about 6 hours one day. What a beautiful building. He was one of my favorite clients as I was able to give him.plenty of advice. He was one of the people who nicknamed me the Storyteller.

@@laurasoule2771 your socks are pretty wild too, love 'em.
Haha! Those are Dirty Girl gaiters (to keep pine needles and dirt out of the shoes). My socks actually are pretty wild, too!

Richard, the DOC opened Gorge Brook Slide Trail in 1966 for uphill travel and closed it in 1980. I love to hear your stories!
