      Would you recommend this for a small building that has 3 sinks, 2 are in restrooms, and 1 sink is behind the Bar for rinsing glasses and maybe utensils? I just want to be able to use this with all three sinks working at once.

    • @TheConjurersTower
      @TheConjurersTower 2 роки тому

      @@ericperry72 I'm afraid I can't recommend something like this for such a large volume of water unless you wanted to put one on each sink, and then again it depends on the input temperature of your water (from a well, municipal source, or large cistern). I ultimately went with a cheap Chinese propane on-demand water heater ($120 on Ebay at the time) for my place where I only use one tap at a time and it's barely enough. In the winter time (in upstate NY) the water is warm, not hot, I draw from an artesian well that gets as close to freezing as it can without actually freezing. The manufacturer 'claims' the heater I have puts out 36kw of heat (I have my doubts), the device in this video claims to put out 3kw of heat, but it's my understanding that it's illegal for consumer electronic devices to draw more than 15 amps from a standard outlet, at 110 volts 15 amps only makes 1.65kw. I don't know your position, but I would be very skeptical of these things except in the most desperate of circumstances. Peace brother.

    Thank you, I am a recent widow and my husband (God rest his soul), was the "handy" man and I freaked out when the HUGE water heater was corroded and broke (obviously). I saw this online same as yours except mine is red. That is my favorite color. And I followed your steps and thank you God Bless you. I can take a shower and then make way for a plumber to come and finish up the new water heater I installed, but it leaks, due to a copper pipe with a slight hole. This will work! Thanks again

    Thanks Anthony. I am about to install this heater into my RV system. The existing 6 gal water heater gives you just enough hot water to have a very efficient shower at a brisk pace with no time to kick back and enjoy. So my idea is to put this inline just before the existing heater as a supplemental source of heat. If I can preheat the water before it enters the propane fired heater it should, significantly increase the duration of useful hot water supply while also decreasing propane consumption. For practicality I can already anticipate having to limit the power consumption to about half the rated current draw of 32amps. It's going to have to be 15amps or less to be practical, and since this will only act as a booster in the system the decreased heating capacity should be acceptable and it won't be tripping breakers. If I can achieve this goal, I think it will be a great way to affordably boost an RV hot water system from utility purpose to comfortability! I am willing to go pretty deep to make this work, even if I have to open it up and replace the micro controller with an Arduino type MC and write entirely new code for the device. But let's hope for simplicity and minimal modification. Stay tuned, I will post the results in detail...

    The main reason this unit sets off the fuse is the amps. The unit pulls a 25 amp. It is suggested to check your wire type being used as 10 gauge wire is needed.
    The fuse should be a 25-30 amp. If you have this its less likely to be set off. The load is causing the fuse to set off.
    Good video over all.

      What’s odd is the 125V 15A plug and 2.5mm^2 wire which isn’t even rated to AWG 12!🤣
      Hopefully no one runs this for very long or worse… just “sizes up the breaker”😱
      I’m wondering if they used the wrong voltage (should be 250V single phase🤷‍♂️)

  • @jamesrougeau
    @jamesrougeau 4 роки тому +7

    Excellent video amen.
    I work in electrical and you'll need orange 30(10 awg/guage) amp wiring(yellow 20 amp wire may survive) but if the breaker is 30 then everything else should be rated for 30 amps if possible for that unit and a 30 amp breaker and maybe bump up the receptacle at minimum to 20 amp. The receptacle will still be the weakest link but since the heater is made with a 110/120 volt plug it should fix the breaker tripping issue. But make sure your service wire being 100amps or 200 amps that you don't overload the entire breaker box load etc.
    I may buy one like yours as well for my RV. Thanks for sharing amen!

    Clever idea of how to demonstrate but I'd like to add some reasons I'm returning mine I just bought.
    First the specs shown in seller's sites was lacking expected operation description like does it have and try to maintain a temperature setpoint up to a max flow? And what is the temp vs flow curve so you can see if it would would work for one''s intended use. Anthony could have given us an idea of this though by flowing different rates and measuring temperature reached. and as far as the circuit tripping problems, 3000 watts is a lot to do on a standard outlet circuit since most are 15 or 20 max. thats why electric heaters are usually 1500 watts. And to change an existing ouitlet to 30amps you could change the associated breaker but existing wire is likely 14 or 12 guage max and 30amps requires 10guage. But I went ahead and bought one hoping i could make work. I found that the info it came with was also lacking but it showed that there are 4 diffferent models for 2 different wattages and 2 are for 220v which would be the best choice if one had that available, which I do but table doesn't show model number and I can't find any other model searching anyway.

    VERY IMPORTANT! I feel the need to reiterate some comments already made about this unit but this unit is rated for 3000 Watts @ 120 VAC. A derivation of the power formula is Watts/Voltage = Amperage (3000watts/120Volts = 25amps). This means that the unit is rated to draw ***25 amps***. The issue is that the plug and wire that it comes with is 14 gauge wire and only rated for about 15 amps (generally speaking). This unit is a problem waiting to happen if your breaker doesn't trip first.
    Bonus Information: I've measured the current draw on this unit and it was closer to 30amps at full load (about 3500 watts).

    • @Freshbrood
      @Freshbrood 3 роки тому +2

      I've often found this similar issue in products from outside the U.S. I paid an extra $15 to replace and wire thicker gauge plugs in them from the local hardware store. Worth it for safety. Always add at least another $20 on these things for replacement parts.. But still cheap and minimal effort.

      3k watts from a standard residential 120V outlet? That's insane!

    • @briannemec9214
      @briannemec9214 2 роки тому +2

      @@Freshbrood The wire from the fuse box to the outlet is probably too small for this current. The wire from the machine to the outlet is the least of the problem. There is a good chance the outlet is only rated for 15 or 20 amps. And if the screw connecting the wire to the outlet is not tight Possible sparking and a lot of heat generated. I have seen two cases of this. One case the fire dept. was called. The other the smell gave it away.

    Just had my first no no leak shower from installing mine at the shower. Very very nice. Been taking cold shower now 8 months and being January finally no longer have to pretend to love cold showers. They are exhilarating but you can get cleaner and fresher in warm water. I used a big braud shower head and did all the plumbing external to the shower but starting at the shower head and back to the detachable hand held showerhead. When you turn it on with low pressure it's nice and warm and its warm enough to enjoy. If you want a full blast how shower you need a larger unit will likely be 240v which might complicate your immediate installation. But I'm super happy as is my wife. But remember if you need full force and really hot water you need another more powerful model but otherwise thusvus perfectly comfortable and very economical. Both in being 1/3 or 1/4 price of a standard heater but also in economy of electricity and water. However I needed liquid teflon and needed an expensive crimp/pinch clamp pliers to keep the leaks away. So basically I built it once with leaks and a second time perfect. The trick was the right tool. The flexible 1/2 inch pvd was a nice trick. Home depot had more of what I needed over lowes but one lowes had the $15.00 ineffective pliers and I missed buying and later lowes had the $65.00 pliers.

    Thanks for the inspiration, Anthony! I had that thing in the house where I moved in over 6 months ago that didn't seem to work. The green light was on when plugged in, so power was fine, but no hot water coming out of it. The landlord, when asked, was clueless. A few minutes into your video, when you mentioned that the heater needed to be installed vertically, I had the thought that the two hoses might had been connected reversely and that the water not flowing in the right direction could be the problem. Two minutes later, the light turned red for the first time and I had hot water coming out of that thing. 🤓 Not sure how your video ends but it has been of great help for me to solve that little mystery. Thanks! :-)

    3000 Watts from one outlet? You'd need to plug it into an electric dryer supply outlet using the right adapter or a generator and HOPE it's internal wiring can handle that power. SO MANY people don't even think about the math regarding electrical draw. They let power bars lay flat on the floor face up (collecting flammable dust), try to use 10 Amp 100 foot long Walmart extension cords to power electric chain saws and log splitters, etc...

    I installed this heater on the cold water supply to my whirlpool bath tub to lessen the amount of hot water needed from my tank style hot water heater. Worked great for a month or so filling tub maybe 6 times. Now heater powers on when faucet is turned on, can hear a relay or similar click and LED turns red but water temp does not change. Heater element is probably burnt out already. This is a very cheap heater, i do not recommend. Also I have mine hard plumbed into cold water supply not temp hose screwed to it. My only hope now is that it doesn't develop an internal leak or I will have to remove it totally and pitch it

    Nicely done video just a couple of quick questions. I would like to use mine in the shower as well. It takes about two minutes for the water to get hot because my shower is a long way from my water heater. So my plan is to hook the cold water inlet to my hot water, line and the hot water outlet to my showerhead there by eliminating the wait time what do you think. However, after listening to the very end of your video, I think I need one with a little more kick like 5 to 8000 W. Which is about as high as I can go with 120 V hook up.

    I use one of these for my parts washer out in the shop...works great, only problem is that it doesn't regulate the temperature whatsoever, ie. the hotter the water gets in the tank the hotter the water that gets put out...not a big deal until it starts to reach about 140f. I ended up putting a motor speed controller on it and it works amazing now.

    I just received this mini tankless water heater today for the purpose of a small sink, but what baffles me is that for 3000w 110v, why is the wire 14 gauge with nema 5-15 plug? 14 gauge can only support up to 1800w, not 3000w unless it's 240v. So, maybe I should try hooking this up with a 240v circuit to see what will happen? Would it use 3000w, but half the amp, or would it use 6000w? 240v would be the only thing that makes sense giving this weird configuration.

      Ever figure it out? I want to put in a new breaker and run wire, but I’m not sure I can get away with 14 gauge wire.

    Thank you for this video. I was just looking at the mini tank on Amazon! Do you need to run cold water first before you plug it in every time you want to have hot water?

    • @joewithers7396
      @joewithers7396 3 роки тому +1

      Not if you Install a check valve or have a cut off valve COLD side to keep the water in the unit.

  • @jeffmurnahan

    Do you have to go through those steps every single time you use the shower? Or is that just the steps to initially set it up? Because I’d hate to have to run cold water first every time I use it or unplug it after every use

    Did they ground the outlet? So that an RCD can trip if the water goes live.. I'd get a plug in RCD, (and very carefully) make the water live for a moment (stay well away from the water flow, use a wooden rod, and have someone ready to disconnect it incase shit goes wrong) to make sure it is grounded. If not, then I wouldn't use it.

    Thank you for this video do you think this would work being connected directly to an outdoor hose? Just to be able to get lukewarm water? I want to connect something like this so that when I wash my dogs outside I can have water that isn't freezing in the winter time. Really appreciate the video!

    It will trip your electric, that will be a 3kw to 5.5 kw heater which is 3000 or 5500 watts which will need it's own separate trip switch and 2.5mm cable to the appliance

    • @ALAH31983

      This video is just a review not an installation video.
      There are instructions and hardware that come with the unit.
      It's an electric hot water heater so that black wire is the electrical connection also known as the plug that you would plug into an electrical outlet.
      As far as mounting the unit there are 2 holes top and bottom so 2 screws would be needed and they did come with the unit.
