Holy shit. The sound is so pumping but yet clear. Really nice balance. Cant believe the vocals still have so much space in the mix with whats all going on. Everythings awesome about that song.
Monuments main strength has always been making some pretty great groove riffs. Yea people hate on Djent, but Monuments reminds us that Djent can be musical and not robotic sounding(cough cough Born Of Osiris).
0:45 Shades of Denis Stoff with these vocals, but with actual balls to back them up. I love Chris' new lower key vocal style, easier on his voice, and allows the grooves to drive the music, and oh lawd they do. I was a bit nervous about A.W.O.L. (didn't stop me from playing it at least twice a day) but hearing this convinces me that Phronesis might just be their best album to date, only time will tell though. Also 3:23 about time he put this in a song, he does it live often enough. XD
“So let it go! We can’t assume control! The only thing to hate is the hate in you!”, is my favourite part in the lyrics \m/ and Barreto’s screams are goddamn fire! Hope they visit Philippines soon!
This song continues the tradition of Monuments always having really solid second songs on their records!! Loving the multiple different vocal approaches in one song! This song has some serious groove!!
See, I told you all not to worry ;) Monuments always deliver the goods. This is why they are one of the best metal bands out there at the moment. I especially love this song because it's a slightly new sound, but it still has that monuments vibe to it - you KNOW you're listening to monuments when you hear this. Also, that end groove nearly made me dislodge every vertebra in my neck from headbanging too hard.
Am I the only Honduran 🇭🇳 who liked a song from this underrated progressive metal band? 🎸⚡️🤘 I don't know, but I love it and it's still a great song 🎵. I don't know why it's so underrated. Monuments should more popular worldwide, because their music is really good. Greetings, I'm from Honduras 🇭🇳🔥🎸⚡️🎵🤘.
I don't really get why people giving so much hate on this new album. Yes, songs became a bit lighter and some new lyrics are not that deep as we hope to hear, but the entire album sounds great! Every song off the album has got the good clean vocals and fuck, I've never heard something similiar to vocalist's voice. Its amazing. I met this band with this new album and I can't say that new one is worse. Guys, we have to be thankful for this band, that haven't become a pop shit like BMTH. New album of MMF disappointed me much more. Nothing to complain, IM GIVING A FAT LIKE FOR EACH SONG. GIMME MORE.
Absolutely lovely! I first discovered John's guitar playthrough, where the mix is biased towards guitar sound, obviously, and now I'm super happy to hear the proper album mix! Great work, Monuments, the wait for MIII seems to have been worth it!
To all those who say that they are disappointed in the lyrics of Phronesis I have one thing to suggest. It's called self-projection, and you should learn about it. In fact, I have a slight feeling that the song itself is about self-projection. Peace.
@@Waltzhybrid92 no, It's only my opinion. I'm the source. I'm clearly speculating. Considering their FB page hasn't been updated in four months leads me to believe that there is reason for concern.
The two previous albums (especially Amanuensis) are really "inspired" albums. The construction of lyrics and melodic vocal parts in The Amanuensis are very accurate and well contextualized. In these last two singles I found the "classic" Monuments, but only in the instrumental part...lyrics and clean vocals are below my expectations and hear this from one of the best modern metal bands out there really hurts. I think this new record is simply not for me...I hope I can contradict myself in the future...in any case...SICK INSTRUMENTAL!
I agree with the OP. The instrumentation is fantastic, but the lyrics don't really work. It's like Michael Jackson meets 80s glam metal. It's a shame considering how good Chris has been in the past, with amanuensis and his short stint with haunted shores. I love sp0nce though. So I must disagree with this other reply.
mercuryfaith... Amanuensis stopped me in my tracks about 4 months ago. I only came across this band because I was falling down a Periphery rabbit hole and Spotify decided it was time to make some alternative suggestions. :) I’ve been really looking forward to this album and when they dropped the first song I was like... oh no. BUT I did listen to AWOL without watching the lyrics video several times and it grew on me. I am WAY more optimistic hearing this track and I suggest not watching the lyrics as well. I have to keep reminding myself it took me 10,000 try’s to actually GET the genius of 10,000 days and now its my favorite album ever.

First time listening: "Meh..." I lost track of how many times I've listened to this song, the chorus is one of the best I have ever heard in a long time
Although it'll more than likely grow on me, on my first listen I'm failing to find something that grabs me by the balls and makes me think "this is fucking awesome" which has happened with like 95% percent of Monuments' songs. Hopefully this isn't setting the standard for the album. Edit: it's Chris vocals man, they won me over haha
I love Monuments' music, but both the new singles were sort of underwhelming for me and took a couple of listens to grow on me. I hope they didn't release the strongest songs on this album as singles.
How is even possible this track doesnt have a millions views Already! I guess century forgot how to promote the good shit! Hail monuments the album is dope such as the production!
Can we just put those „i like it/i dont like it” comments aside for a second and just appreciate the sick riffage and overall composition and mix ? Hats down to all the people participating in composing/recording this material. Whether all of you like it or not, it is very nice that there are people down there who produce music with that level of paying attention to details. It took a shitload of hours and litres of sweat to get this piece of music from somebody’s brain to this particular place on youtube. I appreciate it, keep up doing the good job people.
Why do I love this song way more than AWOL? I usually prefer fast and heavy shit but damn this is such a good song and feel myself putting this on repeat for hours at a time. So glad Chris is back!
Well I watched the newest mark Holcomb clinic and he said they took all of this year off and they have finished writing periphery four and now they are going to record and release it on their own record label and also he said don't expect to see periphery touring till sometime around March 2019
Do you guys like veil of Maya? I started loving their music on their two newest albums mikasa and false idol they are way better when they add clean sings and became more melodic Lukas Magyar is beast such a good singer

Loving Barretos' vocals more and more everytime I listen to this
Yeah but you should listen to them live, not gonna like them😕😕😕
Best live perfomance I've ever seen so far. I don't understand all the hate against Chris?! He's a great guy!
he left. i'm so sad
@@myfaceisonfire6985 Andy Cizek is a fucking beast tho... but yeah sucks that he left but honestly I adore both of them
Man, honestly I like how they are adding different elements into these songs. This one sounds kinda poppy, and I honestly love it.

I... I can feel the way this song moves.
If that opening riff doesn't get your blood pumping, then you're not alive

I usually got some MJ vibes from Chris on the Amanuensis. It's cool to see he seems to be expanding on that influence here

I use to say that every nine djent act there's a tenth who is actually good. Well, Monuments got the round number.
👍👍👍
Vitalism is robotic but I like it tho.
Oilid They ain’t recording single notes and merging them together in pro tools lol
Born of Billy Ray Osiris
Yea their newer stuff like silence the echo is universally hated lol. They are far far away from their glory days when they had Jason Richardson.
Rhythmic masters. Really digging the different writing styles between Olly (first song) and Browne (this song).
Love that MJ groove, sick song dudes.

This is a great comparison actually, love to see someone mentioning 40 Below Summer. Max's uncleans always had this rawness to them that I loved
The riffs in this song are so groovy. Such a killer song
John Browne's down picking is other worldly.
