- No longer "Little" Stevie Wonder, he delivered two man-sized hits in 1966. He performs them here in this clip, "Uptight" and "A Place In the Sun" (which was so popular that he was asked to perform it on Italian television " il sole è di tutti " another great version which can be seen here on this site.
HE WAS JUST 16 YEARS OLD!!
Talented beyond belief. Brilliant
Brilliant song performed by an legend
1:47 :)
I think he was about the right age to sing this song.
And people Hype Up that Angelina girl 😂. This is a real singer and talent. Stevie wonder is amazing what a stud even as a kid. I am 29 years saying this and we don’t have singers like this. He sounds like a man at 16 with a huge range and smooth voice 🔥🔥
Stevie was only 16 during this time but you could hear his older voice maturing
Jason Voorhees Yep! Same age Michael’s voice was maturing as well.
I remember seeing Stevie at this age, on TV, when I was 11 or 12.
His humor and positive light is beautiful, we need more of this today.
I remember seeing him at the Fox in Detroit They had people around him because he would fall off the stage if they were not 1966 I was one of 4 white people there I was not afraid back then I will be 70 on my next birthday Happy I grew up not thinking anyone was different because their skin was another color I had great parents
Misty Blue I’m seventy next year and we lived through some of the greatest music ever
My parents too. I am so glad they loved soul music. Their record collection was phenomenal!!
As a Canadian living across the border we went to several events at the Fox mainly to see Motown artists. Also went to a few jazz clubs in Detroit. Was never afraid of different cultures. This was in the 60s and I loved the great music we were exposed to. Always felt you judge people by the kind of person they were and I was glad that’s how I was raised. It’s very hard to see so much divisiveness and hatred now. At that time music brought people together.🥰
That's what happens when your music moves you.
Words to live by.
I LOVE to think of Stevie telling the producers "I do not want to lip sync." The man can sing. Always amazing.
He is real musical genius.
He totally felt music
what a smart thing Mr. Wonder said, about being able to more accurately judge one's character with basing it on their looks" ya see the world can learn from a blind man.
This man emits very positive energy!
This man epitomises greatness. Living legend.
Stevie's a Baaaaaaddddd Man....
+MrDerrick20000 Man, that's the truth
singing live to the original tracks. love it.
Motown invented that
Dudes vocals were ahead of his time for 1966.
No lies told
How could someone possibly dislike this?
Some people think that it's their duty.
@@johns.6197 His death was the whole point of that story, so someone had to do it. It should have been god to do the deed, as it was his idea anyway.
Its "simple"... why THEY don't like it...! Its because, neither THEY...nor ANYONE ELSE...in THIER miserable family....CAN DO IT....!!!! Thats why....!!! Really sad....the JEALOUSY...of people...!!!! Some of THESE people...would actually...COMPLAIN, about JESUS...walking on water...(seriously)...they would....!!!😮
Happy Birthday Stevland 🎂
if you're a phony he can see right through you. a wonderful soul super star from birth.
Baby, ev'rything is all right, uptight, out of sight
Baby, ev'rything is all right, uptight, out of sight
I'm a poor man's son, from across the railroad tracks
The only shirt I own is hangin' on my back
But I'm the envy of ev'ry single guy
Since I'm the apple of my girl's eye
When we go out stepping on the town for a while
My money's low and my suit's out of style
But it's all right if my clothes aren't new
Out of sight because my heart is true
She says baby ev'rything is alright, uptight, out of sight
Baby, ev'rything is alright, uptight, clean out of sight
She's a pearl of a girl, I guess that's what you might say
I guess her folks brought her up that way
The right side of the tracks, she was born and raised
In a great big old house, full of butlers and maids
She says no one is better than I, I know I'm just an average guy
No football hero or smooth Don Juan
Got empty pockets, you see I'm a poor man's son
Can't give her the things that money can buy
But I'll never, never, never make my baby cry
And it's all right, what I can't do
Out of sight because my heart is true
She says baby ev'rything is alright, uptight, clean out of sight
Baby, ev'rything is alright, uptight, clean out of sight
Baby, ev'rything is alright, uptight, ha ha ha ha, yeah
Baby, ev'rything is alright, uptight, way out of sight
Baby, ev'rything is alright, uptight, clean out of sight
I remember my dad jamming to Stevie every morning before elementary school! his music was stuck in my head all day at school, but I didn’t mind cuz Stevie is such a great artist!
So privileged to have grown up listening to Stevie Wonder. We'd wait for his songs to play on the radio then go out and buy the 45's and LP's.. Wait for the record to drop, watch the arm swing over and the needle would hit it.. A little scratch then--Stevie Wonder's magic.
Love this description - it took me back Tina.
AWESOME! 16 year old Stevie singing LIVE over the backing track- a rare treat!
Happy Birthday King Stevie!!❤😂
there will never be another stevie wonder!!!!!
Ooooh Gosh! He is so so so cute!♡
What an amazing career he is experiencing. A very talented singer, songwriter and musician. What wonderful memories.
Best artist alive!
"Stevie Wonder Is A Musical Genius!"
This is my first time seeing him at a young age. I’m 26, (a millennial) but my music taste keeps aging backwards! Which is how I ended up here. Lol Blessings!
My oldest brother & Stevie were the same age in 1966 & I had just been born in march that same year my oldest brother jd.the 3rd owned this 45 " record i remember him playing this just hearing the melody when I was a year old I always tried to sing the lyrics but at 1 year old I barely knew how to talk but that melody made me want to dance Stevie was and is an American music icon!I've been a longtime fan of his music since I heard his superstition song of 1973📀
The lyrics to this song are amazing. Today we seem to have gone totally insane with wealth and superficial materials. Wish we could put that genie back in the bottle.
My last name is winder lol I love Stevie wonder soo much. He is one blessed man and we are blessed to have him and his music in our lives. 😇
I just wish the Mike Douglas show would release just a Motown DVD which includes the label's majority artists from the 1960's to the 1970's! Believe me, that would be a sight to see!
What he said at the end of singing that great song was really deep! And so true Stevie......1~Luv
❤️❤️❤️ That baaaaaaaaaaaass
The Funk Bruthas, background vocals
Love Stevie
Love Motown
Steve Wonder is a rare gem believe me when I tell you Love him so much keep shining ⭐️
I think I was at this show. I used to go dance on Shebang 2-3 times a week. Such fun with my friend John from Camarillo, California.
When Stevie hits that Frank Sinatra's 🎶"That's Life..." Note was truly amazing Easter Egg, Always Clever. 😳💗
A world wide musical gift, given to all men from God Almighty! Nuff said!
God Bless This Man
He don't need no god's blessing. Save it for the poor and sick.
This is from the Mike Douglas show from 1966! Now if you can find the Mike Douglas show from the same year with The Supremes and The Temptations then i can die and go to heaven!
I know it still exists out there somewhere. Luckily, Mike Douglas did not "wipe" the video of his old shows so hopefully it will turn up on here one day. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant!!
Thank you, Stevie Wonder.
He looks so much better without those shades on! Very good looking man 🔥
Loved this song, as a kid - and still do
The Legendary Stevie Wonder. A prodigy child from birth. Just Amazing.
Sheer and absolute brilliance
Looking back on this now as an adult ..... these guys had amazing talent as young performers. I have even more respect for them now than I already had.

Go Stevie
I had no idea he was only 16 when he released this song.....
Absolute Class!
Clearly one the greatest of all time !
I never knew that was his song
@Arthur Anderson OK, boomer.
@Arthur Anderson, Jr.music is not a competition.
TRUST. I SLEPT ON HIM TOO. WHAT A PITTY. 😂☹️
Outstanding!.. Everybody to listen not just the great music but the words Stevie says to the interviewer.... I have only have one arm like to feel I have the same thoughts and do the actions this great singer has done..... Kevin
Um dos meus masters, simplesmente único
It was a very good year for music, thanks for your special gift.
This is beautiful.
Love this rare video of Stevie singing this song live:)
The G.O.A.T. Love You Mr. Wonder Thank you for everything you have done in your life and making my life better with your music.
I love Stevie so much♥️😘
Stevie Wonder is a musical genius.
Such a talent
Those who impersonate Stevie wonder and make fun of him being blinds probably have no talent themselves. He has millions in the bank.they don't, it easy to knock someone who has more talent than they do in their little finger.
Which people have done that (names please)?
Alan Fox That's not true. SNL impersonations are flattery. Stevie was never offended by it, so why should you be on his behalf
PURE GREATNESS.
Great Song !
Living legend!
lawd he's a skinny little thing! lol! With a voice that can't be matched :)
Excellent
He's just as cute as he can be. Love the lil dance he did.

Released the year I was born, but when I hear it that song it lifts my mood , such a joyful song and sung with real feeling. Total classic and a lovely voice so good, love Motown xx
Sooooo influential in 🎶💞
WOW!
Will uplift anybody!
This is actually better! Than the mp3 version. And also instead of .."never never never make my baby cry", here he says .." never never never make my cookie cry" which is 1 of the reasons why this man is awsome
Epic...
Stevie wonder he is great and I'm playing him in a play I'm on solo player

BEST SONG FIXED MY MORNING PEACE ALL
One of my first song theres a place in the sun hmmm :D
Get it STEVIE!
He was only 16 years of age in 1966
+Cliff Walton Cool part of his story, as I recall was he started at like 11 or 12, so when the first 10 year contract was up--of course they paid him very little--he was now red hot, 21 or 22, and HE could call the shots from then on.
@@jimquantic yup motown gave full creative control to him and marvin gaye
An unpolished gem!
oh my heart…swoon
Amazing Man , I just so wish i had his Teeth and voice
He was only 16 then!
