Everyone (understandably) focuses on John's right hand technique, but his left hand is quite nuts as well.
I love this song too. If these first two songs are representative of the new album, it's going to be at least as good as The Amanuensis, imo.

Daniel Marino-Austin the song begins in Eb Phrygian (Ab minor) and at the end of the verse changes to Bb Phrygian (Eb minor) for the build up to the chorus. The song then comes back to Eb Phrygian through the intro riff, and this continues throughout the song

Those high notes in between the groove at 3:50 are the best! I wish the guitars were this clear in the released mixes.

The highs on this guitar tone are so ridiculously glassy. I love it.
This song is so understated. The concepts are fairly simple when they are taken one by one, but each part flows so effortlessly into the next part and then adds a new element without becoming too busy.
Oh and the muting and slides are insanely clean. 🤘🏼
