This was a really awesome breakdown. I was able to see some similarities with Disc Creatures and the game I am currently building. The similarities are not intentional, I was honestly shocked. The good thing is that the games will still be very different and unique from each other.
Thanks for the amazing video. Disc Creatures is CRIMINALLY underrated, and I think its deliberately cutesy vibe actually leads to people missing how well-written and heartfelt it is.
Nice video. I think "bridging the gap" may be a mistranslation. I think the implication is that is was supposed to foster a mutual respect by giving the once powerless humans power - but now humans and creatures just fight more fiercely instead of avoiding eachother. The Doc was trying to return the world to the previous dynamic where creatures held the power and man was rightfully afraid of them. Seemingly he's rather humanity be victims than tyrants. It's fitting that an underrated game is covered by an underrated reviewer
Your editing and presentation are great, especially for a first video! With quality like this, I'm sure the algorithm will pick you up in no time. Best of luck with the channel!
I randomly found this game last night on Steam during the TGS sale, and was immediately interested in it because of the early Pokemon R/B/Y/G influence. Nostalgia kicked in strong and I bought the game shortly after. Curious about it, since Disc Creaturrs seemed like an obscure indie with not many people talking about it, I decided to look for information on UA-cam and found your video! I haven't played Disc Creatures or watched the full video yet (stopped at the spoiler warning) however, I can tell I will have a great experience going through both. The first three minutes of your analysis is already insanely high quality. Very shocked to see you only have 22 (now 23 btw!) subscribers at the time of watching this. I know creating UA-cam content is a lot of work and can become demoralizing pretty quick, so I thought I'd just leave this comment here! =)
This is a very good video, I've recently been playing DC a lot and I had a few points I wanted to make, in no particular order: Money is definitely very tight in the early game but it's actually the 999 pico cap that was causing me trouble. I figured out that discs from the Jeggs in Mond Tunnel sold for 300 pico each and are relatively easy to get a lot of, and it makes HiPer memory much more effective since the cost isn't an issue anymore Im glad I wasn't the only one that thought the ending was a bit of an ass-pull. I was disappointed that the main story ended on a twist villain whose motivations were explained 2 minutes ago at that point. The starters are fairly above-average from what I could tell. Istarted with Flamorb, Bladeguin and Crenaton. Apart from swapping Bladeguin for Darklops when I got to Jugglan Woods, I never had to change my team after that (besides getting the Tomadar). Crenaton is suprisingly bulky and it's ability lets it take quite a beating, while Flamorb is pretty solid overall other than a lack of coverage.
That's good to know! Jeggs were always rare encounters in my experience, so I only used them for necessary fusions. But 300 Pico is pretty good, damn. Also, yeah, you're right about the starters being above average (at least compared to the earlygame creatures available) I brought Bladeguin to the Mond Ruins out of necessity for another water type, and it was there I really felt it lagging behind. Obviously of course Mond Ruins is pretty far in.
I completed Disc Creatures and I can say I enjoyed thouroughly the experience, although I had to do a bit of research on my own to register all the creatures and battle mechanics, if quite interesting, could have been given some more space for depth, despite the post-game facility. This game is filled with such a unique charm and this review makes a wonderful job by highlighting every aspect of it. I hope this game picks up some more love, as it's the best alternative I've found to a Pokémon-game experience, by graphic style, world building and gameplay. Looking forward for the remake and more of your content!
Five on main story (each one opens a new area from the starting home and have a reasonable length), plus one for closure and another one for post-game (with some more exploration and back-tracking). Give it a play, I think the review already says more than what I want to put here, it's a gem of a game!
I don’t know what I did to make the algorithmic gods shine upon me and recommend me a video with less than 2k views but I’m really glad they did.

@@tamerhadal yeah I thought bladeguin was pretty underwhelming which is why it got the boot early from my team but the rest seemed pretty good
Love that game and your video about it! Really good for your first long-form video essay.
Awesome review! I'm gonna have to pick this bad boy up.
Great review, i watched all your videos and hope you will continue making them!
if you might not know; magic is psychic.

How many episodes are in disc creatures?

Thanks for the quick reply! I just finished up Episode 2 yesterday and I wanted to have an idea of how much more I was in for.
