Alec, lovely pod again. Balanced personal review from you, I watched Collums VAR review and I must admit was refreshing to hear his full debrief of that bad decision. Listen, as a staunch supporter of the Famous, this was a mistake and I understand this fully. As a retired Fire Service Officer I made mistakes and sometimes was ‘kicked’ by my bosses. Some of these ‘mistakes’ was sore to take but the reflection made me a better Fire Officer going forward. I do remember how I felt after these events so I do feel some sympathy for the VAR team., especially how they are feeling after the event. I only hope this ‘bad mistake’ makes the official environment better, going forward. Painful loss for the Gers on Sunday and boy did I feel it but to blame our defeat on this mistake is plainly wrong. This situation just adds vitriol to the back and fore crap between the supporters (some of which I read here). This event had nothing to do with supposed referee allegiances, it was just a bad mistake hopefully 🙏 being followed up by future improvements. My only personal grievance is mistakes in the past we’re not reviewed in full view, this has now changed and I welcome Willie Collums ‘open’ debriefs with attached Official communications on the park. Sorry Eck, long rant over !! PS nothing worse than being judged by your ‘Peers’ especially in full public view.

That's it - there's never going to be any end to the debating of decisions by refs and I fear yesterday's admission by Collum may be a rare moment of clarity because Celtic and, as we can see even in some of the replies here, some of their fans will rush to misinterpret that clarity - just as some of our fans think it doesn't go far enough - and, before long, the monthly VAR Show on UA-cam will become a front line war for claiming the SFA is out to get "them" more than it is "us".
It'll probably just add another layer to the tediousness.

Unfortunate that you'd find it embarrassing that Rangers fans would want foreign refs Eck and i could give you a catalogue of reasons why. I don't have to though because you've done a brilliant job for me in this pod. Here's the thing, wee wullie has done a brilliant job of flinging his var boys under the bus and has shown surprising transparency in doing it. The problem is what if the next five old firm games see a blatent punch of the ball out of the park followed by a perfectly good headed goal being chalked of despite the celtic player throwing himself to the ground followed by Rangers losing a fine Roofe goal because of an imaginary foul followed by Rangers losing a cup final despite foul on Raskin by Taylor or Rangers losing a cup final while the scorer and two others were offside, the later can't happen you say ,thats why var was brought in you say ,well Sunday was as bad a decision yet var missed it despite it being their only job and despite having an 18 yard line to assist them . I'm pretty sure we'd soon tire of wullies transparency if it was always followed by an apology for yet another kick in the stones for Rangers I'm a rational 61 year old bear and my only question is how many trophies will Rangers surrender untill the inevitable foreign refs are appointed. It's undeniable unconscious bias is in EVERY old firm fan and that's why we need neutrals howeverbad it looks. Oh and last thing for your celtic fans the late Bob Crampsey wrote an article in early 2000's where he forensically scoured the record books to discover that despite over a century of masonic influences celtic had less yellow cards, less red cards and more penalties than Rangers ,strange that and doesn’t support a century of paranoia. Rant over, although a long post seems at home on the Eck pod 😂

I have to be honest and say i have a lot of Celtic friends getting in touch with me this week telling me to just chill, take it on the chin and move on. which, apart from the screaming hypocrisy, is in itself, is a mischaracterisation because I'm not getting involved in petty jealousies, am I.
I'm actually explaining the ways in which the penalty we didn't get on Sunday may not necessarily have won us the league cup final and I'm generally sticking up for referees and the need to realise a million small decisions per game could have gone the other way.
The only reason I'm talking about this is because the head of refereeing in Scotland has brought out a video admitting two of his officials made a horrific mistake in a game my team lost by the narrowest of margins. If I ignore that I'd be as well ignoring football altogether, wouldn't I.
But quite happy for you to pass this "who cares - move on" attitude to your club's manager and chairman next time Celtic lose.

At no point in this pod have I said Rangers would definitely have won the game if we'd been awarded that penalty. And I point out there will inevitably be moments where Celtic could have done things better or got decisions in other areas of the pitch which would have let them win the game in 90 or 120 minutes.
But your need to characterise that 4-on-1 chance as being the key moment is very telling. Perhaps a good example of twisting things but also revealing a desire to shut down and move on from an incident of rank incompetence which is, surely, a matter of concern for fans of all clubs.
Celtic are the system right now and it's good to see them get even a tiny hint of a taste of what the rest of us had to live through for decades whenever we beat Celtic - having the legitimacy of your victory questioned.

    'The SFA denied Rangers a trophy .. ' 🤔🤔🤔
No they didn't, Eck. The SFA cravenly surrendered to the Rangers narrative that they were 'denied' a penalty. The official reason from their fans beforehand was that Cerni's foot was on the line and therefore that meant it was a penalty. Apparently toenails had suddenly become acceptable again at Ibrox. Collum, hopelessly confused by the whole thing, said the foot on the line was 'irrelevant' then went on to say that part of Cerni's body was on the line, or even, shock horror, over it, therefore a penalty should have been given. Presumably Cerni's foot is also part of his body or maybe my understanding of the human anatomy requires some revision. During the incident not a single Rangers player, including Cerni himself, appeared to claim for a penalty. Rangers were awarded a free-kick just outside the box which seemed an obvious decision at the time. Even in the VAR room it clearly seemed to be so. It was only after the game when stills were produced that it appeared that a small part of Cerni's body, admittedly somewhat larger than a toenail, had crossed the line. So on another day if the VAR officials had had their magnifying glasses to hand Rangers might indeed have got their penalty. It is also fair to add that on another day Rangers might also have had two players sent off, one for a second yellow and the other for a dangerous tackle. No discussion on these whatsoever. So the idea that the losing side, deservedly so on the run of play and ultimate penalty shoot out, were denied the trophy due to a gross conspiracy by the authorities or some terrible injustice is, frankly, the stuff of pure paranoia. This latest SFA farce has set a very bad precedent and I do hope other clubs, including Celtic, are not tempted to go down a similar route the next time they feel aggrieved as that will result in chaos all round and will be disastrous for the game which we all profess to love.

@@gezobel thanks for listening to my pod, mate. Your reaction is beautifully deranged - I do not think the SFA denied us a trophy and, in fact, point out that Rangers can also be said to have denied ourselves the trophy by some of our slack play - so I hope your reply is a wee joke, or an exercise in assertion without evidence and outrageously weighted inferences, intended to very kindly prove the point I make in the pod about same.
Most of the arguments you address here seem to be arguments you've made up yourself. I'm just referring to today's SFA admission of the blatant mistake the VAR officials made at the start of extra time on Sunday. All you're doing is showing how that admission, of a mistake which cannot be rectified and which can't - and shouldn't - change the result of Sunday's final, seems to be terrifying one fan of a club that's won five trebles, a double and The Double in the last eight seasons.

And shouldn’t. Who cares. If rangers were the better team then enjoy that. Fuck refs. Fuck rules. Let’s care about footbal and yer team have been really good as far as I can see. Football is art and awards in art are interesting but not the end game. Practising your art in the most honest way is the end game.

Okay then, it really must be me .. I'm 'deranged' ... I've had much worse insults even from some Celtic fans, believe me. 😁.
I shall listen to your pod again to discover exactly what I misunderstood .. I have a full morning free and I always enjoy your offerings anyway. These are quite unique in football circles as far as I can see.
Not sure I made up anything at all though the introduction of toenails into my post was meant as a bit of a naughty joke, tbh, but, as apologies to Rangers and their fans now seem to be the general order of the day, many apologies for that. offence which disgracefully went unnoticed by any VAR officials on here.😊
      Best Wishes, Alec!

@@kianmcclure9528refs and rules are football, Kian. They're the rhyme scheme, the picture frame, the constraints of the stage. The art only counts if it happens within the designated parameters which deem it art in the first place. There's a reason some ball-jugglers are half-time entertainers who never play professional football and why some are Maradona - the ones who can do it within the rules of the game, albeit they'll push those boundaries to their limit, are the true artists. No refs is no paint, no costumes, no celluloid - no art.

@@gezobelno, your POST is deranged - not yourself - and I said it was BEAUTIFULLY deranged so, again, Gezobel, you're showing a determination to misinterpret, while also a determination to be a gent: who could have a problem with that. Not I, as Samuel Beckett said: Not I😅❤
