      @@GetUpandGame it was great! The first thing I heard (as a mostly solo player myself) was that Rogue was FOR multiplayer, so I haven’t put a lot of time into her yet. But that defense of her and showing how she has some great solo synergy as well is awesome. I loved it! Great topic choice (as always) and I loved the back and forth, great start to my day! Thank you!!

    Great to see you both join forces for these short topics! I'm glad that with time, Rogue's solo performance is being more appreciated, even if some cool interactions are only available in multiplayer. Also agree with Brandt that it feels like the designers are well aware of the solo player community

      Yeah! There’s no denying you can do cooler stuff in MP, but for me she’s plenty fun and interesting enough to stay in the solo rotation. It’s so impressive how they manage to serve so many different audiences with these games!

    Great episode. Looking forward to next week. I was debating if I would even get Rogue as I only play solo but you have convinced me!

      Thanks! Yeah as long as you build decks focused on either gaining different traits from your allies or planning to recycle events from your own discard pile (or both) she can still do some really awesome things!

    Great video, Josh! Chatting with other players about MC helps a lot cuz you get to hear dif perspectives on the game AND it also leads me to having some queries 😅 for example: Brent mentioned that in multiplayer Rogue can pick another hero’s card from their discard pile and play it, but my question is Where does that card go after being played? Rogue’s discard pile or the other hero’s? The same questions comes up when you play support/upgrade cards that say “play under any player’s control” or whatever. If that card leaves play to which discard pile does it go?
    I usually play solo as well but sometimes in multiplayer it gets very tricky to understand all these rules and sorta “loopholes”

    • @brandtsanderson4665

      Cards always return to their original decks discard pile when discarded.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      Yep cards always return to their owner’s discard piles! This is especially helpful to remember with cards like Mysterio’s and Mystiques. When their cards that got put in your deck get discarded they go back to the encounter discard pile

    The big miss factor for rogue solo, is getting stalwart. Drawing a card feels so good when you play one of rogue’s attack/thwart events.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому

      Oh for sure. It’s too bad there wasn’t some way to work that into her solo play 😕. Before she came out I was so sure there would be an expensive Basic upgrade in her pack that gave Stalwart so at least the option would be available
      Thankfully the other options on her events are also super good and available. And being able to keep pulling To Me My X-men (and other cool cards) out of the discard pile is just so fun that I still find her more fun to play than a fair few others for solo ☺️

    Because I only play solo, I decided I was going to minimize what I was missing from Rogue, so I play with a chosen co-hero out. I then allow Rogue to choose to put Touched on that co-hero. I still can't pull from that co-hero's deck, but Rogue can gain that co-hero's trait(s) and gain Stalwart. It's a very simple modification that allows me to have a fair amount of the fun that multiple players have (and I've been having a lot of fun with it so far in my "Protection" tournament I'm currently running). 🙂 Oh, and thanks for the video! I enjoyed it!

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому +1

      That is a fantastic idea!! The one time I was able to play Rogue in 2 player being able to gain Stalwart for a moment was clutch so it’s really cool you’ve thought of a way to have access to that. Now that you mention it, I really wish they had baked into the rules of Touched that if you chose not to attach it to anything she gained Stalwart. Oh well lol
      And it’s really nice to be able to build Traits into your deck without relying on your allies coming up in the right order
      Very cool! Thank you sharing that! 😃
      Ooo and how does your Protection tournament work??

    • @johnwaynemcclung8056
      @johnwaynemcclung8056 Рік тому

      @@GetUpandGame You're welcome. 🙂
      As far as running my aspect tournaments is concerned (currently with Protection) is that I pick 5 or 6 villains to go up against. It can be convenient to use the villains from a campaign, but I don't always do it that way. The goal is to generally have the later villains be more challenging than the earlier villains. Then I have every hero go up against the first villain. All heroes who win continue to the next villain. At the end, any heroes remaining are the champions of the tournament. I have some other rules, too, but that's the gist of it.
      I also allow "soft" victories and then differentiate between those soft victories and dominant or earned victories so that I can truly judge the champions at the end. I track it all in a spreadsheet. I'd be happy to share that with you if you'd like. For me personally, it’s what motivates me to play Marvel Champions regularly (or most any other game). Before I started doing this with my games, I found myself getting bored with the games once I played a couple of times. This gives me constant motivation to make new decks and refine them throughout the tournament. I will sometimes allow heroes a re-do if I realize I made a poor deck in the first round or just haven’t figured out the villain yet (otherwise, the early heroes are at a significant disadvantage).

    Its weird, but Rogue's biggest drawback seems to be her potential. Rogue is really good without being able to gain Stalwart, but since you know you COULD get it you feel like missing out. Similarly most decks I've seen really lean into Trait shenanigans, because that COULD be cool/powerful where just leaning into her kit and being an X-Men is still really powerful.
    The feeling of leaving something out is stronger than appreciating what she brings.

    • @GetUpandGame
      @GetUpandGame  Рік тому

      Wow that is really well put. You’re absolutely right. There’s no denying that you’re missing something, you just gotta try to overlook it lol. Plus most of the time the other benefits on her events are better than drawing a card anyway (though I know in multiplayer she can potentially gain all of those benefits at once).
      It’s crazy that she’s as strong as she is in solo just by doing the things you say, the things she can do all on her own. She must be an absolute monster in multiplayer

  • @SouzaNZ
    @SouzaNZ Рік тому

    I struggled when I tried her in protection solo going for Dauntless retaliate and mystic shenanigans. But I've had a lot of fun with her in leadership and I've beaten expert mid tier villains quite handily.
    The deck was focused around summoning spell and high cost allies and playing it multiple times with Superpowered adaptation. I use Adam Warlock to get mystic and Reinforced Suit and lots of lightning resources to use Adam's ability to heal for 3. Giant Man (MVP with heals from Adam), Beast, Snowguard, Nick Fury, Beta Ray Bill are the summoning spell targets. Getting two summoning spells off in one turn with Superpowered adaptation is great. She's strong enough with retaliate on the villain until your combos are ready. She gets free mystic when facing Hela, Ebony Maw and Spiral. Hela also let's her play godlike stamina with Asgard trait from Hela for cheap heals.

    Fun and interesting! Looking forward to seeing more videos like this! 👍😁
    I haven’t played MC since before Rogue and Gambit, we stopped after our 99:th game 😂 Since then we’ve played LotR LCG twice and I’ve played it solo 3-4 times. And it’s GREAT, I’m so happy I went along with trying it (it was just to be nice to my gaming friend really, though I love fantasy and the LotR movies, I’ve never been interested in games in that world). So I’ve bought EVERYTHING for the revised edition, including sleeves, and it got kind of expensive, but it was worth it. I will 100% continue buying everything for MC, bur for the foreseeable future I’m all about LotR 💪😁

      I’ve actually discontinued the 100 subscriber specials at 2000. I’m still gonna do those kinds of videos but I didn’t want to have to stick to a certain number anymore lol. I really need to get cracking on the multiverse stuff so I need my schedule to be more flexible. That’s a great idea for a video!
