I think I will be getting one. I have several 1 pound devices. And have always filled my own tanks. It works real well when it is super cold out (Northern Maine), and you can keep the 20 pound tank inside, get it nice and warm, leave the 1 pounders outside to get nice and cold. You can fill them about 95% full.
This system looks to have solved the problem by having a functional vent, allowing you to get the 1 pounder full without needing the temperature difference.

All I have ever heard/read is that the law does not allow for the transportation of 16 oz propane bottles that have been refilled, inside vehicles. You mentioned these are DOT approved, but does that mean the DOT has provided an exception for them? I would love to be able to find it so I can have a copy on my phone for when I get pulled over.

We reached out to Mr. Heater about selling the Fuel Kegs in Canada. Apparently there are some obstacles with Canadian law regarding refilling propane tanks. But they said they are working on it!

You said you can refill “dozens of times “. Is there a refill limit before the can can’t be used?

I reached out to the company and they let me know that after “hundreds” of refills the Kegs the tanks still performed flawlessly. There is no definitive lifespan.
