I climbed (and descended) Coll de Rates on a recent trip to Spain in September, 2024 riding a 42-pound rental mountain bike and all I can say is I'm glad we weren't on the descent at the same time as it would have scared the crap out of me to have you fly by me, or maybe even cause you to hit the brakes and crash. What I find amazing is that, even as suicidally fast as you were going downhill, your 7:05 time was still 26 seconds slower than the Strava KOM, and only good for 149th place, out of the 55,610 riders who have done the descent on the Strava leaderboard. My descent time of 21:04 was almost dead last and good for 54,720th place, but my excuse was that I stopped at the viewing turnout just below the summit on the way down to admire the view.
Thank you Brian for the descent from Coll de Rates, I´m gonna climb it and descend it in 2 months when I´m on holidays in Spain Oh If we pay attention at around 8:50 those are the cars from the cyclist team we saw climbing up when Brian was speeding down 🚴
Crazy to me that I started watching these maybe a year ago and they looked terrifying, but I've now done longer descents myself with full confidence, though maybe not cornering so fast.
Wish my bike was geared better for climbing. Just did a 7 mile climb up a local mountain and got passed by a couple people just spinning to win and my 36 - 25 just ain't it. I can get up steep stuff but I spend half my time out of the saddle and the other half grinding in the 25 tooth until I inevitably have to kick it a few gears and stand back up again. I love the eleven speed Ultegra but another gear would be much appreciated some days. I would swap for a bigger rear cassette but the problem is most of my riding is on relatively flat rolling hills type of stuff where the single tooth transitions between gears is really nice for a smooth cadence. Can't have it all unfortunately.
Do you have toeover lap issues with the scott foil SAFA? what frame size are you using? and this is a different foil that your used to using, you have a black one?
*SAFA* : *"yah this is the first time down, so prolly just gonna be chill*" *Exits Parking Lot* *Immediately Stands up and sprints full gas into first corner* LOL what a G.
The name comes from "Raptes" which means kidnaping!!! valencian language and of course making reference to the past, when outlaws used to rule in this part of the "Alicantinian Alps"
Climbed 6,600 metres in 3 days shooting videos and the bros in the comments of their free videos giving me shit for not being able to climb... to be expected from the potatoes.
Beautiful video and incredible descending skills, but it's funny how you complain about cars taking more than their lane and cyclists cutting corners on ascent, when you yourself cut corners and cross the line constantly, even when going into fairly blind corners. I know what your channel is all about, but I think this style of descending should be reserved for closed roads and races. Not only do you put yourself into danger, but you endanger other cyclists and give us as a community a bad name.
I've recorded the same descent a month ago, yet it looks slower. I think it's the bike. Yes, definitely the bike.
😂😂😂😂
You need a Scott!
@@appetit2619 Agree, no way around it.
"Fast biker , shit bike"
😅😅😂😂
Love that he still gives the peace sign to other riders while going 60km/h
he is going fast but pretty sure those are bardiani riders on a camp
A man with complete confidence in his bike, brakes & tires !!!
and his reflexes
Another one of the famous SAFA downhills. Well done and impressive.
You are such an accomplished descender. Chapeau.
"I'm scared a cyclist might cut the corner" - *immediately cuts corner" 🤣
Sums up all the guy's videos tbh
That’s only an issue if they’re BOTH cutting corners 😂
Little bit different when you can see through the corner
@@SAFABrian I don’t disagree, just found it amusing 😂
Everytime you post a descent I’m reminded that this is what life is about.
Create, explore, expand and conquer.. Again great ride, SAFA!
Your videos always help me fall asleep at night! Something about them is therapeutic. Thanks 😁

I get my fill of descents watching these from a couch that is safe to faint onto. Eek.
The most famous climb in this planet!!!!! and I´m not kidding!!!! NICE VIDEO!!!!

42mph and still pushing...Goat of descents 😂...Respect ❤
that UAE rider looked quite impressed by your descending !
Good job! A friend had an "off" on that descent on a damp corner, glad yours were dry.
Crazy to me that I started watching these maybe a year ago and they looked terrifying, but I've now done longer descents myself with full confidence, though maybe not cornering so fast.
Lord oh mighty stop waving at other riders! My heart can’t take it haha. Scott bikes must be so pleased they’ve got this dude.
amazing bike bro
Hello. How did you mount your camera? On your chest?
if I was to record this descent, you would hear my free hub the entire time., as opposed to you cranking watts while flying downhill. mad respect

3:41 so smooth
Ciao safa, come fai a fare i video con tutti i campi sullo schermo, voglio provare anch'io su un segmento in salita. Grazie
How to use brakes while cornering like this?

Bro is actually crazy
Hey Safa !! What gloves do you use ? Thanks in advance ❤
What kind of helmet do you have?
What team are the blue riders??
It looks so hard the other way around climbing that mountain ouch 😅
What gloves are you wearing?
Where's the Millenium Falcon, er, your custom painted Scott?
bici molto bella ✌🏻
Safa I want to buy what you recommend SCOTT Addict RC Pro 2022 of OTT FOIL RC PRO 2023
*SAFA* : *"yah this is the first time down, so prolly just gonna be chill*"
*Exits Parking Lot*

LOL what a G.
i wonder the front rotor glow?
Always waving to other cyclists, not matter how fast he goes
Is it 69km/h his maximum speed?
We have a local paved descent that I've hit 40mph on my fatbike. I'd love to see what Brian and his rocket ship could do on it.
geez crowded climb that is
"Take it easy" 😳
Could you share an image how you mount your gimbal to your chest? thank you in advanced :D
he's better than pros :)
jealous !
Your Scott bike How much??$
You gonna attack the Sierra Nevada whilst in Spain?
Recorded the same descent 2 months ago, yet it looks faster. I think it's rim brakes.
Casually waving while going downhill at 37+ mph… 😁🫡🍻 #BadAssMan #InternationalEdition

Классное видео! ✌🚴♂️. Спасибо тебе, Сафа!
some hairpins out there are sketchy
also that day was barely anyone climbing up... this descent would be impossible on a sunday morning
Prominent 😊
I just don’t know how you do it. That speed
Came down the other side towards Tarbena one time into a recent rockfall #sketchy

Hey Safa, I think animations these below on metrics, it makes hard to watch. If you don't add that animations, could be better. Love your videos

hmmmm. Should I try to live in that part of the world? Or just visit sometimes?
scary thumbnail
you pedal where I was braking
It,s look like a little crazy, but very skillful.
close to 70 mph
3:25 i mean brother you literally ride in their lane
Just casually waving to other cyclists while doing almost 70 down hill.
too many riders, huh? Try Polish south border. Almost no cars out there
You didn’t go up first?! Breach of road code…
They drive up now.
He'd probably get his doors blown off halfway up the climb. That's why all he does is descents
There’s a Strava link, looks like he climbed the other side
