We have absolutely the same hair texture. Very soft baby-like 4c hair and very thin. Not full at all and to be honest that’s the only reason I am natural too because I just feel I won’t have any hair to hold unto once I relax it.
This was so relaxing to watch. Idk your hairdresser but I love him! I smiled throughout this video. I'm gonna relax my hair too. My hair is D E N S E and thicc. Gosh you'd have to see it to know. Regardless, I don't feel pretty with natural hair nor do I know how to comb or style it ( I related with u when u put tht gif about how ppl think styling 4c hair is haha) I've been stalling getting it relaxed (scared of burns and hairdressers starting at the root and or combing the relaxer through) but I hope it'll go well!
I just relaxed my hair after two years of being natural. I couldn't take it no more. My natural hair was too thick to comb through and so dry no matter which overpriced natural hair products I bought. I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me I cut my hair into a bob as well I am ready to wear make up now that I can actually style my hair.
Which relaxer did you use? Im so nervous about which relaxer to use ever since the report about relaxers with formaldehyes, etc causing cancer. Im even scared to read the ingredients on relaxers nowadays, in case a relaxer im considering buying contains those ingredients, and then i would have to continue the hunt. I've also struggled a lot with underprocessing during relaxing, so I'm hoping to get a recommendation for a new relaxer.
I just relaxed my hair two days and I had burns and cuts at the end of the whole process. Luckily I didn't loose hair. But I love the outcome. I'm looking for a way to grow my hair.
I want to find a stylist like this, the crown of my head is the thickest and I think that’s the same for most people but I keep seeing hairdressers starting from the bottom. I’m kind of afraid of trying to explain to a hairdresser how they should do their job without sounding like I think I know better
I been natural for almost 3 years and I've been happy of the results as of today. The flip side is that my natural hair is healthy, thick and chemically untouched and I love that. The downside is that my hair gets tangled and that is the only problem I have. Trying to do better with the tangling part. I noticed with relaxed hair some years ago my hair grew, I just didn't know how to maintain the moisture. Going to the hair salon can be costly. So be ready if you get a relaxer, unless you know how to do it yourself. Relaxers weren't an issue, the tangling is an issue. I am terrified of getting a relaxer so I am going to continue to be natural.
Not to sound judge but you could also have gotten a silk press... relaxers are not what we think they are. A new study linked them to ovarian cancers and more... be safe out there
Not to sound defensive but the problem with people mentioning this study is that, most of them haven’t taken time out to read the study. If you read the study, you’d find that FREQUENT use of relaxers (>4 times a year) is what the study observed. You’d also notice that multiple factors were considered like BMI of subjects, race, alcohol use, etc. All of which played a role in the findings. Here is a direct quote from the study “Our novel findings suggest that frequent use of hair straighteners/relaxers or pressing products, which are primarily used by African American/Black women, and possibly permanent hair dye, may be associated with the occurrence of ovarian cancers.” Noticed how people conveniently mentioned relaxers and leave the others out? And finally, there should be multiple studies, across multiple years and subjects to establish this as a fact. I get that you’re looking out for us which is heartwarming but in order not to push a false agenda, read the study and advice accordingly. Be safe Helen
@@TheAntwiwaa this was very well articulated. People definitely need to actually READ instead of believing what someone told them. Doing proper research yes ma’am.
@@TheAntwiwaa it really was too much. They go for tge style and if your hair length is in tge way of that style they cut smh It takes a long time to grow hair
I know your pain. I have sparse, thin hair. When my hair was fully processed I looked bald. My ponytail was anorexic. Bigchop. I decided to texlax. Iffy business. left me with 8 different textures that were impossible to care for. Bigchop 2. When I was natural I was always trying to fix something. Dryness, tangling, breakage. it felt like a prison. Bigchop 3. Now i have an inch of natural hair. I can get any style I want not worry about matting and tangling. Color it and not worry about losing length gains.🧘♀
Relaxing my hair was the best thing I did 2 years ago…. I’ve been loving it

I knowwww. To be honest it doesn’t feel bad. There’s definitely some hair to hold on to 😂 but it doesn’t have as much volume as our other sisters
