I’m so sad that you are upset about frizzle and Nickles, but you still have ALL OF US! Please take your time, and remember you’re never alone! Blues traveler has a song called ..the mountains win again! Check it out! May God always Bless you Stick the Eagle!
Remember, Captain Jack started 2 months before you. He completely skipped the Smokies, took the easier Virginia Creeper Trail instead of the AT, and slack packed some. You would have blown past him a long time ago. You are doing great, and my favorite to watch. You are not slow. I'm sure videoing and editing takes a lot of your time, and we appreciate you. Thank you.
GREAT WORK!!!! I'd be slow with you. You're giving me hope someday I can do it, even if I'm slow. Keeping going friend! You GOT this!! Better to hike your speed.
It's not a "goodbye", it's a "see ya later". Seems like the 3 of you had a pretty good bond. That doesn't get broken by the speed you travel over a mountain. And... who knows what the future holds. Keep on keeping on and enjoy yourself in the time being.
I could really feel it when you got emotional. Wanted to give you a big hug and telling you that you are doing amazing. You look like such a good guy. Take care.
Stick, hike your own hike. Its wonderful to have folks to hike with, you are an amazing person. You are on a life time journey. Let nothing stand in your way. Big hugs AND remember to embrace the journey and happy trails❤
Hike your own hike and don't get discouraged!! You have been such an encouragement all along the way!! You have shown such a Christian example! Keep it up!!
You did a wonderful job showing us that descent ... interesting placement with a gorgeous waterfall right next to the grueling trail. But you conquered it! I am sorry to hear that you will not be seeing Frizzle and Nickels on trail anymore, but I am so proud that you felt those emotions so strongly and expressed them to us. There are so many stories that will come from this time in your life and hopefully you will retain the friendships after trail, especially with Frizzle, who is close by in MA, and Nickels, who is not much farther in PA. Sounds like wondeful potential for reminiscing over weekend or longer hikes with them in the future. Your decents have put new meaning to "rock slides"! Embrace the journey and oh, what a journey!
Stick, you are absolutely amazing!!! Keep your chin up! “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves “ you’ve got this! Stay safe and continue to enjoy your journey 🥾🥾🏕️🪵
Thank you for doing an excellent job documenting the trail! I’m so glad to see you being very cautious, my prayers are with you as you continue through the whites! ❤
Keepin' it real on trail... this seemed to be a very mental day for you... not just exhausting physically... the struggle is real... good to take extra time for safety reasons... you got this! Happy Trails! 👟🎒🗻🪨⛺️🌲💚🙏🥾
I’m gonna guess 3+ hours? To get to the parking lot? Next on the resupply list- nail clippers (essential !) no liners? Possibly trying some coconut oil and peppermint oil mixed on those dogs may help you step a bit more comfortably- works for me. . . .the buff covering the ears is a wise choice to keep the buds from buzzing in them. I can definitely understand missing Frizzel and Nickels, I’d feel the same way- those two are downright angelic souls and super likable! The trail is teaching you to accept unforeseen changes; 1 max speed limit 2 mph. ; 2 15 minute minimum Power Nap rule/ and realize when you’re due- (when you drop bottle caps - then bottles- that is a definite sign that the rule is officially in effect) .Turning that disappointment into joy- lesson learned (the trail provides again) well done! O.M.G! SNOW DURING THAT! Your timing is perfect for being one lucky thru hiker on the A.T. - the weather has got your back! Yes I agree to be grateful for the conditions being able to navigate thru the tree blowdown’s around these parts in my neck of the woods as well - the weather nowadays is changing more and more, the Earth’s message to us to live in harmony with the Natural World- Climate Change is no joke my brothers and sisters! Embrace the Earth and Happy Trails!🚴🏼♂️🧘🏼🌱🌿🙏
Continue to stay positive😀, you got this, one step at a time! Hike your own hike & take care of yourself! You will have time to catch up with the friends that you made along the journey. You will meet new people and make new friends to add to the list of those that you’ve made, never know what God has in store for you.
Typical descent from Moosilauke! 5 Stack stayed at the same shelter, then down, up Wolf and Kinsmens, then got lost in dark for 2 1/2 hours . It took him 17 hours on trail plus the lost time to get to parking lot at Flume. .03 miles in 1 1/2 hours is typical. I think if I ever do it, I’m going SOBO
That section I. Winter looks even worse. I wondered if it might be easier to do it southbound. I just saw you have 5 more days on trail and that you are doing scout camp. Had you been planning to stay on trail I know your friends would have seen you again. They probably realized they should go on since you are not planning to finish until later. You definitely should finish. You’ve got the hard part done!
It’s concerning about the pain in your chest. Please consider getting this checked as soon as you can. My husband had a heart attack at a young age so it’s better to be safe than sorry. Admire your tenacity to make it through all those boulders . Stay safe and CARPE DIEM.
That rocky, muddy trail was treacherous! Some nice views of coming mountains! Keep hiking your own hike and stay safe! Prayers for your safety and encouragement! 🙏 😊
Way to tackle that extremely challenging day… your optimistic attitude is so refreshing. You totally “rocked” today’s hike. Enjoy the Journey & Happy Trails Stick the Eagle… 🥾
Stick, you’re not slower than them. You are focused on UA-cam content. You stop to video and talk, where they don’t. If you want to hike with them, try to do an end of the day video where you talk about the highlights of your day, or things that happened with your gear, etc. Hiking with your friends seem to be very important right now and I don’t feel like you are enjoying the journey like your past videos. Have you thought about skipping a day and not video, just enjoy the hike? Happy trails! Happy Trails!
No I hadn’t thought about that but I think I would miss filming. I like being able to have it documented so that o can always look back and remember my hike.
Hey Stick. Been following you since day 1. Love your videos. I so much want to hike the AT next year. You make it look “do’able”. However, I’m 61 years old and wouldn’t feel comfortable hiking it alone. I live in TN and hike sections of the AT, but I do it with a hiking club. Hopefully, I can find someone to hike the AT with in 2025. Keep up the Journey. You’re almost there!!!!!
I did an AT solo NOBO at age 62 in 2008. You can do it also. I recommend that you get in condition before you start. That will make it much easier and much more enjoyable. I live in west TN where we don't have mountains to work out on. I used the local fire tower which has 10 landings and that was a good workout with a loaded pack. And I did lots of miles on these local hills. Pack time is very important. Good luck!! Kanati.
I would guess it took you 4 hours to hike down off Mt. Moosilauke. Wish I was doing it with you. It looked crazy hard. I remember bad bat yelling about how crazy it was
wow that looked pretty intense, sometimes I wonder how they call it a trail, and I am surprised more people are not injured. I like the more open flat trails!!!
Way to bring tears to my eyes about not being with your friends. You’re doing amazing and WOW, that terrain was insane. I can’t see how you even did that. Just keep doing you! You are one strong person and we are cheering you on the whole way. You’ve got all of us on your journey. I have a good feeling, you’ll see your friends again. Question? Why do they call it The Whites? Is that just the mountains name?
Looks like plenty of water sources. Even though its getting more challenging you're killing it. Way to go! I like a challenge and that area looks really fun to me. Im 5'2 so Im sure Id be crawling alot😂 But man, the firs and the layout of the trail is unreal. And that waterfall, holy cat's. Wheres the water coming from? Is there still snow? I dont know the geography so not sure the elevation of those mountains and we dont have mountains here in Wisconsin that tall. Im guessing 3 hours it took to go 1.5 miles. Oh no now Im tearing up. Dont get upset Stick. They may slow down so you can catch up and even if they go ahead youll see them again Im sure. I think you lost your energy because when someone gets sad or emotional, it zaps everything from you. Do some meditation or something to get through it. You can do this. And we're all here for you. I know I think about the hikers I follow throughout my day, especially at bedtime thinking yall are probably just waking up as Im going to bed. Im a nightowl so dont get to bed until 4am or so, so 5am your time. Im probably not the only one that thinks of yall besides watching videos. We've been following almost everyday for months so it feels like were friends and care more about yall than just fb friends. Im sure we'll understand if you want to just put your phone away for now to be able to catch up with Frizzle and Nickels. You're tall and have long legs. You could catch up pretty quick Id think. Remember to Always embrace the journey and happy trails ❤ ✌️🫶
I know it's disappointing, but you are right. The mountains will still be there tomorrow. That really difficult terrain is why New Hampshire is considered the 2nd-hardest of the states. (What does that tell you about Maine, right? Although I think the weather plays into this because of the creek crossings so maybe you'll have good weather. Last year fording those creeks got really dangerous). I'm glad you got to spend time with Frizzle and Nickels even if you don't get to summit Katahdin with them.
Stick I watched day:111 before commenting. A few thoughts: Don't beat your self up about the amount of miles you are doing. You are both hiking and filming. The AT through Kinsmans are some of the more ornery hiking in the White Mountains and rather than looking at your mileage, look at the number of hours of hiking that you put in. Happy Trails.
I kind of wonder how Frizzle and Nickeks got 4 days ahead of you?? You were just with them? I wish they would slow down and be with you until you leave. I know it’s Hike Your Own Hike but I would love for them to do that.
I don’t believe your followers will go away if you didn’t film for a few days I suggest putting the phone in your pack and hike. That’s what Slow and Steady is doing
Really? I didn’t realise he wasn’t filming as much. I want to document it though; it’s my trail journal. Definitely not complaining about the additional time spent.
Look, you are tired. Don't hike that terrain tired. You'll fall. Realize this part is another hike, not Georgia. So, sleep, be satisfied with shorter days, get this salt tablets, etc. Hydrate. Eat. The terrain dictates. If you've allergies, congestion, we can get winded more and breathing a bit harder. Keep track of chest pains. Are they shallow, on surface more or deeper inside. Maybe take a zero asap and get into a clinic.
I’m so sad that you are upset about frizzle and Nickles, but you still have ALL OF US! Please take your time, and remember you’re never alone! Blues traveler has a song called ..the mountains win again! Check it out! May God always Bless you Stick the Eagle!
You made me cry about Frizzle and Nickels. I feel like they are our friends too. So proud of you Stick! Praying. ❤
With you one that one!😂❤. 🙏
Thank you.
Thank you!! It definitely does take time, but I enjoy it so much. Appreciate you following!!
Hike your own hike Stick. Safety first. Keep at it at your own pace. Every safe step is a step closer .
The Whites are gorgeous, but the terrain is no joke. Take your time and enjoy them.
GREAT WORK!!!! I'd be slow with you. You're giving me hope someday I can do it, even if I'm slow. Keeping going friend! You GOT this!! Better to hike your speed.

Stick, hike your own hike.

Well said!
Hike your own hike and don't get discouraged!! You have been such an encouragement all along the way!! You have shown such a Christian example! Keep it up!!
You're not alone Stick , hundreds are with you!!!.
You are doing great! Wolf and Kingsman are tough, but the beauty you are about to experience will make the rest of the Whites seem easier.
Stick, day 111 was so tough! You amaze us all with your determination and kind spirit. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
You did a wonderful job showing us that descent ... interesting placement with a gorgeous waterfall right next to the grueling trail. But you conquered it! Oh what a journey is right!! I do hope and I think that some of these friends will reappear at some point.
Beautiful NH Trail next to the waterfall…loved it!
Stick, you are absolutely amazing!!! Keep your chin up! “Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others, cannot keep it from themselves “ you’ve got this! Stay safe and continue to enjoy your journey 🥾🥾🏕️🪵

So true! New friends will be found!
Under mud planks…looking forward to this… 😅
Hang in there Pastor Stick!! You got this!! Hike your own pace and be cautious!! God go with you brother.
I feel so sad that you’re not going to see your friends. Maybe meet up with them when they go up katadin and come back and hike the rest later?
My schedule this summer will not really allow that.
Sorry for your sadness losing your tramily. You’ll reunite someday. Maybe Trail Days next year. That hike looked stressful. Good going.😊❤
I want to hike the AT someday but I am honestly not sure if I can physically do the Whites. It looks impressive, beautiful, and very difficult.
Try a few short hikes up in the Whites and see what you think!

Oh yes I am sure it would be hard in winter. But I actually talked to someone who said it was easier in winter because all the rocks disappear.
We love you stick!
Super ep!that was a lot of different directions all packed into 30😁
Keep moving sing dance like King David take the battle to the mountain.
Stick you rock
Thanks for the detailed video and description of that section. I found it harder than any other section in the Whites

Best vid yet! Documented the hike itself well. You made a killer push. Good job
. . . have fun un the Mahoosics 😊.
Stick, you sound like Job today. hang in there and keep the faith.

Take Care of YOU. Don’t want to see you have to quit because of your health from pushing too hard.
Great job Stick!! Beautiful terrain!! Great hiking!😊

They are snowy for much of the year.

The water just comes right out of the mountain. It’s beautiful.

You might not catch Jack, but Haystack is hiking around you. Keep up the good hike. When does camp start?
You can do it .
You are probably past Lincoln but they have a outfitter also rei in North Conway
Pretty sure he left the trail, to meet a work obligation at a summer camp.

They are more experienced in The Whites than I
salt . . . eat town veggies, fruits, nuts, trail mix.
It is a marathon not a sprint.
