  • The Oasis legend & High Flying Bird treats Dan & Mick to some epic sounds and stories!
Welcome to the show! Yes, It finally happened!
Noel Gallagher’s contribution to popular music cannot be understated. The multi platinum selling, endless award winning, mayhem causing, genre defining, monumental rock creating living leg-end has penned the soundtrack to literally millions of lives over the last two decades. For that we salute and thank him.
Today however, he pauses being a global superstar for about 1hr and 50 mins, to sit down and talk guitars, amps and pedals. Noel and his team kindly invited us to his studio in London where we got the chance to see some classic instruments and hear them at full-bore! We’ve never seen Noel open up like this about guitars and tones before, so please grab a beverage of your choosing and enjoy the chat.
Needless to say, we are incredibly grateful to everyone who helped make this happen, especially Mick, Noel's tech and Callum in the control room. Big thanks too to our old mucker Simon who made sure we were on point with the visuals. It’s a day we’ll never forget, thank you!

You can find hundreds and thousands of Noel interviews from over the years. But, this one is what I'd consider to be Archival quality. Something that could be watched in 50 years or put in a R&R museum for future generations to understand the place and time. It is an amazing capture.

@@LolTollhurst Now that’s one that strains the heartstrings.
I think it was early summer 2021 when, out of a clear blue sky, I heard the unmistakable sound of a Merlin engine at a decent throttle. I leapt onto a picnic table and blazed away with a phone camera. Checking the pictures and zooming in, I could see the iconic wingtip shape of a Spitfire.
I then lived in Kent, near where many scratch RAF grass airstrips were based, the closest being Bekesbourne.
Thinking about those courageous young men and where we now are, under covid tyranny, I wept.

I'm guessing it might be that he's always been asked about song writing and his band stories. I dont remember him being featured in guitar magazines in the 90s much. I've read his opinions on semi-hollw guitars and how Johnny Marr gave him a Les Paul when he was starting out as part of some general Oasis interview, but he had to be steered away to other topics eventually.

Unfortunately, I've got the impression that Noel underrates his lead playing and has tendency to play less and less solos in the future. His solos are very melodic and creative. I love them.

I think Noel has simply accepted that he has already achieved everything he wanted, he has stopped practicing solos and that is shown in certain errors that have recently come to light in videos of his concerts, I think that because of his age we should simply be grateful that he's still up to be what he is

This is without doubt the best Noel interview I've seen. No persona BS, great Q's and some absolute gold insights from the man himself.
Thanks to all involved and a special thanks to Noel! Life wouldn't have been the same without your musicianship 🙌😎

Probably one of the best interviews of any musician I have seen recently. Noel in particular can be a tough interview. If he’s not engaged or feels there is no thought in the interview, he can get snarky and abrasive, a bit like John Lydon. Seeing him reminisce and geek out with such enthusiasm is a testament to you guys. Thanks so much for a singularly enjoyable 2 hours.

His stories, sincerity, and humility made for such a great hangout and interview! What a show to have under the belt Dan & Mick, one of the best interviews I've ever seen. Very memorable! 👏

We can think whatever we want about Oasis but it is hard to deny this guys have written a piece of music history. Back in the days, I was madly fan of britpop music with incredible bands such as Supergrass, Pulp, Radiohead, Suede, Elastica... and of course Blur and Oasis. This episode is much more than a perfect interview of Noel, it is like a time machine bringing us back to these golden years of f*****g good music! Thank you Noel and thank you TPS for making it happen! ❤

There’s a UA-cam video about Vox history where the guy (obviously a bid fan) interviews Brian May. When Brian demonstrates how he gets the solo sound for Rhapsody by cranking the amp the guys turned to the camera and his face just says “toddling off to Heaven”. There were moments here a bit like that.

"some of the best concerts I ever played were in my bedroom" - thanks for inspiring so many of us to do the same, Noel. I had many a concert in front of the mirror in my middle school / high school days before I got to play on stages, and I would play through What's The Story? Morning Glory for hours up hours. I love the humility of Noel knowing that while he is not the best guitarist, he is an iconic one, and more importantly a great songwriting guitar player who understand melody more than most. I can't agree more with him when he says there are plenty of guys playing flashy stuff with zero substance and no hooks - they will NEVER be remembered. Noel will never be forgotten comparatively...I still can't believe part of his early great sounds was a Marshall Valvestate with only a 12AX7 in it! From the bedroom to the stage indeed.
