    This was an exact replacement for the old one that lasted about 10 years. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx7yWIKcrbA9KMHkGSfcgxW2lsjHT6B8Sh The top of my mitigation tube by my roofline was just a 90 elbow which allowed too much debris to fall down into the fan, eventually ruining it. Without this issue, I bet it would have kept running another 10 years. When I replaced this fan, I added an extra elbow joint so the top tube now it does a 180, which should solve that problem. The radon guys around here wanted to charge me a $300 diagnostic fee, then parts/labor (probably close to $600 total). I installed this all by myself in about an hour for the cost of the fan; it would probably be even easier/faster with two people. FYI the manufacturer's warranty greatly differs depending on whether you install it yourself (1 yr warranty) or have a licensed installer do it (10 yrs).

    A critical step that is missing is letting the water heater fill up with water before plugging it in. You would need to open the hot water faucet and let all of the air come out before powering on the unit.

      Not necessary. Do your homework before you spout out misinformed comments. This unit has a cutoff that triggers if there is no water, so no matter when you fill it the electrical will NOT start trying to heat water if there is none.

    My primary concern is the flood that will inevitably happen when the tank eventually leaks. Probably right after the 4 or 6 year warranty period. No catch pan or drain. I would want a way to have a catch pan with drain to the outside......BTW.....This video was from Michael Holigan's "Your New House" which aired until 2007. "Super Handyman" Al Carrell aka Albert Raymond Carrell (September 2, 1925 - August 27, 2014) was an American author, columnist, TV and radio personality. He was a popular home construction/improvement expert. Carrell's column ran in over 250 newspapers in the U.S. RIP, Mr. Carrell.

    One thing that is never addressed is electricity and current draw of these little heaters. A typical small unit is usually rated around 1500 watts which is around 13 Amps. In this video it looks like he plugged in the water heater in the same outlet that the garbage disposal is connected to which also pulls anywhere from 3-10 Amps. So it would seem if you turn the garbage disposal on when the water heater is active, you'll blow the breaker (assuming a 20amp breaker).
    So my question is, does this blow the breaker?

      I agree you could not run the dishwasher at the same time as the water heater, most likely on the same circuit. as it would be too much for a 20 amp breaker.

    • @picenze
      @picenze 3 роки тому +5

      @@samdeir it's saving electricity (or gas) as well. If you want hot water from your big heater you have to run the water for 30 seconds (or 2.5 gallons) of cold water before you get any hot water. What that means is you are wasting whatever amount of energy it takes to heat up 2.5 gallons. The saving in energy may actually be more than that of water.

    Great video, question my titan hot water was already installed and it doesn't just plug in to an outlet it's hard wired in a junction box. Right now it doesn't have water to it. Its making an awful buzzing noise. I thought if I disconnected all power it would stop, but it hasn't. The juntion box has a white wire on the top and bottom of the juntion box. Its not the electrical in put or out put. I've disconnected all electrical wires capped and taped the wire nuts on. It's still buzzing, it's the two white wires, do I just pull them out.?

    There are many videos on POU heaters but they all draw from the COLD water source. I have a very capable whole house tankless. The problem is that it takes 1.5 minutes to get hot water to the sink/dishwasher. Is there unit that draws from the HOT water source which would instantly deliver hot water for 1.5 minutes or until the whole house system kicks in. If not, what happens if you install a tankless POU unit to the HOT water supply?

      I have a high efficiency Honeywell water heater that has no pilot light. The cost of it's operation is next to nothing, and I don't have multiple heating units taking up space at every sink and bath. Not to mention I didn't have to run gas or 240V power anywhere, as you would with tankless designs.

      Yes, but it still relies off having a hot water feed on the inlet to this heater. One very important point missing from this video is that this heater is only designed to give you about two gallons of hot water, which should be just enough flow for the hot water from your regular water heater to reach you.
