Great video, an awesome quick look at all the little things that I think will make this wave so special. As a deck-builder, heroes aside, I absolutely love some of the deck-building cards we've seen so far. "Now I'm Mad" is so much fun and totally my style, and I have over a dozen decks planned already to test player side schemes with old heroes. When will I have the time to play them all? Not sure. But I can't wait to see how it all shakes out!

Agreed! They might be a little slow to be introducing new things into the game for some people’s tastes but you’re right that there’s so much potential for expanding the game’s range that I’m very hopeful they’ll continue to add layers as we go forward

I’m new to this game and boy oh boy… wedding bells! Already shares the throne in my collection with Mage Knight. Tons of material and more keeps coming… feels like Christmas came early this year!
Ooo Mage Knight. That was my favorite game for the longest time til LotR finally eclipsed it, and then Champions took over that spot. So Mage Knight is kinda like my grand-favorite game 😂

Just so you know I’m on a bit of a break at the moment since we just welcomed our second son into the world, so you won’t see any new videos for a little while but I’ve got a pretty big backlog at this point so hopefully I have some other things for you to enjoy until I get back to it! 😀
I expect Next Evolution to be the best campaign ever and the reason was pointed by you: Tony. He nailed it with MojoMania and everything we've seen so far as spoilers from the new content looks great. Combined with Caleb's creativity and the new type of card introduced (Player Side Quests), I could't be more hyped.
Same same same! I never ever thought I would be so ridiculously hyped for an xforce wave lol. Nothing against the characters, it’s just never been a focus of my fandom. But when the cards look fun it turns out I don’t care who’s names are on them 😂
Not only are there tons of top tier heroes/villains left, they also have the opportunity to add alternate versions of existing ones. Of course you have multiple people as the same hero (like for Spiderman, thor, and cap), but also multiple versions of the same AE.
A World War Hulk wave gives us the opportunity to see an alternate Hulk, and Hulkbuster Iron Man, there's symbiote Spidey (there's also one for Gwen, and others. They could just do a whole symbiote wave tbh), theirs X force versions of many X men, Phoenix Force versions of a bunch of characters. The list goes on. We will have good stuff coming for a very long time. I would not worry about ever running out of content
Agreed! There are so many different ways to go. I think as long as the heroes look fun then most people will be happy to play them, even if they do happen to have the same name as someone they already own.

It's safe to say that X-Men is the reason this is selling. MCU is on a downward spiral and the only chance this game has is to keep up with the comic book theme and expand away from the MCU like they're doing. Not to mention that the latest content has improved so much in terms of game design that I'd be shocked if they gave it all up after the product value behind Sinister Motives and Mutant Genesis.

Core Box heroes and villains are still among the best designs in the game: Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Klaw and Ultron have absolutely stood the test of time!
@@brandtsanderson4665 Captain Marvel is awful design. Half her cards are terrible and the rest & her abilities are OP. I mean she's my favourite hero but it's not because I like playing Crisis Interdiction. I never enjoyed Ironman but that's beside the point. Klaw is still fun and a good test bed for other modular sets and expert Ultron still has the best arc of any villain. I like Rhino too for ease of testing.
I think that until FFG will provide new mechanics and heroes / villains that are not a copy / paste (reskin) of the previous, the game will row without issues. For example: building armours. Ironman, Ironheart, War Machine, SP//dr. All different. Wolverine and X-23, similar but definitely different. Can't wait Next Evolution. Thanks for the video!
Great point! They’re doing an excellent job of taking similar themes/mechanics and tweaking them significantly enough to feel fresh and fun. Combine that was Tony’s fresh take on the game and they should hopefully be able to keep that up for quite some time!
@@GetUpandGame Also, definitely a nice surprise the aspect side schemes...Unless someone play a hero 2/3 times only and then wait for something new, thinking that there are enough contents for years and years of plays. Just changing aspect or modular set and feels near like a new scenario. I'm at 260 plays and I still need to unwrap some scenarios...

I’ve been lurking on Marvel Champions for quite a while now, and I’ve been patient to figure out if I really want to go all-in on this game, because I either don’t go in or I go all-in getting all expansions. So it’s quite a consequent investment to do, that’s why I prefer to take my time before to jump in, but from everything I watched already, it looks like Marvel Champions is the perfect LCG. It’s not impossible that between now and Christmas, I’m gonna make myself a nice gift and start collecting Marvel Champions boxes… even if it would stop right there, it would already be awesome with all possibilities and options out there… and yet, I do believe they will still keep milking the IP and release all new vilains and heros (as you mentioned in this video). So I’m not really worry about the future for this game. I’m a first time viewer and I really like your video, it’s an instant sub :)

And I think you’ve hit the nail on the head! It really is a perfect LCG in my opinion. So much variety in every element of the game: the heroes, the scenarios, the deck building. Something for everyone. Even if they never printed another card what we have now would be an incredible complete game.
But thankfully we know that isn’t going to happen 😉

Thank you for a great video and for being part of my excitement for the game returning. I had had a l dip in interest just like you and the game hardly made it to my table but thanks to X-23, Psylocke and Deadpool all arriving (finally and late) in the UK my interest and desire to play more games and build more decks is back.
I must admit I have owed Mojoverse since it game out in the Uk and never played it (too scared too) but th ask to this video it’s getting a run out with my well tuned Ironman Protection deck.

Great video! For someone who came into this game only last June (2022) and now has everything released to date, I confess this slowdown in release schedule has left me a little meh. I envy those of you who got into this from the beginning. Yes there were the delays due to the lockdowns but most people were getting a hero pack or something almost every month. Think back to 2021 there were TWO campaign boxes and heroes to go with it! Wow! Now it looks as if 2023 will be just one box, and then 4 hero packs (plus gambit and rogue in Feb). At the same time one could say it is encouraging for new players as a slower release schedule does seem less daunting if you want to get everything. Oh well. Just some thoughts. Thanks so much for the content, Josh!
Yeah, it’s understandable to feel let down by how things went this year. I’m sure they wouldn’t have chosen it either. And if I wasn’t so fully invested in it from a content creator side I’m sure I’d feel the exact same way 😔. And I even hate that it’s every 2 months now. I loved the once a month schedule
Hopefully once the cool new stuff comes out and they hopefully get back to the regular schedule then everyone will be very excited about it all again!

After playing the core set three times, i went out and bought everything and placed a preorder for everything coming. Haven't been so excited about a game for years. Have been playing for a month, still have over a dozen heroes to test out and haven't even moved form fighting Rhino yet.. I will be dead before the game is. Hoping for Johnny Blaze /Ghost Rider, Punisher, NIghtcrawler, Iceman, Beast and Winter Soldier...
WOW!! That’s incredible. I absolutely love that feeling of falling in love with a game. And what a game to do that with! So much content to explore at this point, and the vast majority of it being top quality. And you’ve only scratched the surface! Rhino is fun and all but wait til you see how different Ultron is and how mean Klaw is and how crazy Goblin can get ❤️

All the heroes this wave look amazing. Mojo was great and Next Evolution looks very promising. I’m highly anticipating Deadpool and Nightcrawler!

Me too for sure. Those 2 especially I’m dying to see how they translate into the game. Teleportation is such a cool power, and we’ve seen very little of it represented in the game so far. Both Pinpoint and Lockjaw play with the discard pile in some way so I’m hoping Nightcrawler has something similar. Cards that he can play out of the discard pile would be really cool
As for Deadpool, who even knows lol. Hopefully we find out this week or next but I can’t even begin to guess. It’s gonna be crazy whatever it is though 😆
I actually welcome the current slowdown. As a recentish new player (got the game last year and now own quite a lot of it) I have so much stuff to play I sometimes feel overwhelmed with the choices I have lol.
That’s a great point! I’m sure there’s lot of people who are somewhere in the middle of their Champions purchasing journey. Gives you time to “catch up” (not that you even need to of course lol)

I hope the decreased interest in the MCU (which I am still loving) doesn’t have a negative effect on sales.
I wonder if Deadpool announcement will be at GenCon? Or maybe they are so busy with GenCon prep that they just needed to wait? Either way, I’m excited for everything coming up.

I still love it too! I have started to tune out a lot of the negativity towards the MCU cause I’m starting to feel like a crazy person, still liking it as much as I always have when apparently it’s terrible now 😆. I’m not saying people are wrong who aren’t liking it but I just don’t see it lol. I’ve enjoyed everything they’ve put out!
I think the prevailing thought is Gen Con yeah. Maybe we get the Deadpool reveal and a teaser of the next box cover. Which is so crazy to think that we might know what the next next box is called before the next one even comes out 🤯
they need an upgrade pack for the base set. maybe some new tokens to replace status cards. maybe updated cards like spiderman web warrior. and some scenarios to make a campaign out of the base 3 villains. would buy it in a second.

I will say compared to other expandable games I think the core heroes and scenarios hold up remarkably well, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be cool to see something like what you suggested
There's still so much to potentially explore after we inevitably get Age of Apocalypse after Next Evolution.
I'm honestly worried about how I'm supposed to store all of the cards in the end haha

Man I’m dying to see that! Don’t get to the theatre much these days so I’m waiting very impatiently for it to come to streaming lol. That being said even without seeing the movie, yeah definitely want more spider stuff in the game. Plenty more great characters to feature!

Every time I think that I won’t be buying anything else for MC (I feel satisfied with what has released) something cool releases. Now that the X-Men are the main focus, I won’t be stopping anytime soon!
Also, I don’t follow MC when it comes to development but I’m glad that the change did not negatively effect the game. If you’re right, and I think you are, MC is going to be around for a very long time.
It’s true that the body of work for the game at this point could still easily make a centerpiece for any game collection. But when everything coming out for the game is still so good how can anyone stop?? 😅
Yeah it really worked out well. I’ve been through some games getting new designers where it didn’t work out so nicely and that was less fun. But every single thing we’ve seen and heard from Tony is all pointed in the right direction 😀

Is it really? Wow I had no idea. For all the games they drop it’s nice to see they do hold on to some of them 😅
The lack physical content is what concerns me. Look at the history of Champions releases, and you can see that this 6 month wait between Rogue/Gambit and Next Evolution is very unusual for the game. Plus, FFG has started DAGGER, which looks almost identical to Champions, even having the same heroes and villains. I'm worried that FFG is setting up DAGGER to replace Champions, or at the very least, that DAGGER is going to become their main Marvel focus. There's a ton of content that's still possible for Champions, so I get your point there, but it's also not unlike FFG to just up and quit on a product, it also happened to Seven Rings, much to my disappointment. Of course I would love for Champions to continue making content forever, but I have severe difficulty trusting FFG will keep it going after the extreme lack of content and long delays between announcements.
I hear you. We know that the long delay was due at least in large part to needing to replace Boggs and get Tony fully into the role. So as long as that doesn’t happen again anytime soon then hopefully we should be good for awhile!
And you’re right about them just dropping games, but on the positive side they kept LotR going for 10 years so I’m hoping we’re working with the version of FFG 😆
I don’t know much about DAGGER other then it sounds like it’s not for me, but I think the LCG’s tend to be much more consistent money makers so unless that behemoth really takes off then we should be ok on that front 🤞🤞

On the topic of future proof, there's no Deadpool. They could do a lot of 'fourth wall' like abilities and gimmicks with him. Big potential for Deadpool imo.

During an interview recently Tony and Caleb were asked what their favorite thing about the next wave was, and Caleb said Tony couldn’t answer that yet. I think it’s Deadpool 🤩🤩
Nah, this game isn't dead! However, one of my biggest gripes with the game is that it is just too difficult sometimes, even on "normal." For example, 2nd turn of playing Klaw, and he gets the Sonic Converter which auto-stuns me every turn, plus I have an Armored Guard with the guard trait and a tough card. So I've got THREE layers of defense to get through on turn 2 and I have no cards that can remove his auto-stun! I know the game is supposed to be a challenge, but the designers overdid it. Such a brutally unmerciful experience should be for an expert mode only. I'd like to say this is rare, but it's not. Too many times I've been brickwalled by compounding effects.
Yeah Klaw is deceptively difficult. In that he’s a lot harder than I think you might expect for the second villain in the core. He has so many incredibly annoying effects, like the stun attachment you just mentioned. Hate that card lol. You definitely want to be bringing cheap allies to block for you whenever possible against him
Thankfully there are quite a few villains that are easier, but unfortunately that means you have to buy more cards to get them so there’s also that 😅
If you think Psylocke will be amazing then, will you look to compare them head on to spider-women at some point down the line?
Oh interesting, I hadn’t really considered their similarities but I can see some for sure. They can both manipulate their stats, both have villain control. I tend to think of her more like sp//dr with the resources on the table and small hand size. But that’s an interesting idea, I’ll definitely keep that in mind! 😊
And I actually proxied up her cards and played her quite a bit when she was announced, and yeah she’s crazy good. I was crushing everyone lol. Being able to recycle Karma and get her back with Cerebro is absolutely insane

I believe MC has a TON of life left. So many characters are still on the table for development and the game sells well. They won’t pull the plug on a cash cow like MC until it’s been bled dry. Or they until they lose the license. If there’s dollars to be made FFG ain’t walking away.
Totally agree! I always look to what they accomplished with LotR, and long after all the key characters were used (multiple times in many cases) they were still producing awesome content for that game. And Marvel has exponentially more potential for content

Villains are always same,same mechanics,ive been running game since launch,got all packs,everything,game is not dead,just needs better mechanics,better villains
I can see what you’re saying. I think they walk a tight rope between trying to give us new things to fight without making them too complicated/too “out there”, but I’d be all for some truly different scenarios!
I think with Mojo we’re heading in the right direction at least, and scenario packs are the right place to do that kind of experimentation. I’d love for something like a Galactus or Arcade pack to have some really crazy mechanisms

@@GetUpandGame ye ive started lotr 2 weeks ago and been playing alot! I fell in love with marvel champions lcg on launch been playing crazy,got all expansions,packs name it i have it! But what they do with promo cards not allowing everyone to get them pushes me away from game,stale content and just the way they started to behave now! I didnt touch mc for over month now and i dont even have desire to try! Lotr gave me now much more fun then mc in longgggg time

are they going to fix what is broken... no... so unless you like X-Force your in for a long boring run of money just to get 1 or 2 cards... myself the game is getting a hard pass from now on and if I could find someone to give me a good price on my collection I would be more than happy to sell it to them...
You and I have always seen things pretty differently with the game so all I can say is I’m sorry to hear you feel that way! But I know you have a ton of other games you like so leaving one behind isn’t so bad ☺️
All I’ll say is I think they’ve done a great job with the new box. All the new scenarios are fun, and are actually on the easier side on standard meaning they are very accessible to even the less powerful heroes. So for anyone who does enjoy playing with the older heroes (as I’m doing right now with Drax) they will have no problem enjoying and winning the campaign
And the new heroes are all coming with cards that make older heroes better. Every time we get a new release it seems like at least one older hero suddenly finds themselves with an interesting new deck build. The player side schemes help everyone get better, and cards like Digging Deep have breathed new life into Ms Marvel and Iron Man, and Sharpshooter adds more damage to a Hawkeye deck.
This game is following the same path that made LotR so successful: continually pushing new boundaries while adding new player cards to support old archetypes.
@@GetUpandGame yeah we do see it differently... I keep trying to like the game but it has way to many problems for me to get over it... Adding 1 card to help a hero doesn't fix them, or even make them better... when you add 1 card to hawkeye that does damage which is exactly what he doesn't need that doesn't fix his problem... I did a better job of fixing him the other day with my 3 slight changes to him... and if I can do it then FFG should be able to... but they don't and that is why we see things differently... while you see FFG releasing new content, I see FFG releasing content that is more powerful then anything they had previously, while you FFG releasing content that helps old heroes, I see FFG not doing anything for the old heroes, while you see FFG adding new mechanisms to the game, I see FFG adding a huge powercreep that means you have to keep buying their crappy content just to keep up with 1 added card which does nothing to help.... I can't understand how 2 people could be more opposite then you and I on one thing...
Don’t invest into anything FFG makes expecting longevity/support. It has a loooong history of killing games

Going to say my only issue with the Psylocke pack is that the civilian card is Betsy Braddock, not Kwannon.
Yes, I know Betsy had that body for decades but, in the last few years, Kwannon has adopted the Psylocke name whilst Betsy is the new Captain Britain.
An Emma frost pack would be great.
But, for the Angel deck, if they give us a Candy southern card in there, you know Cerebro fans would play this game.
Well, that and a Selene card.
Yeah it’s been interesting to see what eras of X-men they’re choosing to pull from. So many different directions to go, it’ll be cool if they revisit different periods in certain characters careers (like Betsy)
Emma’s my number one hope for next cycle. I’ve always thought she was such a fascinating character 😀

Emma is the one I’d love to see the most.
Morrison wanted to use storm and colossus in new X men but couldn’t so they remembered that a generation x fan asked if Emma was getting used so he basically wrote so much for her that she’s one of the three x leaders, the others being Magneto and Charles, with an actual ethos.
For villains, two ideas I’d love would be either best villain couple, Mystique and Destiny, or Hellfire.
And Hellfire, let’s face it. We all want Selene.
People will continue to support it because there are way to many people who collect stuff... and because they keep coming out with new characters with better and more powerful abilities and powers.... as long as people think they can get more powerful characters to defeat the enemy they will keep buying it... higher stat numbers or better powers mean more sales... FFG is the king of this from the beginning.... and people keep buying it so why change.... but in the end it will turn into just like all of their other games -- a forgotten mess that is unplayable... sorry to say but history is already proven me right...

I can’t speak for anyone else, but for me I can say it’s not about getting stronger heroes at all. I don’t actually care that much about winning. I just really really enjoy having new experiences. Just like a tv show that keeps bringing new stories, I love that I can play a game like this and keep getting new ways to play it every month or two. That’s totally worth the money for me.
I played LotR for 10 years and that game consistently delivered a fun and balanced experience throughout, and now stands as a really solid, complete game. So I know some things don’t turn out well for them, but so far the co-op lcg’s have a really good track record so I’m happy to carry on with this one! 😀
@@GetUpandGame I'm like you and I like the experiences that the game gives me, that is why I follow you. I understand you and I can see what your saying... and I understand the big picture of the game... and while you see this as a bonus I see this as bad game design and a problem.
I don't have fun playing Hawkeye at all... very little fun is to be had at all... what do you tell those people that love Hawkeye? Oh sorry, your favorite hero is a newb in the game and you should play someone else... Nobody is going to have fun playing him and keep getting killed over and over again... You can only put him up again a few of the weaker villians... anything else and your "experience" isn't fun... Getting steam rolled time after time isn't fun for anyone...
What do you tell people about Hulk... the strongest hero in the game... who is a complete joke and is even outdone by she-hulk. I want the experience of putting Hulk vs Thanos just like in the movie... HA... it will end up just like in the movie a total beat down for Hulk... is that what you want? Is that good game play? When you can't play one hero vs any villian?
For me that is bad game design and completely takes away from the experience... My heroes are jokes... they can't do anything and they lose (most of the time) to the weakest villians... that is not fun and it gives players bad experiences...
You might not care if you win or not... and you might enjoy getting your hero killed over and over again without any hope of winning at all and that might be "fun" for you but its not for anyone else... Fun is believing in your hero that he can do some super cool things and have some super cool powers... NOPE.. you need to go play one of the good heroes... not the hero you want to play..
Oh and better yet if you want some of the good heroes that do all of the super fun things then you need to buy the stuff just coming out...
I'm not here to talk "down" about the game you love.. that isn't my point... the game is a flawed mess, and the game design that FFG uses is anti-consumer.... you as the consumer need to purchase ALL of the packs, ALL of the expansions, all of the updates so that you can get that 1-2 card that might help your super weak ass hero and gives that a tiny bit of power... so you think that Maybe, just maybe your super weak hero can take on a villain and not die in the first round...
Oh yeah you want all of the super cool new powers then you buy all of the new cards... its a trap... its been a trap and it continues to be a trap... and they continue to not support any of the original content, original heroes, and original gameplay....
Oh and BTW... this next group of heroes coming out will only be good and fun because they are new, have new powers, and new abilities and are BALANCED to be stronger then any/all of the original heroes...
If you want an experience of playing your weak ass, broken, can't do anything superhero against like 1 or 2 of the weak villians then this is a "great experience" for you... if you think that this games has 43 heroes that you can put up against 24 villains your out of your mind...
And not only that... your best and most beloved superheroes are some of the weakest and blandest heroes in the game.. Hawkeye, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow,... Want the experience of playing through the best movies in history of the avengers-- then I guess you can use Domino, and Cable and whichever else crappy hero they release this month... because you can't use the original heroes...

Same! I loved Nebula as a second take on Natasha, and it would be really cool to see what direction they take Yelena. Probably more aggressive, I’m assuming?
And Bucky’s just cool 😎. I’ll take however they want to bring him in 🦾
